Clarity || Hong Kong

I arrived in Hong Kong earlier this week just before the Typhoon hit and since then, I’ve seen the weather transform from epic clouds with super strong winds, to heavy thunder storms, sideways rain, fog, dreary flat overcast, and today as i look out my window, it’s crystal clear and calm outside. The conditions in this city can literally change from hour to hour this time of year, and honestly, that makes things really fun for photography!

I have to admit though, this shot isn’t a result of my current time in Hong Kong. It’s actually something I shot back in 2013 and later used as one of the main lessons for my Fstoppers Photographing The World Tutorials on how I shoot and blend different moments in time together to create a unique and dramatic look in my photography.

Ios Sleeps || Cyclades, Greece

This past spring, Naomi and I spent 5 weeks exploring many different islands in the Greek Cyclades and Ios was definitely a wonderful destination for photography.

While we were visiting, we were fortunate to have excellent (and colorful) sunsets nearly every day - a rare treat in this area approaching the summer months.

During the entire duration of the trip, I was also working to promote local tourism by capturing some never-before-seen aerial angles of some of the less visited (yet still stunningly beautiful) islands. Let’s just say that you’ll be seeing quite a few new videos very soon. ;)

And no, though many new aerial angles will be coming soon, this shot wasn’t captured by my DJI Inspire Pro. Ios was also one of the locations I used to test the X-T2 prototype and prepare my detailed review.

Sunrises like this are extremely rare, and in 2014, I invested 5 early mornings in a row to capture the illusive Hong Kong sun rising over the horizon. During the summer, it’s possible to have the most clarity in the atmosphere but it’s also extremely humid and the thunderstorms are unpredictable, so there’s never a guarantee of a quality sunrise. Overall, it’s a wonderful location and a classic example of how patience, determination, repetition, and a whole lot of coffee can make all the difference when you want to capture the right conditions for the shot. Just don’t give up and sleep in! ;)

After multiple visits to this truly wonderful country, I’m so proud that our first official Dream Photo Tour to Bhutan is being run this October!

If you’re interested in joining us on this unique Himalayan adventure, there are only three spots left and registration closes very soon on August 1st, just 6 days from today.

I know I’ve mentioned before how much I’ve fallen in love with the Kingdom of Bhutan, and I’d like to share a quote with you that I read recently from His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck during his coronation address to the nation that really struck me:

“Throughout my reign I will never rule you as a King. I will protect you as a parent, care for you as a brother and serve you as a son. I shall give you everything and keep nothing; I shall live such a life as a good human being that you may find it worthy to serve as an example foryour childr... more »

I shall always serve you, day and night, in the spirit and kindness, justice and equality.”

These are not words I can imagine hearing from a politician in the West. These are sincere words spoken from the kind and loving heart of a benevolent leader.

Awesome News - The team at +Fstoppers and I decided to give away lesson 1 of my Photographing the World Landscape Photography Video Series absolutely free! Check it out as we battle the crazy winter weather in Iceland and learn how I shoot and post-process my images from start to finish.

with over 12 hours of instructional content, this is the first of 15 lessons that become progressively more difficult as they move through Iceland and New Zealand. We went all-in with the production quality and it took us nearly an entire year to produce! :)

Melody of the Cyclades || Santorini

I feel like there are infinite possibilities for photography in the Greek Cyclades, and Oia—on the island of Santorini—obviously has become famous for the phenomenal views. But this spring, I had the fortunate experience of also visiting many other islands in the chain that are incredibly beautiful as well. This part of the world is truly special and what I’ve come to realize is that even though I’ve traveled around quite a bit now, I’ve barely scratched the surface, and I can’t wait to get back there to explore some more.

In truth, this was a bonus shot because the sky was so overcast, dull, and boring that we knew we’d get some good footage for our Adobe video project but we had no idea that the sky would explode with color and light. That was just an added bit of luck on our last day of shooting on Santorini.

This was such an awesome video to work on with Adobe. We all poured our hearts and souls into this project in Greece and I think the message shines clearly through.

Photography is not just about capturing moments in time, it's about being inspired in these beautiful locations and experiencing them to their fullest as well. As photographers, we have the ability to convey emotion through our imagery and for me, I find my greatest inspiration and passion while traveling the world.

Thanks to Adobe for helping me do what I love.

Bedtime Stories || Meteora

First of all, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone for all of the kind words and birthday wishes over the past few days. I’m overwhelmed with all of the love and support. It really means a lot to me. :)

With multiple projects in Greece including working with the testing and recent releases of the Fujifilm X-T2 and Adobe Lightroom Mobile (plus a few more things to come), it has been a wild few months where I’ve had to keep many secrets about what I’ve been working on. This includes images like this one that I’ve been really looking forward to sharing.

Greece is such a phenomenal country and Meteora was one of the very first locations I traveled to when I was building up my photography portfolio, so it has an extra special place in my heart. At the time, I couldn’t afford a camera and with our very minimal finances,we could ... more »

At the time, I couldn’t afford a camera and with our very minimal finances, we could only afford to be in Greece for a few days. I will always remember the kindness of my close friend John Mclaughlin for lending me his camera so that I could start capturing the images I would need to kick start my career in travel photography.

Even though many years have passed since then, Meteora is as beautiful as ever.

This was shot with the Fujifilm X-T2 and edited in Adobe Lightroom Mobile with a little clone stamp touch up in Photoshop.

It’s my birthday today, and as the ultimate gift, Adobe just announced fully integrated raw photo editing in Lightroom Mobile on iOS! :D

I’m kidding of course. In truth it’s not a birthday present for me, it’s rather a gift for the entire world because now, there are no limitations to where or when we can edit our raw files.

I’ve been working with Adobe on this new version of Lightroom Mobile iOS for the past few months, and through various countries, I’ve pushed it as far as possible to see how it holds up to my on the road lifestyle.

Check out my detailed post for a behind the scenes look at all the features, as well as a bunch of before and after comparison images I worked on during the project. And, as always, if you don’t feel like reading, there are a ton of cool photos to browse through instead!

I’m very excited to say that today, the Fujifilm X-T2 has officially been announced!

I’m proud to be one of the few photographers in the world that has had the opportunity to field test the X-T2, and over the past few months, I’ve traveled from Japan, to Italy, Greece, and Singapore, to put this camera through its paces, report my findings, and see what shots I could capture along the way.

Here’s my detailed review of the new features as I also dive into just how far we can push the new 24MP raw files in post-processing.

And just like all of my reviews, if you don’t feel like reading, you can just enjoy all the nice photos. :)

How I became Involved with Pro Aerial Photography

It’s amazing to think that in just a few short years, drone and UAV technology has evolved into such outstanding heights. And all throughout this time as these little marvels of personal aircraft have continued to get more powerful and user friendly, I’ve been able to seamlessly incorporate them not only into my professional photography and videography, but my 100% location independent lifestyle as well.

This article also includes a candid video where Lee Morris from Fstoppers and I discuss how we used a DJI Phantom in 7 different countries to get some of the most epic footage of the entire Photographing The World Video Series.

I’m excited to say that I'll be in NYC on Sunday July 10th teaching an all-day post-processing workshop at the B&H Photo Event Space, which is an awesome venue!

This is a newly revamped version of my Moments in Time series where I dive directly into how I blend multiple moments in time together into a single seamless photograph. I demonstrate some of the most recent photos I’ve created as well as the latest tools and techniques that I'm using.

I'm limiting space to keep the workshop personal and there are still a few spots left! Hope to see you there! :)

Tranquility || Santorini

Even though Naomi and I left the Greek Cyclades a few weeks ago, I feel like in some way, they still haven’t left me. For a brief moment every morning when I wake up, I instinctively feel as though I should still be there, awaking to the soft golden light of dawn, the calls of the birds and the melody of the Aegean Sea. There’s a harmony in those early hours of the day, especially on some of the more outward and touristically quiet islands we visited. I truly believe we found a form of simplistic paradise there and it seems to have stolen a piece of my heart.

Don’t get me wrong, Oia—the shining gem of the Island of Santorini and shown in it’s splendor here—is a paradise well deserving of the international attention it receives. Don’t get me wrong, Oia—the shining gem of the Island of Santorini and shown in it’s splendor here—is a paradise well deserving of the international attention it receives. Unfortunately, that same attention results in the influx of millions of people, causing the streets to become way too crowded to walk, the hotel prices to raise, the restaurants too expensive to justify purchasing simple meals, and the chances of having a personal connection with this beautiful city much less likely at all times other than the early morning hours.

Is Oia beautiful, yes. Is it worth visiting and photographing, of course - but if you want to experience the real Cyclades, jump on a ferry boat and explore some more of these amazing islands as well!

Oh, and on a less ‘Greece’ related note, I’ll be in NYC on July 10th teaching a “Moments in Time” post-processing workshop and this is one of the images we’ll be working with in the classroom. If you’re interested, all the info can be found on the events section of my website:

A huge thanks to Really Right Stuff, Tiffany Briley, and Landscape Photography Magazine for helping us tell the story of how we made the huge decision to leave our old lives behind, become 100% location independent and travel full time to chase our dreams.

Though things haven't always been easy and our lives have been full of incredible challenges along the way, looking back I wouldn't change a single moment. This is the path we've chosen and we fully embrace it with open minds and loving hearts.

Thank you to everyone for all of the love and support over the years. It means more to us that I can possibly describe. :)

The Moments Between || Allure of Singapore

I regularly visit Singapore and while I often refer to it as one of my favorite places in the world, it's not just because of the beautiful city itself. My love for Singapore truly stems from the relationships I have with so many wonderful people who live there. Really, I can't thank everyone enough for making me feel so at home over the years and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Next time I promise I’ll stay longer. 😊

This behind the scenes shot was captured during my last evening in town and it overlooks the entire downtown core. My Really Right Stuff Multi-Clamp is using its two flat edges to attach perfectly to a thick piece of plexiglass, and combined with the Fujifilm X-T10, it was the perfect shooting configuration for this location.

The Moments Between || Shooting Singapore

After flying a long 11,500 miles beginning with a 5:00AM flight out of Orlando, I finally arrived in Singapore this morning—one of my favorite cities in the world.

Though I'm only here through the weekend, it's great to be back and I just couldn't help but shoot the spectacular (and constantly growing) downtown skyline.

Here I have my very compact Fujifilm X-T10 attached to my RRS Multi Clamp—a cool little product that I helped design. Sometimes it's nice to travel light! 😊

The Moments Above || Cycladic Paradise

From Meteora to the Cyclades, after an outstanding month of shooting in Greece, it's hard to say goodbye to these phenomenal islands and landscapes.

It was almost as if the Greek weather gods were on our side the entire time as every single project went perfectly and as a result, I couldn't be happier with the imagery I was able to capture. And as an added bonus, I was also able to sample much of the local food and wine - which was definitely a plus!

Though I can't talk too much about the details of what I worked on in Greece quite yet, if all goes well I'll be sharing some of the results very soon!

Next, it's time to transform from pilot into passenger and catch a series of long flights to Singapore. ✈️+🍷 = nap time. 😉

Tempest || Dubai

Every once and a while, certain events in life can line up so perfectly, that it renders you speechless. Sometimes, it can all boil down to one specific moment in time that once seemed so improbable, that it’s a profound experience to see it materialize into a reality.

As a photographer, I spend my life seeking out some of what I believe to be the most beautiful destinations on the planet, and while positioning, patience, timing and technique are all crucial elements to my craft, sometimes it all just comes down to having a bit of luck.

I’ve been visiting Dubai for more than five years now and with each visit, I always hope for some beautiful clouds, a rare rain storm, or better yet, the elusive phenomenon of low moving ground fog at sunrise. I’ve been visiting Dubai for more than five years now and with each visit, I always hope for some beautiful clouds, a rare rain storm, or better yet, the elusive phenomenon of low moving ground fog at sunrise. Just witnessing one of these events alone can be extremely special - two together even more unique, but capturing all three combined in one scene? Well, in my opinion, this many elements coming together so harmoniously is a photographers dream.

So while I was perfectly positioned at 4:45am, setup on the 42nd floor of the Shangri-La Dubai Hotel with my Fujifilm X-Pro 2, Really Right Stuff TFA-01 tripod and PG-01 Panoramic Gimbal, I was ready to capture the sunrise. The rest - the fog, rain, and clouds - were all variables that I could only hope for but never control.

The Moments Between || Above Folegandros

Well, the first thing I can say about flying over Folegandros last night is that it was extremely challenging working in 55-65kph winds! In hindsight, I admit that it was a bit crazy to attempt - even by my standards.

Thankfully though, even though the wind gusts tried to tear it out of the sky, my DJI Inspire Pro handled it like a champ and I was able to come away with some seriously stunning photos and videos from this unique island paradise.

The plan was to fly again today but now the winds are up to 75kph! So, I’m thinking flying might not be the best idea. I guess I’ll have to relax instead. :)

The Moments Between || Flying The Greek Islands

I’m excited to say that between Meteora and Santorini, we’ve successfully wrapped up shooting our first video project in Greece, and tomorrow, we’ll begin a new project that will take us to a five different islands in the Cyclades. While I can’t talk about the first project yet, the second one is tourism and imagery based so I’m stoked to have the opportunity to put my Inspire Pro and X5 to good use on these stunning Islands.

Last night, I took a beautiful flight over Oia, the most famous village in the Greek Islands. Having visited here a few times over the years, it was amazing to see this stunning Aegean paradise from a new aerial perspective.

Thanks to +Naomi Locardi for being there with her Fujifilm X100T to capture the moment for me.

The Moments Between || Meteora + Coffee = Awesome

The video project in Greece is going great so far in Meteora and yesterday I happened to run into an Italian tour bus. And aside from having a nice conversation with a few of the travelers, their bus was fully equipped with a proper espresso machine! I’ll let you guess what my answer was when they offered me a cup. :)

We’re wrapping up production in Meteora tonight and tomorrow we’ll be heading to Santorini to continue the project. A huge thanks to my wonderful friends here in town for making us feel so welcome and at home. I’m really looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

Snapchat Stories || Smugmug Films pt 2 - Italy

Here’s part two of our adventure working with the +SmugMug Films team on an upcoming documentary about our location independent lifestyle. From Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and Rome, we had an awesome time traveling around Italy while capturing some killer footage.

While Anton and Kevin kept the cameras constantly rolling, I was creating daily behind the scenes stories on Snapchat. Let’s just say that the Smugmug team got to experience first hand just how crazy, fast paced, and random our travel schedule and lifestyle can be.

Remember, this is Snapchat so the video is captured vertically. You can also follow my daily stories by scanning my profile photo or searching my profile: EliaLocardi.

Ascension || Bhutan

Standing here at the top of Chele La Pass in Bhutan—nearly 4000 meters above sea level—it’s hard to describe the feeling of being surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas. Up here, as the wind blows through the thousands of prayer flags, it’s easy to get lost in the moment and just stare off into the infinite distance around you.

If you want to join me on a two week adventure in this extraordinary country, I’ll be leading a Photo Tour from October 4th - 17th where we’ll be exploring some of the most fascinating and stunning places that Bhutan has to offer. It’s not just about the epic scenery though, it’s also about the warm hearted people and the wealth of culture and history that make this a truly unique and life changing destination.

Snapchat Stories || Smugmug Films pt 1 - Japan

From Tokyo to Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka, we had a blast traveling around Japan while capturing some awesome footage for an upcoming Smugmug film documentary about our location independent lifestyle.

While Anton and Kevin kept the cameras constantly rolling, I was creating daily behind the scenes stories on Snapchat. Let’s just say that the +SmugMug team got to experience first hand just how crazy, fast paced, and random our travel schedule and lifestyle can be.

This is the first half of our adventure in Japan before we picked things back up in beautiful Italy. I decided to break the story into two separate episodes since there is so much behind the scenes content to share!

Remember, this is Snapchat so the video is captured vertically. You can also follow my daily stories by scanning my profile photo ors... more »

Thunder Gods || Venice

One night in Venice, we stood in place - transfixed by the beauty of an incoming turbulent thunder storm… A few moments later though, that fascination led to our clothing and camera gear being soaked to the core. ;)

Though I’ve made many trips to Venice over the years, it’s a city that always provides me with something new - whether that’s something photography related or just simply an experience. I believe that this ancient Italian city has a pulse, a heartbeat, a soul - and with its profound mix of old world charm and new, it’s easy to understand why I’m drawn here time and again.

On this particular night, I remember feeling the cool breeze as the pressure and temperature dropped with the incoming squall. I obviously knew that staying here would result in getting drenched but I just couldn’t help myself. I wanted to watch thelightning as ... more »

The Moments Between || Smugmug Films Part 1

The past few days in Japan have been a whirlwind of travel excitement as we’ve been filming in some of my favorite destinations with the Smugmug Films team! From Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka, we’ve been capturing some awesome footage and having a blast in the process.

I’ve been a huge fan of Smugmug films since they first began and I’m excited to say that we’re currently working on a video that will highlight our location independent professional photography lifestyle. We’ve been planning it together for quite some time and we couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to start than Japan during the Sakura season.

Why is this only part one? Well, tomorrow we’re all catching an early flight from Osaka to Rome, as we continue the film in Tuscany and Liguria. :)

Snapchat Stories || Stunning Osaka Castle

It's unbelievable how impressive the cherry blossom season was this year. I can honestly say that it was one of the best timed trips we've ever made here for the Sakura.

With flowers and trees in full bloom, Osaka Castle was certainly no exception. The entire castle grounds became a photography playground and we took full advantage of the spectacular weather.

In this Snapchat Story, I scout the entire castle grounds and reveal the locations of my most famous portfolio shots. I also find a new location that requires a bit of technical setup and focus stacking. If you're planning on visiting here yourself, or you just want to be entertained, check out this video.

What an awesome night we had as we captured some epic photos together!

We had such an incredible two weeks exploring some of the most beautiful places with our group on our first Photo Tour in Japan!

After four years of visiting Japan during Cherry Blossom season, I can honestly say that we had amazing luck on this tour with perfect timing in nearly every location we visited. Some people here in Japan have been calling it a 'blessed sakura season' and I definitely agree.

Together we made many beautiful stops as we travelled from Miyajima to Tokyo as we shared a lot of laughs, countless plates of delicious food, a seemingly endless amount of sake - all the while creating images and memories that will no doubt last us all a lifetime.

Our common passion for photography brought us all together, so it was a great experience to share Fujifilm’s long legacy in the photography industry and the history of their cameras, lenses, and technology with our group.

A huge thanks to everyone for helping to make these past two weeks so incredible!

Snapchat Stories || Himeji Castle

Our Cherry Blossom Photo Tour in Japan has been going extremely well and a few days ago, we led our group to the incredible Himeji Castle - the oldest castle in Japan.

Lately, I've been taking a slightly different approach to my normal Moments Between Image Series and producing daily video stories instead.

In this story, I scout the castle grounds and identify beautiful areas to shoot for the special cherry blossom lighting event. I had a lot of fun finding unique compositions!

The Moments Between || Let The Fun Begin

What do 3 weeks in Japan, 2 weeks in Italy, 1 Week in Meteora, and 4 weeks in the Greek Islands all have in common? Well, they’re all locked in on my calendar to make up one heck of a schedule for the next two months! Oh, and the projects I have scheduled throughout are also going to make good use of of all of this gear! :D

From Cherry Blossoms to sandstone mountains, ancient architecture to white sandy beaches, my Spring to Summer transition is going to be filled with some truly epic locations and scenery.

All the while, I’ll be creating daily stories on Snapchat, as well as producing live photography and flying tutorials in the field. So if you want the ultimate behind the scenes look at my lifestyle and workflow, that would be a great place to start.

Out of the many countries I’ve had the pleasure of visiting, there are precious few that draw me in as much as Japan, and even now, having visited this country multiple times over a series of years, my desire to explore has only increased exponentially with time. That’s why it’s so exciting to be back here for the next three weeks, enjoying my fourth Sakura season in a row.

This shot of Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto was captured in 2013 during my first Sakura season and looking back, the combination of being there both at the peak of the cherry blossom bloom, during the festival light up, and with zero wind was a total stroke of luck!

The Harmony of Spring 和の春 || Osaka Japan

There’s something special about the Sakura season in Japan that has drawn me there for the past 4 years in a row. It’s a feeling harmony - a perfect balance as both nature and weather align themselves for just a brief moment to reveal something truly spectacular.

While spring in Japan can be beautiful, these harmonious moments in time are often fleeting as the fragile cherry blossoms can often fall victim to the unpredictable and turbulent weather. That fragility is part of what makes capturing the cherry blossoms so special, and one of the reasons I return time and time again, always seeking that perfect moment with the perfect conditions.

And, of course, if those moments of perfect harmony never come, there’s always sake!

After two wonderful visits and nearly 6 weeks of thorough scouting, I’m excited to announce the launch our 2016 Bhutan Dream Photo Tour!

Nestled between India and Tibet, the remote and breathtaking Kingdom of Bhutan has both captured our hearts and left us with a strong desire to bring others to share in the experience. This high himalayan paradise, with its ancient monasteries, unique architecture, untouched glacial mountain regions, subtropical forests, and diverse spectrum of various climates and terrains all blend beautifully with a wealth of pristinely preserved cultural heritage.

The Land of the Thunder Dragon has quickly become one of our favorite travel destinations in the world, and if you’re interested in joining us, follow the link below to find all of the tour information. Or, if you just want to see a bunch of beautiful photos, that’s an option too! :)

I was very excited to find out that my photo of Osaka Castle was recently featured as a double page spread in National Geographic!

I captured this photo with my Fujifilm X-E2 during the 2014 Sakura Season when Naomi and I first began scouting for our Japan Dream Photo Tour. With that photo tour starting in less than two weeks, this publication holds an extra special meaning for me. It's also the perfect prelude as Naomi and I are about to spend our fourth consecutive year in Japan for the Sakura season! ☺️

I’m excited to say that tomorrow will mark a huge milestone in our lives as Naomi and I will be celebrating our 4th year of being 100% location independent!

And how are we celebrating this special occasion? With 18 hours of flying to our next destination, of course! ;)

Looking back, it seems like a lifetime ago when we made that crazy decision to sell nearly everything we owned and adopt a life filled with travel photography. In a way, it really was a lifetime ago because we were completely different people back then living very different lives; two people with a dream of what could be, teeming with optimism, but with no real idea of how it would all work out in the end.

Last year, we teamed up with Fstoppers to tell the story about how we became location independent and the struggles we had to overcome to get to where we are today.

Snapchat Moments Between || The Dubai Fog Saga

Over the last two days while the fog has been rolling through Dubai, I've been keeping my Snapchat camera rolling as I capture the action from one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city.

For the past 5 years, I've been making frequent trips to Dubai with the hopes of some day capturing the foggy conditions that only occur a few times each season. Thankfully today, all of that patience finally paid off as I was greeted with an epic view!

If you’re not already following me on Snapchat, here's a (very entertaining) behind the scenes look at what my life is like between the frames of the photography I share on social media. Follow along with me for 36 hours as I travel from Bangkok to Dubai for a chance to capture the iconic fog.

The Moments Between || Wish Over Granted

When I planned these extra few days in Dubai after our trip to Bhutan, I was definitely wishing for fog, so obviously I was super stoked to see fog in the forecast for this morning!

The thing is, I didn’t just get fog, I got WAY too much fog! So based on that outcome, the only logical conclusion is that my wishing power is super strong. Maybe next time I should wish for a million dollars instead. ;)

Seriously, check this out. It was an absolute white out. Overall, it was pretty cool to see, but not so much to photograph. Thankfully I staying a few more nights at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel, so I have a few more chances at this shot!

The fog also made great content for Snapchat.

After four incredible weeks, our visit to Bhutan is coming to an end. Tomorrow, we’ll drive to the border town of Samdrup Jongkhar and transit through India to catch a flight from Guwahati to Bangkok.

I’m sad to say goodbye and though I’m leaving a piece of my heart behind, I also feel that Bhutan has given me the gift of wonderful memories, experiences, and friendships that I’ll carry with me always. My hope is that I’ll be able to pay the kindness I’ve received here forward, and in some way, share it with the world around me.

I’m leaving feeling both invigorated and inspired and I can’t wait to announce the itinerary we’ve been putting together for our upcoming Photo Tours to Bhutan. :)

I'm excited to say that Naomi and I were recently interviewed by Tiffany Briley at Landscape Photography Magazine. A huge thanks to Really Right Stuff for making it happen! :)

This is a very entertaining and in-depth look at how we shifted our priorities, changed our lifestyle, embraced full-time travel, and ultimately became 100% location independent. Tiffany asks some great questions about how we stay motivated and passionate while we travel the world with such an aggressive schedule.

I also talk in length about my photography workflow, my philosophy on life, and how we've balanced social media, hard work, and a positive outlook on life to create sustainable business in the photography industry.

If you want a window into our lives and how we make things happen, this is a great (and very revealing) article.

The Moments Between || More Horsepower FTW

On the long hike up to Tiger’s Nest, I was able to convert our ThinkTank Airport Commuter Backpacks into a ThinkTank Commuter Horsebacks. ;)

Seriously, I don’t think we could’ve hauled up all of our gear without them, especially considering how much extra lighting and video gear we had with us!

We’re still in Bhutan, heading further and further east and away from civilization. So far, the views are extraordinary!

The Moments Between || Getting Out of Character

After nearly two incredible weeks traveling through Bhutan with +Von Wong and Anna Tenne, tonight is our last night together before they fly to Bangkok tomorrow morning. After that, +Naomi Locardi and I will continue to travel further and further east in order to scout more locations for our upcoming Bhutan Dream Photo Tour this October.

With our collaborative project in Bhutan all wrapped up, that also means that I’ll be transforming from steam punk victorian traveler back into normal Elia Locardi travel photographer. It’s a shame too, since I’ve really had a good time playing dress up every day. ;)

It really has been an incredible journey we’ve all had together and we’ve managed to capture some extraordinary images. I think I speak for us all when I say that we can’t wait to share the results!

I’m only one week into using Snapchat and I’m already seeing the tremendous potential with the platform. I know I’m a bit late to the party but that’s OK. I feel like I’ve found Snapchat at the right time and I’m excited to challenge myself to create fun content every day.

While it may not be for everyone, I spend my life on the road traveling to an average of 20-25 countries per year. For me, this is going to be a great way for people to follow along and connect with me in real time.

Again, I’m still new to Snapchat so I thought it would be fun to share a video of my first 3 days of content in Bhutan. :)
