The day Hiroshima burned, August 6, 1945
B-San and Hiroshima, Life and History

Rewind, for a brief moment time, and dial it back all the way to August 6, 1945. Slow your time travel down and set the clock at exactly fifteen minutes past eight in the morning, Japanese time. And what you will now get to experience if you look up at the sky is the moment when an entire world shivered in pain, fear, guilt, relief, anxiety, doubts, death and disgust. It is the moment when an atomic bomb lit up the sky above Hiroshima. The moment when Miss Toshiko Sasaki sat down at her place in the Hiroshima plant office turning her head to speak to the girl sitting right next to her.

It is today, 70 years since this day. A day still worth remembering for what happened, and as a warning for what could once again happen. Some have claimed it ended the war sooner, others that all the hundreds of thousands in total of innocent civilians sacrificed in that bright wave of light and radiation and it´s horrifying aftermath, some how was less than the amount of people that would otherwise have died and suffered before Japan finally gave up. Truth is no one will ever know if that is correct, or if it was nothing more than a nation already mere moments away from winning deciding to take all its anger and hate and pour it down from the heavens in an act of two step revenge like the world has never before or ever again seen.

Either way, it was for the world, a collective moment and lasting devastation of horror, pain and misery that followed, it was on a scale entirely unthinkable. So many lives lost and destroyed in the blink of an eye that the global and national trauma somehow lingered on for decades and generations afterwards, so much so that after the second bomb fell, the world despite its many following wars and raging hate, ongoing conflicts and shortcomings have chosen to never again repeat what happened August 6, 1945.

The Six Survivors

It was perhaps best described by John Hersey's Hiroshima essay, a lengthy read which took up almost the entire August 31st, 1946 issue of The New Yorker. An Essay that takes you through that exact moment that you have now travelled back to, showing the world what happened through the eyes of six actually surviving Japanese civilians instead of the usual and carefully polished victory propaganda the world most often gets to see in the aftermath of any conflict.

It is a moment in time and history worth revisiting and experiencing now that his 70-year-old essay have been republished online by the New Yorker. .

As Mrs. Nakamura stood watching her neighbor, everything flashed whiter than any white she had ever seen. She did not notice what happened to the man next door; the reflex of a mother set her in motion toward her children. She had taken a single step (the house was 1,350 yards, or three-quarters of a mile, from the center of the explosion) when something picked her up and she seemed to fly into the next room over the raised sleeping platform, pursued by parts of her house

The Above was a short passage from John Hersey´s excellent essay.

To the six survivors that John talked to and wrote about, that moment of the explosion was as if the sun had descended down upon Earth, but after wards. After the shellshock that tore down trees and houses. After the burning heat, the soundless explosion, the fire, the light. After wards, when the radiation slowly spread, day was turned into night. The sun was gone and winter and night was all that remained.

And as such, before I send you off to read the entire 70 year old essay, I will leave you with the question one of the children that survived the initial explosion said.

The five-year-old, Myeko, asked: “Why is it night already? Why did our house fall down? What happened?”. And with that I urge you to read the entire essay in the safety and comfort of your home. To never forget it, and perhaps even consider just why the world still spend thousands of times more per year on building more and better weapons than we do on healthcare, sustainable energy, clean air & water, healthy food production, well fare, parental care, elderly care, education and equality all combined.

Air Pollution and our health
The factual Science of a Healthy Life

Science continually spits out more reasons in a never ending string as to why anyone interested in their own health and body should also be caring for a sustainable society and world.

As if it is not already bad enough with modern day Lifes annoying sidekick - air pollution causing cancer, asthma and respiratory diseases and crazy smog in a growing number of cities. We can now add dementia to the list of unhealthy effects that any unsustainable society will cause through air pollution.

Swedish researchers at Umeå University have uncovered compelling evidence for a direct link between air pollution and dementia. The run down is that if you happen to live in an area that leaves you exposed to air pollution you will run a 40 percent greater risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia compared to if you would have chosen to live in a city with healthier air.

We studied nearly 2,000 people over a 15-year span

The study, published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, followed 1806 people over a 15-year span while also accounting for traffic patterns in the northern Swedish city of Umea. All participants in the study was of age 55 or older and medically healthy when the study began. 191 were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and 111 were diagnosed with vascular dementia during the study.

The researchers accounted for other factors such as age, education level, lifestyle and body fat. This is however not a lone wolf in a growing sea of science, there are already a pattern of previous research all linking air pollution to a wide range of negative health issues, ranging from life-ending cancer to lesser issues such as asthma and respiratory diseases. Scientists have also in recent years started to uncover how air quality directly affects the brain.

We know that very small particles can enter the brain through the olfactory nerve and cause direct damage

Forsberg, one of the involved scientists said.

In other words, this study is one more piece of the puzzle that day by day grows stronger, urging us all to transform society, globally, to a healthier and more sustainable way. Not so much for the sole sake of Cecil the lion and his surviving family. But equally much so for our own sake.

For our own tomorrow, for our friends and loved ones today and tomorrow. Replacing unsustainable vehicles and petrol with sustainable electric cars, replacing coal with solar, wind, water, ground and perhaps soon fusion is not only about preserving wildlife and green pastures, it is about allowing us all to grow older in a happy and healthy way. Allowing us all to enjoy a long and fulfilling life without the burden of cancer and dementia, allowing young people and old ones to breath, to run, to make love and fuck without the burden of cardiac arrest and obesity, diabetes and unhealthy water and air to sustain our bodies. It is about us all being able to eat healthy food grown from healthy farming, to walk in green and clean cities free of fog that is already killing millions of people around the world.

A good and clear example of that is the US which have been leading the unsustainable way of life in the last few decades in the western world, and as a result it has had the worst increase in all neurological deaths – men increased with 66 percent and women 92 % between the years 1979 and 2010.

the homeless Invisible
inside out, the blind leads the blind

A few days ago, on my way to buy a few fruits, whipped cream and sugar free yogurt, as I walked inside the store I noticed a young girl in her twenties. She was sitting right by the entrance in the downpour of a proper dog rain that whipped us all with a free shower. Begging for petty handouts.

Sadly I had nothing to give her since I had no cash on me, but as I paid for my fruit I made sure to get some good ol fashioned printed money in return and so on my way out again, I gave her what I now had on me.
Well, this article of mine isnt about me giving her money. But while it felt good to be able to help her even in that abysmal and far too lacking way in that given moment. I could not help but to observe all the countless, never ending rows of people walking in and out of that store.

Well, this article of mine isnt about me giving her money. But while it felt good to be able to help her even in that abysmal and far too lacking way in that given moment. I could not help but to observe all the countless, never ending rows of people walking in and out of that store.

People walking in and out of that store with overstuffed bags, people all being overstuffed themselves.
People with money and too much food and all of them entirely blind to that young girl.

Unseeing hearts and closed off minds turned on, and while I stood there no one else gave her anything. In its own obscure way that little slice of time served as a pretty good view of our global modern world with too many having to much and to many having far to little.
And no I dont care why she was begging for money. Disability, mental health issues, unemployed, a gypsy, living on welfare that isnt nearly enough for anyone, was she a homeless and entirely without an income. Or any of the other reasons in life that could have pushed her to sit there.

My reflection is, does it even matter?

Tax unhealthy food through the roof and subsidize healthy food and farming

Is not reality that no one with a joyful and fulfilling, healthy life would ever willingly spend hours in the rain begging for money outside a warm comfy store.

And if that is basic reality (which it is). I have to reflect on the slightly and sadly decently sized pool of people in the world, not the ones that didnt see her. That´s sad enough, but even more so is the amount of people that raise their voices and actions to make unemployed people, starving and homeless, sick and beggars something even worse to be.

The ones that claim to be good people, caring people, well behaved, loving, nursing, religious and destined for heaven and well paid jobs, people that claim to be the better. The very same people that enjoy kicking downstairs, lowering wellfare for the ones that needs help the most, the ones thinking it´s okay to beat up beggars and homeless. The ones that think they are not suffering enough in their thinly veiled shelters beneath stairs and grottos.

The ones that think they should be chased off or thrown in jail for being poor. The far too many that somehow thinks that unemployed and sick should be punished even more, the ones that feel that underpaid workers should suffer more.

Those soul less people, the heartless, the bullies, the over paid, mentally and emotionally ill people that think others should suffer for no reason at all.

No, I am not talking about you. Because I am sure that no matter how you do life you would never kick downstairs. You are one of the many that would like to see a healthy and fulfilling, equal world for every human being.

I am however talking about the selfish bullies.

The ones that have somehow replaced the evil of yesterday, the ones that are todays KKK, todays nazis and slave owners.
They would most likely never associate with such horrible labels of evil. And they would most likely never even dream of agreeing with yesterdays inhuman views. But that does not change that they are todays confederate soldiers, for obscure reasons marching to preserve inequality and injustice, they are todays over privilieged and selfish, people that knows better, yet for some reason they feel that they deserve more than others.

They are the ones we should outlaw. The ones that should be taxed more. They are the blemish on our civilized world. They are the anchor that slows progress towards a better and healthier world.

They are todays wrong, just like slave owners and nazis where yesterdays wrong. Another reflection I had was that it certainly is time for all developed nations to tax sugar and unhealthy food through the roof. Allow people that enjoy eating shit to do so. But tax it through the roof and use the proceedings of that unhealthy food to subsidize healthy food and healthy, sustainable farming, benefitting all of humanity in the end, while still allowing unhealthy people to choose unhealthy food. And all the savings in health care, all the savings in life´s and bodies for people and society, use that to increase well fare, to provide better free health care to people with far to little income. Provide housing and free sustainable energy for every person lacking enough money to pay for it.

But of course, that pool of people that for unknown reasons never allowed themselves to see her, they would never want that. For them making a better and healthier society is not at all a good thing for some crazy disturbed reason.

A well, as I said, they are todays wrong. The ones lacking empathy, and as such, the ones not being truly whole, thriving, healthy, wonderful human beings. They are the ones needing help too for they are blind and damaged and ill.

One day, 3 workouts
The daily Science of a Healthy Life

Yesterday had me do a 3 workout split that went like this: Morning: coffee and water + a sprint based interval run. Midday: Triceps, Biceps, Abs. Evening: Hiit MMA that consisted of Kicking and punching at a high pace at first, and then followed by body weight squats and a slower, more yoga like approach to slowly moving between various martial art stances.

While that might sound like an awful lot.

Looking at it purely from the perspective of time it only occupied between 70 and 80 minutes of my entire day. And since we all know by now that we actually need to activate our bodies throughout the entirety of the day, I can not recommend this 3-way split enough. Not only does it allow your body to fully recover its energy levels from the morning cardio before you hit the weights. But it... more »

Not only does it allow your body to fully recover its energy levels from the morning cardio before you hit the weights. But it also allows you to round out your day with that slightly less taxing cardio based workout - keeping you healthy and active while you are watching tv or whatever in the comfort of your home (in my case I was actually watching some UFC while doing my own MMA routine).

So in the end, the time spent working out at the evening doesn't even keep you from doing your usual evening things all while providing you with the delicious bonus of doing wonders for your own fitness level and overall health.

And damn, this chimpanzee do know how to cook.

Once the chicken is done, we all sit down, eat and dine. And you can see that he enjoy his handy work, and greatly so. His English is a bit rough around the edges, but he is learning, and with the help of a waterproof 4k tablet that assists with real-time translations from our fluent English to his mix of English and native chimp tongue our conversation is amazingly smooth, and greatly rewarding for us all.

Of course, he is just visiting for the day. He sometimes do that, coming down from his forest home to BBQ, eat strawberries and to talk. He likes that, our friendly chimpanzee cousin.

Enjoy the summer people.

And if you are wondering what in gods name I am talking about, hit up our website for an article about the joy of cooking that chimpanzees (and other apes) have been found to enjoy - both making and eating. A joy and appreciation of cooking the food and eating the delightfully made food that rivals our own.

And yes, they are the chef´s, all on their own. In an evolutinary step like the one we once did when we mastered the fire, apes have been found to have started the same culinary evolution that before them, only us humans have done.

Fascinating, cute and amazing all at one. And I for one can not wait for the day when we get to sit down to a table made and enjoyed with an Iron chef chimpanzee :).

Dancing like a Ninja and painting like Van Gogh

Not only is our little brain keeping you upright as you dance and spin like a ninja master, breaking arms and doing jumping spin kicks, twerking your ass off on the dance floor, but it is also the wheel that greatly powers our creativity.

Some of us needs a total and conscious effort to create anything and everything. And for those, the prefrontal cortex is the master chief at play. Others, on the other hand, only has the first stumbling steps taking place in the conscious cortex, but then truly spins into high gear once the cerebellum takes over.

Surprisingly, not so surprisingly, that scientific look at what happens inside our brain as we engage in creative activity lines up incredibly well in what we all know from real life experience.
Some acclaimed creatives claim you need to force it. Treating the delicacy of creative thought and art like the conscious effort it is to change the bike tire. All while most other high functioning creatives, claim without a thread of doubt that their best creative work, only happens by itself once they have set things in motion and then allowed their mind to do other things. Creating something of quality in the fountain of inspiration that is found when going on with daily life.

Both processes, of course, involves multiple parts of our minds to be engaged. But one favours the cortex while the other resides primarily in the subconscious "little brain".

So, at the end of the day, surrender yourself to the truth of how your mind actually works and achieve your best creative endeavors yet. Or, as one of the men responsible for the scientific study that led me to write this article said.

“The more you think about it, the more you mess it up,”
Dr. Manish Saggar

Creativity that is, not life itself :)

Children bed time stories Book
Mothers little Boy - Childhood Dreams

A 4 chapter short bed time story i finished up writing and publishing earlier this week.
It´s based on an actual event that took place in Sweden, Summer of 1850 when a young boy befriended a wild Momma Brown bear and her two little cubs.

So fire up spotify and dream away for a brief moment as you read this little story tonight :). The first three chapters also includes an original Swedish poem written during the 1800:th about the same event. Well, unless you speak Swedish, view it as a funny, exotic topping on top of the short book I wrote in English (including this surreal floral i shot this spring)  :).

Enjoy the read and have a great little weekend too people

Mothers Little Boy, chapter one
You can read the rest of the book at our website, free of charge

Once upon
[in a foresty Norse kingdom]

Liten pilt i fjällskog gick:
Rosig kind och änglablick,
Munnen röd som tufvans bär…
»Kors! hvad jag är ensam här!» — tänkte gossen.

Och han stultade så späd
Mellan höga, mörka träd:
Moder hans i sätern var —
»Här är jag min egen karl» — tänkte gossen.

Svarta djur nu kommo två,
Lufsandes, dit han sågs gå:
Stora, grymma, lurfviga —
»Jag fick sällskap, det var bra!» — tänkte gossen.

»Men hvad är det för slags djur?
Den där stora tycks mig sur…
Om jag kunde fråga mor! —
Men det måste vara kor» — tänkte gossen.

And so it was that, one sleepy Summers day, that little Olle and his older sister Sara raced and played tag and hide and seek with each other. And before you knew it, their mothers home, and safe haven, was far away and before them lay, a sprouting, wild creek that lingered through the luminous landscape.

It´s water washed in a slow and gentle way over the stony bed and protruding rocks, leafs floated by, and in the air they could hear the buzzing sound of dragon flies and bees.
And there they lay looking down from a fallen tree trunk that stretched out over the creek, at the fish and frogs that jumped, chirped, and swimmed their way through the cold water that raced down from the ever snowy northern Swedish mountains, down towards the flatter lands and villages.

The children was all rosy tired from their games and fun and equal parts exhilarated and happy, until, all of a sudden, a deer came jumping through the trees and bushes, and with a giant leap it crossed the creek and ran up over to the other side. With water splashing behind it´s petite, yet agile frame, it set off in a wild, wild hunt.

The surprised siblings laughed at it all, and then.
Behind them and to the right, a momma bear, big and brown, came out of the trees, and with her, two little cubs.

They all froze up, children, bear cubs and momma bear. And with them, the frogs and fish, even the dragon flies, they all went silent, and no one moved as time itself seemed to slow down and freeze.

Until, the silence shattered when the older sister gave up an exasperated sound,

'*it´s a MOMMA bear, run Olle, run!'.*

But Olle calmly looked at the three animals and thought to himself, "well, they don´t look dangerous at all to me, and for all I know they could be wild mountain cows, yep, I am sure of it, because they do look like really big, brown and furry cows, and my sister is never right about anything, even our mother says so. And now that Sara ran back home, at least I have good company, and they will be my bestest friends!."

in the land of giants

My spider, this gigantic king of wildest little critters, depicted here as he stepped outside, caught in the intermixing of the awaken world and the fluffy clouds of a dream kissed good morning, he is of course not that ancient.

But, from afar and days long gone, an ancestor to our modern birds have emerged in China. And I am sure that our fluffy spider king does not mind at all if we for a second or two talk about these feathered beings and their discovery.
It is a brand new bird species that lived in quite a different time on Earth then what we currently inhabit, roughly 130 million years ago and as of now, it is the oldest known ancestor of our modern day living birds.

The scientists responsible for uncovering this ancient bird believes that it lived in semi-aquatic environments.
If you are curious you can read more about the chinese project and discovery in Nature Communications.

New sets of eyes for the origin and early evolution of modern day birds

"The new fossil bird Archaeornithura is an important find,"
Matthew Lamanna, an assistant curator at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History said.

Most importantly perhaps, the newly discovered bird species, Archaeornithura have now pushed back the fossil record of birds’ most recent ancestors by an additional 5 million to 6 million years.

As for the name itself, it is derived from the two Greek words, ‘Archae’ and ‘ornithura’, which, when put together means ‘ancient ornithuromorph’. The name was choosen in honour of Dr Meemann Chang for her continuous support of the study of the Jehol Biota. .

You see, while it is all wonderful going to the gym for a spinning class, or to do yoga at home twice a week, or to bench press new records month in month out. Our health truly needs small daily things to keep itself top notch throughout our entire lifespan.

No, this is not old wive´s tales, this is purely scientific truths.

From your lower back, to cancer, your longevity, your mood, sex drive and creativity, the amount of body fat you accumulate through life, the health of your heart, your joints and bones, the pace with which you loose bone mass - even your lean muscle mass gains and losses.

Breaking up whatever you do a few times per day, ever other hour or so, and doing something physically active even for just a few minutes brings with it tremendous health benefits, and as such, these small things are essential even for someone like me that hit the gym hard 5 days per week.

First out, the morning call. Served with a cup or two of hot, black coffee.

Every day for all of May (for all of life really).

You´ll start your day with black coffee and some water, and then choose to do, either a morning walk for 20 minutes, or a combination of yoga and hiit MMA morning workout for anything between 10 to 20 minutes. Feel free to pick what feels the most fun for you. Fun is important since this is not just 4 weeks of to do stuff. Life is not a worthless reality show that tells you to first drop 10lbs of body weight and then lets you run off into a hailstorm of Chicken McNuggets, Pepsi and beer so you add back 30 lbs of pure body fat in 2 months time.

No.

Life long health is not about your past achievements or failures, it´s about what you do from this day and all the way until that big old clock sings it´s tune and hopefully allows us to restart instead of just fading to black :).

So. you pick your wake up call, your way and then you enjoy doing it. And you keep doing it, because the ones that do, they are the ones that keep on reaping the benefits of a greatly improved health and body composition for the rest of their life. But having said that. When you rest, when you cheat, when you fail. You do so and dont guilt trip yourself to death, we are just human, and as such, we all fail at times. What is important is getting back up and moving ahead.

Hiit-MMA?

I will write a more detailed article for a Hiit-mma workout during May. But for now, if you have no idea what you do. Then keep it simple and simply punch 10 straight punches with each arm while you do your 10 body weight squats. And kick 10 straight kicks to the mid section with each leg, and 10 kicks in a circle going from left to right - right to left - with each leg. It is not about how you kick, it´s about activating your core, your ass, your tummy, your back, your legs, your heart and lungs.

Middle of the day stuff.

But, if you where thinking that a good start is all it´s about, then no, lifelong health is not that easy to maintain and improve upon.
So, between your breakfast habits and your evening/night gym/workout sessions you will have to stay active on a daily basis. Breaking up your sedentary going ons every second hour or so of sitting still.
No matter if you are at work or at home binge watching Netflix. And if you think about it, it´s not hard at all to stand up for 5 minutes while watching Game of Thrones. Do a few body weight squats, or shadow box in the living room. Do some push ups against the tv sofa.

My suggestion is this.
Ever hour or so, break up your laziness and get up, walk for a few minutes inside of your home or office. And on top of that, do 10 body weight squats, ass to the ground style. Once done, follow up with 10 push ups, against the floor or a sofa.

And finish it up by leaning over something, a sofa, chair or against a table or similar, use your arms to keep your balance, and then kick backwards 10 times per leg and go as high as you can. Dont do it explosive, this isnt at all about kicking something martial arts style, this is about getting your lower back, your ass and your tummy and hips working.

Repeat twice and you are all done with your intermediate mid day 'sedentary timeouts'.

And no, please do understand, this does not replace your regular, real training, this is the basic, small stuff you do for your health, because breaking up being lazy like this, several times per day, for every day of life. That has huge, positive health benefits and will also help you shave off some pounds of pure body fat. In fact, as for numbers, if that is the kind of girl you are. Recent science studies have shown how daily small stuff like this together with healthy food will lower the chance of getting several cancer types with as much as 40%, sometimes even higher.

So, for May, if you don't already do stuff like this outside of your gym, yoga, sports, start laying the foundation for a much healthier life and much-improved body composition. You might not thank me in 12 weeks, but you will thank me after ten years of keeping this up, and you will do so in a big way.

Enjoy and have fun.

Next week, i will detail how to kill it in the gym, legs, ass and tummy. And for the third week we´ll take a look at how to do a real hiit-mma workout, either for your cardio/strength workout, or as a part of your daily timeout workouts. And OH, dont forget the importance eating healthy food have not just on your health, but also on your body. If you eat junk, and train hard you will for sure get faster, stronger, bigger, et cetera. But you will only reap half of the health benefits you could. And you will loose hell of a lot less body fat than you would if you also took care of eating healthy food (and not to much food).

As Obama said (if I paraphrase abit :P): it´s time to stop talking and start doing, our globally mutual and wasteful behaviour has done enough damage as it is, and time is out for just talking about it. We now need to actually start creating a world that is far more healthy and sustainable then it currently is.

High up, in our ivory-like tower of glass, each evening we look out at the setting sun and how it after a long day of travelling, in the end, as always slowly dips each and everyone of it´s rays of light into the watery ocean.

The evening sky and rolling landscape change their hue under the traversing basking light, and in the water a rainbow of shades paints an illuminating backdrop to our good bye and good night to the day that was.

While somewhere else in our sheltered home.

A sound is heard, it is the shrieks of eagles high up above our heads, they are nesting inside our dome, and each day, as the sun sets, they return with sounds of their lasting song from the outside. Unlike us people that walks the streets of this shielded vertical city, traversing it on sky high elevators and trains, the eagles that too has made this place their home can easily pass in and out as they see fit.

We on the other hand had to pass through the big city ports down at the ground floor, huge polished air port like entrances leading in and out of our city that for every moment of every day and year were monitored and guarded.
I do not think that anyone for even a second believed that the ever present drones and artificial security was there to protect us from any outside threats. It was mainly for our own calm, to provide us with the emotional feeling that we were safe and protected.

That, and perhaps to keep short tempered citizens calm.

Inside the Dome

I look up, but i can't see the Eagles, I just hear them. And then, twenty floors beneath us, the midnight train approaches and catches my attention, I love the way the setting sun reflects upon the smooth surface of the driver less train.

You take my hand and we start walking, yet again. Our feets guiding us to the artificial water falls that provides the city with an endless loop of fresh and clean water. Water from which our man made lakes are kept alive, the water that the cities vertical, smart farms feed from and we all shower in. They also helps us generate electricity through the kinetic energy we gather from it´s violent free fall through our walled off world before it goes underground for a brief encounter with the natural ecosystem of the outside world that our water system is now an essential part of.

A watery world all in itself that also includes our free swimming, farmed fish.

Once humanity moved into these sky high cities, like fossil fuel, the unsustainable global fishing industry had already been outlawed too. But not only is fish a healthy treat, we also knew that keeping them around as a natural part of our closed off eco system had other substantial benefits.

Outside the glass walls, giant solar and wind panels hovers up in the air, tethered to the ground and the even bigger solar facilities that is scattered throughout the outside landscape. Our city of course complements it all by also collecting ground and air heating and energy from the outside world. You reach out and you pluck a few strawberries from the vertical pads where they all year round grows, we smile in secret since we are not really supposed to pluck strawberries up here.

And while we slowly walk towards the cliffs and beaches, allocated like if we were standing outside in a hidden valley somewhere, with trees and rocky cliffs and sandy shores entwined together in a fairy tale like creation. In the background, behind us, the pads moves yet again.

As we stand there, our toes dipped in the moving water and the still warming sand, the sun is gone and the system will now transports the never ending lines of strawberries back inside where they will get to enjoy a slow transport back down to ground inside a carefully temperated and perfectly humid night storage.

And then, once the sun once again rise up above the ocean floor, the strawberries will start their daily journey from the groundfloor back to the sky high ceiling of our city, strawberries, greens and other fruit, and the sun, all travelling together for the entirety of the day.

Haha, as always, I smile at the slight madness of it all.

5 million people.

That is the official number of people that is living inside this one gigantic building, an old big city block turned sky high city.

It´s own little Closed off system

Outside our walled world, you could see dozens of similar buildings, each one taking up the horizontal footprint of a traditional big city block, but all vertically housing 5 million people living in a perfectly sustainable environment. And in-between the sky high cities, untouched land where solar powered roads nestled their way in between the crops, trees, water and wildlife. Roads upon which only self-driving, electrical vehicles moved. To transport people, goods and crops between the cities.

And yes, dear reader. If you are curious, some do move, but surprisingly few ever choose to live outside our garden like cities, they ones that do end up making that choice, they all live by the same regulations as we do. Living a sustainable and healthy life, just outside our walled gardens. Some of them work inside the cities, while others never again return. But for most of us, these cities represents something of a healthy, and wonderful paradise compared to what Earth had been reduced to by human hands in the year of 2100.

Artificial burgers Say it ain't so!.

Meat producers didn't take up any traditional resources anymore, they didnt even exist.

Having gone the way of the bye bye Texas that all forms of unsustainable behaviour had, from fossil fuel to meat production and most of the traditional pulp and paper industry. Nor did we have a sugar, tobacco or alcohol industry. Neither did we over medicate healthy people with emotionally numbing medications anymore. A lot of things had changed for the better, and as a result, people were not just healthier and lived much longer, they did so being much happier too.

Yes, we still printed some things, and we still had a pulp and paper industry, but a much different one, and entirely sustainable with vast forest productions possibly having given us more forest then Earth had ever had, at least since the Dinosaours roamed these parts.

The little meat we produced was artificially grown inside the cities, and the cows that wasn't part of our outside worlds free walking dairy production had been rewilded since long. Not that we actually ate much meat anymore, it had caused to big of a strain on the elderly population, our general health and medical care with it´s negative impact on all sorts of health issues ranging from cancer to diabetes.

But most of us did enjoy the occasional treat, once a month or so, and let me tell you. Artificial meat taste as good as any old day BBQ meal ever did. And the fact that it was super healthy in comparison and so much less of a resource hog made it even better.

Show me the money

Other huge health benefits had been the clean air we where now all breathing, causing a massive uptick in general health and longevity throughout our biological lifespan. And while it had been to late to put an halt to the climate change our age of Anthropocene had caused. By now, i dont think anyone would ever want to go back, and nature and wildlife had settled for a striking comeback once we had moved inside and put an global end to unsustainable practices and energy productions.

The age of anthropocene was here and there where no reverting it. But instead of the dawn of man kind, it had been turned around in to a healthier world, a healthier man kind, and we where all winners in the end. Here on Earth and our spacebound colonies as well. But in the history books, the age of man kind would forever be remembered for how it had started, serving as a warning example of never again loosing touch with how we are but one ingredient in an important eco system that needs to be kept in balance.

Anthropocene

The word comes from the two words anthropo, which means “man,” and cene, which translates to “new”.

The meaning of the combined word comes from the fact that human- kind had caused a mass extinctions of plant and animal species, as well as polluted the oceans and lands, and even altered the atmosphere, causing  a range of century lasting impacts. Perhaps like other ages before it, it would be with us for milleniums to come

Well, there are many more current realities and scientific sound facts, that all has served as inspirations for my sci.fi near future fantasy.

But reality is, it´s our own choice between this future which I have painted here, or one where we are all fighting it out over the last puddle of fresh water. And I am sure it´s not just the people in California and India that would like to avoid even less water in their daily life :).

Truth be told, even the most stubborn greedy oil baron sees the writing on the wall, health and sustainability and equality is simply good business and ravaging Earth has run out of ground and time to keep on ticking. So rejoice - Like Mulder would have said, "the change is coming" =).

Enjoy your Earth Day, April 22.

From tiny molecules of water, long before the age of man and dinosaurs, a vile army of bacteria once set loose global mass destruction upon the face of earth as the bastard child's schemed to end the cycle of life.

But upon unleashing photosynthesis on the world, they did not just end one early cycle of life, they also, by freeing the oxygen trapped inside water made sure that life as we know it today would form.

Or as, Kevin Redding at Arizona State University in Tempe say.
"The extinction caused by oxygen was probably the largest ever seen, but at the same time animal life wouldn't be possible without oxygen."
Kevin Redding

So, today's photo of mine get´s a loving little dedication to that sweet thing called photosynthesis and those evil bacteria's we all owe our life :).

For many, coffee and sugar represents two superpowers emerged in an unholy alliance. But, just what makes this combo tick, and what is actually what. How does it affect your health and every day life. To find out the answer, we signed a contract with the previous couple to face off inside the octagon to determine who´s top dog and what they do to our bodies.

In the blue corner, Sugar

Pro´s: Sweet and petite, and pretty white.

Cons: Increases body fat, rots your teeth, makes you age prematurely, increases diabetes and cancer and Alzheimer risk. Does not provide fuel for strength or endurance - and does not provide sufficient brain juice.
Natures crack even makes you crave an endless array of more sugar when you eat it. That explanation comes down to our past cave men and hunter, gatherer lives - evolutionarily, our mesolimbic pathway reinforced that all the sweet things in nature provided a healthy source of carbohydrates (rich on easy to use energy and calories) for our bodies. While other taste sensations like sour meant far less desirable things. So, the more you eat, the more your dopamine and other neuro pathway signals needs to get triggered.

Which, ultimately is why it is so easy for people to over eat on junk food and why it feels so hard for so many to eat less junk food, not to mention to keep eating healthy food and say no to cookies, ice cream, soda, candy and sweets. Another reason why it initially feels hard to cut down on junk food is that a lot of people tend to get depressed when they start eating less sugar. This is however just temporary, sort of like a crack addict suffering withdrawal problems.

No, this is not just an issue for us Homo Sapiens, in a recent study, by Victor Mangabeira and colleagues, published in "Physiology & Behavior" it is reported that rats who had been trained to press a button to drink water, once exposed to sugar in the water pressed the button many more times than the rats that only had access to pure water.

In the red trunks, Coffee

Pro´s: Wonderful scent, toned, trimmed and athletic. and to boot, all pretty black.

Coffee also provides wonderful warmth and real energy for mind, body, strength and endurance.
It protects against cancer, Alzheimer, Parkinson’s, diabetes and obesity.
It aids your muscles and mind with real energy, creating a double whammy of good stuff for people that also keep physically active, all good and positive things for creativity, strength, fat burn and endurance. It is also a positive influence for your mood thanks to how it affects the production of some of our natural hormones, such as serotonin and dopamine.

Coffee have also been shown to protect against Multiple sclerosis (MS) which is a degenerative neurological disease.

Cons: It might make you sleep poorly if you drink it too late since it takes as much as 8 hours for coffee to lose its positive hold on your body.

Mutual con

Yes, there is one mutual big disadvantage to both.
The industry producing both sugar and coffee rarely takes care of the planet that provides their revenue, nor the health of their workers.
But in both cases, we the consumers can of course demand far better behavior from the producers by the shopping choices we make.

Conclusion

Skip sugar - always.
And get down with pure black coffee 4 to 5 times per day :). And, if your sweet tooth crave a sweet sensation, try some organic honey in your coffee.

Slavery, Kings and Pirates - a look at just how far we have come in a little more then 230 years

230 years ago, the world was rife with profit-hungry entrepreneurs and the seven seas and all their shores lay open for the ambitious.

Beggars, pirates, warlords, priests, lords and Kings, they laid to waste and took with all their might.

Yes, I know. By now you are thinking, well, dear Mike, is that any different from now? And in some ways, no, you are right dear reader. In some ways nothing much have changed, but gladly, the world is for all its remaining faults a far better and kinder place to live in today.

Our world have slowly grown a conscious and just mind, and slowly the world is growing more responsible and equal and healthy, just not yet without its obvious to all speed bumps and beauty spots.

But for now, let us take a walk through 1784, the year that the land of Vikings laid claim to a beautiful little island called Saint-Barthelemy that soon would be a central point of evil and deranged profiteering of inhuman views and slavery. .

Kings and Priests - profit was their creed

Carl Adolf Carlsson, The Swedish island vicar, a good Christian leader of his flock had the following to say about the African slaves of that time ”negern sådan jag i Västindien haft tillfälle att observera honom är knappt till hälften människa, resten är apa och tiger.” Till och med djur skyr dem, negrer kan därför utan problem bada i hajrika vatten.”

Which when translated to English reads "The negro, as I have witnessed in west India, is barely half a human, and the remaining parts is surely ape and tiger. Even animals stay clear and the negro can therefore without problems swim in shark infested waters".

Meanwhile, back in Sweden, the ruling king had made sure to collect 25 percent of the profit that the island and its slave trade would generate.

Now, in all honesty, while the island was an important part of the global Slave trade between America and Africa, Sweden itself only shipped about 0.14% of the unfortunate people that ended up being trafficked to America during more than 34 941 shipments. But that was of course 0.14% that should never have happened, just as how no one should, today, invest in bad health, inequality and fossil fuel.

Slaves were, however expensive to own, but like all property today can be rented, so could yesterday's abused slaves. and on the island, it cost as little as 8 daler to rent one slave for a full month. Other inhuman aspects of life, 200+ years ago was that slaves could be burned, whipped, hanged and killed for pretty much anything that their owners decided.

Yes, there where rules and law that dictated how to treat a slave. And part  of that rule set included that a pregnant slave had to be laying face down on top of a hole in the ground when she was whipped.

Not in any way ment to protect her own health, but instead designed to protect the unborn child, since the child after all was considered the rightful property of the slave owner.

The Swedish botanic Bengt Euphrasén described the process of whipping a slave in graphic detail. ”Varje slag smäller som ett pistolskott och stora skinn- samt köttstycken följa ofta med från kroppen.”

In English: "Every lash of the whip sounds like if a pistol was fired, often resulting in big chunks of flesh and skin flying off the body".

the end of slavery

The slavery on the island was put to an end, when Sweden, as the last of the European countries finally ended slavery in west India 9 October 1847. The remaining 523 slaves on the island was paid for by the Swedish state, since the poor slave owners of course had to be compensated for their loss of income - the youngest one, Rosalie, 20 days old, generated 19 daler for her owner.

Today, slavery has been put to an end in most of the world (even tho some countries, like India still have millions of slaves, and others, like Saudi Arabia treats the female gender as something far less deserving than the male population).

But as i write that, even if there were no slaves and no gender inequality, I, like many others would want to make the argument that underpaid and or unemployed people are today's corporate and national slaves, paying for their greedy masters profit with their own health and lack of fulfilling lives.

And while it is not directly comparable, it too of course needs to change. But for now, we can all at least find comfort in knowing that as slow as it turns, the world do grow more intelligent and caring by age.

Before the delicious and easy to do recipe, a short real life proof of the benefits of adopting an active and healthy life style (even if that is just a little bit more healthy and active then before). At 48 years old, Salma Hayek is, like so many other girls and guys, without a doubt much better looking, sexy and healthy then she/they ever where as a 20 year old.

"I never exercised my whole life, but now I do yoga,” Hayek told Net-a-Porter's The Edit. “I was always borderline chubby, because I like my food and, frankly, I like my wine. I have to say, I’m pushing 50 but I feel great. I looked worse in my youth! I’m in good shape right now.”

in other words, girls and guys. Worry less about your age and just get going. The positive change always do come over time, no matter your age and current fitness/health level.

Quinoa Quick Recipe

Without further ado, A tasty and very quick to do Quinoa based meal with some whole eggs, fruit and berries thrown into the mix (for the tasty yum they provide as well as the health and fitness aspect).

And as far as the animals (and products) go that all have a part in the meal you are now about to prepare. Pick (if possible) food from ecological farmers with free walking animals and less damaging productions (and healthier produce). There is no need for you or me or anyone else to support the less healthy, sordid and inhuman parts of the global food industry. So, if you have a choice and opportunity, shop with your brain, heart, and health.

Ingredients

4 Whole Eggs (Yolk and all, While some still believe that there is something unhealthy with the Yolk, it is by far the most nutritional part of the egg and, unless you have some medical issues, will only be beneficial for you).
Quinoa (your preferred serving)
Greek Yogurt (or another thicker and sugar-free yogurt if you so prefer)
Handful of Strawberries
2 Apples
A teaspoon of Cacao

Optional.
1 tablespoon honey

How to

Mix the Honey and Quinoa and either Bake or Fry until ready. (Hey, I am free riding chef so as far as amount of time and stuff, that´s all up to you)

Serve in a cup of Yogurt mixed with the Cacao and add the hacked and sliced Apples and Strawberries on top.

Enjoy your Eggs on the side and serve with Milk from free walking cows or water or a delicious protein powdered drink :).

Neither do we actually grow tired and creatively dull and life hating by age, all those things are all about life style choices too :).

Optional
1 tablespoon honey (why not grow your own even)

And now, the little mouse :).

The Mouse In our Wall
We play in the snow, under the shooting star

Told to you, as I once told, a mind and girly soul, so beautiful.

Inside the walls of our homes, and lives. There are Undraped windows through which we see both in and out, and at night I look out and up with you.
A shooting star stirs and moves the northern lights. Like a spoon through water, it moves before our eyes. Clear as day yet slightly obfuscated through the sheets of glass, the world is silent and it could be a dream as I witness the star cut through the puffy clouds.

And at night.
Some other times, there we are, walking through life's small moments and we are holding hands.

Together, we stand outside having walked amongst the falling leafs and the subtle snow.
Rain or sunshine matters not.

Looking in, through the of night, all chilly frosty glass, the burning lamps the pleasant light and warmth that moves and lives inside.
Is it empty we ask out loud, or is there someone looking out? Back at us. Do they hear our silent minds, can they feel our burning soul and warming hands.

In between these two sides. Neither looking in or out. Or perhaps, they do them both all the time.

There live a gnarly little furry mice that move about with his love and all their friends.

At night, you can hear them talk and hug it out. They move, play and dart around, inside and outside the walls that people build. Sometimes they walk our floors, sitting near, our sleeping faces.
We kiss and make a cute little snowy angel. Your arms whisp around and I kiss your pretty lips, yet again.

And right there. In the corner of my eye. I swear the little mice sits right nearby. Looking out at us as we hug it out.
And perhaps he too thinks the very same. Looking out and about, at us and all the shooting stars.

Life in the Anthropocene Vol. 07

Before we start this short journey of ours through the elusive trails that the biggest wild cat, the Amur Tiger (also known as the Siberian Tiger, and more correctly Panthera tigris altaica) have left behind it in Russia and China I would like to make one thing perfectly clear.

The Amur Tiger is in no way back on safe land.

The sharp decline have slowed down, the poaching have been halted (for now). But it´s rise back to life and sustainable numbers is still a very ephemeral thing and the Amur Tigers survival is still 100% at the mercy of the human race. We put it at the brink of extermination and we are the ones that, once we came to our senses, managed to give it the tiny glimmer of hope and refugee that the species now, slowly is clawing it´s way back to.

And in what can only be thought of as a slight twist of irony, for all his major faults and shortcomings as a human being and national leader when it comes to pretty much everything equal, healthy, peaceful and human rights related, today, the one man on Earth that has meant more for the Amur Tigers come back from the land of the dead is Russian leader Mr. Putin. .

The change started with Vladimirs personal interest

Due to human poaching, greed, illegal logging and other unsustainable industries and practices that ravaged mother Earth, human health and well-being as well as its prospering wildlife for mere profit in both Russia and China, the Amur Tiger was wiped out of existence in China more than 60 years ago.

And while the species managed to hang on to a thread and outsmart and survive the human onslaught in Russia, it´s numbers still dwindled down until just a few hundred Amur tigers remained alive in the wild. But as long as an animal species is smart enough to avoid all contact with us Humans and we don't destroy all of its habitat in our perpetual chase for more profit then, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.

For the Amur Tiger (and the even more endangered Amur Leopard), that hope rekindled in strength when the Russian President Vladimir Putin took a personal interest in its future a few years ago. And since then, through a combination of securing vast areas of land upon which it can safely prowl as well as coming down hard on poaching and illegal deforestation, and protecting not just the Tiger, but also its prey, poaching have plummeted in a big way, and the decline of the Amur Tiger is now thought to have come to a halt, possibly even, that it has slowly begun to increase it´s numbers in Russia, as well as re-establishing its long lost habitat in China.

It is as always near impossible to get an exact estimation of any wild animal population, let alone, a big cat as fierce and cunning at hunting and surviving and remaining out of sight as the elusive Amur Tiger.

So the current Russian census, the first one since 2005 when it was estimated that only 450 Amur tigers remained alive in the wild, have a steep road ahead, but all signs do point towards the big cats breeding and hunting in safety, and as a result, both increasing its habitat and numbers.

For the first time, last year, conservationists even managed to film a Siberian Tiger mother and her cubs inside of inland China where the species haven't been seen in the wild in more than 60 years.

The Long Road Ahead
Slow and steady, our hope continues to grow

While there is a long, long road ahead to safe land. And while the Amur Tiger, like so many other wild species today, might never again be able to co-exist with us human beings if we ever again lose our ways, there is hope.

Good hope even thanks to the hard work on both sides of the Russian and Chinese border to make sure that the Amur Tiger (and Leopard), as well as their prey and other animals in the region have a real future too in the wild.

The north-eastern area of China where the tigers family where spotted is prime habitat for both Tigers and other species with tens of thousands of kilometers of untouched birch forest. Much of if still intact despite decades of previous large-scale commercial and often times illegal logging, which, together with the poaching is what once killed off the tigers in the area.

Another positive change is that all the hard work in both protection as well as education and information slowly but surely is shutting down the market for fairy tale like products such as the Chinese traditional medicines, where the Tiger (and other endangered animals) are chopped up, ground down to powder and everything from the whiskers and eyes, bones and all other parts of the animal is made use of and served as a scientifically non-functional soup meant to boost virility. Or just displayed as high society status symbols and other meaningless trinkets.

So yes, in this world of turmoil, there is good hope, peaking out through valleys of mist and untold wonders :).

Just keep on grinding that fit, active and healthy lifestyle of yours.

No matter, if like me, you are years into it, or if you are just starting your first, slow baby steps, it´s all about the longevity of your perpetual workouts and daily lifestyle choices . Day in, day out for the rest of your life. That is where you find your health and fitness improvements.

Morning walk and MMA hiit cardio

No need to explain a morning walk, it is quite self-explanatory after all :). Just down your morning coffee and take a 20 to 30 minute morning walk as early as possible in the day. It´s as much about the health (and minor body fat) benefits of the walk itself as it is about the health benefits of getting your daily dose of proper daylight early in the day. So just go out and do it.

MMA hiit cardio however is my own label on this fun and intense martial arts based, cardio workout, MMA hiit cardio is all about you, and or your training partner, and a floor standing bag and then going all out explosive having some violent fun on the floor standing bag, kicking and punching in a pace that challenges YOU at whatever level you are at right now.

This is not meant to be a marathon, it´s not about getting in the way of maintaining or improving your strength and lean muscle mass, it´s about creating a sprint like cardio workout that aids you in burning body fat and maintaining or improving your lean muscle mass while also providing health and fitness improvements to your cardio performance.

So, keep the pace high and intense, turn up the music and go all out crazy with kicks, punches, knees and elbows for anything between 5 to 15 minutes. I´ll talk more about how such a workout looks like later in February and various combinations and "sets". As you can see, i did this one together with my morning walk, but you can do it right after your back workout too if you so prefer. Just dont do it immediately before lifting weights if your goal is to become more fit and toned.

Later in the day
Killing your back

Coffee and food and water and a few hours later in the day, it´s all about your big back muscles. While all muscles are important. If anyone would rate an individual's muscle groups from a health perspective, legs and back is what it´s all about. They are the biggest muscle groups and the ones that gives you the biggest health and fitness benefits if you keep challenging them on a weekly basis. A big, exhausting back (or leg) workout simply put challenges your entire body and pushes it to new strength, fitness and health levels.

Back workout
the beauty of challenging weights

My back workout consisted of 4 warm up sets and 12 kick ass heavy sets.

I always start my back workout with 4 lower weight standing row, barbell, sets. In my case, lower weight is roughly my own body weight but your mileage might be different. Stretch and walk and drink some water in between sets. You are there to workout after all, not to sit around and socialize in between your sets.

Back

Standing barbell row
4 warm up sets x 5 reps, @ body weight

Sitting row
3 set x 10 - 14 reps @ 260lbs. (Dont overdo it, it, like every exercise should be explosive and heavy enough to really challenge you, but don't go so crazy that you destroy your lower back, it´s easy to get minor pain issues with our lower backs after a few years of training the wrong way)

Standing row, barbell
3 set x 10 reps @ 297lbs + 5 reps of shrugs at the end of every set (i simply put enjoy adding these 5 bonus reps)

Chins (also called pull ups)
3 set x 15 to 20 reps @ body weight. No need to worry if your reps is lower then mine, do as many reps as you can, and repeat three times.

Shrugs, barbell
And finally, the last back exercise. Short, sweet and heavy, i love my back workouts :).
3 set x 20 to 24 reps @ 485lbs

Hoping that you had a great workout, enjoy your day and keep at it, tomorrow too :).

the science of health
to go from age 30 to 80 years old, how does that affect your cardio, body fat and lean muscle mass?

Your fears are more likely then not saying that you will grow fat and tired while losing lean muscle mass in both body and mind, no matter what you do. Right?.

Science will however,  say - no, that is not true

A healthy man (or woman) that is living a sedentary life (not being physically active in a daily physically challenging way by doing cardio and lifting weights week in week out) will indeed lose about 30% of his or her lean muscle mass going from a biological age of 30 to 80.  And the decline in cardio levels are even higher and more rapid.

But hold your horses and think about that for a while.

30 percent is a big negative thing yes, but 50 years of sedentary life is even bigger. And did you really think that sitting still and avoiding all physical, daily challenges, for 50 years would not make anyone weaker, slower, less durable and more fat?

Of course, you did not.

No one would for one second believe that anyone could get away with that.

So, let us not for a single second, confuse the effect that 50 years of sedentary life will have on any healthy person, with the hugely beneficial health and physical and emotional state the same individual would have - if they would, instead have chosen to spend those 50 years living a physically fit and active and healthy life.

Truth is, that same healthy person can do the same 50 year journey from age 30 to 80 years of age, and if everything in life would have been the same way, except that he or she would be eating healthier and staying physically active on a daily basis, that person would instead find themselves either improving their lean muscle mass and cardio performance, or keep and maintain it. Or. at the very worst, they would lose a handful of percent instead of 30 and they would keep their body fat levels at their desired amount, as well as maintain or increase their cardio performance.

All depending on their starting point and level of "fit and active and healthy" daily lifestyle commitment of course.

Short list of healthy, easy to do lifestyle choices you can start making today and keep on making for all of life

- Take a walk early in the day outside, for 20 to 30 minutes (we all need some daylight).

- Eat more fruit and whole grains. Eat eggs, berries, peanuts, slow carbs and protein rich food like sugar-free yogurt, free walking chicken, and fish.

- Avoid soda, sugar, additional salt, alcohol and red meat.

- Avoid low quality, fast carbs but do not ever be afraid of carbs from fruit and berries.

- Lift weights (roughly) 3 to 4 days per week.

- Get up and move around for 5 to ten minutes every other hour or so during the day, don't sit still and do not stare at a tv or computer screen all day long without those small active breaks. Not taking those small breaks will hurt both your body, health and eyes.

- Drink coffee but not after 17.00. (coffee is super for both your health as well as your workouts)

- Avoid smoking

- Do yoga, dancing or martial arts (or similar high intense cardio workouts) one, two or three days per week.

- take a very high paced short sprint run 1 to 2 days per week

- Have as much yummy sex every week as you feel like, all of life (it isnt just fun, it also brings with it health benefits and allows you to maintain your sexual desire and performance).

And if keeping your body fat level in check (or reducing it) is a part of your fit and active, healthy lifestyle. Then, accept this simple reality.

The quality of your food and physical activities matters the most for your health and fitness level. But if the quality is there and you already do cardio and lift weights week in week out. And you are still adding body fat - then eat less.

Your body will not be able to add or maintain it´s body fat level if you are working out and keeping physically active on a daily level and eating good quality food, unless you are eating too much.

The saying holds true, enjoy using it or loose it, and it holds true for all aspects of our body and mind and health.

Would we destroy building of historic interest?
Would we crash and ruin classic cars just for the sake of it?
Would we slash the old masters hanging in our museums?

From the Roman Saturnalia and the vikings yule to the Christmas Day truce of 1914 and all the way ´til 2014
In German the truce was called, Weihnachtsfrieden, and in French Trêve de Noël

Across the trenches where men from all sides dutifully had been killing each other for their leaders and their nations, at the eve of Christmas, from both sides, men laid down their weapons and for a few days, they laughed, shared coffee, played soccer and hurled snowballs at each other. I am sure, some even made a snow angel or two as french and English exchanged words and respect with germans. Not everyone embraced the spirit of christmas of course. Not because they did not believe in Santa claus or wished for christmas gifts of their own.

But, i of course dont think that anyone really cared about that in the christmas day truce of 1914, it was simply about being alive and enjoying and celebrating life and peace and each others right to exist and breath without fear of a bullet taking your day away. And so, for a few days mortal enemies celebrated christmas in the best possible way ever. They did it in peace and they they did it together with the very same people that they had tried to kill the day before, and soon would try to kill again.

General Sir Walter Congreve

The English general, Sir Walter was not one of those that braved the chilly winter to come up out of the trenches and wine and dine with the German soldiers. No, he did not want to risk any german with such a high ranking goal, and while his men engaged in a game of soccer with the german soldiers, he actually plotted to find a german sharpshooter whom all by himself had killed so many English soldiers that the general did not believe that even a dozen of any other german soldiers combined would topple his kill count. So, according to the personal letters that he wrote himself, he instead used the christmas day truce to locate the sharpshooter. ^

“My informant, one of the men, said he had had a fine day of it & had smoked a cigar with the best shot in the German army, then not more than 18. They say he’s killed more of our men than any other 12 together but I know now where he shoots from & I hope we down him tomorrow. I hope devoutly they will.”

How that played out in the end, i do not know, just as i do not know which side won the various soccer games being played. But i do know that the very first german and English soldier that braved their life and rose up from their protected trenches to dare approaching the enemy,in that moment they gave every person no matter side the best christmas present ever. And they all, for a few days, truly understood what is meaningful in life. Taking a life never is, giving life, peace, freedom, rights, equality and a voice, however, always is.

And no, the great christmas truce, was not a universal thing, it was not a giant cease fire for all. Which of course makes it even more remarkable and precious. It happened at some parts of the frontline, and it was individual people on all sides that created that peace, people, not nations and their stubborn leaders. Individual people dared the bullets and they created the real meaning of christmas right there in the flesh.

Christmas is not about religion, as so many today would like us to believe. It is not a christian invention and it is not about holy men and jesus toddlers. Not that there is anything wrong with you celebrating christmas for those reasons.

Nor is it about richness, language or culture. Nor is it about Santa claus or shiny new playstation 4´s. It´s a world wide thing that has been enjoyed and celebrated for various reasons and in various ways for tens of thousands of years. The one central theme that actually matters tho is, the joy and celebration of life. Real life in the flesh, the only real one that we are all living and hopefully enjoying, in the flesh, right here and now.

From the romans and their Saturnalia, to the vikings Yule which lasted for a whole twelve days - a christmas tradition predating the "jesus xmas" by thousands of years. (and combined, the reason why. in the end, the christian christmas ended up also choosing Dec 24 as the day of celebration, it simply made it easier to sell christianity to the ungodly vikings and their European pagan brethrens and the equally pagan romans), From christians and the pagans. all over the world and time, Christmas have always been a celebration of the gift that is physical life.

So whoever you are, wherever you are. I hope you had a wonderful one, and i hope that 2015 becomes a better year for you then it ever has been before.

but we thankfully call it 2015

And if you wonder why that is? Well the roman empire left after it a great many things. And one is the foundation for the calender that is today used by the majority of the worlds daily tongue and life.

Our current global calender took it´s first humble steps towards becoming a thing as early as BC46 when Julius Caesar (a kick ass roman guy and without a doubt my fav Roman emperor) decided that the out of whack seasons needed to stop.

The season where out of whack because up until that point the roman year had 354 days per year instead of roughly 365, so every year the seasons got a little bit more out of sync with nature (not that it´s helping us right now, but back then it did). The season where out of whack because up until that point the roman year had 354 days per year instead of roughly 365, so every year the seasons got a little bit more out of sync with nature (not that it´s helping us right now, but back then it did). So Good ol Julius added a bunch of days to that one year, and also decided that the roman empire needed to start tracking the sun instead of Moon to bring the current and future seasons back in sync with mother nature.

In total he added 67 days to that year, making it the longest ever known year, in the history of man kind. And then, on Jan 1, BC 45 we had the calender we still use, and a year with 365 days per year (roughly). Yes, I know. Todays Gregorian calender is not really credited to old pagan roman emperors, but the gregorian calender, is like so many other modern things nothing but a careful iteration, and the foundation for what we have today can be found in what JC created back then.

No pesky back and forth discussions between opposing stubborn politicians about what needs to be done :).

But before the "julius" calender which we all enjoy. There where others too, for instance, the Greek calender which became a thing all the way back in 776BC. And the greeks, as the cool and combative people that they where decided that to keep track of pesky appointments we had to have proper physically enduring games (and boy, do we need that today at all work places). so they funded the Olympic games, and the first one became their year zero.

And so, by that old calender, 2015 is/would be called, Year 3 in the 697 Olympic.

But, no matter what version you prefer. Or where you live, or what culture you eat and what particles you breath.

Merry xmas and a jolly happy, better then ever 2015 to you all.

And funnily enough, Minority report, is of course, just like this book, another great sci.fi read turned hollywood blockbuster by Tom Cruise.

and yes of course, not to forget, there´s a photo or two of mine too from this autumn included in this beautiful and visual book read :).

workout inspiration - healthy living
chest and abs + chins

When it comes to keeping healthy, fit and toned i have always maintained that something is always better then nothing. And that something should always be done as intense and challenging as possible. Simply put because your body and your health adapts to what you demand of it. Or if you so prefer to think of it as, what you give it.

And now, if you are one of the many that feel like i dont have time, i would like to, but i just dont have time so i better sit here for 5 hours watching tv until i fall asleep.

Binge watching game of thrones is perfectly fine. I do that too :).

So no, i am not going to tell you to limit your active life style to 3 intense minutes 7 days per week. But what i am saying is that if you are really out of time and energy in your daily life, dedicate at least 3 minutes to going ape shit crazy intense with your body. And after 10 years of doing so (even better if you start training more over time, perhaps even training like me and my gf do ) you will thank me.

chest and abs + chins, the workout

While doing my regular chest workout recently, it just felt way to good and kick ass, so for fun i ended up throwing in 3 super sets once i was finished consisting of hanging leg raises and chins. And while that of course have nothing to do with working your chest muscles, sometimes, mixing it up for nothing but pure fun and additional challenge is the small, out of place stuff, that keeps us fit and toned and healthy for decades upon decades instead of just a few months per year or in a far away distant past time.

bench press

4 warm up sets, i normally do 5 reps during my warm up sets, but i am enjoying switching minor stuff up for the time being, so right now my warm up consists of 10 reps per set.
5 working sets, 8-14 reps. As heavy i can go while keeping it intense and strict. The amount of reps is as many as i can do in that set, i simply dont have the strength for one more repetition, at least not that time and in that set. And the range of 8 to 14 is a good measurement for if the weight is to heavy or to light.

incline bench press

5 set x as many reps as i could muster, 8 - 12 seemed to have been the range. I haven't done incline in quite a while so this too is a nice change of pace for me. And these two exercises are really all i need right now for my pecs. I am neither looking to improve my strength or size, for me it´s all about keeping fit and toned and healthy and if possible improve my toned state a little bit over the future years. But reality is, i am really happy with my current health and form, and pecs for me doesnt seem to need more to maintain or slowly improve strength and size.

Hanging leg raises, super set with chins

3 set of each, around 10 reps per set for hanging leg raises and 15 to 20 reps per set for chins.
Well, i was pretty dead tired on the final set so perhaps it only ended up being 12 or 13 reps, i dont really remember right now as i am writing this, but this is after all for your enjoyment, to serve as a slight workout inspiration thingy. Or to perhaps inspire you to start working out, even if that is as little as 3 intense minutes per day.

cardio

All rounded off with a 20 minute intense hiit mma workout. Nothing fancy, just me kicking and punching on a big floor standing sandbag while keeping a constant fluid movement going with my feets - and yes, just like i lift weights, i (and my gf) do this all out, intense and challenging. Just the way you should train too.

And not to forget, the day started with a beautiful 20 to 30 minute morning walk outdoors once one to two cups of coffee had been devoured as the rejuvenating life saver that it is :)..

Tardigradous conversations with my gf
life in the Anthropocene Vol. 03

Outside the sun and the moon are both painting a very vivid and clear blue sky, sharing and moving across the very same canvas in broad daylight.

The light from the rising sun is sharp and beautiful today, perhaps not so much for a classically schooled portrait photographer, but the way it illuminates the branches and leafs, all the frosty still life caught in the breath of approaching winter.

There is only one simple word crafted to properly describe the natural scenery that lay unfolded before my eyes this morning.

When i opened the door and stepped outside earlier today, i was greeted by the chilly touch of wintry air and in near silence.

For a second.
Or even for a few, the only thing heard was the crunchy sounds beneath my feets, from the tree squeaking in the boardwalk outside our bedroom as i stepped out of the warmth and out  to greet the frost and chill,.

The leafs and grass that broke instead of bend beneath my feets.

And then, i noticed up  in our ancient and since long, giant pine tree that i could hear the chit chatter from the wild Squirrels that have laid claim to not just the surrounding forest, but our house as well.

They where probably wanting to know why i was up at this unusually early hour and perhaps they where trying to find out if i had considered how cold it had actually been for them during the night.

Yes, i am quite sure they scolded me for the past nights sub zero temperatures, telling me that i had to reimburse the poor Squirrels by hanging out food earlier this year then i did last winter :).

Well.

As a silent response to them ganging up on me, what they got, was to see how i went back inside, picking up my Nikon, and our 70-200 as well as the macro lens, stepping right back out in to the beauty of this frosty morning. With gloves on my hands and a jacket keeping me warm.

The Squirrels where now moving around high up in the tree and like it so often seems that truly wild animals somehow know when people are looking at them in ways they think is inappropriate, as soon as i zoomed in and started tracking them with the camera, they darted away, descending rapidly down the tree and branches.

Shouting out little words at me as they moved out on  a long branch and from there jumping through air to the next tree, one of our birch trees. I panned, zoomed, tracked and took a few clicks with the camera, not that i had any hopes of getting any photos in focus.

But the beauty of the frozen branches and the squirrels backlit by the sun as they wildly flew down the trees and branches, cascading little leafs in to the air as they moved like a desert storm through the frozen world, it was if nothing else a majestic view in all it´s simplicity, and a magical way to start our day.

And if nothing else, i knew i wanted to try and capture one of those incredibly vivid little moments for my sleepy gf that was still on her nightly date with sandman, tucked away i am sure in a sultry and quite sensual dream. (well, what can i say, that is what i always hope she is dreaming of, naughty is fun after all :P)

No idea if i succeeded of course, the photos are importing to lightroom as i write these words. Well, not technically true, since what you are reading right now is of course a re telling, because these words where first told to my gf when she finally caught up to me and opened her beautiful sleepy head eyes.

Words that i told, as i kissed her sensual lips good morning, to paint a window back in time. Words and a gesture of love painted against the backdrop of lifes very own slice of grandeur that in all it´s little moments played out this morning when i stepped outside.

And is that not what love actually is.

The vibrant beauty and raw unpolished positivity, lust and energy of life itself.

The very best that life is, all by itself, as wild and free as nature itself, a wild tree, never stuck in place, but instead growing and running wild amidst the frozen lakes and soaring eagles, untangled, untamed, wild, gentle, rough, naughty, sweet and soft and fluidly vivid.

It just is, perfectly as it is. Ment to be unrestrained, unchanged. Marvelled at and enjoyed for what it is, and not what flawed people desperately try to sculpt it to be in vain. It simply is and it cant be denied or changed, it can be bumped and bruised, and people can flee from it, but it cant be altered or contained.

Well, life and love and people, to me is a marvellous creation, walking hand in hand just as it is, never more and never less, and on mornings like this one, you have to wonder how anyone could ever not understand and love the entire nature of that "beast" that is life and love and people..

But then again, as a species we also walk hand in hand with our flaws and while our flaws are most of the time as beautiful as our very best parts, some people are a tad lost and would happily punch the nuke earth and all people button, over and over again and again.

No matter if it is something as natural and easy as love and life and sexual fulfillment, desires and real needs, heck as a world spanning species we cant even properly share things or acknowledge simple reality.

That too is true, but it is just one aspect of this wonderful life and planet. And like night and day needs each other. The bad in life and the bad people dont ever make life shine less.

It do create some interesting, and sad, facts of life.

And as a result, today we have a world where hunger still affects 850 million people around the world.

All while, if you feel like being a bit tongue in cheek. 1.46 billion people are a little bit more then casually overweight. Add to that, that perfectly fine food for hundreds of millions, even billions get´s thrown away year in year out.

But we also have a beautiful world, where each year, equality grow a bit stronger.

Where the knowledge that what we actually need is a more humane world, a healthy and sustainable world keeps growing stronger. Heck, even the pope and co have started to realize that the world need a more humane world and less abuse and judgmental views that, de facto only diminish life instead of making it more.

We are also living in a day and age where we break barriers like never before. The promise of clean energy grows stronger and closer every day.

And while we and our lineage have, for millions of years been earth bound, we now might just be decades from colonizing other planets for the first time as well as mining asteroids in space.  And to enjoy taking the mile high club to never before seen heights and places.

Today.

People that are choosing to live healthy lives have never before aged in such a graceful, healthy and young way. And that too just keeps on improving. Providing people with healthy, long, adventurous and fulfilling life´s decades after previous generations where all used up, dead and buried.

We also have people rocketing through space, skydiving from the black void up there, just like Eustace did just recently, when he began his dive from an altitude of 135,908 feet (41,424 meters) and remained in freefall for about four-and-a-half minutes. Before opening his parachute he had maxed out at a top speed of 1,320 kilometers per hour (822 mph).

Today, same sex couples are allowed to be married in more places and countries then ever before. Females are considered to be equals to men in their needs, sexually, emotionally, intellectually in more places and mind´s then ever before.

Not only are both genders considered equals but girls are allowed to say both yes and no, to every aspect of life, love, sex and relationships.. Well, not every where and not in every mind, but in a growing number of healthy and sane people (and countries)

Solar and other sustainable technologies are not feverish made up dreams of promise anymore, but actually fully working technology that rapidly improve. And so forth.

Yes our world still have lot´s of issues, way to many even.
But they are shrinking and rapidly so. But sure, there are still abusive and backwards people, insane or just confused or evil, call them what you want.

Our species and planet is still plagued by people that are stubbornly working against all those sane and wonderful changes, trying in vain to dial back the clock to a more unequal, unhealthy and sad period of time without real rhyme and reason or empathy and fulfilling pleasure for all. Some even maintain that women cant legally drive a car.

But you know what, let them waste their own life away, fading away in the light of the inevitable promise that is the future.
.
You cant stop the ocean from moving, it always carve it´s own way through time, and so is fortunately life on Earth doing to, always improving.

Life is wonderful, and so are you, so make it more.

The door opened with the familiar digital beep as the customer nodded and turned towards his table. And through it the tunes of street music launched it´s assault, like a hymn of madness and pulsating life she could hear "Machine Head" churning away the nine minutes long "Wolves" and for a moment her spirit lifted and a sense of elated joy took hold of her mind and heart, dancing and moving with the wild chugging of music as she handed the next customer their cup of coffee. Customer number 47 she thought to herself and with a chuckle she thought of the never ending line of coffee being handed out as a string of pearls and swines romping around the globe, never ending, always growing the line of pearls and swines danced through life.

One black
cup of coffee and a smile please

Her mad thought bursted out in a spontaneous laughter, almost making her spill the warm coffee all over her petite and sensually shaped feminine hands and sculpted nails.

A voice pulled her back to the room, and there he was "One black cup of coffee and a smile sweet girl", She smiled a real smile this time, from her toes all the way to the beautiful caramel chocolate colored eyes. "Coming right up boy". They had known each other for more then three years by now. An instant and magnetic attraction on all levels, sexual, intellectual, emotional and more. Something about him made every fibre of her being come alive. And not just in that familiar sexually loaded way, but she felt at ease. Alive and burning bright, happy, thrilled, turned on, calm, at home and wild, tamed and set free, all at the same time.

No matter what they talked about, no matter what they did or how her day had unfolded otherwise, his presence was ever there, in spirit, mind, body and soul, even when he wasn't physically around.

Haha, it is pure madness she thought, but oh so wonderful and unlike anything she had ever experienced before. And most remarkably of it all was that she knew that it was entirely mutual. She had always known that, long before the first kiss ever happened.

As he took the cup of coffee their fingers touched and a jolt of pure happiness and raw, unadulterated passion surged through them both. With eyes all sparkly from the smile he felt inside he let his fingers trail hers for a brief moment as he whispered, "tonight?". Just as she was about to nod with anticipation, the radio buzzed to life all by itself and a scratchy old sounding recording full of static and noise, screeched out

"A canvas tent, close flapped and secure was erected and inside the tent a fire started…Fitting a big canvas affair that had the appearance of a diver's helmet on the head of "Big Chief" Mason, a full-blooded Indian from the Walpole Reservation, Canada, Charles P. Salan, then sent the Indian under the flaps into the smoke filled tent. The smoke was thick enough to strangle an elephant, but Mason lingered around in the suffocating atmosphere for a full twenty minutes. He came out of the tent 'as good as new'"

They simultaneously laughed, as their eyes still held each others gaze, and the customer right behind her boy, looked just as surprised, as he spoke - "That was odd?, I have been buying my morning joe from you for years and i´ve never heard even a beep from that radio before? Did you fix it".

No she replied, that was truly odd, odd but funny, i thought that old relic was dead and buried since long. A well, i guess, everyone and everything has a last hurrah in them.
The man nodded back, "I think you are damn right about that, we all have a final hurrah, yes we do".

And as abruptly as the broadcast had started, the radio went dead silent with a final eruption of white noise reaching out of it´s vintage internals, and with the sound, the electrical light that had jolted back, illuminating it´s dials once again, like in yesteryears, faded out to black as well. As if a ghost of electricity had turned around in it´s deep sleep, awoken for a brief second before the mythical ghost of sandman once again pulled the blanket over it´s slumbering face..

Grow a brain - the state of the world

As of September 22 787 Rhinos had already been illegally killed in South Africa during 2014, to sustain the need for superstition and meaningless trinkets on display amongst the wealthy and selfish.

The price for raw Elephant ivory in China was $2,100 per kilogram. and that better then gold economy is of course the primary reason why more then 100 000 Elephants have been illegally killed in just 3 years.

Dont turn a blind eye to injustice and stupidity people, no matter if it is about equality and sexual pleasures, the environment, your income, same sex rights or wildlife. Things improve as we shine a light on what is wrong, and for every year there are less things wrong in this world. So keep on talking, keep on thinking and keep on growing as human beings, enjoying this ephemeral life.

Black holes and the bright shiny sun(s)
140 million stars centering one massive black hole, the size of 21 million suns combined

Outside of our perfectly manicured garden, wild tigers and other felines roam about in the wild unknown, sometimes you might feel or hear them, invisible but ever present, and at even rarer times, life smiles at you and gift you with the opportunity of their beauty to grace your eyes.

Visible or not, you always know that they, just like wild brown bears and the shy wolf and wolverine, the hawk and the eagle are always there. Watching, learning, waiting, living their life, equally curious about you as well as cautious.

Just like your fellow human beings never vanish just because they are temporarily out of sight. And up there in the sky. The sun and the moon do the same dance, from dawn to dusk, through all of man kinds history. Living life´s of their own no matter if we see them or not.

And far beyond our moon and the sun. Other galaxies roam about, building little birds nests and mountains of space dust. A sea of wild flowers growing in the light of another star, unknown, unseen by our eyes, but always there.

In one such galaxy, called M60-UCD1 (such a sexy name, right?) in the center of what actually is quite a tiny galaxy, relatively speaking it is tiny for a galaxy, a giant black hole whirls around, spinning in the center like a magnetic wheel holding it all together, in total, this black hole, holds the same mass as 21 million Suns combined together.

21 million suns merged together? think about that for a second or two as you down your cup of black coffee.

And if you think that is an incredible number all by itself (and it is), unfathomable even, then consider for another second as you take a bite of your breakfast sandwich - butter, Cheese and tomatoes? (if not, that is a delicious way to eat a sandwich).

The closest neighbour galaxy to M60-UCD1 has a black hole that holds the mass of 4.5 Billion suns joined together. And some scientists are starting to think that these two massive black holes and their entire surrounding galaxies are about to join forces.

Not that it actually matters right here and now, not this little friday at least, not for us. But it´s still an amazing thing, all the life that keeps on ticking, living, growing, being and enjoying life as it is, no matter if we see it or not.

have a great weekend everyone.

the Sage and fools of yesterdays and Tomorrow

Each yesterday serves as a worn manual of life already lived, lessons learned and ignored, joys and sorrows made, experienced, forgotten and remembered.

Sometimes the yesterdays lived and revisited are nothing but an anchor  holding us down to the abyss of darkest waters, steels and chains to keep us from living today and tomorrow. Used as tools by others and ourselves to prevent life from being more. But sometimes those past days already lived hold the sweet spots of what was actually the best moments of our life and when they do, those moments if not ignored, but instead remembered and welcomed, can be a stepping stone to take whichever turn we actually wish and want and need the rest of our own life to be to make it more instead of less.

The sum of it all is tho, that life is lived today and shaped in the wake of tomorrow and born from all of life´s yesterdays. And the necessity of life, is not other peoples words or opinions, but your own actual needs.

There are no books and life coaches, no priests or leaders, no neighbours and spouses, lovers or children, teachers, friends and foes, no proclaimed do´s and don'ts of others, that can decide what another human being actually feels and thus truly needs to have lived a fulfilling life as close as it is possible for that person to do so. The only thing that matters to life´s fulfillment for each and everyone of us, is the moments in life that makes it truly feel more to each and one of us - instead of less.

So whatever your yesterday was, no matter others yesterdays, no matter your today.

Make sure to fill your tomorrows with as many moments that makes life feel more - to you (and to give that same freedom to all else)

dancing together, in a sea of daisies
Fit, healthy and active, leg and abs, vacation workout

Sometimes we mix it up by going heavier with our workouts, sometimes there is less weights, more intense workouts, or less intense and more rest in between each set. Some times there is more sets, sometimes less sets.

And sometimes we simply mix it up by going a tiny bit different.

Working out and keeping both healthy, fit and toned is about keeping at it during the entirety of your life span, or at least for as long as you are interested in keeping fit, healthy, toned and active. There is nothing spectacular about this workout per se. But it was vacation time, incredible heat and warmth and lot´s of wonderful leisure. And it still kicked our legs and ass the proper way. So perhaps someone else will find a good amount of inspiration here to mix it up and as such keep chucking away at the never ending mountain climb that we all have to do on a daily basis to keep (y)our health, body and mind in a perpetually healthy and fun state.

Squats - warm up

The warm up exercise for the day 3 set x 5 reps of light weights. You pick and go what suits you, light enough not to kill yourself, but with enough weight to get your entire body working in a safe and easy way

Dead lifts - warm up is all done, and it´s time to get real

Increase your weights to a level where it´s still not 100% of your capacity, but enough to tell your body it´s time to work hard. In my case i found this to be a suitably easy weight even for a hot and draining warm summer day. Yet not light enough to let my body think we where just fooling around.

2 set x 5 reps (130 kg/286lbs)

Increase the weight once again, still not 100% of your capacity, but even more challenging then the last two sets.
The reason we keep doing 5 reps is simple, you strain your body due to the weight and the challenge that is deadlifts, but by keeping the number of reps down to 5 you are not exhausting yourself in every set.

2 set x 5 reps (150kg/330 lbs)

The last 3 sets are the real ones, and you can now set the weight as high as you can safely go today. And the number of reps should be as high as you can go. But if you start doing more then 12 reps that means the weight is to low. So for the last 3 sets, go all out .You know that you´r legs and toned ass will thank you later on. Not to mention that Deadlift is the Queen of exercises. Squats are usually called the king of leg exercises, and perhaps it do challenge your legs and ass a single % more then deadlifts, but on the other hand. Deadlifts will challenge your entire body. From your butt and legs to your lower back, upper back, your neck and arms and shoulders and tummy. So give it your all and see your entire body and health improve.

3 set x 10-12 reps (180kg/396 lbs)

sprint run - the out of place, weird exercise

You of course typically do not do sprint runs in the middle of your leg workout. But this is part of the mixing it up part. And when you sprint for short distances and close to or at your max speed.
You´d be surprised of not just the health benefits to your bones and heart, lounges, diabetes, body fat and other things. But also how much it actually involves your ass and legs, and entire core of your body. In short, short distance sprint runts at or close to your max speed is surprisingly similar to doing dead lifts and squats. And as such, whenever you feel like mixing up your leg workout. dont be afraid of throwing in a few short 100m dash sprints.

3 x Short, 100m sprint rush as fast as you can go + an equal distance of lower paced jog in between. And when i say, as fast as you can go, i do mean exhaust yourself at 90% to 100%. Do not hold back.

Squats - the king is back

Dont kid yourself, after 3 squat warm ups, lots of dead lifts and 3 sprint runts you will have to lower your weights compared to what you normally do. But that doesnt change how wonderful squats is. Neither from a health perspective or when it comes to building that hot and sexy girl/guy ass and legs. So this time, pick a weight that feels like it will kill you for the day and go all out. Just as with dead lifts, if you do more then 14 reps it´s way to light and you should increase the weight, but to avoid the risk of injuries, if you cant do more then 8 reps, lower the weight slightly.

3 set x 10-14 reps as heavy/light as you need it to be to hit those reps, and short on rest in between sets).

lounges with barbell

You can of course use dumb bells instead. But we used a barbell. and like with squats, i´d be very surprised if you didnt have to lower your weights by now. In fact, if you dont, i´d say you´ve been holding back earlier on :P

1 set x 10 reps, repeat for both legs straight away until you have reached 5 reps per set, and then you take off the barbell and do one more set per leg without weights.

mma lounges - the second, mixing it up exercise

This was just for fun. "lounges" without weights, but with punches on a boxing bag for each rep. Alternate yours leg between every rep.
Do a straight punch as you do your lounge step out movement. And then you do a cross at the lowest point of your movements, and on the way up you do a hook to the bag and dont hold back on the speed and power in your punches. Finish with a powerful knee to the bag before doing one rep for the other leg and continue until you are all happy and good :).

tummy - hanging leg raises

3 set x as many reps as you can go. If it´s to hard for you to do it with your legs straight out, just bend your knees and lift only your "knees" to your chest.

All done!. Hoping you enjoyed this workout as much as me and my gf did when we crushed it :).

The photo is one more capture from the magical summer of 2014 But since i felt that the summer album is starting to have to many photos and you can also see the first early bird days of Autumn outside i decided to put this one in the Autumn album :).

Slipknot - The Negative One [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Once upon a time, in northern lands and forever lost in the middle of a frosty winter, when the flakes of snow were still falling like whitest feathers down from the darkling sky, a queen whom we shall give no name, because her name has been since long lost, like names and memories so often are, was sitting right next to an open, man sized, window. Her mind going astray as she was sewing without really paying attention to her needle, fingers and the growing quilt.

Instead her eyes kept looking and wandering out through the window, searching beyond it´s frame of blackest ebony. whilst she soaked up the calm beauty that the falling snow provided her contemplating mind. As the flakes danced beneath the softly swimming and always turning northern light, all of a sudden she haphazardly pricked a finger deep with her needle, and three little drops of blood one by one, emerged from her raptured skin and slowly they fell down upon the fluffy snow, as silent as a flake of snow they hurled through air before landing soundless in the window frame.

And to the queen, the red looked for some reason, quite pretty as it first fell as in slow motion and then to lay down on a white pillow to spread it´s wings and fingers upon the snow, translucent and contrasting against both white snow and the dark wood found in the frame of the window.

As she saw it unfolding, a stray, perhaps even odd, thought went through her mind as it so often does for most of us. Emerging from somewhere hidden, in the splitting of a second, with no rhyme or reason the oddest thoughts comes at times to play inside our beings.

"Would that I had a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the window-frame."

And as the tale is now told in books and movies, face to face, it came to be that no more then 7 month after the night in question, the queen who had by all accounts already been pregnant without ever knowing so, gave birth to a little daughter, a child who´s skin was as white as snow and porcelain, not a blemish or hint of other tones, and her lips was as red as the blood her birth let loose, and upon her head,a few strains of hair was already as black as blackest ebony upon white porcelain.

Such a child could of course not really go unnoticed, even if she had not been the Queens only child in life, and soon after her birth she was known, far and wide throughout the land as the girl Little Snow

And like snow covers the greens and flowers at the end of autumn, when the child was born, the Queen soon after died from giving her hearts entire strength and life to her one child.

Some of course saw it as a bad omen, and others thought none the more of it. And a few even whispered of curses and demons in the villages both near and far. Accounts even tells of a witch or two that met a grizzly end, or perhaps, they where just ordinary women, falsely accused as so often happened in days now lost.

After a year of mixed feelings, the mourning of his dead wife and the joy and celebrating of the new heir and child. the old King went on, found new lovers and the pleasures of the flesh of numerous willing ones, both high and low they where, until he one day took to himself a new Queen.

She was a beautiful woman, so much so that he and many others all had courted her, with words, gifts and token of lust and sometimes, even love.

Strikingly gorgeous and quite feminine with limbs so petite and delicate, like the rarest of flowers, she was as proud and haughty as she was beautiful and the king made for a suitable choice, a choice of her own vices and desires and not a husband by others will and doing.

Despite her appeal to all men and women, and lovers of both sexes, her heart could not bear that anyone else should ever surpass, or even come close to her own beauty. And i tell you now that if someone could peek inside her delicious skin and figure they would see the dark brooding demon that had long festered and thrived inside her heart and mind. Consuming nectars of her delicious blood, lust, physical pleasures, soul and mind, infecting her self esteem and taking her self image a sensuous slave, even her orgasms would send shivers through her delighted master.

And oh how the demon loved his sensual host, a body and mind so delicious, rich and ripe with the pleasures of willing lovers, men and women all provided countless of devouring fun.

And in her bedchambers, the kings new wife had a wonderful, and quite enchanted, looking glass, and every day , when she stood bare naked or fully clothed in front of it, she could not keep herself from gazing at her own beautiful build.

Day by day she would slowly drown in her own eyes, cheek, and sensuous lips, the curvature of her hips and firm breasts, the feminine tummy and firm butts and legs. Until the demon inside reared it´s head, poked and probed and she once again, had to say

"Looking-glass, Looking-glass, on the wall, Who in this land is the fairest of all?"

the looking glass would of course - as always, completely honest tell the truth,
"Thou, O Queen, art the fairest of all!"

Answers that both demon and the queen for the moment, quite enjoyed allowing them both to close their eyes and dream with comfort. A beautiful woman and her master, deep inside.

And it is, especially so when already having lived an already rich and rewarding life, when the small and seemingly ordinary, every day stuff like kissing someones lips, touching their strands of hair and skin.

When showering together and working out in the gym and creating adventurous and spontaneous food and thoughts in the smallest moments.

When an encounter with a loud mouthed snake, bumblebees and hovering dragon flies sniffing the garden flowers. The flow and serene tranquility of watching a movie together.

When the feel of the worlds best vanilla ice cream melting on our tongues and lips and the aroma of brewing morning coffee creates perfect moments no matter how they enfold. When laying down by serene summer lakes listening to the seagulls never ending conversation, watching them float by on streaks of wind and the fish is jumping over the surface of the lake.

When enjoying calm evening swims together makes your heart entirely happy. When waking up and going to bed fills you with joy and calm and when making love entirely freely with unrestrained yum makes body and minds on all involved reach places  never seen.

When all those simple things and so many more somehow manages to eclipse the sandy shores of all your dreamed up needs, wishes, hopes and joy without ever trying to be anything more or less then what it is.

Life and the person, relations and everything in between enjoyed as it is and for what it is all while, somehow you are happier and more complete and calm and satifisied then ever before. Even beyond your every hope. When unimportant details matter not and never takes away from the enjoyment of all the little things that person is.

That is when you know that you have climbed the mountain of life and found it´s real gold just as it is in that person (or people) that you are walking with.

This summer, i climbed that mountain and this little simple image was one of many shared moments this Summer (and some obviously ended up also being photos) that one by one, all made life more radiant and complete then i ever thought it could be.

For me, in my long and happy life, to have climbed that mountain and reached a place i never thought existed, that is beyond words in every little way.

Life is great, and with the right, great company even more so - share, enjoy and do it all  by your own needs, filling your own heart and mind, soul and body with yummy fun and life loving pleasures. What others think about what makes you the happiest you can be in life, that matters not =).

photography +Rob Dweck

A summers morning and the scent of moist dew kept you company amidst the fluttering song of birds near, and far away hidden in the distance, an owl kept calling for her mate with the regular beat of your heart.

Your legs dangling from the wharf where the boat lay moored and your toes barely gracing the surface of the water, as if not to disturb the clear, silent mirror that was it´s reflection. And then you smiled at the sheer beauty of all that is life.

Gorgeous work by Rob.

Enjoy your day all of you, and now i am off to a lake side view myself :).

Here we are, more than half way into March and I'm just now doing my first G+ post of 2014. I'll skip the excuses and just apologize for my long absence. Hopefully I'll be around a bit more in the near future.

I'm also apologizing for posting this image once again. I'd love to post something new, but it wasn't much of a contest when it came to choosing an image for this years edition of the +Plus One Collection. Of all the photographs I made last year, I consider this one my best.

There's still time to submit one of your images for inclusion in the book that will benefit The Samburu Project (http://www.thesamburuproject.org). All of the submission info can be found at https://plus.google.com/+IvanMakarov/posts/c54Y13Ljif2.

the far away tower
the tomorrow that was today, climate change and the state of the Caribbean Coral Reefs

As if global warming, wars, and major wildlife extinction, famine and human caused air pollution isn't bad enough, our ways of life have also caused the Caribbean corals to suffer a decline of more then 50% since the 1970s. So devastating in fact that today all that remains is about one-sixth of the original coral cover

The primarily reason is entirely man made and not a natural decline, a huge contributing factor is the loss of grazers in the region, according to the latest report by the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Status and Trends of Caribbean Coral Reefs
1970-2012

As the study is called, is the result of three years of work by 90 experts overlooking and analyzing over 35,000 surveys conducted at 90 Caribbean locations since the 1970, including studies of corals, seaweeds, grazing sea urchins and fish.

But, as bleak as that simple reality sounds. Just like human caused and deadly air pollution and global warming can be halted and in some regards, reversed if we take responsible and appropriate action now, so can the decline and eventual death of the Caribbean corals be averted by restoring the parrot fish populations and improving other environmental factors, some already mentioned, such as putting an end to overfishing and excessive coastal pollution, as well as reducing the negative impact our unsustainable fossil fuel industry is having on all life down on Earth. In fact, everything we do to reduce the on going climate change onslaught will also benefit the health of our oceans, fish population and thus the Caribbean corals helping them both to recover as well as make them more resilient to future climate change impacts.

The numbers
what nature provides and we seem inclined to turn to ashes

The Caribbean is home to 9% of the world’s coral reefs, which are one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. The reefs, spanning a total of 38 countries, are vital to the region’s economy.

They generate more than US$ 3 billion annually from tourism and fisheries and over a hundred times more in other goods and services, on which more than 43 million people depend.

Chapter 12

In consequence of an agreement between the sisters, Elizabeth wrote the next morning to their mother, to beg that the carriage might be sent for them in the course of the day. But Mrs. Bennet, who had calculated on her daughters remaining at Netherfield till the following Tuesday, which would exactly finish Jane's week, could not bring herself to receive them with pleasure before.

when Answers

are not propitious

ones wishes

Her answer, therefore, was not propitious, at least not to Elizabeth's wishes, for she was impatient to get home. Mrs. Bennet sent them word that they could not possibly have the carriage before Tuesday; and in her postscript it was added, that if Mr. Bingley and his sister pressed them to stay longer, she could spare them very well. Against staying longer, however, Elizabeth was positively resolved—nor did she much expect it would be asked; and fearful, on the contrary, as being considered as intruding themselves needlessly long, she urged Jane to borrow Mr. Bingley's carriage immediately, and at length it was settled that their original design of leaving Netherfield that morning should be mentioned, and the request made.

The communication excited many professions of concern; and enough was said of wishing them to stay at least till the following day to work on Jane; and till the morrow their going was deferred. Miss Bingley was then sorry that she had proposed the delay, for her jealousy and dislike of one sister much exceeded her affection for the other.

The master of the house heard with real sorrow that they were to go so soon, and repeatedly tried to persuade Miss Bennet that it would not be safe for her—that she was not enough recovered; but Jane was firm where she felt herself to be right.

To Mr. Darcy it was welcome intelligence—Elizabeth had been at Netherfield long enough. She attracted him more than he liked—and Miss Bingley was uncivil to her, and more teasing than usual to himself. He wisely resolved to be particularly careful that no sign of admiration should now escape him, nothing that could elevate her with the hope of influencing his felicity; sensible that if such an idea had been suggested, his behaviour during the last day must have material weight in confirming or crushing it. Steady to his purpose, he scarcely spoke ten words to her through the whole of Saturday, and though they were at one time left by themselves for half-an-hour, he adhered most conscientiously to his book, and would not even look at her.

On Sunday, after morning service, the separation, so agreeable to almost all, took place. Miss Bingley's civility to Elizabeth increased at last very rapidly, as well as her affection for Jane; and when they parted, after assuring the latter of the pleasure it would always give her to see her either at Longbourn or Netherfield, and embracing her most tenderly, she even shook hands with the former. Elizabeth took leave of the whole party in the liveliest of spirits.

They were not welcomed home very cordially by their mother. Mrs. Bennet wondered at their coming, and thought them very wrong to give so much trouble, and was sure Jane would have caught cold again. But their father, though very laconic in his expressions of pleasure, was really glad to see them; he had felt their importance in the family circle. The evening conversation, when they were all assembled, had lost much of its animation, and almost all its sense by the absence of Jane and Elizabeth.

They found Mary, as usual, deep in the study of thorough-bass and human nature; and had some extracts to admire, and some new observations of threadbare morality to listen to. Catherine and Lydia had information for them of a different sort. Much had been done and much had been said in the regiment since the preceding Wednesday; several of the officers had dined lately with their uncle, a private had been flogged, and it had actually been hinted that Colonel Forster was going to be married.

Life as a young, fit, healthy and toned guy/girl does not end in your 20´s, your 30´s, 40´s or 50´s, not even in your 60´s or 70´s (and that fit and healthy, young and happy feeling "limit" that people have pushed on to each other since the dawn of man kind will only keep on moving up, up and up).

Yes, there are of course things that do change as we mature and grow through life. And while some of them are outside of our control, almost all of the things related to getting out of shape (and therefore less healthy) over the years is mainly due to the continued accumulation of your own habits and choices and not so much about the quite minor biological changes happening.

Yes, there are biological changes happening in our living, breathing beings that are directly linked to aging, but a surprising big amount of them are quite small and can be greatly, if not entirely offset by your choice of lifestyle. (the lower testosterone production in men and girls is a great example, the real, biological change really is small, but it do affect us. However, as scary as that might sound, that effect can be greatly averted, perhaps even made entirely mute and reversed by your daily active, life style choices).

And the things, big and small, that we cant directly control today, such as the length of our telomeres or when our bodies tells us that we are not able to produce a baby anymore, our changing hair color and so forth - well we dont actually have to waste energy worrying about what we cant change right?. Just as no one can lay out in the sun 8 hours per day for all of life and win that battle against the sun. We all need sun light, it´s actually healthy and necessary for us, but like with most things, there is a fine limit where it goes from enough to be healthy and rejuvenating for us and to much and thus - destructive.

But you know what.

Even in the so called, big ass cases that turns brave men and women in to a deer caught in the head light of a car - such as cancer, Alzheimer's and our biologically possible life span, our sex drive and wits.

Science are making progress by the leaps and bounds as i write this and you read this. And most of those things, as big as they might seem , and therefore seemingly out of your control, already do get greatly affected by your own basic life style choices such as food and training.

Life might feel overwhelmingly big at times, and most people dont even want to consider cancer, it´s big, it´s ugly, it´s evil and it´s chaos.
But even cancer, the chances of getting it or surviving it can be made much worse (or better) by your own daily choices - and we are not talking about a few percent here, but a mountain of a 40% increase in surviving cancer just by eating healthy - and keeping fit and active.

In fact, the accumulation of a persons choices, as opposed to their biological age and their genes, is primarily the age related decline we most often see in others when we talk about people getting old and out of shape (or how some seem ageless and as young and healthy, vital and horny, happy and witty as always)

we Age
according to our life style choices

But for a moment, let us step back from the big ones, such as your biological life span and cancer. And let us focus on something easy. Your lean muscle mass, body fat and general health.

The reason for that is that really big health advantages - no matter your age - starts with that basic reality that no one actually has to settle for more body fat as we age unless we allow it to happen (or life throws us a big can of shit and hale storms)

And that no one really has to loose muscle mass, unless we allow it. Grow slow and week, confused and tired - and yes, you got it, no one have to settle for a loss of libido (at least not due to age).

In most cases it comes down to how you eat and train and keep active, healthy and happy, week in week out. Why so many end up being and looking more out of shape in their 40´s then compared to how they used to be in their 20´s is due to the 20 years in-between of eating crappy food (or to much of the good food), drinking and drugs, choice in relationship - and training to little.

And vice versa
the Pendulum goes both ways

People that look fit, young, toned and sexy in their 40´s and 50´s and 60´s do so due to keeping their discipline and choice of life style week in, week out. There is no magic or secrets to it, there is no genetics preventing you from getting in better shape (or out of shape) even tho some people are of course blessed with good genetics that makes it easier. That is all it do however, making it easier by a few %, genetics play a very small role in how 50 years of life will affect you, far, far, far less then your own daily choices do. So much so that it doesn't even deserve to be a consideration for you.

So, no matter where you are on the scale of life. Dont get discouraged. Just go out and claim the baby steps that you need to be who you want your future self to one day be.

It´s all about making a choice of how you want to progress in health, body and mind the next 20, 30 or 40 years and then sticking to it.

a Simple general formula

Take this as a general guide for your healthier and more active life style, transforming yourself ageless.

1. Lift challenging weights 4 to 5 days per week - 40 to 60 minutes per time.
2. Walk, daily for 20 to 30 minutes - outside (you need sunlight too).
Do high paced and intense - challenging - sprint based cardio for 10 to 20 minutes 2 to 3 days per week. Early in the day, or directly after your weight lifting.
3. Eat Healthy and not to much
4. Give yourself the sleep your body needs, not what your mind think you need.
5. Enjoy, life, love, sex - get rid of what is not working for you.

chapter 1, the velveteen rabbit

Part Magic
Part Life
christmas Morning

HERE was once a velveteen rabbit, and in the beginning he was really splendid. He was fat and bunchy, as a rabbit should be; his coat was spotted brown and white, he had real thread whiskers, and his Ears were lined with pink sateen.
On Christmas morning, when he sat wedged in the top of the Boy's stocking, with a sprig of holly between his paws, the effect was charming.

There were other things in the stocking, nuts and oranges and a toy engine, and chocolate almonds and a clockwork mouse, but the Rabbit was quite the best of all.
For at least two hours the Boy loved him, and then Aunts and Uncles came to dinner, and there was a great rustling of tissue paper and unwrapping of parcels, and in the excitement of looking at all the new presents

the Velveteen Rabbit was forgotten

For a long time he lived in the toy cupboard or on the nursery floor, and no one thought very much about him. He was naturally shy, and being only made of velveteen, some of the more expensive toys quite snubbed him. The mechanical toys were very superior, and looked down upon every one else; they were full of modern ideas, and pretended they were real.

The model boat, who had lived through two seasons and lost most of his paint, caught the tone from them and never missed an opportunity of referring to his rigging in technical terms.

stuffed
with sawdust

The Rabbit could not claim to be a model of anything, for he didn't know that real rabbits existed; he thought they were all stuffed with sawdust like himself, and he understood that sawdust was quite out-of-date and should never be mentioned in modern circles.

And through the winding city, driver free cars, trains and busses skips along, silently and casualty free, their wheels turning and spinning over the roads and drive ways, that provide both solar powered energy as well as light and information, a fleet of non polluting vehicles, recharging at night as well as in transition.

The foods in our stores are grown and harvested within or just outside the city limits. Apple trees, oranges, strawberries, wheat, even eggs, milk and insect farms grown all year round, without pollution and meaningless transportations on their way from farmer to producer, to store and customer.

And outside the city limits, nature and wildlife, roamed again, free of our unsustainable clutches, moving and changing in their own natural ebb and flow. Healthy,  protected, grand and at times, a provider of adventurous rejuvenating visits.

Our planet smiled, as our oceans once again where free of plastics and man made chemicals. As our own health improved, so did mother nature.

And inside the garden of trees, deep within the natural parks of our vertical cities, people walked, enjoying a summers dream.

Longevity and ageless life. Consuming healthy food without the 20:th century profit driven, but harmful ingredients and backwards nutritional values that had plagued humanity.

Health care once again actually was about real health and not just covering up symptoms with pills that caused more harm then good for most, doctors not faced with endless lines of exhausted and empty patients.

Obesity a memory lost as sugar was removed from all foods and the percentage of protein was greatly increased. Providing a healthier population with less body fat and healthier levels of lean muscle mass. Causing ripple effects that included a sharp decline in elderly related injuries, and the near end of diabetes as a wide spread disease.

Lowering the cost of health care, while also increasing the quality of medical aid once required.

And as Alzheimers was derailed and we harnessed the power of rejuvenating our telomeres, in the cities of tomorrow we all got to explore centuries of healthy and vital adulthood instead of decades.

Those where the glimpses that sandman brought with him from the healthy cities of tomorrow.

The land of fairies and gnomes

Todays date tells us that today is Tuesday April 22, 2014, a beautiful day for you i hope. It certainly is such where i am. The sun is shining and the air is clean and healthy and behind me the coffee is brewing as i type these words and in a few hours i have a romantic date waiting with my beautiful girlfriend. Yes, today is a beautiful day by all accounts.

Earth day 2014

But today is also Earth day, and for most that might be just another Tuesday. However, considering that we live in a world that needs us to change course today - both as individuals and one mutual global society and to rapidly grow a more proper awareness, not just in words but in the way we do and see our world, health and shared reality. Earth - the oldest kid on this block

What your personal belief systems are, is as always your personal belief and choice - and nothing else.

It is human nature to make our own personal choices, and that freedom and desire to carve our own path in life and thought is a tremendously beautiful part of what makes us all tick

Be it religion or lack of, be it greed and dirty harmful oil, or growing slow, going weak and out of shape and unhealthy instead of the other way around. Reading books or not. Enjoying sex or not. To drink your coffee pure black or having it served as a bowl of cream with a splash of coffee to go.To do others biddings instead of enjoying and doing life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.Cats or dogs, Ice hockey or painting.

Those are your choices, shaping and forming the way you live the rest of your remaining days.Making tomorrow´s world nothing more then what we are choosing to create out of it. No, it is true, that we can not change the fabric of reality, or to carve unlimited richness out of every situation. But as always, you and no one else, within reason - make and shape your own future and thus - you either choose to help and improve or hinder and lessen all our´s tomorrow.

Life is made up by basic facts that we all do live in and by, facts that do not change no matter your culture, origin, the color of your skin, your preferred sexual activities or your taste in Star Wars movies, your choice of divine deities or the preferred color of your garden gnomes cap. So let us talk about Earth.

Name: Earth
Age: 4.54 billion years, give or take a few millions of years
Origin: Orbiting the sun in the milky way galaxy as the third planet from the sun. Earth is the only planet in this corner of the Universe that is not named by us after a roman deity but instead it´s name comes from the language of the Anglo/germanic tribes.
Life: Yes, Earth is capable of supporting a vast number of intelligent life forms. Ranging from sea dwelling creatures like Dolphins and whales to Homo Sapiens, Neanderthals, Birds, Monkeys and other intelligent species like pigs, dogs, cats.

Today we know that Earth is but one of many planets in the Universe capable of supporting life. Potentially speaking, there might be hundreds of millions of planets with some form of life.
Mass: 5,972,190,000,000,000 billion kg
Equatorial Diameter: 12,756 km
Polar Diameter: 12,714 km
Equatorial Circumference: 40,030 km
1 Moon.

And yes, Earth, does not move in perfect speed or rotation. Just as life and climate continually change and adapt to what we do, our planet´s course through space changes too, nor is our day actually 24 hours (but very close to it) or our magnetic field an infinite constant. As life changes ,so do our living, breathing planets too, and the entire universe.

Climate: Right now the climate at large is warming up and changing, globally speaking, in an artificially exaggerated and harmful way that affects all of Earth and all species, from the changing sea levels to a loss of ice and snow, changes in trepidation and agricultural and biodiversity loss. All due to Homo Sapiens continually putting select corporate and individual profit first for far to long, and at the expensive of, at large, our own and the planets health and well being. Our planet can still partially recover from this neglect, or at the very least, slow down and prevent the worst case scenarios - if we give it a helping hand, and if we do it globally now.

Food: In the hunt for both growing profit and production capacity humanity industrialized food production. Which is a potentially good thing. But sadly not to produce healthier food in a more effective and less harmful way. Instead we set out to scavenge and poison large areas of Earth as well as exterminated a large portion of other species and or each other. Even as beneficial species as the Wolf and other apex predators. Our leaders having decided that it was more important to produce food that was as profitable as possible instead of producing food that was as healthy and sustainable to eat and produce as possible. As a result, today, the majority of people on this planet do not drink and eat affordable Water, milk and food with a proper nutritional value and density, but instead buy unsustainable and unhealthy beverages and food. Our water, money and natural resources being wastefully used up, instead of providing us all with a healthier and longer life, a large part of our food industry and world, produce and support unhealthy beverages, food and unsustainable energy, countries and corporations

Air quality: In more sustainable countries and areas, the air quality and nature itself is still at large, a joyful and healthy experience. But in a growing number of cities and countries all over the world, the air quality today have been destroyed to such an extent due to our unsustainable lifestyle choices that hundreds of millions of people already have their natural life span cut short with decades due to the low and unhealthy air quality they are forced to breath. And if all countries all over the world do not prioritize a healthy air quality and honest debate about science, climate and health, the current air pollution problem will only continue to grow as well as spread. After all, no countries air, water, land or food production is shielded from the rest of the world.

tomorrow

But not all is black and grim. It is more then possible for all of us to make a sustainable profit on sustainable and healthy practices and industries.

Politicians and corporations could make powerful changes today to create a healthier and more sustainable world for us all to live and thrive in. If they wanted to.
All energy producers could go green, affordable and sustainable today, if they wanted to. And they could all make a solid and very healthy amount of profit while doing so.
All food producers could put an end to creating unhealthy and harmful food. If they wanted to. And they would still make a healthy living producing actually healthy and sustainable food.

Our water crisis could be adverted by all of us, from individuals to countries, politicians and corporations being less wasteful with clean fresh water. Instead of fracking and coca cola, we could all drink healthy water and healthy, nutritionally rich beverages such as milk.

No car manufacturer today needs to produce unsustainable and polluting cars. No computer, phone, tv, tablet manufacturer needs to create hardware that is not clean and green.

No one needs to destroy the rain forests in the Amazonas or Sumatra, Papua New Guinea or Thailand. India or Burma to create toilet paper and palm oil. Nor do we need infinitely profit growing revenue. Making the same amount of profit year in year out is really all a company do need to remain profitable.

No farmer alive - or country - needs wolves and other positive animal species to go extinct No farmer needs to produce unhealthy and unclean food that destroys the very earth it´s farmed from. No one needs hazardous pesticides to produce whole grains, potatoes, strawberries and apples. And no person alive needs to snort Rhino horn or eat shark fins.

There is not a single politician that actually needs to stand up and lie to the world, claiming that air pollution is due to sand storms in Sahara. Or that Tar sands oil - or fracking - is needed to produce jobs and energy or that poor and unemployed people needs to starve or live on the streets and go without proper and real health care while we lower taxes for the richest people and corporations

But we do need to choose to not do life in that wasteful and quite retarded and selfish way.

a Little cat and stray ants

In the belly of a planet, high up above us amongst the stars and icy cold radiation of infinite space a new moon was born.

Slowly gestating in the comfort and safety of it´s parents giant shadow and gentle touch. And outside in the vast playground it´s older siblings where running around like busy little bees, waiting for the new arrival to break free and shatter it´s parents bonds and join the other 60+ siblings on the merry go round.

Yes. this is a mighty big family.

Not just in numbers, but in size and scope too.

The biggest and oldest child is known as Titan, a fitting name for this play ground bully that towers mighty over the other kids with a diameter of more than 5,000km and a mass that nearly doubles that of Earth´s own Moon.

The youngest one, that is still to young and small for us to be entirely sure that it will ever manage to break free from Saturns hold and thus give birth to the planets 63 known Moon have already been given the name of Peggy.

While scientists today, of course, arent entirely sure exactly if Saturn have managed to give birth to all of it´s 62 moons (or if there´s been more of them in the past) Saturn do give birth to new moons through the planetary rings of debris, dust and rocks that surround it. As we all spin through the Universe, the debris making up Saturns massive and vast rings clumps together over time and once a new body of mass have managed to grow big enoug it slowly breaks free from it´s parent planet by sheer mass and the energy that mass creates.

In the end giving birth to a new moon in our own little corner of the galaxy.

winters taciturn disposition and Aprils warmth

the sweet escape
in aprils warmth

an end of silence
and birth of light

the wings of birds and reflected sun
a buzz of sprouts
and tiny things

winters taciturn disposition
