I know I haven't been the most active on the #photography  front lately, but today I finally got my ass out the door and got to #explore  some wooded areas around here. And I found so much #moss ! Such wonderful, little forms of #life :) So I hope you like them. But keep in mind, I've edited them very little, and on Sondre's bigass TV, so I'm kinda wondering how they'll look on another screen x)

Why #Anubis is so freakin' #awesome as a #mythological creature/figure: 

Anubis was associated with the mummification and protection of the dead for their journey into the afterlife. He was usually portrayed as a half human, half jackal, or in full jackal form wearing a ribbon and holding a flail in the crook of its arm. The jackal [Note: recent genetic studies show that the Egyptian jackal is actually a form of the grey wolf and has thus been renamed the "Egyptian Wolf"] was strongly associated with cemeteries in ancient Egypt, since it was a scavenger which threatened to uncover human bodies and eat their flesh. The distinctive black color of Anubis "did not have to do with the jackal [per se] but with the color of rotting flesh and with the black soil of the Nile valley, symbolizing rebirth."

#random #thoughts of the day: I am not a woman.. I am not a man.. I am something in between. Why does gender have to define everything? Of course it's good to define when it comes to biology.. medicine affects women and men differently after all. 

But socially? That's just downright stupid if you ask me.. I have super feminine "I just want to eat chocolate and get snuggled after doing my hair and feeling pretty!" days and I have other, more 'butch' "I need to learn more about physics and drink lager while we burp in the sun" days. So what? Why do I have to put all my eggs (no pun intended) in either the male/female basket?! 

Men should be allowed to cry and show their feelings as much as they want, just as much as I shouldn't be obligated to be viewed as a hysterical wreck unable to control anything related to emotions!

whoop whoop! +Sondre Jensen's #camera is alive again after we found the battery charger ;) so I've been #playing  around with it a little. Strange to use a #400D again after using the #40D for so long. But it's nice and light. And #Canon  is #Canon  ;) 

anywhoo.. here's a #photo  of a #flower  for ya :) hope you like it. Note: edited on a totally uncalibrated bigass TV, so I have no idea how the colours actually came out x)

The beautiful golden tint in the water are caused by natural tannins from the native forest.

This image was created whilst finalising locations for a two week South Island Photo Tour that Dean Fitzpatrick and I are planning for April next year.
