Glorious city.

I hope it's good the perpetrator(s) get (limited!) time to read THIS.

Happiness is Difficult Decisions.
Dedicated to everyone who has ever left a loved one for sake of their own fears. THIS is what you missed in your life.

I've been called a lampoonist in hiding today. Literally. But the life tempo and the values are on the very edge right now, I can't take that as an offence (no, not without sarcastically laughing at myself). Might be I should appropriate the identity. The Harvard Lampoon is great, for instance. Is there a curriculum for becoming a better lampoonist other that practicing more often?

I decided
I decided I'd attempt to exploit the current change to my gain (if anything of the sort can be claimed at all in this quandary), but I appreciated the radical honesty by a dear friend who said "I am so sad it seems you are without options now". People say these things and that triggers a correct, let me call it, "adjustment response". I've been a good person to deserve people who know what exactly to say!
Sorry for being MIA. I'll be online more often when (if) I adjust to the new demands and challenges.

Speak with conviction. It is not enough these days to simply "question authority", you gotta speak with it too.

Aw, I remember someone describing her English when she found herself in the lowest "native" quintile. Now here I am myself. In the "native" bracket, FTW.

This was not happening until today. Now many times I try to post something, the "Also send email to Your circles" is checked, and I have to constantly keep un-checking it. Why is this now occurring?

Even if you ditched your TV
I've been wanting to award "Raising Hope" with my very special award for celebrating humanity since some time now, and this last episode from earlier this week showed just how much this show deserves appreciation. This time the family takes on the role of doomsday preppers and... saves the community. So even if you are not following it, maybe you want to watch this one episode (season three, episode 10).
Beautifully #progressive

"Valve is not averse to all organizational structure—it crops up in many forms all the time, temporarily. But problems show up when hierarchy or codified divisions of labor either haven’t been created by the group’s members or when those structures persist for long periods of time. We believe those structures inevitably begin to serve their own needs rather than those of Valve’s customers. The hierarchy will begin to reinforce its own structure by hiring people who fit its shape, adding people to fill subordinate support roles. Its members are also incented to engage in rent-seeking behaviors that take advantage of the power structure rather than focusing on simply delivering value to customers." -Valve New Employee Handbook (PDF)

Saugokitės, bet nebijokit :)
Alcoholic hallucinosis (or alcohol-related psychosis) is a complication of alcohol withdrawal in alcoholics. This develops about 12 to 24 hours after drinking stops and involves auditory and visual hallucinations, most commonly accusatory or threatening voices. This condition is distinct from delirium tremens since it develops and resolves rapidly, involves a limited set of hallucinations and has no other physical symptoms.
The risk of developing alcoholic hallucinosis is increased by long-term heavy alcohol abuse and the use of other, illicit drugs.
Descriptions of the condition date back to at least 1907.

One of the most profound #psychology -related interviews of this year for me. I've said before (http://www.quora.com/Who-is-the-most-influential-psychologist-of-the-last-20-years), Harville Hendrix is the most influential psychologist of our time.

Mitch Albom's "The Time Keeper" (2012: Hyperion).
Yesterday I fancied telling you about the small and precious book that I read, but having finished it, I won't say it. If you're a junkie of everything that concerns the concept time (theory of relativity, ageing, young love, meaning of childhood, serenity of a slow time, etc. etc.) like I am, then by all means, read it. Here is a short video interview with the author, shot at the Times Square, of all places: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/mitch-albom-interview-best-selling-author-speaks-gma-17142086
But I would advise against giving this book as a gift to others.
If you think it might help their suicidal thoughts, it will not. If you're into helping someone you suspect might be wanting too little time, do your best to let them know their life has impact, don't throw books on them.
