Methodology: out of 3200 people that I follow, using +Circloscope I ordered them according to relevance score (calculated by Google depending on whose posts I engage the most) and filtered for a value over 30, then filtered for whether they are active (when was their last post) and finally filtered by whether they were in my "must read" circles. |matthew rappaport||183,001||499 +Google+ ers that are RELEVANT to me according to the PLUSarithmThis MEGA +Shared Circles on G+ is literally the 1st 499 names that are listed when RELEVANCE is selected and 'Your Circles' is clicked under https://plus.google.com/circles (very close to it!)There are 15 that I didn't include in the circle but made the cut that are celebs or pages that I will list below as I wanted to share more users overall in this #sharedcircle which is almost entirely full of WIN.It is interesting that the first couple of rows are a mix of people I spent more time with in the beginning and with people I spend more time with now (which has interlap!) and of course how does one define 'spent time with' when talking about a social network place but the stream, hangouts, gtalk, +H.I.R.L., etc. The algorithm is not there yet to take note of all the data let alone measuring offline interaction but I tend to +mention people (a page in the Top 499, left out of this circle) a few people now and again, it seems the more you do that with a person or page, the more relevant they are to you in this list. I wonder if that data showing how many times you tagged someone and them you will be available in the future and if so, everyone can expect that number to be high for most from me!I do find it curious that +G+ Interviews which is a page started by +Peter G McDermott that I was helping with takes up my number 3 spot when I haven't tagged it in so long or done much with it in a bit nor felt I ever interacted with it to any level compared with those surrounding it. It's not a perfect system for sure and we all might have ones that slip through the crack that make us go, "Why is this person more relevant or WHO is this person?!"I am the +1 in this circle but everyone else is the +1000 zombies that +byron rempel will turn UNDEAD +1000 that rocks the PLUS. I can vouchfor almost all the content being interesting, all the people though, that might be another ... WOAH :)~+Having said that, I will produce the next 500 Relevance Circle today and I dp feel like many of them should be||2013-01-04 19:14:28||499||38||34||43||CC G+|

|AJ Durling||853||This is a bonus circle, and is actually pretty much where I started when I was creating my first circles - Top 500 PlussersIt is the people with the highest number of users - and is actually now only 308 people. When I first collected the Top 500 Plussers on Google+, I spend a lot of time weeding out the people whose posts in which I didn't particularly have an interest (e.g. almost all of the photographers - nothing against people who post photos to G+, it's just me: this is Google+, not Flickr; people who only ever promote themselves - so quite a lot of the pop musicians). The list that is left are people who, I think, actually contribute to the stream. You may find some surprising choices (Dolly Parton?! Actually, yes!). But I hope you enjoy it.I've kept the name Top 500 even though it is a lot fewer than 500. |Domingo Rogers||4,054||Welcome to Thursday - Today I wanted to share a circle I've been growing slowly ever since I got started with Google+ as a 1st Generation Adopter. I've aptly titled this circle Googlers. It mostly has those that are of course employees that work at Google, but also includes the pages of some Google products. Some share more information than others, but all are worth while to include in your circles.Do you have any other Googlers that you would recommend for this Circle?||2012-03-29 13:20:14||70||0||0||0||CC G+|
|P E Sharpe||37,044||You Turn Me OnThis is my happy little constantly evolving circle of sapiosexual delights. Formerly a circle in which I shared folks who like smart folks, it's now a circle comprising people who post things that excite and arouse me for one reason or another. I've previously explained the root source for the prefix sapio ; here it is again, but from wikipedia this time. The word sapience is derived from the Latin sapientia, meaning "wisdom". Related to this word is the Latin verb sapere, meaning "to taste, to be wise, to know"; the present participle of sapere forms part of Homo sapiens, the Latin binomial nomenclature created by Carolus Linnaeus to describe the human species. Linnaeus had originally given humans the species name of diurnus, meaning man of the day... he later decided that the dominating feature of humans was wisdom, hence application of the name sapiens. His chosen biological name was intended to emphasize man's uniqueness and separation from the rest of the animal kingdom..+Shared Circles on G+ +Sapiosexual +Public Circles +The Best Circles on Google+||2012-03-28 22:10:47||122||34||13||23||CC G+|

So what you've get here is a couple of journalists, tech writers, photographers, social thinkers, community managers, etc down to a few real people from smaller circles, all who are actively using the platform to a greater or lesser degree. This is not intended for power users, but for normal users and newbies wanting to add a little variety. |Chris Hoyt||3,129||Circle Back to GoogleLooking for people who work at Google? Here's a great circle that's a strong addition to any search you've already performed on Google Plus and that I'd include with any other search for Googlers that you've already conducted. What's interesting to me (and that I'm getting around to pointing out) is that whether you're just looking to expand your network as a member of Google+ or actively #recruiting and #sourcing online, I believe that you'll find infinite value from the proper care and feeding of Google Plus circles. In fact, if done correctly (and maintained) it's a fantastic way to filter your Google Plus stream and check the pulse of any company, organization or interest group. In the event you missed it, I did an article back in August that mentioned my interest in Circles and how I'd be exploring the management of them. (http://www.recruiterguy.net/recruiting-management-circles) So far, I've not been disappointed in the ability to really hone in on an area of interest by filtering my streams based on these circles and simply watching the conversation flow. Of course, being able to quickly see all of the updates from a particular company or interest group is just the start. The more proficient we get with our filtering, the easier it is to get the latest from fun entrepreneurs, CEO's, diversity interest groups, active and passive jobseekers and more - these are just a few of my own circles, mind you. You have the ability to filter by profession, seniority, geography, language, etc.The possibilities are endless!I'd love to hear how you, or others, are using circles to manage the information stream you've found in G+ so far.||2012-01-04 20:07:36||348||2||1||1||CC G+|

Of the 62 elements that compose your smartphone, none has a replacement that behaves equally well, and 12 have no known replacement at all.
Mining for rare-earth elements in landfills is going to be a lot harder than pulling them out of the earth's crust. Yikes.

Doesn’t the stuff you keep online deserve the same protection as the stuff you keep offline? Under a law called ECPA, government agencies in the U.S. can see what you’ve written and stored online without a warrant. Sign this petition to the White House and tell the government to get a warrant!

1) Twinkle: upload a new photo of something that sparkles (like a Christmas tree or a chandelier), and we'll gift you a version with lights that actually twinkle.
2) Snow: upload a new photo with snow to Google+, and we'll gift you a version with snow that’s actually falling.
In both cases, you'll get a notification when your #AutoAwesome image is ready. We hope these features help you celebrate the ‘wonder’ in winter wonderland! #googleplusupdate

Has anyone been able to find images or drawings of the new Type-C USB connector? It is supposed to be reversible, but that's about all anyone knows so far. I'd love to see a drawing of it and hear a critique of the draft designer.

Sad but not surprised to hear this. Hopefully the good guys will win here, but it will take a lot of energy that would best be spent on other things.

Great to see 4K-ish monitors coming down in price. I look forward to an easier time designing Retina-level mobile UIs on monitors like these.

Wanted: an app that allows you to takes your recent +Moves data and create a Strava ride from it.
Even better: the app would monitor your Moves activity and automatically create Strava rides from your detected bike rides.
Use case: you don't remember or can't be bothered to create a Strava ride as it is happening but you want credit for the ride after the fact.

Chefs of San Francisco: why isn't this dish on all of your menus? Fresh bread + fresh avocado + sea salt is better than any butter or olive oil you could offer me. Thank you for listening.

I was previously unaware of the beauty of world map using Cahill’s Butterfly projection. And it was interesting to read a critique of Fuller's Dymaxion Map.

I love seeing innovation like this in the vaccine space. The challenge here is in verifying that people are taking their pills to release the 2nd and 3rd doses of the vaccine.

What was the only jacket that increased the space that motorists passed cyclists? The one that had "POLICE" across the back. And all that did was increase the space by 5cm.

Very frank predictions on what ski resorts will be the most disrupted by global warming. TL;DR?: coastal resorts and resorts at lower elevations will go out of business. And even the resorts at higher elevation that get lots of snow will be negatively impacted by a shorter season and more year-to-year variability.

Tourism in oppressed countries
I'd always, almost instinctively been against visiting places like this, but the writer makes some points in favour of engagement.
"Building a tourist industry provides jobs for locals who'd otherwise be working in bomb factories, if they had work at all. It diversifies the North Korean economy away from weapons' exports. It provides and demands skills ranging from designing and building quality accommodation, to the people skills required in servicing hotels guests, and brings in investment in infrastructure, roads, railways, airports, health facilities and food supply chains that ever more areas will seek to benefit from as they open up to visitors.
All in, tourist dollars help to expand the economy and create dependents at every level on tourist dollars, which creates a great incentive not to go around starting wars. That's... more »

I agree with everything but the conclusion thrown in at the end. I also ponder how the modern Presidency as an institution seems to corrupt those who occupy it, whether through the politics of Washington or through pre-existing bureaucratic tendencies and culture (NSA much?). Even if we elected a true liberal reformist – which I'm not sure Obama ever was – could she or he even be successful in their mandate?

Go Sheryl! Lean in...
“The data shows that when men are more active partners in their marriages, their wives are happier,” she said. “Happier couples have more sex. So I’ve been telling men all over the country and the world if you you want to have more sex with your wives, don’t by flowers, do laundry.”
Sandberg said the [friend's husband, when asked to do the laundry] picked up the basket, but “he turned around and said, ‘Is this Sheryl Sandberg laundry? Is this foreplay? Because if this foreplay, I’m in. But if this is just laundry, there’s a game on.’ ”

It was sad to read this: that the NFL thinks that it is "3-5 years away from being ready for an openly gay player" – that's on top of the present injustice and lack of recognition to the estimated present-day 30-40 closeted gay NFL players (out of 2,000). 3-5 years of additional delay is delaying justice and respect. Bad move, NFL. Your commissioner and your progressive owners should take a stand here and force the issue.

Recent research on female-on-female aggression and some speculation the origins of "slut-shaming" and body-image pressure. I don't know enough about this topic to have a point of view, I am merely pointing out an interesting article as a son, brother, and friend. I'd be curious to hear critiques in both directions.

Great story. I'm glad Emma got closure. And she raises important, unanswered questions: where is the accountability for the team managers and owners of the US Postal Service team, many of whom retain prominent positions in the world of cycling.
