This is the booth I'm designing for future art events like First and Mesa Second-Friday's. I plan to start building it in segments beginning this week. There will be three 4' x 7' rolling wall displays that fold out and lock together. Those will have fold out shelves, hangers, and vanity lights. Atop that will be a 10' x 10' art print canopy added for shade.

About the Artist
Jack Morefield was born on an army base in Alabama.  He moved with his family throughout Europe, until his father transitioned from the army into the auto industry, settling in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Jack was always better at expressing himself visually than verbally.  A self proclaimed

Eternal Thoughts - 24" x 32" Acrylic on Wood

Artwork history
Back in 1995, I carved my first entirely abstract free-standing sculpture from a solid block of clay. That sculpture was in the form of a life-size head but wildly abstract. The images of the works you see here were both based off that original abstract sculpture. In 2010 I was looking at it and thought it would make for a really good wall sculpture. So I carved the small colorful relief you see here. I liked how it turned out but thought it could have been much larger.

So over the last several years I've been drawing and painting matching 24" x 32" versions of each of my carvings.  This underlying drawing is for one of those paintings.

These images show a clay relief carving I did last year called "Historic Spring." I later painted the relief design onto a 3' x 5' canvas. These photos show the sequence from sculpture to painting. The sculpture shown here was carved in clay and painted with acrylics. The 2D painting you will see if you click through this photo set was painted with acrylics on canvas; another version I'm working on is painted with acrylics but on 24" x 32" x 1/4" board. The smaller one is being made to go with two other paintings I have in the series, Life Cycle and Life Cycle In An Abstract World.

+G+ with Brushes will be on vacation for the next week (please don't drop us from your circles for inactivity, we will be back!), but I have decided that it is a good time to share our "Artists" circle: it is intended as a circle of people who post their work in traditional (non-digital) media with some regularity. This is the circle we look through regularly in search of paintings to re-share (apart from our own streams, of course). This is a high bas clay relief carving I'm working on of my grandparents. I started this back in January, then put it aside while I finished a few other larger projects. This is an Egyptian tomb themed shadowbox made back in 2001. I used clay, wood, acrylic paint, paper, steel wire, and sand to make it. The bulk of the work was done in about 10 days. A few additions were recently made though including widening the piece to include custom wood framing. The changes increased the overall size to 14" x 12" x 3".

Anyone can request a unique themed shadowbox custom made by the artist just for you. Great for any occasion, birthday's, holiday's, special events, or just to collect. Any idea and any theme is possible! Contact the artist for more information.
