A shot taken inside the Natural History Museum in London. This shot is made up of approx 100 individual shots.I shot 20 5 shot brackets and combined them together to make 20 HDR images. I then layered all the images on top of each other in Photoshop and set about slowly erasing all the people from the shot. If anybody as ever been to the Museum they will know just how many people I have had to remove. They don't allow tripods inside the museum but luckily I was allowed to use my Gorillapod. Without some kind of support this image would have been impossible.I created a grid inside my head while taking the images and just tried to get a blank piece of floor inside each shot.

The Oregon Coast

I needed to take a break from eBook layout-ing, so I thought I'd process a photo I took when my friend +David Daniels was in town visiting  We took a trip out to the coast, and while we didn't have much of a sunset, we did have some good texture in the sky.

Processing Info: This is a combination of two photos (one for the water, other for the sky and rocks), and I did all of my stylization inside of Lightroom using one of my "Nicolesy Presets", as well as a few tweaks here and there. (This was the Golden Spiral preset from the "Down Under" preset pack: http://store.nicolesy.com/products-page/all-products/down-under/)

My favorite season...

This is an image from a trip I made to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill last year when the leaves were golden. I didn't get out much to photograph Autumn over the last few years (I was traveling in SE Asia both times), and now that I'm moving to California someone will have to show me where there are good spots to get color in the leaves (please tell me there are places near the SF Bay area with colorful leaves!). :)

And, I wanted to post a vertical to see how pretty it looked in the stream. Kinda digging the new features of the G+ UI :)

I had a great night this weekend. This is my first object with a very long overall exposure time of more than 1 hour.
The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula at a distance of about 1,360 light years.

Lost

Last night I took +Brian Matiash up the coast to photograph this cool 'ship' wreck. The last time I was here, there wasn't enough water to capture any reflections, so I was pretty jazzed about this scene. So, I hopped into the water (with my wellies on) and got all set-up...then Brian decided to stand right in my shot. Instead of telling him to bugger off, I thought it made the shot even more interesting, so we made this one. It's my favourite of the night.

LIGHTS OF THE MALEDIVES ...

heute war der zweite tag in folge, wo das wetter herrlich war. sonne satt, azur blauer himmel und abends beim dinner ein sonnenuntergang, wie man ihn nur hier sieht - ein fantastisches farbenspiel der natur, das sich im minutentakt  farblich verändert,
leider geht unser urlaub so langsam dem ende zu, so ist das halt im leben, man wartet ewig auf diese zeit, und wenn sie dann kommt, ist sie leider so schnell vorbei - ich wünsche euch noch einen schönen sonntag abend und einen zauberhaften pfingsmontag. :)

Macau Was Wet

When I tell people about Macau my most common response is, "where is that?"  It usually gets followed up with, "I bet it is crazy there."  If I placed money on these responses I would be a much wealthier man.  ;) 
My whole time in Hong Kong and Macau was blanketed by fog and a sheet of rain.  It didn't stop me from trying to capture everything I could though.  This is the non-casino side of China's version of Las Vegas.  Grimy residential buildings and the smell of food line the overpopulated streets but don't let that discourage you.  It is a worthwhile experience.  One thing I didn't expect here was the tremendous amount of jerky stalls.  Everyone is selling, carrying, eating, or picking dried meat out of their teeth on the streets.  I have to admit that some of it was quite delicious though.  I hope to return oneday with fa... more »

Devil’s Cornfield, Death Valley National Park
One thing I was not expecting to see in Death Valley was a photogenic weed patch!

Just like Devils Golf Course, where only the Devil could play golf, here at Devil’s Cornfield, only the Devil could eat this corn! It’s not corn at all — it’s arrowweed.

I made this image in the early evening just as the light began to soften, but while there was still plenty of light illuminating the mountains and making the stacks of arrowweed appear golden. I was heading to the sand dunes for sunset, so I didn’t spend much time here. I just pulled off to the side of the road for a few quick shots.

From ground level, all the arrowweed shrubs blended together, but I discovered that by standing on top of the box in the bed of the truck I could get an elevated perspective and create some separation between theshrubs.
