Really, really proud of how this one turned out. It's 3300 words and it also has a video, so it's a big read -- but I like the phone and despite some unfinished pieces, to me, this is the phone to beat.

The HTC One is certainly better designed, but this one has the ecosystem.

This is a great video unboxing of Glass via Glass. The video quality isn't great -- maybe it was the lighting but it's a bit dark. Still, it's great to see some real-world examples of +Google Glass.

I really do love the Google+ app for iPad. It's preferable to me over using G+ in the browser. I just wish Google would integrate G+ web links so that they can be opened within the app in either Chrome or Safari. X-callback would support it and it would save me from having to see the now ugly mobile web view when I run across a link in the browser.

Some highlights from my keynote conversation with +Avner Ronen of +Boxee at #NABShow  this week.

My favorite response from Avner wasn't included in this clip -- but it came at the end when I asked him about his thoughts on Apple's potential entry into the living room. He started out and said "I'm going to start with the bullshit answer" -- and proceeded to tout the party line about how it would be a good thing and "validate our position" in the space, "competition is great," etc. Then he cut the bullshit and acknowledged that Apple has the potential to suck the oxygen out of the room and that could be potentially scary for a startup like Boxee.

All in all, I think the whole conversation went really, really well. Look for my own NABShow wrap-up post for +Mashable later today!

A few weeks ago we revealed that we were seeking Explorers to help us shape the future of Glass. To do that, we asked people across Google+ and Twitter to tell us what they would do #ifihadglass . We could never have imagined such an enthusiastic response! There were so many creative, diverse, and (sometimes) crazy applications. We’ve certainly learned a lot through this whole process and it’s inspiring to hear how much passion there is for Glass. 

Now for the really exciting bit... we know you’ve all been waiting patiently, which is why we’re pleased to announce that the results are in. Over the next few days we’ll be sending out invitations to our Explorer Program through Google+ and Twitter. So, keep a lookout for tweets and G+ posts from @projectglass and +Project Glass  to see if you’ve been invited.

My Nexus 10 won't boot -- for a while I could get a flicker of a "charged" sign to show up, but now I get nada. Can't turn it on, have tried pressing and holding volume and power. I think it's borked. 

Now to figure out how to do an RMA.

I really, really, really like this app. It works great on Android and iOS and changed my mind about the messaging space. I thought it was too crowded and that the market was pretty much done. Even if MessageMe isn't a hit, it proves that there is still room for innovation.

The basic idea is that in addition to chat, you can also affix other types of content in your chats (group or individual) and these allow for context. For instance, if I want to share a video, I can upload it, choose from my phone OR search YouTube for a clip I want to share. It's totally fast, totally seamless and it lets you get more stuff out there without having to leave the app.

Brilliant.

I’m still new to this Google thing, so I’d like to stress that the stuff below is my personal view as a web developer.

Opera is ditching it’s Presto engine in favour of Chromium, which is WebKit + V8 + other bits (http://my.opera.com/ODIN/blog/300-million-users-and-move-to-webkit). I’m pretty split on how I feel about this.

I’m a fan of Chromium, I think it’s the best combination of engines we have, especially in terms of performance. IE is making strides in that area, but they support one OS, an OS they’re also in control of. Chromium is performing better across multiple platforms. As a Chromium fan, I’m delighted to hear Opera is joining.

At risk of getting a slap from my employer, I always felt that Opera “got” the web better than the other browser vendors. They saw the internet as a “web of sites”, not a “store of apps”. Even their articles on“Woo yey! New technology!” ... more »

A powerful piece by Adam Gopnik, showing that gun control does indeed reduce gun violence. One important reason is that—as show by a great deal of sociological research and work done by the NYPD—making crime even a little bit harder makes it much, much rarer. #newtown
