David Bowden37,155Its been awhile....For over three years I collected and shared an exclusive B&W circle. This circle "was" one of the most shared on G+ for awhile. I would share it once a month with everyone as a part of my personal desire to share more quality B&W images and photographers. The requirement for being in this circle was that the photographer shot at least 60% B&W images (I tend to shoot 80%).There are some excellent photographers and friends here. I encourage you to take a look at their work. While I know that bulk circle sharing is a thing of the past or no longer the norm on G+ (which is a shame) I wanted to re-share a collection of truly inspirational people. You wont be disappointed. Re-share if you like their work</david>2014-05-06 23:16:1649012223

Thomas Hawk6,146,1772500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 3 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Last week I shared last name A-Da, and Da-Ho.  Today's , part 3 of 5, today, represents Ho-Mi.  I'll share the remaining two tomorrow and Thursday.  I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.  Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)Stay tuned for parts 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.Part 1-5:  http://goo.gl/17ujpnPart 2-5:  http://goo.gl/3vn0OC*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of "domain errors."  If this affected you, sorry about that.2013-09-03 18:49:364857231117

Stephanie Calahan1,218FABULOUS WOMEN ON G+ Part 4 of 4My goal was to crowd-source a list of Fabulous Woman on G+ that are Actively posting and Engaging on Google+.  I had originally expected maybe 50 names.  Much to my surprise and , I received over 400+ comments filled with love and positive energy to help curate this list of well over 1491 beautiful people. I would say this was a success and now I'm sharing with everyone PUBLIC.  I hope you will share it far and wide too.  #Google+ will only allow me to share 500 at a time, so the list has been broken down in to 4 circles.  Groups 1-4 do not indicate any specific preference to any woman.  I would have shared one massive circle if I was allowed.Fabulous Women on G+ Part 1 Can be found here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/117590169633617507930/posts/Srvv4xzeuYmFabulous Women on G+ Part 2 Can be found here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/117590169633617507930/posts/DRFwReXQvbFFabulous Women on G+ Part 3 Can be found here:https://plus.google.com/u/0/117590169633617507930/posts/7wiyEUFuKsHWhat You Can Do Now------------------------------------* Add these circles to your own circles by pressing the "View shared circle" button below. Then you can either add it to an existing circle of yours or add it as a new circle by giving it a new name. I've labeled mine "Fabulous Women on G+".  (You won't be able to see the circle on mobile or ipad -- you must be on a desktop or laptop.)  See other G+ quirks below.* Once you've added it, I recommend visiting the stream for this circle and browsing through it to see what you find interesting, encouraging, and enlightening. Then, share some love by commenting, +1ing or sharing the posts of your sisters!* Please note, this is a very diverse group of women.  You're likely to see some people in these circles who will see, understand, or experience things differently than you.  They may or may not share your similar interests.  With that in mind, a few suggestions:     -- If you disagree with someone's views, you can very easily remove them from your circle.     -- Please post public vs to these circles directly.  Each of us has separate preferences on notifications and we want to lift one another up, not bog down notifications.  I hope you all see some increased activity, make some new and inspired connections, and lift one another up as we share each other's brilliance.#fabwomenonG+If You Received Notification About this Circle--------------------------------------------------------------------If you're getting a notification about this it's because you've been identified me or others in the circle as a Fabulous Woman on G+ that is Actively posting and Engaging here.  Original Post: https://plus.google.com/u/0/117590169633617507930/posts/HHzp7g9aW9tI thought you would want to know that you have been identified as someone the G+ community should connect with!  I don't send out notifications unless it is 100% warranted. G+ Quirky Things to Note----------------------------------------* Google+ has a daily limit of 500 for adding people to your circles. If you haven't added 50 people or more today, you should be fine to add one of the circles daily.2013-06-09 22:47:5043927622

Gailen Mapes18,460Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Canon Camera L-Q - 4 of 14Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. They are split to not exceed 500 members.I am now sharing one circle per day, for the reason see:https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/posts/RrPNTzHhQuHAs before these circles are photographers that I admire. They also have "more photos, less spam." There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).Be sure to get all 14 circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to November 18th for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting November 1st.)I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday2012-11-18 12:31:453791136
Matthias Haeussler20,030111 good onesfor my g+ anniversary I am sharing a circle of people most relevant to me on google+. the people in here are friends, interactors, commenters, promotors, sharers, plussers and the ones where I take all my inspiration fromyou may of course plus, comment, add or share it, but the main intention is notify you and say thanks for a great year :-)I started this circle with the #azfaves activity and publish it now. It is of course possible that I forgot to include people, that actually belong there. Please apologize if I missed you .. let me know and I will include you next year ;-)2012-11-12 20:48:48110681660
André Distel4,019The People I FollowSo, here it is - my first circle share. I have a lot more people in my circles than I actually follow. With limited time and other social networking sites, I figure, I can only follow so many on a regular basis. The people in this circle are all top photographers and highly active on Google+ or simply interesting people.Don't worry if you are not in there. I have had probably not enough time to look at your stream in more detail with all the people I already follow. Just comment and let me know you are out there :). I always appreciate if people share circles with me in them, so I thought I might do that as well.Cheers,Andréwww.andredistel.com 2012-11-06 19:30:09213508

From now on, he will no longer actively participate in curating nor he will show up in official announcements anymore. Obviously he will keep an eye on Monochrome Monday, but he will focus his time and effort into other projects here on g+.He has already notified official lists about this decision and he asked them to remove his name from the MCM team.THANK YOU Charles from all of us at MCM, you have made this theme so great and popular! You will be missed here!___________________________The Monochrome Monday theme is currently running on high levels as always! In fact, also this week we have received ~580 photos and about 1080 people have taken part!We truly want to thank everyone for participating in #MonochromeMonday , the theme wouldn't be so popular and special without you!Hopefully the circle includes everyone who contributed to Monochrome Monday this week, but experience says we missed some. Everyone is important to the success of the theme and we apologize if we missed you.+Hans Berendsen +Jerry Johnson +Steve Barge +Nurcan Azaz and myself would like to thank you for joining us this week. See you next Monday!Note: We want to be up front and transparent as your curators. Many of the people in this circle received a "notification" that we added them to our circles. This is a temporary circle that we have to create based on the tools available to us on this platform to build our circles, and please know that we can't keep everyone in the long term. We will keep people that have circled us as long as we can, but we may need to eventually drop some of the people that added us.This is Part 2 of 2Part 1 A-J: https://plus.google.com/109633732820372995629/posts/JFQvFT3s3oP#circleshare #sharedcircles #sharedpubliccircles +Best Shared Circle2012-07-28 00:05:332635823
Margaret Tompkins25,055<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Great Photographers With < 25,000 FollowersThe photographers here are all in my personal circles.  The choices are mine and mine alone.  No one asked, begged, or pleaded to belong.  No bribes were offered or accepted.  These are the people that I follow because I appreciate their great quality photography and their interaction.  Most I have met as I help curate several of the photography themes.  There are NO requirements to share this circle.  I would appreciate the people in this circle plus the post, leave a comment, and share the circle as public.  Each profile has been verified by me.  Each has < 25,000 followers (when they were put into the circle), and most are between 10,000 and 25,000 followers.  They each have high quality original photography content.  You won’t find many animated gifs!I wasn’t included, what do I do?  If you meet the criteria, weren’t included, but think you should be, then leave me a comment.  Maybe I don’t know about you.  There are millions of people on G+ and I don’t know everyone.  However, I’ll be happy to have a look at your work if you will call it to my attention. There’s a really great photographer XXX that you didn’t include.  Please feel free to recommend qualified people.  I discover new people every day and would be happy to look at their work.  Please make sure that the recommended person meets the criteria.  If they don’t then that tells me a lot about you! #Circleshare     #Sharedcircles  2012-07-25 23:09:23497209111208

Lotseninsel III

This is the other Tree or group of Trees standing completely on their own on the Lotseninsel Schleimünde. This was shoot from the Naturerlebniszentrum two days before I entered the Peninsula from the waterside. I think this will be my last one in the high key style for a while, missing the dark ;)

For those who haven´t seen it yet, here is a short video I made while shooting the Lighthouse and some other interesting subjects there. In the video you´ll see the Trees from a different position.

Have a great week everybody :)

Lotseninsel IV - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out

Like so many others in northern Europe, I stopped talking about the weather now. To deal with that, this morning I shifted all my watches back to standard time, which makes me believing that autumn is already there.

Here is another image from the Lotseninsel showing the Lighthouse Schleimünde. It´s a pretty small one, about 14 meters high and build back in 1871. The lighthouse is still in use and is the guidance / orientation for the only 20 meter wide entry to the Schlei Fjord. As you can see on the sea wall, the water level was dramatically low that day due to the ongoing westerly winds. Usually it´s about 1 meter higher and with easterly storms over a couple of days parts of the seawall and parts of the Island are flooded.

I took this image while it rained quite heavily and tried to cover with an umbrella.Bu... more »

Just to let you know, I am still alive!
Have been away for quite some time now, but returned back home from a long planned treatment. Still need a few weeks until I am ready for photography again.
Meanwhile I rigged up my little Toy Box and got her ready for a short trip today on the Schlei Fjord with my daughter. Relaxing pure is all I can say :)

Hello all together, who ever is still following my stream here, sorry for being so quiet lately. No excuses, but I still need to find my way through all the social medias I am connected to, which are way too many at this time and kept too much time in the past.
The good thing is that I haven´t missed much of your images, I enjoyed them each and every day, just in silence mode! So please bear with me.

About the image below: I had this waiting on my hard disk for a couple of months, knowing about it´s potential for a pretty good image, but lost the vision I had about it until this morning. Winter is giving us a hard time this year, still plenty of snow and ice all around, it´s dark and bleak for months now, so much different from previous years and spring seems to be far far away. And while I looked to some unprocessed images from the Lotseninsel (Pilot Island) series and this one popped out, I thought it will suit perfect for our never ending winter if I only raise the contrasts in the water a tiny bit and crop it. The rest is completely unprocessed, a finish that only took a couple of minutes. Although the image could have been taken today, I have to destroy your imagination, the image was shot in July 2012...this part of the baltic sea rarely is frozen over ;)

My submission to the Plus One Collection 2012

I needed quite long to make a decision about which image to submit.
Had a different image from the same series in mind, but unfortunately it does not meet the requirements in size, so this is a second choice then ;)
At the end it is for a good cause and that is what counts for me!

One of the main objects there is the Lighthouse, a Tree, another Tree, Groynes and this Sea Marker, which when viewed from distance looks like a birds cage to me. I will definitely coming back again this season and picking up some other images I have in mind.

Globe House, Schleswig, Germany 2012

One from a very few infrared images taken last year. Inside the Globe House is the replica of the Globe of Gottorp, built in Schleswig 1654 and brought to St. Petersburg, Russia, 1717, where the original got destroyed in a fire 1747. Another replica still exists in the Kunstkammer St. Petersburg, Russia.

Hüttener Berge, Brekendorf, Germany 2012

I found this little guy today while having a first infrared field test with my into full spectrum converted 5D MK2. For this image I used a Heliopan IR715 screw in filter. The RAW already looked very monochrome with a tobacco tint, but decided to convert it into black & white. One might think that shooting IR in Winter doesn´t make much sense...but I don´t think so ;)

Oh well, I should mention that the white really is snow and not the so called IR effect :)
Edit 2: And this is not a long exposure...

Today I got my Canon 5D MarkII back from dslr-astrotec.de

Instead of the removed filters it now has just a piece of clear glass in front of the sensor. To use it as a "normal" camera, I need to attach a IR/UV Cut Filter in front of the lens, which works great and without any AF or AWB issues, no colorcast, no nothing. I purchase the Heliopan 7075 77mm with Schott BG 38 glass, which is exactly the same as the X-Nite CC1 Filter.
To use it for IR photography, I need to attach a IR Filter to the lens. While using Live View, I can auto focus and shoot just like normal, but have to do a custom white balance. Sensor cleaning is working too!

I couldn´t resist to try it right out of the window with a Heliopan IR 715nm Filter attached. Custom White Balance set to a small spot of green grass in front of the window while it was completely overcast. Despite the composition and meaningless of the image, this is how it looks on the LCD screen of the camera. Can´t wait to test it out in the field.___

St. Petri Dom zu Schleswig

I admire +Nathan Wirth´s infrared photography so much, that I decided to give it a try myself and bought a Heliopan R715 infrared filter last spring. Early summer it finally was time to take it out into the field...and the trouble begun. Trouble was all about focussing. Since the filter is pitch black, you really cannot focus like without. Liveview and boosting the ISO sometimes can help, but not really. Then there is the fact of focus shifting, which you get when using infrared and the fact of the imprecise red scale for infrared in the focussing window on top of the lens. It´s all about try and error and experience (once you get it :P).
The image below was the best out of several attempts this year. Accidentally I focussed correct ;)

I never wanted to show you this image, but today I started printing for a limited edition calendar for our open day celebrity of the Schleswiger Werkstätten and I printed the image below. And what I saw in the print left me speechless and is in no way comparable to the screen view. So much depth, almost like a 3D, just without these wicked glasses. And that´s exactly what I like most when I see IR from Nathan. So I will keep on experimenting and once the sun returns next summer, I´ll be there.

Have a great evening everyone :))___

Did you ever know that our good friend and fellow photographer +Christian Louw Pedersen is an artist all through??
He not only controls the black & white images, but also masters the black & white keys in such a beautiful way, you should not miss that part of his life!!! Unfortunately he quitted playing, but that hopefully is only temporary!! ;)
Listen to him playing his beautiful jazzy extravagant interpretation of the old traditional "Who can sail" !!! Enjoy and relax here:

Lotseninsel VI

Here is another view from the Lighthouse Schleimuende on the Lotseninsel. I shoot that quite some time ago, but only now I found the time to finish the processing.

I am most likely not around for the next 2 weeks, simply because I am much too busy with preparations for the upcoming exhibition starting October 1st and organization for the relocation of our workshop, out of the containers into a solid building at the end of October. Inbetween I simply need some little breaks, otherwise I won`t be able to finish my work here. That does not mean I am not around, I still will scroll through your streams and at least leave my plusses here and there :)

So this should be my contribution in front of the upcoming

Surprise surprise!! :)

Checking the junk mail folder from time to time sometimes can bring a surprise to light ;)
I just found a message from the Lucy Foundation telling me, that one of my entries has received a Honorable Mention in the 2012 International Photography Awards annual competition Fine Art Landscape Non-Pro Category!! Woot :)
I am so pleased and full of joy to receive such a recognition among so many other and wellknown artists. It was my first ever entry into a competition and I never ever expected to "win" anything. The more I am surprised now, Well +Julia Anna Gospodarou, forget about what I wrote you earlier today, I should have checked my spam folder before ;)
So many thanks to everyone for your continuing support and congratulations to all the winners!!

Eidersperrwerk I

First I want to thank you all for the wonderful support, the warm words and the feedback during the last weeks!
Without you all this would not have been possible. You all out there, you were my inspiration, motivation and stimulus. I want to thank each and everyone for that!
Although the exhibition was not really well attended, there have been nearly 150 people gathered in 5 hours. It was the hottest day of the year and many of them have probably opted for the beach, which I can also understand very well.
I am glad I got the expert audience. There was a lot of feedback, constructive criticism and words of praise. At the end of the day we even were able to sell a few prints.

The last weeks and months were the purest stress for me, even though I've enjoyed every moment of it. It was an incredible challenge for me to work at this high level under self produced pressure. It will be impossible for me to work at this high level on a regular basis. My fitness and mental skills crying more often for breaks now. Nevertheless, I hope that I can continue to inspire you with my work, although I will be less present as I have to take more care about myself.
As I just told to Julia, showing your work in the printed and framed format I think is like climbing the Olymp, at least that is how it felt for me. Nothing can beat that. The aesthetic and visual experience is overwhelming and the emotions coming along with every visitors response and feedback leaving some deep tracks in my heart. Some 12 months ago I never ever thought of showing my work to anyone except my kiddies. Each of my images were very personal and private (and I think they still are). Some friends urged me to show my work on flickr, and now, a year later the exhibition...
One thing I have learned from the exhibition and something I have never thought of: black and white photography is a niche, and certainly not a "product" for the masses, viewed from the economical aspects. Again and again I was asked for color images. The 3 meter long
canvas print was the absolute eye-catcher and there is a high demand of more from these types...No idea whether I will fulfill this demand or not...
Beside that we have made some good contacts, which will find its expression in some comissional work soon.

After some days off I am back now with new motivation and thinking of new projects. Not sure yet what my next goal will be, but I need a target! :)
So here is one of my most recent images taken at the Eidersperrwerk (River barrier at the North Sea coast) on thursday. It is showing the southern entry of the sluice to the harbour of Tönning.

Happy Weekend all together!

My contribution to #allthemes  I have missed in the last couple of weeks.___

Almost done with printing, only a few more to go before I start cutting the matte and framing. Beside the framed images I also have the chance to showcase a canvas of 300cm x 80cm wide pano plus a few other colored images printed on canvas or mounted on foam board.

Help needed

Sorry for being so quiet these days, but I am totally covered organizing, printing and framing for my 1st vernissage in 3 weeks.
I have a question regarding the framing of square format images.
Image size is 30cm x 30cm, the frame is 50cm x 50cm. With rectangulars I usually put them off centered into the frame/passepartout, but not sure about squares.

Would you frame the image centered or slightly off centered?

Your input are much appreciated! :)

I took this image while it rained quite heavily and tried to cover with an umbrella. But still some raindrops made it onto the filter, so that the overall quality is pretty much soft. A good reason to come back again to that spot.

Lotseninsel Schleimünde

Please bear with me, but this is my very first attempt on something like videography. Just a short impression of what and where I was shooting yesterday while heading to the Lotseninsel at the mouth of the Schlei Fjord. Had to turn volume down coz on terrible wind noise. We had offshore wind, so you barely can imagine how windy it really was, not to talk about all the rain and thunderstorms inbetween plus the fact that there was absolute no wave action and water level way below zero. Somewhere in the video you´ll see on of these viking boats. In about two weeks the annual Wikingertage / Viking Days starting in my hometown Schleswig. There a lot of these viking boat replicas around then. This one in the video came from Denmark. I just wonder if the real vikings back then would have used a motor boat to get ahead...and I thought the vikings were strong ;)

Lotseninsel II

Some kind of See Sign, as far as I know it holds a weatherstation plus a peak meter for the waterlevel. This one is from today while shooting on the Lotseninsel at the mouth of the Schlei / Schleimünde. Took the ferry while the weather was just great, perfect sky for long exposure, dry (almost) and promising. Once there the weather changed rapidly from heavy rain showers into exploding thunderstorms, back to sun and it was very windy. Wind was offshore and so the cloudmovement. Therefor the water very quiet, although the tide was pretty low. With westerly winds the Baltic Sea here simply runs dry.
I got all wet quite some times. For one time I had to seek shelter in the WC, really had to run with all my rig geared up and while hurrying I lost the Lee Foundation Kit completely with Big Stopper and ND grad plus the Adapterring, which somehow detached (guess I simply... more »

Luckily I could easily find it when I headed back after the storm, laying somewhere in the sand, phew!! :)
I did some BTS video coverage with my iphone. Once ready, I will post a short clip here (just gotta find out how to get off my phone and how to cut it).

Lotseninsel I - Pilot Island

One out of two trees on the Lotseninsel at the mouth of the Schleifjord - Schlei - Schleimünde..

Escaped from home because we had lost our broadband (didn´t know I am so hooked to the internet)...and made a 12 miles hike into the Nature Experience Park Maasholm yesterday. Once there, all clouds were gone and wind settled (with broadband it would have been so easy to plan the hike). The idea was to get onto the Pilot Island to shoot the lighthouse. Been there about 35 years ago, but only from the waterside. Once I arrived I quickly found out that it is strictly forbidden to enter the island from the landside...pffft. So my plan for tomorrow is rent a ship and get that way to the lighthouse :D

Well, with all the trouble I recently had with broadband here, yesterday I started to think about. Been into net from the very first hour, phone phreaking and all this stuff with blazing fast 120 baud ;) But it was different. Not much information to gather except for the exchange of mails and experience through a BBS system. Hosting a mailbox myself was way cool :D But it changed and with this change I didn´t realize how much I got addicted. Today I simply can´t leave the house without making a plan, having a look to the rain radar, to the news, to the road conditions and maps and to the webshop for shoes (stupidly I still can´t try on them, waiting for WEB 5.0). Where is all my spontaneity stuck? While out on the hike I for myself decided that this needed to be changed, instantly and from now, promise!! ___

Dockkoog VI

First day of vacation...streetworkers still trying to bury some of these tubes into our street, since weeks. And once again these brutes cut my phoneline, the second time in 3 weeks :P Trying to upload using my iphone as a hotspot, which hopefully will do until tomorrow.

One from the archives I forgot to post. Did this one on that bleak day back in early May, when I shattered one of my ND filters at the Dockkoog in Husum. Precisely because it was so bleak and wet that eveninig, I enjoyed it a lot. No tourists, no dogs, no nothing, just me, my camera and the sea!
I´ve been there a couple of days ago again...felt like half europe spending there vacation at the Dockkoog, so drove back home without having achieved anything new.

Have a great week every one! :)

Amoeba Kiel Amöbe II

Another view of the new Center of Molecular Science at the University of Kiel. Moiré Alert ;) No idea how to get rid of that and I think the AA-Filter failed completely with this type of facade (bronce colored metallic grid something). It was hard decision to post it in black&white, the bronce colored facade against the deep blue sky I really like a lot, but at the end I love B&W... ;)
So +Brian Spencer, here is what I had in mind :)

Amoeba Kiel Amöbe

I have been out shooting with my daughter this afternoon and drove down to Kiel University Campus.
About 6 weeks ago the new Center for Molecular Science opened it´s doors for the students. A pretty cool idea from the architects to design and name the new building after the Amoeba (Amöbe). When viewed from above, it looks kinda like a Amoeba. You might want to google for some other pictures around this building, unfortunately there is no wiki entry yet.

From the first days I knew about the plannings I wanted to go there and shoot it. Well, this is not a serious attempt on shooting architecture. I made this the last shot on my way back to the car, just to show you how it looks like in the overall view. You will see the one or other extraction over the next weeks.

I made this the last shot on my way back to the car, just to show you how it looks like in the overall view. You will see the one or other extraction over the next weeks.
Did some whitebalance correction, added some contrasts and a high pass sharpening, that´s it. Didn´t even attempt to correct the perspective, because I think it looks very funny how it turned out at 17mm ;) But I really need a TS/E !!

Have a great week everybody :)___

Bülk V

Sorry for a second image today, but I felt tempted to post another one from Bülk, just to fulfil the requirements of #LighthouseThursday kindly curated by +Heiko Köster. I gotta admit, that the first one from today probably was too minimal for the theme ;)

This is the Bülk Lighthouse / Leuchtturm as seen from the beach promenade in Strande near Kiel. It is the guidance and orientation for the entrance to the Kieler Förde and located at the Bülker Huk. Since 1807 lighthouses have been placed here. The current ligthhouse was established in 1862...well and as you can see, it looks quite dirty, just like it is crying for a wash me please ;)
It´s the last image out of this series (uhmm, not really, I forgot to post #III ). An uprising thunderstorm urged me to leave as quick as possible. So I took the last chance and made a quick 60 seconds exposurealread... more »

For +Athena Carey:  When I was back in my car, rewatched the images on the cameras LCD, I made a final decision...the next lens in my bag will be the Canon 24mm TS/E II. Tried to do some perspective correction in pp, but that turned out pretty bad and I lost almost the entire pixels, beside that it looked awful. So I only can imagine how it might look like with a tilt/shift lens.

Bülk IV

Another one of the old groyne fields as seen from the Bülk Lighthouse (in my back) at Strande, the entry to the Kieler Förde / Baltic Sea. On the far right you can see the Kiel Lighthouse / Leuchtturm.

Wasted Water

Inbetween heavy rain showers and a really fresh breeze I have been able to go out for a walk and found this wastewater pipe near the Badestelle Lürschau at the Ahrenholzer See.

Bülk II

From last friday´s visit to Bülk / Strande near Kiel as seen from the Lighthouse of Bülk towards the Kiel Lighthouse on the left, just before a thunderstorm raised in the back of me.

I used the same technique as with the first image from Bülk, 302 seconds exposure, Heliopan 4-stops ND plus LEE Big Stopper plus Hitech 1.2 GND soft.

Edit: Interestingly this image made it onto the front page of flickr, I am really excited :-)

Kiel Lighthouse

The Kiel lighthouse stands 4 nautic miles off the coast in the central Bay of Kiel as a guidance and orientation for the entrance to the Kiel Fjord. In addition it holds numerous measurment devices, like for weather, level gauge, radio activity and is a remote pilot location. It is one out of four lighthouses in Kiel.

As said before, I was into sailing in my younger years and the Kiel Lighthouse quite often were used as a turning point in regatta sailing.

This image I shoot from the same spot as the previous image, Bülk / Strande, where another Lighthouse is located. Oh and I am much more pleased with the result, no complaints this time :D

Still a few hours to go until monday, but it is the busiest day of the week for me, so I have to post it today as my contribution for #MonochromeMonday kindly curated by +Charles Lupica +HansBe... more »
