Daria Musk3,819,284*Expand to read the story and learn how to join live!* Three years ago to the day, I stood in front of my computer - a guitar in my hands, songs in my heart, fingers trembling - about to press a button that said, "Hangout". I was still waterlogged with rainy nights of lugging my amps into tiny clubs and tears from the not-knowing-what-would-happen to my dreams. That night, when I hit "Hangout" you saved my dreams, you saved me. Your faces popped in. We sang all night. Six hours later my heart was six million times bigger and I would never be the same. Every year I want to celebrate that day. I want to thank you face to face. I want to meet back at our special place and sing your praises. It's time for Hangoutiversary III.  *PLEASE, BE CELEBRATED* So please, meet me on July 16th. Right here, inside the place where we had our virtual first date. Comment back and let me know that you're planning to come, I will organize special circles of you all, so we can rotate the 10 seats and meet and meet and meet again. I'll sing our songs of celebration. I'll sing new songs of adoration, to you and this crazy world that gives us a chance just when we think maybe it can't. Come with your hopes and your dreams to be amplified and your updates and your friends and families and fantasies. Let's sing 'til our throats go weak and dance in front of computer screens, like the silly beautiful people we know ourselves to be.   *HOW TO HANG* In case you're new or rusty all you have to do to join this Hangout is:   ✪ RSVP a big fat *yes* here. ✪ On Wednesday, July 16th come back to this page when the Hangout starts (6PM Eastern US Time). ✪ You can watch or click "join" to on my page @100974258168375166691! ✪ Don't for get to comment and let me know if you want to join and around what time. I'll be sure to circle you and invite you when you're web-camera-ready! ✪ Come with song requests, stories and even a "dream to amplify". The theme of this hangout is #amplifyyourdreams  cause that's what you guys did for me. You turnt it up to 11! *SRSLY, MESSAGE ME* Send me a private message or chat or comment to me here if you'd like to arrange a special invite or if you're new and want to join the family and need some tips for getting in. I think I'm going to make invite circles for each half hour, so let me know when you want to join. Everyone's invited. It's really the greatest possible gift, just to let me sing for you and get to know you again and again and again.  *SPREAD THE LOVE* Share this invite too. Let's grow the family. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine and deserves some showcased virtual face-to-face time. *XO, Daria* PS. *CONNECTED BY* This concert celebration is being supported by our new friends at CO-OP Connected Credit Unions. CO-OP is all about connection, just like our epic House Of Blues Concert, they've partnered up with us to make sure we stay together and keep banking on this amazing feeling we get when we connect through ethernet lines HANGOUTIVERSARY CONCERT2014-07-17 00:00:00385

This has been ongoing for years Saudis are getting away with it. They're the main and root cause of all terrorism in the Middle East. The blame also goes to their allies for letting Saudis to do whatever.

"According to an analysis of the Global Terrorism Database by Leif Wenar of King’s College London, more than 94 percent of deaths caused by Islamic terrorism since 2001 were perpetrated by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and other Sunni jihadists. Iran is fighting those groups, not fuelling them. Almost every terrorist attack in the West has had some connection to Saudi Arabia. Virtually none has been linked to Iran."

Good laundry tips from Keith.

Laundry Lessons

There are a few things you can do to help your clothes last longer and extend the life of your washing machine.

Don't overload

I post about this a lot, but only because so many people do it. Stuffing your washing machine is both bad for your clothes and bad for your washer. Don't do it. Smaller loads are better.

Watch the lint

Don't wash items that freely give lint with other items that readily accept lint. This usually means not washing towels with your clothes.

Ladies, let's talk about bras

Bras that have clasps or underwires should be handwashed or washed inside a mesh laundry bag. Otherwise, clasps will snag other clothes during the wash and underwires will break loose and end up in the drain motor. (not good) Sports bras are okay to wash loose in the washing machine.

Zip it

Zippers should be closed before putting the item in the washer. The teeth of an open zipper will snag other clothes during the wash.

Flip it

To preserve color and finish flip pants inside out before placing them in the washer.

Pat it down

Check all pockets before placing any item in the washer. Don't just look, stick your hand in the pocket. As a service tech, I've found coins, earrings, keys, paper, and other items clogging the drain motor. Empty your pockets. Don't assume they're already empty. ___Good laundry tips from Keith.

Another reason to like Chrome browser.

via +Praveen K

Steve Jobs supposedly said, "If the user is having a problem, it's our problem."

As Chrome developers, we're always looking to make the browser faster, more stable, more power-efficient, less memory-hungry. But many times the limiting factors aren't in our code.

* One of the biggest causes of instability on Windows is malware that mucks with Chrome's data on disk and tries to inject itself into Chrome processes. Shocking numbers of users have malware. The majority have no idea and blame Chrome when it's slow and crashy.
* An investigation into power usage during audio playback found that Microsoft's audio driver was raising the system timer frequency unnecessarily. (I believe Microsoft is fixing the bug.)
* Gigabytes of memory use on certain Macs are apparently due to a leak in the Intel graphics drivers. A workaround we just inserted in Chrome, which doesn't completely avoid the problem, still looks like it massively trims memory use on these machines. (I believe we're reaching out to Intel.)

These sorts of anecdotes are not intended to cast blame, but to illustrate that solving these bugs is part of the job of providing a high-quality cross-platform product. No one online writing articles about how browser X uses so much more memory than browser Y investigates and finds that it's because browser X triggers a bug in the graphics drivers. No one publishing videos of one browser playing Netflix for hours longer than another details where the power is going and why. And they shouldn't have to. Because ultimately, those problems are our problems, even if they're not in our code.

We will keep trying to solve these problems for you. Apologies if it takes longer than you feel like it should. Maybe this helps explain a bit of "why" :)___Another reason to like Chrome browser.

"There is a story I would like to tell you about a woman who practices the invocation of the Buddha Amitabha's name. She is very tough, and she practices the invocation three times daily, using a wooden drum and a bell, reciting, "Namo Amitabha Buddha" for one hour each time. When she arrives at one thousand times, she invites the bell to sound. (In Vietnamese, we don't say "strike" or "hit" a bell.) Although she has been doing this for ten years, her personality has not changed. She is still quite mean, shouting at people all the time. A friend wanted to teach her a lesson, so one afternoon when she had just lit the incense, invited the bell to sound three times, and was beginning to recite "Namo Amitabha Buddha," he came to her door, and said, "Mrs. Nguyen, Mrs. Nguyen!" She found it very annoying because this was her time of practice, but he just stood at the front gate shouting her name. She said to herself, "I have to struggle against my anger, so I will ignore that," and she went on, "Namo Amitabha Buddha, Namo Amitabha Buddha." The gentleman continued to shout her name, and her anger became more and more oppressive. She struggled against it, wondering, "Should I stop my recitation and go and give him a piece of my mind?" But she continued chanting, and she struggled very hard. Fire mounted in her, but she still tried to chant "Namo Amitabha Buddha." The gentleman knew it, and he continued to shout, "Mrs. Nguyen! Mrs. Nguyen!" She could not bear it any longer. She threw away the bell and the drum. She slammed the door, went out to the gate and said, "Why, why do you behave like that? Why do you call my name hundreds of times like that?" The gentleman smiled at her and said, "I just called your name for ten minutes, and you are so angry. You have been calling the Buddha's name for ten years. Think how angry he must be!" - Thich Nhat Hanh

The Kashmir issue.

There are no good sides in Kashmir.

The usual overviews of Kashmir blame one side: everything is either "India's fault" or "Pakistan's fault". Of course reality is a lot more complicated than that.

Let's get India out of the way first. India is to blame for creating the Kashmir mess in the first place, by systematically neglecting the state and diluting the terms by which it joined the country after independence. The same Kashmiris who sided with India when Pakistan invaded the state in 1965 rose up in rebellion in 1989. Why? Indian media never asks this question but actually it's well known.

Ever since the early 1970s, Indian governments have treated the state as a colony, foisting "leaders" on it according to their loyalty to the regime of the day in Delhi while ignoring democracy. The climax was the 1987 state elections, which saw large scale fraud to ensure Delhi's choice, Farooq Abdullah, came to power. One of the defeated candidates, Muhammad Yusuf, fled to Pakistan, changed his name to Syed Salahuddin, and formed the pro-Pakistan rebel group Hizbul Mujahideen. By 1988 popular discontent had risen to the extent that masses of Kashmiri youth had flooded across the border to Pakistan for armed training. And yet India chose to ignore the causes of the problem totally.

Then, as militancy gripped the state, India's response was just brute force. We poured in troops, until there were almost half a million of them in the state and it was in all but name a military dictatorship ruled by retired generals turned politicians. Lots of people were "disappeared" on suspicion, tortured, summarily murdered, and turned up in mass graves. This did reduce, over the course of two decades, the incidence of violence, but did nothing to win the Kashmiris over. Even when, about ten years ago, violence was at an all time low, the Hindunazis had been reduced to near irrelevance, there was a non Hindunazi government in Delhi, and Kashmiris had actually voted in an election without being pushed to vote literally at gunpoint, absolutely nothing was done to address their grievances. Inevitably, violence built up again, with a new generation of rebels....who have turned out to be far more charismatic and media savvy than those who went before. And India's response? More occupation, more oppression, repeating exactly whatever was tried before and failed. Only, earlier India used to try and pretend we didn't commit atrocities. Now the Hindunazis and their tame media glory in committing them, like the human shield episode the other day.

Then there is Pakistan. I'm convinced that, whatever it claims, Pakistan does not want the Indian part of Kashmir. It would far rather keep the situation simmering indefinitely as

1. A way to bleed India and
2. To distract attention from its own government's internal failures.

By late 1989, the authority of the Indian government had vanished in Kashmir except for the Hindu and Buddhist dominated Jammu and Ladakh areas. The Indian military presence in Kashmir was at the time marginal compared to today and the border was almost entirely unfortified, which is why the thousands of Kashmiri youth could go over for training and return. If Pakistan had invaded Kashmir at the time, as it had in 1947 and 1965, it would have been met with welcome instead of resistance like the last two times. Kashmiris were expecting it and it could have taken the state easily. The shambolic Indian Congress party government of Rajiv Gandhi had just lost a guerrilla war in Sri Lanka, was up to its neck in corruption allegations, and the Janata Dal government which replaced it in 1990 was even worse. Neither of these could have successfully recaptured Kashmir. It's doubtful they'd have even attempted to.

So the situation was ideal for Pakistan to take Kashmir in the winter of 1989-90. But it made no move to.

Not only did it not try to take Kashmir, it actively sabotaged the Kashmiri militancy to make sure it didn't succeed . At the time by far the strongest Kashmiri militant group was the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which was pro-independence, not for accession to Pakistan. The Hizbul Mujahideen was marginal, and the jihadi groups (Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Muhammadi, Harkatul Ansar etc) which later became infamous didn't even exist. So what did Pakistan do?

First, it systematically sabotaged the JKLF, diverting arms and funds to other groups, especially the Hizbul Mujahideen. But it didn't stop there.

While Pakistan had of course happily taken the opportunity to foster militancy in Kashmir, it began actively splitting the recruits into tiny and totally ineffective mini groups. This was of course very attractive to immature half educated toughs who suddenly each got to be a commander, but it wrecked the insurgency, achieving only an extreme increase of violence. And this is exactly what Pakistan wanted - the strategy was to "bleed India to death by a thousand cuts". The Kashmiris Pakistan claims to love so much were merely tools to that end.

Then there are the Kashmiris themselves. More than anyone else they've sabotaged their own chances. First, they claim to want "azadi" (freedom) - but they can't make up their minds what this "azadi" might be. Is it accession to Pakistan? Is it independence from both India and Pakistan? Is it some kind of autonomy deal within India, going back to what Kashmir had between 1948 and 1953? Since the Kashmiris themselves can't decide, and since they're at each other's throats over the question, how exactly does anyone solve the problem?

Then there is the way they've sabotaged themselves. Repeatedly, their politicians have sold out to Indian governments....but they've failed to come up with new politicians. They've kept voting for the same morally bankrupt political dynasties, the Abdullah and Sayeed dynasties, each of which is worse than the other. How does any real political voice grow when the political stage is filled with stooges and puppets?

Not just that, the Kashmiris can't even come up with a unified separatist leadership to talk to Delhi. They have something called the All Party Hurriyat Conference, a squabbling cabal of failed politicians, former militants, and marginalised clerics whose only purpose seems to be each man for his own advantage. This Hurriyat Conference is so irrelevant that the Hizbul Mujahideen military commander in Kashmir recently threatened to behead them, and the protestors on the streets have said they won't listen to anything the Hurriyat says.

And then there was the expulsion of the Pandits. Pandits are Kashmiri Hindus - not Hindu migrants from elsewhere in India, but ethnic Kashmiris who happen to be Hindus. They were mostly academics, doctors, lawyers, and small time businessmen, totally uninvolved in politics and neutral in the insurgency. In January 1990, the militants ordered them to leave Kashmir at once, overnight, and forced over 300,000 of them to flee, leaving everything behind. A few who stayed back were summarily murdered, and the police and army did exactly nothing to protect them. And who exactly expelled the Pandits? Was it a jihadi group? Was it the non-jihadi but pro-Pakistan hardline (by Kashmir standards) Islamist Hizbul Mujahideen? No, it was that relatively secular, pro independence JKLF which was responsible.

To this day the Pandits are refugees in their own country, and their plight is routinely brought up by Hindunazi scum to attack anyone who protests Indian policy in Kashmir. These same Hindunazis never ask why, when Hindunazi governments have ruled India from 1998 to 2004 and 2014 to date, and also in coalition form the current state government of Kashmir, they have never ever made the slightest attempt to return the Pandits to Kashmir. Is it that the Pandits are merely another convenient tool?

There are no good sides. Except for the civilians caught in the middle, and all they do is suffer.

It makes me sick.___The Kashmir issue.
