Old gas station in North Georgia that I captured this winter on one of my backroad trips. Places like these were the "local hangouts" back in the day. Sit out front and watch the world as it went by your little spot on the planet. Now we hang out here, online - not quite the same, but in some ways it has its own unique charm and a wider net. :-)

The famous Bedford Oak. Bedford, NY.
At the corner of Hook Road and Old Bedford Rd. (Rt 22) stands the famous Bedford Oak. It’s a white oak (Quercus alba) and it’s approximately 400 - 500 years old! It’s girth is more than 23 feet, and the spread of its branches is 130 feet from tip to tip.
The Bedford Oak has always been a part of Bedford NY’s history, and lived largely undisturbed until 1977, when a neighboring construction project threatened to change the environment surrounding the tree. Luckily, several prominent citizens quickly raised funds to buy the land and it has been under the vigilant stewardship of the historic society ever since. When driving by, many residents are known to tip their hat to show respect to the town's oldest citizen. The oak is just south of the Bedford Cross.

This is the busy little town beach of Long Lake in the Adirondack park, (Upstate NY). From here you can grab a ride to the many wilderness areas. Or you can fly into Lake Placid for dinner!

This cute little Northern Borne bait stand was located in Long Lake, NY just across the street from the famous Hoss's Country store. You can also see Hoss's Ice cream stand to the left. Photographed on film and scanned.

No. 2-C Autographic Kodak Jr. Camera. (1920's something)
This camera uses Autographic Film, No. A-130. Unfortunately the A130 film is no longer available. It's also a bit wider than the commonly available 120 medium format film.
The Autographic series cameras has a little window on the back which you could flip open and write a small comment. The camera folds up to "pocketbook" sizes. #Cameras #Film
