All in all, I was medium pleased with this hunt's offerings. Except the fact that I missed two themes. This hunt happened at the busiest time in my life.
Funny story. One of my missed themes was "Regret" and of course, I regret that.... but a fun back story. I did attempt a regret. My idea... show myself drinking from a Big-Gulp Cup while stuck in traffic. So, one day as traffic was moving slow, I pulled out my Big-Gulp and proceed to take a picture with the my Big Cup in one hand, and the traffic out the windshield. Traffic was not at a complete standstill, but we were moving slow. No mishap. the Shot was just "so so" cause the traffic really didn't look crunched enough. Two days later the boss calls me. Says he must file a report for a complaint, that I was seen driving a state vehicle (I was) with a Big Cup in one hand, a large 35 mm camera in the ... more »

Just kind of a crazy snap from the work day, before a team photo in a conference room. And that really is a glass topped table.

I've just posted a new article on my blog, "But that's just Photoshop", on the relationship between pre-visualisation and post-production. And for anyone who's interested, there's a processing challenge at the end of the article.

When a press event is not a press event
The ubiquity of digital cameras, phone cameras, and probably the worst, tablet cameras, gives every people the access of photographing everything around them and everything that happens around them.
I grew up in a time when taking photographs of people or of events is a luxury that not all enjoy. Film cameras are expensive. Developing films are expensive. More so printing them. Every click of the camera costs the photographer. So one must really think if that very instant is worthy of that cost. If that moment is important.
I happen to experience digital photography in 2003 with a 3-megapixel digital slr. Yes you read it right, a three-megapixel camera. My digital film then was a 128mb compact flash drive. It was the most wonderful experience. I no longer have to think of the cost of each photo. I can click whenever I want and... more »

Solution that is working so far. I go to the More column, scroll down to the bottom and go to the one column option... then I enlarge the image on my computer. Looks more like what we used to have.

Observation. At home I have a 27 inch mac. The three column really works. But at work, on a much smaller monitor, I go just single column. (And in that climate I wish the images were bigger.)

Can somebody tell me, when using the tree column approach, why some pictures are big. Who or what decides that certain pictures show up big. Can we make our pictures that we post show up big?

2013-05-15 21:20:05 (3 comments, 0 reshares, 6 +1s)
Yea yea Yea..... I found out how to single column. Now I am a happy camper. Go to More, scroll to bottom. Viola. Back to something my brain can handle.

Whoa. Shock to my system. New Layout. But guys you goofed. You failed to ask my opinion before you changed everything all up! First impression. Yes to everything EXCEPT the Double columns. Too much information all at once. I want Less Less Less on the page at any one time. I have pretty much stopped using Facebook for this very same reason. But the colors, the lifted box, the symbols... All work very well. So consider me split. All I wanna know is how do I make all my posts go big like some I see. I like the big fill the space pictures.

Mastodon in the primitive Arkansas dawn.
Now that the reveals for the Landscape division of the +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt are underway I can share this with a larger world. This image ties with one other (yet to be revealed) that I was most happy about from the hunt. Landscape theme.
Taken Easter Morning near Bigalow Arkansas.
Thanks +Kimberly Tweed for spotting the Mastodon.

I will be curious to see if this works, in that I have established convictions (I am a Christian) and do not believe that various religions can be reconciled with each other... However, I believe that we all owe each other a debt of gratitude, and that I have many things to learn from others.
