Today, I turn 34 years old. Other plans have fallen through, but I'm making the best of it. Here's what I'll be doing today:

- Sleep late (Check!)
- Irish Breakfast at my favorite Irish pub
- Coffee at my favorite coffee shop
- Whichever activity I feel like most at the time. Perhaps the Museum of Science, Spider-Man, or a short trip out to the Island.
- Ice cream at least once
- Dinner at one of my favorite places, probably Desfina
- And to wrap it up, it looks like I will probably be joining people seeing The Dark Knight.

(The rest of my extended birthday includes a trip home to NH for dinner with Dad and a cook-out for my grandmother's birthday, plus a proper island outing on August 4th.)

Today, I completed a "digital preview edition" of FAILSAFE.

(That means I finished lettering updates, digital production, trade dress, etc. pending the final cover artwork, and packaged it all up.)

Incidentally, if any of my comics professional friends, or anyone in the comics press, wants to see a review copy, just let me know.

Kickstarter backers should receive their print copies in September, but I'm hoping to send out a final digital version to them way ahead of that.

Ever since I gave Janessa the Sanguine Rose, she prefers summoning her own Dremra to dual-wielding. We just entered a mine and she summoned him to kill a single skeleton. The skeleton dispatched, her summoned Dremora just starts mining. No shit.

(For anyone not familiar with the game-- My assassin minion summoned a demon minion of her own and it picked up a pick axe and went to work mining iron.)

This is my official notice that I am looking for employment.

I have almost a decade of experience in software support, technical account management, and to a degree desktop support. I'm also considering a career change to editing comics or similar media. I am open to relocation, but my preference would be near my Cambridge (MA) home.

(I'd like to keep this post positive and productive, rather than a place to vent or seek consolation. There's another place for that. Please respect that.)

There's one great piece of superhero universe logic in The Avengers that I haven't seen mentioned much. Hawkeye volunteers to join the fight. Cap looks at Black Widow. Black Window just gives a nod.

Cap: "Do you have a suit?"
Hawkeye: "Yeah"
Cap: "Then suit up."

This is a world where when someone wants to fight evil, they are on the team. This is a world where people who want to fight evil probably like to dress up a little fancier to do that. That makes me happy.

Last night after work, I...

- Wrote a piece honoring my grandfather, based on my remarks from his memorial.

- Made a round of edits and layout updates to the book it will be included in, "Memories of Struck". (This draft goes to the family for final review, and my grandmother will see it on Mothers Day.)

- Sent the final art notes to the artist for my upcoming one-shot comic book Failsafe. (All that is left are some small lettering tweaks, the cover, and production for printing.)

I'm big on the idea of our nation as a conglomeration of different cultures, stronger because we come together. That said, I'm getting pretty damn sick of being a citizen of a country that includes the regressive deep south. In 2012 we should not still have to fight civil rights battles.

As I was walking to work this morning, it seemed like my jeans weren't fitting quite as expected. I began to wonder if they had shrunk, or if I have simply continued to enfatten myself.

Later this morning, as I walked back from grabbing my morning coffee, they started to fit differently for a moment. Then something fell out of my pant leg. A sock.

In fact, an Incredible Hulk sock. Remember folks: Grown-ass adult.
