Ray Ortega2,324What gear, software and services would you purchase if you were starting your first podcast? Find out what experienced podcasters +David Jackson  +Daniel J. Lewis  +Jeffrey Bradbury  and myself (Ray Ortega) would purchase if we were starting our first show and had the knowledge we now possess after years of producing podcasts. Based on experience in podcast production, we'll take a mock budget and spend it on what we think are the most valuable items for starting a podcast.  If you're starting your first podcast, thinking about starting a podcast or have been podcasting for years, join us in the chat to discuss where you'd put your money.  Would you spend most of your budget on a microphone or buy something cheaper and invest in software? Peter Vogel44,635My circle of educators who post about information technology from an education perspectiveSomeone asked me earlier today if they could have access to this circle of about 450 educators. For some reason a private sharing didn't work for him so I am sharing the circle publicly. Perhaps it will be of use to some others as well. The circle isn't perfect. There are sure to be some dormant accounts in it but that should be more than made up by the many devoted G-plussers you will find here.2014-11-14 04:49:174553311
Peter Vogel44,233Sharing a circle of terrific ICT educatorsHere in British Columbia we are about to head back to school. What better time to share this circle of people who share their expertise in Information and Communications Technology or Educational Technology if you prefer another label.I've been a Google+ user since day 1 and in fact I began using it, appropriately enough, while on a three-week stay at the birthplace of the World Wide Web, CERN, perhaps better known as the home of the Large Hadron Collider. I began building this circle of plussers while there. Now I must admit I haven't been good about culling dormant accounts of late so don't expect everyone in the circle to be a gem. Also, if you happen across this post and circle and wish to be included (on the basis outlined above) just send me a note.  2014-08-29 22:11:48451101

Peter Vogel24,368ICT / Ed Tech CircleIt's a long weekend here in Canada (we celebrate Thanksgiving well ahead of our neighbours to the south). Here is a circle of people with a passion for technology in education and who have shared that enthusiasm here on Google+. And that makes for an ideal group to share their energy with others perhaps just starting to explore the rich environment of G+. Consider this a Thanksgiving gift from Canada. 2012-10-07 00:18:36420304
Bob Calder3,079+Andrea Budding +Doug Peterson Here you go. An education circle. It is mixed higher ed academics with some K-12 folks. There are a few administrators and whatnot. Nobody really insane other than me. Please share this with other educators.2012-04-15 17:54:45338203
Peter Vogel18,019New to Google+? Interested in Ed Tech? Are you a teacher? It's the end of the work week (well, here in Vancouver it is). Adding this circle to your Google+ presence will surely see your stream filling with content that you may be able to put to use next week. The people in this circle are passionate about what they do in their working lives. They share that passion through their presence here on Google+.2012-04-13 23:05:25408815
Peter Vogel17,847Tech Ed CircleI am sharing the circle below for those who are looking for educators and those who actively write about education with an emphasis on information and communications technologies (let's call it tech ed for short). Just prior to posting this I used the Uncircle+ Chrome extension to comb the circle for inactive G+ accounts, resulting in the removal of around 60 from an initial set of 470. However, it appears that Uncircle+ is not completely reliable. At least one account remains that is apparently non-existent and a few accounts remain that were inactive during the period I specified. I wanted Uncircle+ to identify accounts with no activity since January 1.2012-04-09 01:23:424056313

A very welcomed feature.

Headers and Footers - the way you want them
One of your biggest requests (especially those of you who use +Google Docs to write academic papers) is to be able to customize how headers and footers appear on the first pages of your documents.

With today’s updates, you can now use different headers and footers on the first pages of your documents, which comes in handy for:
-   Following academic formatting guidelines (e.g. MLA, CMS, APA)
-   Starting page numbering on the second page
-   Making a title page without headers or footers

After inserting a header or footer in your document you’ll see a new checkbox--just tick it and you’ll be able to set a different header and footer on the first page.

There’s also a new Insert > Page Number menu that lets you customize how and where you start your page numbers--like on the bottom of the second page, for example.___A very welcomed feature.

I know that it says for triggers can have only one trigger of each type.   I get that for onEdit and formSubmit, but is that also the case for timebased triggers?

If so, how can I have function A run every hour and function B run every 2 hours?   They are not the same code.

What to do about bad (misguided, or the problem has been resolved) user reviews in the chrome webstore.   I have one review that the person did not use the product correctly and bashed it in the user reviews.   In-part because of the feedback, I have since cleared up the problem that the user experienced.

I don't want to nessisarly have the feedback removed or mark it as spam, but I would like to respond to it, stating that their problems are fixed, so that other users can see that.     I have already tried reaching out through the google plus but I have gotten no response.

Is timebased triggers broken for add-ons?

I get the error: "attempted to perform an action that is not allowed." when I run the below as an add-on.

ScriptApp.newTrigger('updateDay').timeBased().everyHours(1).create();
ScriptApp.newTrigger("updateDay").timeBased().everyDays(1).atHour(1).create();

I love the new Test feature under the publish menu.   But it only appears to work if I launch the test document from that dialogue.   If I open the test document from Drive it will not show my add-on.

I am trying to test a time-based trigger that needs to happen when the sheet is closed.

+Brian Gray Just made a new update to Choice Eliminator.   Would you mind testing it.

Removed form shut-off, and added a notification email to editors if an error has been suspected.
Added the ability to change the last choice text.

It would be awesome if Goobric could have a dual purpose (or a second extension  "StuBric"), that served as a dropbox for when students are logged in.

My thought:
During the roster folder creation a Dropbox folder gets created withonly teacher access.
When a student is signed in the Goobric Icon shows like it does for a teacher, but if a student clicks on it, it will open a list of the classes the student is assigned to, and a browse button.   Files posted through that would be automatically placed into the teachers DropBox.

Announcement: The new Goobric Web App (available, linked from the current Chrome extension)  can now capture audio comments -- great for providing a more personal touch when providing rubric-based feedback in Drive.

This was a major technical challenge to implement, and it may not yet be 100% perfect, so please help us move quickly on any bugs by reporting issues to the Doctopus G+ community.

Features:
- Records right from your browser (must be an HTML5 compatible browser like Chrome)
- Can record multiple audio clips along with a single rubric submission.  Audio clips are shared with all students, stored in the teacher's Drive, and linked from the Doc and / or automated email sent to students.
- Also stores links to the audio files in the rubric scores sheet.

I'm excited to announce the beta release of FormRouter. FormRouter routes Google Form responses to additional Google Spreadsheet destinations.

Imagine a teacher organizes a lesson around a series of student presentations. While each student presents, her peers record feedback on the presentation in a Google Form. To access all of the feedback, the teacher will have to open the spreadsheet containing the form responses. However, it is difficult to set up the destination spreadsheet so students can only see responses that apply to their presentation. With Form Router, in addition to collecting all form responses in one response spreadsheet, the teacher can also route the feedback for each student to individual student spreadsheets.

For those of you familiar with DocAppender or my first script, formRat, Form Router will hopefully feel very familiar.

Good-by old friend.

gClassFolders is no longer being supported. It uses some elements that have been depricated by Goolge. I suggest using Google Classroom or Doctopus Add-on for your classroom organization instead. This was a great program that paved the way for many innovations.

I do encourage you to check out my other Add-ons: https://sites.google.com/site/edlistenscripts/gclassfolders
