Domain squatter

A client recently changed their mind about keeping that .com domain after letting it go and asked us to investigate getting it back. Obviously the domain has been picked up by a squatter. After an initial tentative contact we received the following mail (slightly modified to protect the client and personnel):

I have a question for you SEO gurus... I have a client, let's call him Eric Justin Toth, (not his real name but similar scenario). When you do a Google search on this guy, the results point to a namesake of his - a criminal. How will I ever get past that? Clearly the criminal is more newsworthy.

Hi all, 

I'm notifying all of you writers and bibliophiles of this project that +Mz Maau has kicked off. It is a collaborative piece of writing based on one image. The fun kicks in when you start following the different genre streams. 

So far three main streams have opened with many more sub streams. 
Main streams so far are Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Romance. If you feel you would like to start a new stream go for it or go in for starting and\or developing the other streams. 

This is one project that I would love to see right through to the end.

Candidate for nerdiest joke ever:

Einstein, Newton, and Pascal are hanging out one afternoon.

Einstein is bored, so he suggests, "Let's play hide-and-seek. I'll be it!"

The others agree, so Einstein begins counting. "One... Two... Three..."

Pascal runs off right away to find a place to hide.

But Newton merely takes out a piece of chalk and draws a mid-sized square. He finishes and steps into the square just as Einstein shouts, "Ready or not -- here I come!"

This little critter doesn't have a name though it does, I reckon, look like a flying toaster: it's a film and slide scanner that will scan 35mm negatives and slides as well as 110 film and save the lot to either an SD card or your computer at 5 megapixels.  I spotted it in a bargain bin and didn't, at the time, have a scanner that would scan film: it had been put in the bargain bin as the box was damaged and there was no CD - neither of which were necessary for it to function properly.

Google+ Allows Its Users to Determine Their Own Success

Yesterday I explained a few of the reasons why I feel Google+ will dominate Facebook.  The majority of the foundation was at the collegiate level but Google+ reaches a broad audience.  Fortunately, for most of us, this audience wants to be here.  As I continue to age and (im)mature I realize that many people do not want things badly enough to put forth effort.

From my personal experience, Google+ takes creativity, half a brain and a little bit of want to.  I know so many IRL friends that get on Google+, post a picture of their car and get no engagement.  They post a second link to the college football game they will be attending next week.  Once again, no engagement.  This leads them to believe Google+ is a ghost town and they walk away; often back to Facebook.
