Derek Ross1,327,989*The original Android Hangout Show returns!* Hi. I was the first guy on Google+ to start doing live Hangout Shows for Android news and discussion way back during the Hangouts on Air beta days. My team and I ran a successful Android related Hangout show for for 74 weeks in a row before our hiatus. Our show was watched and listed to by thousands every week via Google+, YouTube, and various Podcast platforms. *The band is getting back together...* ...or at least the lead singer. I've come to realize that the shows offered today just don't cut it. They're not professional. They're boring. They don't offer any value such as show guests or giveaways. They're just not what my team used to provide and it angers me. I'm going to try my best to change that for you guys. I'm tentatively going to relaunch our Android on Air show next month. The time and date are subject to change pending renovations to my office. If everything can be completed by then, I'll be back in business providing you with quality HoA Android goodness. The original Android Hangout Show returns!2014-06-06 03:00:0098

No, AT&T didn't announce 5G today. It's really 4G with more features. But I guess "4G now on par with T-Mobile" is too wordy.

Don't fall for their marketing scam. The 5G standard won't even be finalized until 2019.

Alphabet's Waymo deploys 500 self-driving minivans to Phoenix for your daily use

Over the course of this trial, we’ll be accepting hundreds of people with diverse backgrounds and transportation needs who want to ride in and give feedback about Waymo’s self-driving cars. Rather than offering people one or two rides, the goal of this program is to give participants access to our fleet every day, at any time, to go anywhere within an area that’s about twice the size of San Francisco.

If you live in Phoenix.... you better sign up!

Google could release their own ad-blocker for Chrome

The ad-blocking feature, which could be switched on by default within Chrome, would filter out certain online ad types deemed to provide bad experiences for users as they move around the web.

Seeing as advertisements are main source for Google's revenue, I'm sure if they introduced a feature like this, the ad-blocker would only block ads on sites that are 'bad' or don't meet certain criteria.

Since Chrome is the world's #1 web browser, behavior as this would greatly impact all users across the web, across all browsers and platforms. Everybody wins.

I hope this report is true. Ads are a necessary evil and we need a better solution than just blocking everything.

Yeah, kind of a head scratcher when his company just announced a few smartwatches...I guess he doesn't want anyone to buy them.

That said, I think the new generation is pretty ugly and sticking with my first gen Huawei Watch.

Why do I use mine? Mainly for notifications and simple or quick replies without pulling my phone out. I hadn't worn a watch since 1998, when I bought first mobile phone. Android Wear works perfect for me as I'm not a watch guy, at least I wasn't, until a couple years ago.

Google Home is about to launch multi-user support

Read the title. Now read it again. Yes, itshappening.gif and you better be ready for it.

As mentioned last year by Mario Queiroz, Google's vice president of product management, the ultimate goal for Home is to be able to identify different people in the room. That way, when you and someone else both ask Google Home for your daily schedules, "you get different results.

Drumroll and itshappening. H/t to +MarsDog for update.

Remap that Bixby button to something acctaully useful!

Want a Samsung Galxy S8, but think Bixby is a horrible attempt at Samsung trying to copy a Google serivice once again? Then this article is for you! You can very easily remap the hardware Bixby button on your S8 to Google Assistant or any other app.

Me, I'd recommend just sticking with a Google Pixel.

Wow... This security reacher is BRUTAL when talking about Tizen's security.

"It may be the worst code I've ever seen," he told Motherboard in advance of a talk about his research that he is scheduled to deliver at Kaspersky Lab's Security Analyst Summit on the island of St. Maarten on Monday. "Everything you can do wrong there, they do it. You can see that nobody with any understanding of security looked at this code or wrote it. It's like taking an undergraduate and letting him program your software."

It's like taking an undergraduate and letting him program your software."___

Android surpasses Windows as Internet users most used Operating System

Android is now the world's most-used platform for getting online according to these latest figures. This represents a natural progression from the difference in devices shipped every year — more than a billion for Android versus 200-something million PCs per year for Windows — but StatCounter is among the first to claim that Android is now in the lead in usage numbers as well.

Out of all of Google's April Fool's Day jokes, this one made me laugh the most, because it's so absolutely absurd, yet people would actually use these, if they were real. You know who you are, person that takes photos on their 10 inch tablet in public.

Watch Android Auto completely destroy Apple CarPlay. Wow. Siri is a pathetic, horrible assistant that would get fired if she were real.

Floral patterned wallpaper is all the rage these days. I cannot wait to Andy Rubin's upcoming wallpaper when he's ready to fully reveal it to the world.

Also, phone with basically zero bezel.

The next Allo update includes a 'quick selfie' button which shows a tiny live preview, when tapped takes a quick circular selfie, and posts it to your conversation. Thankfully, this abomination can be disabled via settings.

It's not that the feature itself is bad, it's just that the live preview always being visible lessens Allo's beautiful UI. I do not like it. But as I said, you can hide it. I guess if you're into sending nonstop selfies in a Snapchat type of scenario, then this feature is for you. Go you.

Who knows, maybe this feature won't make it out of beta?

AT&T, Verizon join companies pulling ads from Google and YouTube

Ouch. More companies, some of the largest avertisers in the US, are pulling ads from Google and YouTube. Brands are upset over their ads appearing on content related to terrorism and hate. And rightfully so. Google has promised better tools and ways to stop this from happening. They need to move quickly. This is going to hurt their bottome line.

So let me get this straight... The Galaxy S8 will have Google Assistant AND Bixby. I hope a carrirer doesn't partner with Amazon to install Alexa or Microsoft for Cortana... ASSISTANT ALL THE THINGS!

Samsung's duplication of existing Google apps to build their own ecosystem inside an existing ecosystem has failed before. I can't see how this will be any different.
