14-Year-Old Photographer's Amazingly Surreal Self Portraits
PHOTO CREDIT: Zev | Fiddle Oak
Via. My Modern Met: "Zev manages to present a variety of techniques in his collection of images that lean towards the surreal in his self-portraits, which also overlap with his ongoing Little Folk series. A common theme in these works is to play with size ratio. By shrinking himself down for his imaginative photos, Zev takes the viewer along on a magical journey of rediscovering the world around us where blades of grass stand at equal height, a leaf can be used as an umbrella, and an acorn makes a suitable seat. His self-portraits also show just how young he is, making it all the more astounding that he's capable of producing such quality pictures."

5 Tips on Using a Sunbounce Reflector
Reflectors, like all photo equipment, are a considerable investment. Buying every type of reflector, just to learn how to use them all, is a fast recipe for bankruptcy. There are so many shapes, sizes, and manufacturers to choose from, how does anyone learn know how to choose what to buy, let alone use? These tips from photographer Catherine Hall on using and choosing your reflectors will help to make it a bit easier:
1: Know your weather
Your main light source is the sun. A reflector takes what it is given from the sun and modifies and redirects it. That simple. If you are shooting in broad daylight at noon and use a hard silver reflector to shine that sun right into your subject’s face, your photo will be a hard lit, high contrast mess with squinted, tearing eyes and you will send your subject running. On the o... more »

From Desert to City: A Photographer Unveils Forgotten Stars
San Francisco 37° 48’ 30’’ N 2010-10-09 lst 20:58
Photographer credit: Thierry Cohen / Danziger Gallery, New York
Via. TIME : Thierry Cohen’s dazzling photographs are rich not only in implication and in sheer visual appeal, but in technical ingenuity. The laborious process of creating his nightscape images reveals exactly what a specific city’s inhabitants would see when gazing skyward on a clear night if pollution — atmospheric and, even more importantly, light pollution — were not obstructing the view.

Does this image look over-processed?
Working on a photo for a client and don't want to go overboard on the post. Does this image look over-processed or subtle enough to feel somewhat natural to you?

Tip of the Day: Find the Light
In continuation with the +Tamara Lackey inspiration series we expand to explore shoots within the home!
Via. Tamara Lackey Photography: Window light can be absolutely gorgeous, especially when it’s pouring in through a large picture window that just happens to be technically diffusing a soft light and delivering a softbox-quality effect. Much of what you do in a client’s home is figuring out what little “sets” you can create near the light you find; that is part of the fun of it, too.
