AJ Durling has been shared in 7 public circles

AJ Durling2945) The fifth of today's circle shares - G+ ChristiansThese are people who, from time to time, share some useful, edifying, thought-provoking and amusing musings on Christianity. Most of them simply add these nuggets into already interesting streams on many other subjects, too.Again, if you like this, feel free to share it. If not, feel free to ignore it.Notable mentions: +Tim Young  +BJ Hewitt +Kevin Minnett +Brian Hoch +James Shiels +Theophilus Ibn Iakobos +Tre Lawrence +Justin Reeve +Keith Tackel  +Jeff Abel +Aaron Downs +Jorge Bessa +K.C. AJ Durling294This is a bonus circle, and is actually pretty much where I started when I was creating my first circles - Top 500 PlussersIt is the people with the highest number of users - and is actually now only 308 people. When I first collected the Top 500 Plussers on Google+, I spend a lot of time weeding out the people whose posts in which I didn't particularly have an interest (e.g. almost all of the photographers - nothing against people who post photos to G+, it's just me: this is Google+, not Flickr; people who only ever promote themselves - so quite a lot of the pop musicians). The list that is left are people who, I think, actually contribute to the stream. You may find some surprising choices (Dolly Parton?! Actually, yes!). But I hope you enjoy it.I've kept the name Top 500 even though it is a lot fewer than 500. I like the irony... #circleshare   #sharedcircles   #celebrity   #topcircles  2012-10-19 15:06:56307302
AJ Durling2946) Number six, and the final circle share of the day, the favourite of my circles - Best of BritishThe homeland plussers; mostly interesting people, with a handful of interesting brand pages. If you like this, feel free to share it; if you don't, feel free to ignore it.Notable mentions: +Steve Jaszczak +Pete Graham +Jolyon Walker +Alastair Preacher +Chloe Crouch +Ruth Wood +Edward Hartwell Goose +Sandrine Pitiot +Lucky Charmz +Bruce Boulton +Dave Palmer +Mick SLM +Viki Fairweather +Marcus East +Bal Sangeezer +Antony Pace +Matt Rose +Russell Heilling +Julian White2012-10-19 15:05:044072719
AJ Durling02) Second on my list of circles to share - Android NewsPerhaps of more directly relevant interest to the mobile Plussers amongst us, this is a collection of predominantly company pages, but with some notable personal accounts, distributing interesting, breaking or otherwise mainstream-overlooked Android news, tips, tricks and discussions. If you like it, share it. If you don't, ignore itNotable mentions: +Shane Cloherty +Garnie Bolling +Todd Bailey +Justin Ellenbecker +Martijn van der Meulen +Ravi Patel +Tom Brander +Android Headlines +MIUI ROM +Droidaphile +Android Central +Android Newbies +Android Developers +Samsung Mobile USA +xda-developers +Android Community +Android Authority +RootzWiki 2012-10-19 15:01:2547204
AJ Durling0So, it's a good day to share circles. Here goes:1) The first of today's circle shares - Social Media'ersThese are people who are either influential and informative in the world of social media (including SEO), or actually demonstrate "good" social networking brilliantly in their Google+ posts and social interactions. If you like this, feel free to share it. If not, feel free to ignore it.I hope you find these connections useful, or at least interesting!Notable mentions: +Thomas Morffew +Max Huijgen +Linda Lawrey +Mike Elgan +Johnny Roquemore +Amanda Blain +Dan Soto +Jessica Northey +Thomas Power +Shamil Weerakoon +Chris Lang +Michael Q Todd +Yifat Cohen +Jesse Stay +Denis Labelle +Irene Koehler +Chris Hoeller +2012-10-19 15:00:0545927
Martijn van der Meulen4,273Looking for other Nexus owners? Don't fret! Two days ago I started a search for people that love their Nexus device. Hardware that's made in close collaboration with Google, and that provides the Android experience the way it's meant to be experienced. I found quite a few people and curated the Circle, just to make sure you're only adding the best of the best to your personal stream here on Google+.Please add and share this Circle. Enjoy :).2012-07-19 21:00:226514013
Chris Robinson22,318Monster Music CircleThis circle will give you broad exposure to music on G+. I took all of the active bands and musicians from the +Musician and Band Public Database (see http://goo.gl/a30yT for details) and put them into this circle. There are a lot of great musicians in this circle! Pass it along!ATTENTION MUSICIANS This is the last music circle coming out of my profile. Profiles have to circle +Musician and Band Public Database if they want to be included in upcoming shared circles. Thanks!2012-04-24 21:21:1948631911

Just seen the teaser trailer for Start Wars VII. It reveals practically nothing, except the return of the millennium falcon (yay!) and a cool-looking three-way lightsaber. I can't wait!

This can only be a good thing - to be able to control what apps can and can't have access to on your phone. (Why does a flashlight app need to know my location? Why does Facebook need access to my SMS messages?). Let's hope it actually happens.

I know you get asked to fill in loads of petitions, but I’d be personally very grateful if you would take the time to sign this serious one: abolishing prescription charges for sufferers of Cystic Fibrosis (a genetic condition for which there is no cure) https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/free-prescriptions-for-cystic-fibrosis This would help to improve the lives of more than 10,000 people in the UK – not least of all, my own sister-in-law.

You can find out more about what it’s like to actually live with Cystic Fibrosis (and the impact that your support would have) here: http://www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk/about-cf

The next campaign I’m passionate about is getting Cadbury’s to reverse their perverse, shameful and scandalous decision to change the Crème Egg chocolate recipe, but this cause seems weightier at the moment!

The trade-off between usability and security: if it's easy to use (i.e. you don't have to log in to access it), then it isn't secure. Surely the fact that everyone has access codes to secure their own home wifi routers should be an indication to them that, if you don't need an access code to access a wifi network, then it isn't secure?

Whilst the headline is impressive (7-years-old?! Wow...), this should be a wake-up to everyone using public wifi.

"...nearly two thirds (59%) of Britons regularly use unsecure Wi-Fi hotspots, with one in five (20%) doing so weekly or more to bank online (19%) shop (25%), send emails and documents (31%), and use social media platforms (50%)"

Whilst this can, and arguably should, spur some debate, I don't know enough about the underlying facts and statistics to comment. It certainly made for some interesting reading, though. If the authors conclusions hold water, then it rather begs the question: how can anyone not believe in a creator?

I guess, if Apple are going take 5 years to actually innovate something original, it might as well be something cool. And this is cool. I'll wait to see if this ever actually materialises into a production device, but the idea is brilliant.

Google Now, in Queens English? Yes please! #properjob #theresnosuchthingasAmericanEnglish

Nexus Voice now in (proper) Queen's English

For those UK-based Nexus users, this seems to have been quietly pushed out. Now if I go to:

Settings > Language & Input > Google Voice Typing > "OK Google" detection > From any screen and 'train' my voice, I do not need to have the input language set to English (US) to have Voice search responses in Queen's English. This should help with accuracy too, I expect.

Happiness is a choice, not a privilege
This gets a share because I just love that Google employs people who's sole job is to look into happiness! Yay!

I'm not a statistician, or an actuary, or even a politician, so I can't vouch for the guys maths working here. He presents it fairly humbly; not that it improves his credentials, but it does paint a murky and underlying picture of how far this government is subsidising their friends... What can possibly done in the face such blinding and entrenched privilege?

What can possibly done in the face such blinding and entrenched privilege? ___

What he said.

Net Neutrality is a key to having an open Internet. Without it, telecom companies have the power to decide who is and isn't allowed to have a business online. (Hint: if you compete with them, the answer is "no." Hint #2: if your business is successful, expect them to ask you for a "tax" for the answer to be yes. Hint #3: expect that tax to be a significant percentage of your income.) They also get the power to do far more sinister things -- like read and modify the web pages you see in order to insert anything from tracking to ads, or even hijack your traffic outright.

Net Neutrality isn't "Obamacare for the Internet," as Senator Cruz seems to think. It's making sure that a handful of the most unpleasant bastards in the country don't have veto power over your ability to start a business or take your business to whomever you please.

Fortunately, +Matthew Inman has a great explanation of what Net Neutrality actually means.

It's really about crab tacos.

(Incidentally, I was very glad to hear Obama's statement about it earlier today. "Reclassification" is a technical term, but it basically means that cable companies have to treat everyone's traffic the same, and aren't allowed to boost their friends and harm their enemies. It's the regulatory banhammer that the cable companies were being threatened with if they didn't actually regulate their own behavior the way they said they would -- which, in the Netflix incident, they decidedly didn't.)___What he said.

This is a great truth. The fact is, Britain is an island; it is water-locked. Therefore, there is no such thing as an "indigenous" people here: everyone in this country is descended from someone who wasn't born here. Maybe their particular immigration was a long time ago, maybe they integrated less with other (former and later) immigrants along way, but the situation is the same. Integration and respect (for and from all parties) is the key.

“We can’t overburden communities, we have to be realistic about that. But at the heart of Christian teaching about the human being is that all human beings are of absolutely equal and infinite value and the language we use must reflect the value of the human being and not treat immigration as a deep menace that is somehow going to overwhelm a country that has coped with many waves of immigration and has usually done so with enormous success.”

The debate over immigration has become rather toxic, and the hatred towards immigrants thinly disguised at times. It is right that the Archbishop of Canterbury should intervene to remind us that all human beings are of immense value and deserving of respect.
