Euro Maestro31,340Monika and me - Why I love Google Plus ! #whyilovegoogleplus   #rogerandme   #euromaestro  Why do I love Google plus ? It's because of all the great people here that I meet and that I get to interact with.I've met quite a few in the last week IRL and that's been quite a pleasure.  I've tried to encourage other people to join as well so they can also enjoy all the great interaction on Google plus.   Some of you may recall that I started the +Roger and Me project to encourage +Roger Ebert to follow +Mike Elgan in posting on Google plus.  While Roger still isn't posting here, the project was a success in demonstrating the community effort that is alive and well here. One of the people that I have been blessed to interact with is +Monika Ljubičić She is such a great person and has put together a wonder list of people that she interacts with. Here's Monika's post and what she has to say about each person !https://plus.google.com/u/0/110788105777643761839/posts/3hmohoGmPZv  Monika says she doesn't do circles but I do.I've put together a circle below that is the people in her list.  If I left someone out accidentally, I'm so sorry I tried to be careful. As I said before, Monika is a great person but she has been going through some difficult times lately. As someone that has also had some difficult moments lately, I can appreciate how difficult it can be. I think far too often it is easy to forget that there are people behind these posts.   Why not show Monika our love ?! 2012-11-15 11:33:3389472556

Laurence Hubbard10,931My 100 most relevant Plussers according to GoogleSince everyone is sharing one of these today, here's mine.If you got notified about this Circle, it's because you're in it!If you're new to G+ and want to pick up a circle of amazing people, this is a good one :-)2012-07-24 23:45:1010035950
Gay USA Pages3,724Top RelevancyI've seen a couple of these now from folks like +Carter Gibson and +Farran Lee.  Thought I'd toss ours out as well for you!  According to Google+, these are the 99 most relevant people for us (100 if you include us).  There's a nice mixture of both pages and profiles in it.  A good chunk of the circle posts LGBT related posts and the remainder are either members of the community or friendly towards it... or of course, just generally awesome people we interact with.  A quick disclaimer: Before you add the circle, be sure to check them out.  I know there are a couple I'll have to mute a few of their posts because they post NSFW imagery on occasion, but it is sporadic and the rest of their posts are suitable so no need to worry too much, but want to make sure you're forewarned, just in case when you add them its one of those sporadic moments! If you'd like to share yours, go to your circles page, click on "Your Circles" (if not selected already) and then change the drop down to "Relevance" (again, if not already that way) and create a circle with the first 99 people. Then share away!  Why 99?  If you include yourself, that's a pretty 100 people.  Not only is it a circle that isn't overwhelming, but it is also a small enough amount you can let them know that they're relevant to you... like you all who got a notification about this circle.  :)   #lgbt   #circleshare  2012-07-24 18:29:0010023218

Carter Gibson35,055The Best Engagers on Google+Circle. Share. Enjoy.Engagers are better than power users. Power users just post often and are shared for their dedication to posting, but not for their dedication to actually talking to you. I'm not so sure that's the best way to share. The people in this circle not only have a wide variety of quality posts, but have built a community they're dedicated to bringing new people into. They're consistant, thoughtful, and many of them I consider my real life friends. Circling them assures a better stream. Not included? Sorry! Maybe I forgot you! tam frager1,873Google plus tip, Google+ tipIt's been a while since I've shared a tip, but this is an important one, I think.I was asked a couple of days ago about where folks who are new to Google+ should go -- asked for a "new members" page. Instead of a new members page, if you're looking to get started with the G+ community, try adding this circle. It's the circle I've made of folks who seem to actively engage in conversations here. They post in their streams and they post comments in other people's streams. Starting and engaging in conversation is the best way to use Google+. Don't feel you need to know someone before you circle them; just circle people you find interesting. Comment on posts when you have something to say. Engage.2011-12-12 09:14:31203403

Tom Rolfson2,700My first general recommendation of people to circle. If this circle doesn't fill your stream with good stuff... nothing will!In this circle you'll find a great all-around group of musicians, photographers, TV/movie stars, Googlers, journalists, web development specialists, healthcare professionals and lots of us other "everyday people". I recommend adding the circle, follow their posts and sort as you will. I know I've missed some of the thousands of great people I follow for inclusion and will update the list periodically. If you'd like to be on my recommended user list I look for these things: Public postings, profile info, respectful interaction with others. If this fits you, please drop me a note public or private. *If I'm following you and have forgotten you here, please forgive me. I have many people in unique circles and may have missed searching a couple.Tom Rolfson shared a circle with you.2011-10-12 23:10:37334502127
Carter Gibson3,702EngagersYou should definitely reshare this circle with your friends ;)These are people who have engaged me steadily. Whether it's commenting, sharing, or hanging out, friendly, cerebral, and active defines all of them. If you have a ton of people in your circles but have little interaction with them, you need these people in your Google+ experience. If you think I forgot you by mistake (which I probably did) Private Message me. Don't do it here. It's awkward for everyone :P I'll post an update one later.Carter Gibson shared a circle with you.2011-10-09 02:26:4281953142

"In his opinion, Posner makes these points with trenchant humor. But beneath his droll wit lies a moral seriousness that gay marriage opponents, even those on the high court, will be unable to shrug off. The modern arguments against gay marriage may be breathtakingly silly—but by mocking them, we ignore the profound harms that marriage bans inflict on gay people and their families. By placing these families at the center of his analysis, Posner restores the equal protection clause to its rightful place as the safeguard for all whom the state seeks to harm unjustly. His message for those who hope to demean gay people and their children is clear: Not on my watch."

'Ultimately, I do not care what personal opinions you hold about whether I or anyone in my community should be able to marry, or not. But when you act on that opinion and in any way impinge on our rights to do so, I do care. I will not "tolerate" it. Not now, not ever.'

'Instead of suing President Obama for governing, the House GOP should try it sometime.

"Our country, our economy, and our children -- all of them -- would be much better for it."

Eastman argued the reason he is losing isn't because he's full of crap, but because a cadre of "activist political judges" are ruling against him. He claims Democrats appointed these judges, "This is just raw politics." Sadly for him, however, he is once again making up facts. Reporter Steve Friess notes, "just seven of the 22 federal judges who have ruled in the various cases since Windsor were appointees of Democrat presidents;" Republicans appointed the rest. Nor should we forget that a Reagan appointee decided the Prop 8 case and Justice Anthony Kennedy, another Reagan appointee, wrote the Windsor decision.

It would appear that facts and John Eastman barely have a passing acquaintance.

"We once believed that there was something morally wrong and psychologically “broken” about being LGBT. We know better now. We once believed that sexual orientation or gender identity were somehow chosen or could be changed. We know better now. We once thought it was impossible to embrace our sexual orientation or sexual identity as an intrinsic, healthy part of who we are and who we were created to be. We know better now."

"And yet the inanity continues full-throttle, because gay marriage opponents have backed themselves into the corner they’ve always dreaded. They can’t give up their quest now—but they’re barred from citing the explanations that they truly believe, deep down, to be correct. The result is the current tailspin of idiocy, a shifting argument with rootless standards roaming from rationale from rationale in a desperate attempt to find shelter from the storm of progress swirling around it. It’s a pathetic display, but not an unpleasant one to witness. Stripped of all logic and reason, the argument against gay marriage has been reduced to gibberish. Enjoy the babbling while it lasts."

'The task of progressives, then, is to unmask the bigoted core of those camouflaged prejudices before they become enshrined in law. It won’t be easy. Many liberals are still convinced that bigots just need a bit more time to let go of their animus, but the bigot is under no such delusions. “He knows his enemy,” Bronner writes. And in the end, it’s the same enemy the bigot has always had: “The idea that things can be different.”'

"This case is about Appellants’ not-so-veiled attempt to gut the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," Edwards wrote in his dissent Tuesday. "This claim is nonsense, made up out of whole cloth. There is no credible evidence in the record that Congress intended to condition subsidies on whether a State, as opposed to HHS, established the Exchange."

For four years, Paul Ryan and his allies in the House of Representatives have passed legislation to turn Medicare into a voucher system. Their plan could force future seniors into the expensive private insurance system with a voucher for care -- which may or may not cover all the costs.

Medicare is very much at risk. If we want to make sure Medicare is protected down the road, we need to take a stand today.  Sign up below to help us reach 150,000 grassroots supporters in support of Medicare.
