Fear, Post-Traumatic Stress and Growth

✿   Fear is a part of life whether it is fear of war and terrorism, or the general fears, like those of intimacy, abuse, inadequacy, a physical disease, surviving a natural disaster, or living with chronic pain.

✿   Research explains that most people who are exposed to a terrifying event do not have lasting problems. However, many people may have mild anxiety reactions, and 20% or more may develop serious emotional distress.

✿   People should consider receiving professional help if the emotional distress does not diminish over time, or if stress levels interfere with the ability to perform. http://goo.gl/UzO4X

✿   Post-traumatic growth http://goo.gl/NSmmlL & http://goo.gl/VK0DZx

If any of you are on twitter....it's this account that has travel & fun exploration pictures @Drcmac sometimes a serious post, but, not much.

This is how people are greeted once outside of the Johannesburg airport. It's their job & they perform a little show. You don't have to donate, but, most people do...the poverty is obvious (except for tourists).

Zambia

There were so many safari tours that on the last one I decided to stay and roam around the village and hotel. I must of sat here, contemplating jumping down for at least an hour.

When the tour came back and the guide saw me sitting on this wall (for protection) He said don't you dare...it very dangerous down there and her life is in danger. (People get attacked and eaten weekly) You know she needs the work.

When writing this article on pain....I found it interesting that our perceptions/bias date back all the way to Plato all the way up to behaviorism. More on the website and much more in the book.

One day (who knows when I'll have time) I' hope to upload info to sound cloud so they won't be so dry to read. Video's too, if I can survive my travel adventures.

These elephants came so close that they scared the guide and all of us in the jeep! That''s me moving away from him/her because she was about 1 foot away from my face.

Everyone in the jeep screamed & I moved quickly at stood up continuing with the video. When all was clear and everybody calmed down the guide screamed at us .....really ticking me off, but, he was very scared and afraid that the elephant was going to charge the jeep.

He was only curious & maybe making sure we were harmless because in the background shows that baby the herd was protecting.

I finally learned how to upload a video....here's 5 lions attempting to kill 1 of about 25 Cape Buffalo (at Kruger National Park in Africa)

We chased them in a jeep for hours (who knew these events can last up to 48 hours) The lions at this point are being chased by the Cape Buffalo and sometimes kill them.

The field guide said this event lasted 36 hours and the lions got one and that really isn't much food for the family of five.

Hi

Much of this (plus a lot more) is in the book. But, audio & text files will become available soon for the public and all healthcare providers/psychologist also who are interested for continuing education credits.

Vaccines: facts not fear. Most people in the US do vaccinate their children. Physicians and health care providers need to focus on the small minority of parents that resist.

I continue to work on doing these 5 CEU's audio files for continuing education credits (psychologists, nurses, social workers & the public) But plan on soon doing some free educational audio uploads and adding onto the website and maybe learn how to do podcasts.

Ray Lewis

I visited Kruger National Park in Africa a couple of years ago. This was just 1 out 4 lions stalking a herd of 25-30 Cape Buffalo. BTW these Buffalo's do kill lions, especially when in herds.

The image doesn't even start to give the experience justice. (One day I will learn how to upload the video)

Fitness A Historical Journey In Time
by +Dr. Cheryl Ann MacDonald, Psy'D.

➤   One of man’s greatest achievements since the beginning of existence is the ongoing quest for good health.

➤   Throughout primitive times, man’s hunt for physical strength has been guided by a passion for surviving. The concept of fitness remains paramount to health and well-being though for most it is no longer driven by the need to outrun predators or prevent hunger.

How long does it take to become a Licensed Clinical Psychologist?

✿    This is one of the questions I get asked frequently from students, patients and friends. And of course the answer is somewhat nuanced.

1.  If someone wants to practice independently and open up their own practice, company, etc.

Four years undergrad
Five years Masters & Doctorate Degree (2000 hrs in internships)

✿  Whatever your age, you'll get to start to do what I do in 10-12 yrs

Exploring Multiple Sclerosis

This article discusses

     ➤   The Dark Factors
     ➤   The Pleasure Paradox
     ➤   The Tricks and Treats
