Went for a hike over the Thanksgiving holiday and this was our companion for some of the trip! Did not appear to be too frightened of us....we were in National Forest and it is hunting season so I was surprised she hung around with us as long as she did.

Chile Volcano Plume Explodes With Lightning

Since you were very enthusiastic about the Chile Ash Cloud picture I posted last night http://goo.gl/TsJX7, I decided to do some research and share more amazing pictures with you.

The eruption of the Puyehue volcano in the Andes mountains of southern Chile in mid-2011 provided some spectacular images of the force of nature.

Ash covers the landscape and thousands of people were evacuated from the surrounding rural communities.

The volcano, which hasn't been active since 1960 when it erupted after an earthquake, sent its plume of ash 6 miles high across Argentina and toward the Atlantic Ocean.

I have been given the opportunity to explore China for two weeks in January 2012....Shanghai and Anting areas. Any suggestions of places to explore, not to miss or better yet, places to avoid? Excited, and a little nervous as I will be doing most of my travel and exploring alone...so every bit of advice will be duly noted!! I wish G+ would fix the 'jumping screen'...I go to share something and by the time I add my comment, it jumps completely off the screen and I struggle to find it so I can press 'share'. I've gotten frustrated a few times and just not shared it as I can't find it again.

A little work on our part can go a LONG way. Every time we swipe a card in a store, the business owner has to pay a fee to the mega banks everyone is complaining so much about. You hear people estimate that fee at 3%, but I’ve worked with a ton of business owners over the years and that average has crept up to 4% now and when we use our precious rewards cards it’s even damn near 5%.

Small church on top of a huge rock column

Atlas Obscura - "The Katskhi Pillar abruptly rises 40 meters from the hills of Central Georgia and looks similar to a giant’s club. Its mythical aura made it a place of worship since humans settled this area. Prior to the arrival of Christianity, the pillar served as a pagan holy place for a long time and was most likely used for fertility rites.

"In the 4th century, Georgia adapted Christianity as its state religion, as the second country in the world after Armenia. Slowly, and following in a general world trend, Christianity replaced pagan places of worship with Christian ones to consolidate the new set of beliefs. Thus, the Katskhi Pillar became the site of a small church first built in the 7th century. ..."

Back from one awesome fall ride on the motorcycle. And, really thankful for a GPS module that demands you take the back roads and enjoy life! Had lunch at a sweet BBQ pit and on the way home, the GPS was very insistent that we take a road neither of us had been on before. I always say 'Life is an Adventure...'

Gorgeous mountaintop views, trees were spectacular...vibrant reds, electric oranges....amongst Christmas tree farms. Would have missed it all if we hadn't turned around. Wow, what a beautiful world we live in!

Now, hoping I've successfully captured how beautiful it really was.....

Taken in downtown Roanoke, VA a few years ago. Texas Tavern is an old standard for Roanokers and a must-see for visitors. A sign instead reads "Serving 1 million customers, 10 at a time"....there are only 10 stools at the counter.

This was in front of me at a red light about an hour ago. Luckily I had a camera in the car but didn't have time to adjust lenses from previous indoor shoot...combating sun glare on windshield was a real pain! Can you imagine the # of people he freaks out on a daily basis! His tag said EMORTL

Back from a brisk walk up to Molly's Knob [a local mountain top in the hills of southwestern Virginia]. The view was outstanding! Just wish I had taken the bigger SD card for my camera....I had to delete files to take some photos from the top. Now, with photos from yesterday's Celtic Festival, I'm anxious to check out my photo work...but before that, I've got to get the furnace cleaned out, water tank filled, gas on and fire it up 'cause it's a chilly 38degs in the house!
