Robert Misner2,172Hey folks, this is a bit of a circle share put together through +Michelle Marie's post today for "give me interesting people to circle."I don't normally do circle shares but I was going through it and adding a few people here or there, and figured I might as well just grab everybody - people were recommending loads of people I already have circled and find interesting.Upon putting it together as it's own circle it looks really good. Just give it a try and pull some people out of it. Max Huijgen8,441Europe calling: the old giant wakes up and calls on its peeps!now that Europe shows up as the largest continent on G+ self awareness goes up and initiatives to get together flourish. It all started this Monday with my request to post your country if you were European. I offered to circle the first 500 who would do so without any obligation to circle back. Result: we needed a part2 as we hit the 500 comments limit. The original post was shared 225 times. You can find it here:https://plus.google.com/112352920206354603958/posts/CdhmHGbYjgiPart 2 is still open and can be found here:https://plus.google.com/112352920206354603958/posts/NDAhG4fP2a7If you didn´t do so already, post there and as long as I have spots free, I will circle you as I want to see my streams come alive during European hours. There was a shared feeling that it would be great to get some attention from G+ for Europe with official hangouts from the community managers during European times, feature roll-outs from Google no longer restricted to the US, having some central point to share European circles and last but not least the desire to have hangouts without having to burn the midnight oil. To help solve this and get Europeans together on the same page I created +Europeans on G+ It already has three managers out of the community but feel to offer a bit of your time as it must be a community project. Circle the page if you didn´t already do so. The first post can be found here:https://plus.google.com/100160648652252546872/posts/QXAJ1DFma68The community of Europeans responded and we got the following new initiatives:An compilation of the who is who in the EU countries:The Euro 200 Circle by +Euro Maestro Who are the most followed in Europe ? Who have the highest Klout score ? This circle helps to answer those questions. This is sort of a Who's Who list of Europe.https://plus.google.com/107040353898400532534/posts/YPv8bzRwYXDNext the even more exclusive circle of the most followed Europeans from all over Europe as compiled by me thanks to assistance of +CircleCount the best profiler site there is and they happen to be European as well :) The Euro Top 50 Circle: Europeans with the largest follower countNo pages, just people based in geographic Europe who were already famous or got their followers through relentless efforts on G+ https://plus.google.com/112352920206354603958/posts/QUEP9UT9iVTAn attempt to crowd source the most valuable Europeans on and for G+ by +Gabriel Vasile MAKING A "BEST OF EUROPEANS" GOOGLE+ CIRCLEYou can still cast your votes there.2012-01-26 20:15:0850010012877

I haven't played FAST - Racing League on WiiWare but I guess I won't skip FAST Racing NEO by Shin'en for WiiU.

BTW, that's an ingame shot and it was said that the game will be running at 1080p@60fps:-)

More info should be popping up soon on fast.shinen.com/neo/

Wii U update – This time around, it's all about indie games!

SteamWorld Dig: It started as an game for 3DS but got later ported to PC/Mac/Linux as well as PS4 and Vita and finally landed on WiiU last month and as the title already suggests, it's about digging down as far as you can, mining gems and metals, going back up selling everything and buying new gear and features. And you're a robot. A steamy one. It's good fun, although the levels aren't randomly created and it's a bit too much mobile-games-mechanics if you know what I mean.

Teslagrad: Wow! I've only played about half an hour so far but this game is a) beautiful b) huge c) very well made and d) it got a fantastic atmosphere. This game is too available on various platforms including PC/Mac/Linux and PS3.

Teslagrad: Wow! I've only played about half an hour so far but this game is a) beautiful b) huge c) very well made and d) it got a fantastic atmosphere. This game is too available on various platforms including PC/Mac/Linux and PS3.

Color ZEN: I don't know. It's a puzzler where you have to figure out the right sequence of removing colors from the play-field. It got relaxed background music - hence the name - but it just won't click for me. There's nothing zen-like when failing over and over again on the harder levels. I'd go for good old Tetris, Columns or Nintendo's ArtStyle games if I wanne go zen.

Abyss: I payed only €0.49 so it's OK to have a game with a very limited gameplay idea sitting on my WiiU's HDD. While it does sound fun (you're underwater in a squid-like submarine collecting gems while trying not to collide with the cave walls around you) it is a) just way too simple and b) doesn't chance at all except the caves getting narrower and narrower.

X-Type Plus: The enhanced version of the sequel to an fun but – like Abyss – rather limited game named Z-Type (see phoboslab.org/#games). While I do enjoy twin-stick-shooters – Geometry Wars: Galaxies anyone? – this one isn't really my type of coffee as there aren't any endless levels but only a never-ending sequence of boss fights getting harder/bigger with each iteration. The biggest downer however is the missing Off-TV mode :-/

Sid Meier's Pirates! is the latest addition to my ever-growing PC big box collection.

On PC, I've only played the Gold version of the game, but I don't know how many hours I've spent cruising the 8-bit Caribbean on C64, the platform the game was originally developed for.
The box isn't in best shape – well, it's 27 years old – but it's complete and therefore including the floppy disk, the 80(!) pages long manual and the map of the Spanish Main. Not bad for €5 :-)

Hmm... I really dig their take on Dark Side of the Moon – partially it's even better than the original... yeah, Blaspheme! you might scream, but who cares? – so I'm quite excited that the Flaming Lips' next project is Sgt. Pepper (dubbed "With a Little Help From My Fwends" and to be released Oct 28).

Aaaaaaaaand yes, the album features Miley Cyrus.
Aaaaaaaaand yes, I already love them for that because tons of folks will be raging on the net while secretly loving the song/album.

Still not sick of GOAST even though I've been listening to their stuff all day long for the last couple of days. Do it too, it's fun :-)

PS: Lots of naked women but not a single naked man? Really? I'm sure there would have been some, if this video had been shot back in the 60s :-|

I'm re-reading +Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby right now and today, on my way home from work I reached page 56 were the story of the Lainz Angels of Death [1] is told in detail. It's quite unsettling when fiction and reality gets mixed like this, completely turning a fictional story that you might actually like to get into upside down from one page to another.
Also, I can't believe that I've forgotten about it. Both, the Lainz Angels being in the book as well as the whole Lainz Angels case itself.

Fuck*, this album is great.

The most fun, light-hearted and -headed, joyful and psychedelic Beatles/Floyd/Barrett/Beck/Gainsbourg/Gropper album since like whenever those had their last/latest album out.

Not that I want to play Sean Lennon's solo stuff down – especially Into the Sun could be on 24/7 – but GOASTT is different and IMHO better on so many levels that it shouldn't be compared with them at all.

* Ask my wife, me swearing (for joy or whatever reason) is something you don't hear every day decade – consider it my ver own "Seal of Quality" in this case.

Two new games in my #C64  collection:

Katakis: This one is a bit of a controversy as Manfred Trenz and Andreas Escher pretty much copied R-Type. It was later re-released as Denaris with some of the game's GFX changed (see goo.gl/iDjx1u)
HardBall!: Even though I didn't and still don't have a clue what Baseball is all about, I truely loved this sports game by Accolade as a kid. Same goes for 4th and Inches, also by Accolade.

Hmm... Monty Python's Live (mostly) is on the telly right now and while I do love all of their stuff, I couldn't stand it longer than a couple of minutes. It's not that they've lost their style or humor or personality or brilliance but seeing them playing through their sketches on this enormous stage with dance routines in between and fancy visuals and light FX, it just felt plain wrong and, well, cheap.

I'd better rewatch the Hollywood Bowl tape sometime.

As teased yesterday (goo.gl/4XneZL) here's two new big box games that I've added to my collections:

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis: A classic; nuff said. And in mint condition. And with the official hint book. And the enhanced Talkie version.
Last Ninja 2: As said, I thought I'd never own this US release by Activision of one of my most favorite games. Love the cartoonish artwork – definitely tops the European one (goo.gl/hWqfgp)

PS: Scans to follow tomorrow after picking up another game :-)

Oh boy, it's Christmas already :-)
Over the last two weeks, lots of bigger and smaller packages landed on my doormat (e.g. goo.gl/1mmjIq). Here's an overview:

The Terminator: Rampage: Jep, +Bethesda Softworks wasn't all about RPGs back in the 90s and before conquering the world with TES: Morrowind, they did infact manage the (almost) impossible – making good movie licensed games. I've played FutureShock and SkyNET a lot back in the day (and both are of course already in my collection) so I've thought I'd check out the earlier installments too.

The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall: Speaking of +Bethesda Softworks and +The Elder Scrolls – I've got my hands on a shiny US box of Daggerfall (in very good condition with all the stuff the box originally shipped with). The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall: Speaking of +Bethesda Softworks and +The Elder Scrolls – I've got my hands on a shiny US box of Daggerfall (in very good condition with all the stuff the box originally shipped with). Regarding my collection, I don't really wanna start hunting down various editions of a single game, but a) Daggerfall is my personal ultimate game and b) for €10 it was a real steal. Check out my Elder Scrolls collection: goo.gl/xNBnrD

Thief - Dark Project Another steal that's gonna replace my boring budget "Premium Collection" version of the game

Fallout: I've added the second game a few month ago (goo.gl/2592gc), so tracking down the first one was inevitable. Also, €5 as in five aka FIVE!

Half-Life: Opposing Force & Blueshift: Sure, Half-Life revolutionized the FPS genre and video gaming itself, but to me, the add-ons – yep, these are full blown extensions and no stupid here have a new hat/dress/weapon DLC – are sadly often forgotten despite Valve's genius idea of having the same setting and story but switching the main protagonist and therefore creating a completely different experience. Why hasn't copied anybody else this concept?

SimCity 2000: It's not my favorite SimCity – jep, that would be the original in it's enhanced version for PC, followed by the original for C64 – but it's definitely up high in my All-Time-Top-ChooseANumber list. Also, I've ignored all the other installments that followed, because, why trying to tweak/extend a perfect formula?

Ultima VII: Well, this one is slowly turning into a running gag. Nope, I'm not hunting down Ultima games, but I keep stumbling over offers that I just can't say no to, e.g. guess what I've payed in total for my complete Ultima VII set! €28. Nope, no zero missing here.

Ultima V (C64): And the joke goes on. Again, bought it for a fraction of what it's usually being sold/offered on eBay.

Elite (C64): A video game collection without a copy of Elite isn't really a video game collection, right?

Golden Axe (C64): A classic. With a poster (to be scanned and uploaded soon). And for a couple of Euros only.

All games (C64): goo.gl/ssERZC (front) goo.gl/B16ZCL (full)

Shiny Daggerfall big box is shiny.
It's too big for my scanner and taking a photo w/ flash apparently isn't a good idea either. Gonna have to wait till tomorrow, but I fear in daylight the box will look like the non-shiny European one, see goo.gl/Z7bFE8.

Back in 1981, +Richard Branson kicked off Virgin Games Ltd – which was later rebranded to Virgin Interactive before being acquired by Titus Software in 1998 which then again became Avalon Interactive which in the end ceased to exist in 2005 after Titus went bankrupt – and boy, did they published a lot of great games during the 80s and 90s.

The Autum-Winter 1990 games catalog below came with my big box of Golden Axe for C64 and gives a nice overview of the many platforms that co-existed at that point of time.
