This is my first #assignmentforjake - +Jake Johnson asked me to show a photograph showing "isolation".
Since I've done an interpretation of isolation only a few weeks ago for the P52 Black & White, I thought at first I'd (more or less) redo that shot. But then I saw a bird sitting on a high voltage wire, and I thought to myself: Wait, isolation isn't that bad all the time, it can be valuable at times! And the more I thought about it, the more I found that "isolation" is something with different facets, well worth another approach!
In one respect, isolation is something you need in order not to lose yourself, so you can be with others as a "complete" person, making personal interactions somehow richer, worthy for everyone being involved.

I felt really uneasy with this week's assignment because I have often tried to take photos of dishes that looked oh so yummy when served but didn't look any good on the photo. So I really had to think hard about what to try this week. And at the same time, I still thought of last week's assignment when the red racing car I had shot went almost invisible whilst converting it to black & white...
I think that's basically why I took those little tomatoes in my kitchen for a personal challenge: Yes, I'll choose something red ! If you know how much I like Italian cooking, you can easily guess how I got the idea of adding cheese and spaghetti...

Yes, I know that this is a lame approach! But it's the only one I got...
First thing I tried was shooting cars on the freeway (hooray for German Autobahn!), but I do not have the filters it takes to do long exposure shots in plain sunlight. I tell you, I would have had some great contributions if the theme had been "overexposure"... ;-)
So I decided to use my boy's slot car racing track, and I had a lovely shot of a red Ferrari going through a loop: You really could see the speed , a lovely speedy red blur going through the black loop! Great - as long as it had not been converted to black & white.

Last Sunday, I went for a little hike in a forest near by. It turned out to be almost an adventure because the way I had taken suddenly ended in the middle of the woods, so for a moment I was lost! But nevertheless it was a true pleasure to see all that blooming over and over!

This way leads deep into a forest, and then it ... ends! I ended up using a compass to find me a way back to my car. Of course, I could simply have turned around to go the same way back that I had come, but wouldn't that have been boring?

The other day, I was in the garden shooting some of the first blooms - and enjoying the sun.
It was only yesterday, when I was processing some of the pics I had taken, that I discovered the little visitor I had caught by chance... :-)

Maybe it's some sort of foul play, but I'm simply no good at night shooting, so I am pretty happy that I have an app for that... This is done with my mobile phone using "Night Camera+" by Almalence. The only additional editing was the conversion to b&w in Picasa. Whatever next week's assignment may be: Please let me shoot it in plain light!

This is a photo of a photo taken way back in 1886! It's the interior view down the aisle of St. Vitus church at Giesen, Germany. I "pimped" it up a bit by using the "HDR Camera+" app by Almalence, but still I'm completely fascinated of the quality of this really old photo...

I put a lot of effort in describing the unique species and locations, but ultimately, I stretched it over too much time probably.
