Turns out Google decided it was a good idea to put their G+ tips and tricks for the media page on G+ itself. Huzzah!

Update: Upon further conversation with Google's Sean Carlson, it turns out this page of tips and tricks for the media will not actually be on Google+ (which is a bit of a missed opportunity, in my humble opinion). The page exists here and they plan to keep updating it with new tips: http://www.google.com/+/learnmore/media/
Earlier: Sounds like Google will soon be starting a G+ page for journalists to collect tips, tricks and examples of best practices (I'm at Google today for a WSJ orientation.) I think this will help journalists use the platform a bit more effectively. What do you think? What would be most helpful to you to see on that page? For me, I just want to better keep up with new features here, and see how other media are using it.

Remember back when Google+ launched and they were really pushing Circles as the killer feature? Well, it's been a few months and I find myself rarely using the Circle feature, and just posting publicly every time. I feel like Hangouts are a lot more revolutionary. But maybe I'm an outlier since I use social media largely as a professional thing... What do you guys think? Are you using Circles pretty aggressively or are they not that important to you?

I thought I'd use +Gerwin Sturm 's All my + tool to compare user activity and engagement on a variety of news media Google+ pages. +The New York Times leads the pack by a considerably margin, with +Mashable and +The Next Web also doing quite well.

There will be a lot of media coverage of the Iowa caucuses tonight, since they're the first real test for Republican contenders for president. But do you feel like you actually understand the way they work? If not, check out the transcript of a Q&A political correspondent Mike Shear did today on Facebook. He answers a lot of the basics. (We created the transcript with Storify.)

+Ben Parr answers this question by saying, it depends on what you expected out of G+ in the first place. Has Google+ lived up to your expectations? Exceeded them? Fallen short?

Here are a few things I learned from our first New York Times Google+ video hangout:
I just watched it in full, after running around with +Alexis Mainland and +Bill Horn "producing" it behind the scenes yesterday. It's pretty amazing how raw and organic it feels, and how different than traditional broadcast. +Sam Grobart and +Jenna Wortham did a great job as hosts (thanks, guys!).
1. Apparently there is a thriving community of artists, musicians and fashion types on here, something I learned during the hangout. We'll have to do one of these with our Culture critics!
2. If you're a publisher hosting a hangout, be aware that every comment you type on your page scrolls across the bottom of the video in progress. **Update: +Bill Horn thinks this may have been a combination of our screen capture utility and our typing in the... more »
