Funny how a few months back Canon told everyone that they didn't feel the need to go with a High MP camera and now, more than ever, rumors say they will be announcing one before September (and again these are only rumors)..I think a lot of people have already jumped ship due to not only the High MP of the Nikon but also increased dynamic range and incredible image quality. Now that it is a fact that the D800 is an incredible camera, specially for landscape photographers, Canon has no choice to start spreading rumors if they want to keep or at least make photographers that are thinking about going over to Nikon wait a little longer.

I am sure they will announce one but, will it be be the same story as the 1DX..People have been waiting for it for over 6 months and still no show..Now if they announce it in September will it be only available in 2013?  Also as speculated, if it is a camera in... more »

Touchdown Reykjavik, Iceland, said a sad goodbye to the Faroe Islands this morning, truly magical place. A big big thank you to Súsanna Sørensen from www.visitfaroeislands.com , she has been more than helpful in making this experience one I will never forget.

Large panorama shot of the Faroe Islands taken with my mobile phone. Such a beautiful place with unpredictable weather. One must always be ready to adapt quickly to what mother nature has to offer. I have had more than my share of snow and rain on my lenses and filters but with that also comes very dramatic light. This trip really confirmed my thoughts of hiring an assistant on these trips to clean my filters, carry my gear and be ready to hand me over another camera body with different lens when needed ;) ... Ahhh Dream on :)

Spent last night sunset shoot trying to capture this incredible location ( sunset is at around 11pm here in the Faroes at the moment). Was forced to work with very high winds, blowing snow and cold temperature. Not an easy task I must admit..trying to keep my camera steady and my filters clean became an impossible task. The light show was definitely EPIC!! At one point, one must learn to put the camera aside and enjoy the wonderful nature show appearing right before my eyes. Will definitely go back to that location today, to give it a try once more.

Lee Daniels is feisty, loving, friendly, a magnificent professional writer and fine art photographer. She's an elementary school teacher who continues to teach, love and praise others. She was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. Because of her health situation she's unable to get out and take pictures. Like most independent photographers she doesn't have health insurance. You can imagine the stress and pain this would cause. Lee is a fighter. Let's help her win this fight.

This will be my home for the next 2 weeks. Faroe Islands definitely looks promising. Just can back from a beautiful stay on the island of Mykines where
I stayed in the beautiful guesthouse of Kristianshus. Really had a great time exploring this picturesque island home of thousands of puffins, gannets and other species of birds. Wish me luck, I am off exploring the other islands tmrw. Will have to adopt a night schedule since sunset is at 11pm and sunrise 4am, this means I go to bed after breakfast :)

My trip in Iceland comes to end, definitely a place I will come back very soon. If you are planning a trip to this beautiful country which I know a lot of you nature photographers are, I highly suggest that you do it the way me, +Ken Kaminesky & +Colby Brown did. Renting a camper at http://www.happycampers.is/ was definitely the right way to go. It sure made us +Happy Campers :) Being able to sleep right near key locations everyday permitted us to capture scenes in optimal light. We also saved a lot by buying our own food at the grocery store and cooking it inside the camper. Not a lot of places you can eat on the road unless you are satisfied with $15 Gas station burgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Definitely an awesome experience that we will repeat.

Been in Iceland for 15 days now and I cannot even put into words or pictures the incredible scenery I have witnessed..This country is beyond words..every landscape looks like a scene coming right out of Lord of the ring but on steroids...The magnitude of this place is something no one can even imagine unless they are standing right in front of it. I highly recommend anyone, not only photographers, to add this place to their bucket list. Believe me, You don't need to die to go to heaven..Come to Iceland and you will see what I mean. #iceland

For those interested, here is a group shot of me and the boys hard at work in Iceland. If you are wondering who took this awesome shot, I had set a backup camera on timer, and quickly ran in position in order to create this perfect triangular composition. To make sure the light was just right we used various reflectors to bounce the light of the sun in the Atlantic Ocean who acted as a Giant Softbox rendering all our facial expressions pretty much the same. Cost of living in Iceland is so high that I have decided to start my own little business, The good thing is, as soon as I opened up shop, I already had two very happy customers ( +Colby Brown & +Ken Kaminesky ) waiting to enjoy one of my Di Fruscia specialty.."Wieners on dry bread"..a real delicatessen amongst landscape photographers. Small Panoramic iPhone shot I took yesterday, Again winds are blowing pretty strong but the good news is everything should come back to normal tmrw morning..For now taking a small break with +Ken Kaminesky and +Colby Brown while the light is too strong..hoping for some clouds to go shoot the Svartifoss waterfall or will have to wait later on in the afternoon when it's in complete shade . Never really gets that dark here at this time of year so we have completely lost track of time, midnight feels like 8PM back home. I have a question...when do we sleep??

Sitting in a Gaz Station with +Colby Brown & +Ken Kaminesky waiting for the weather to clear..Never experienced winds that strong. Sand from the black beaches literally sandblasted our face severely which is a good thing because we now have very smooth baby skin :) ..We were just advised by a cop to stop driving west because it would be too dangerous, the extreme winds can tip the camper over and also damage the paint pretty bad. Winds are expected to die down tmrw morning. There is absolutely no way to shoot, first of all, the winds makes our cameras shake way too much, second, sand is the camera's the worst enemy ...so far not many images to show for but definitely a great life experience l'll remember. :) in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Vestur-Skaftafellssysla, Iceland
