My dog loves sitting down on his mat and eating his food. He will eat slower, and less, if his bowl isn't there. And if it is not on his mat, he will not sit down.

He is also very picky with toys. So high maintenance.

Picked up a 1984 Raleigh Marathon fixed gear conversion for so painfully cheap off craigslist today.

Need to finish cleaning it up, put a front brake on it, and an old rear tire (current one has some sidewall damage I missed when I inspected it).

It's going to +Mercedes Pang 's sister when I'm finished with it.

I haven't seen a nicely lugged frame in a while.

Thanks to being able to stream lectures, I can't stand watching any videos at slower than 2X speed (especially Youtube videos). If you join the HTML5 Youtube trial, you can increase the speed of these as well.

Good on Unicef for taking a role against slactivism. Liking a cause or turning your profile picture a certain color for a cause may raise some awareness, but they don't to any sort of change. To do that, you need to do something in the real world.  Again, good job Unicef.

When it's raining, I throw my phone in my bag too as it is waterproof as well.

U-lock (currently on my bike in a distant location)
Bike keys.

I used to carry many pounds worth of books, but those were all replaced with the Surface.

Man Google Glass is a ripoff. They're seriously overcharging. Let me get this straight, the only reason Glass costs so much is because it has Google's name on it? No thank you. I'll just stick with unbranded Glass. The brand isn't important to me.

Lamar Smith, writer of SOPA, wants to strip away the peer review process from scientific funding

He also wants to favor research that creates jobs and isn't duplicating. Science is science BECAUSE it is duplicated and peer reviewed. Jobs should never be the purpose of research, just a side effect.  How about instead of cutting peer reviewing, you give the NSF more than .2% of the national budget. Maybe.. just maybe.. that would create jobs.

This is why the US is falling behind in scientific research.

There is a 273 point calibration for the surface pro stylus. It improves corner tracking and has a registry key to allow it to persist.

The stock calibration is fine, but I write really small. This helps.

This is awesome. It's an interactive graph of the popularity vs the effectiveness of certain supplements backed by REAL scientific, peer reviewed, studies.

Definitely worth taking a look at.

Unfortunately, it appears to be three years out of date. But I would take 3 year old scientific data over newer unsourced "articles" found all over the internet

It has now been almost three months with my Surface Pro. The initial new device feeling has worn off. I still love it and feels that it fills the needs of many people perfectly.

Windows 8 is awesome on a touchscreen and only getting better with 8.1.

Android and iOS tablets can't even come close to the utility this device gives me. I take this device anywhere I may possibly need a computer.

My only gripes:

I wish the "resolution" of the stylus input didn't drop off when you're within a centimeter of the borders of the display. (I've read this is fairly common in active digitizer devices). Its minor, but can be slightly frustrating if you write small on the edges of pages like I tend to.

A distant second would be slight improvements in batterylife. But it could last 24 hours and I would still want improvements there. I... more »

Because of all the "constitution is being trampled on" talk, I have a question.

Were the people asked to have their homes searched or not?

It is a yes or no question and I'm looking for a primary source. (This means someone who had their home searched saying whether or not they were asked) I don't want a secondary source as those have been shown to be full of assumptions this week.

Please don't link me to a secondary source where someone assumes something.
