What I'm writing with - a restored 1920s Salz Bros #fountainpen
It has a medium-fine nib (more on that below).
Loaded with Omas Extra sepia ink.
The pen is 13cm long, with a screw cap. It's light and well-balanced. It posts well if you pay attention (you need to rotate as you push to get a good grip).
Definitely fine line. Light touch sufficient; gets scratchy if you push. Maybe it's a flex nib, but I haven't experimented enough with it to really decide. If it is flexy, it's only slightly so.
I have noticed some odd behaviours; it gets wetter as it's used over 15-20 min. On one occasion it quite suddenly became very wet, as if it were leaking, but I find no other evidence of leaks. Related to this is the possibility that it's picked up some paper fibres in the tines. Will have to give it a good cleaning, even though I've only been using it for a... more »

Kind of disappointing because it had so much promise those first few days.
I rate it B-. Would have been A- if it weren't for the variable wetness.

My current #fountainpen: Noodler's Teal Ebonite Neponset Piston Flex Nib.
Loaded with Diamine Eau de Nil.

This is my first Noodler's. It's quite large (15cm long), of decent weight and seems well-balanced in my hand. The clip is solid and has just the right amount of flex to clip onto even relatively thick materials.

This is my first experience with a flex nib. I definitely don't like it. Perhaps I just need to get used to it, but I really don't want to. As far as I can tell, it's acting just as it should, but I find I'm always trying to write as lightly as possible to keep the line fine. I write very small and typically enjoy Extra Fine nibs, so this just doesn't go with my personal style.

It occasionally has a hard start, but as soon as I press even the tiniest bit, I get huge flow, compared to what I'm used to. If I keep my touch... more »

It occasionally has a hard start, but as soon as I press even the tiniest bit, I get huge flow, compared to what I'm used to. If I keep my touch very light, it works well. Except for the hard starts, it's smooth and has steady flow. It has a large piston reservoir and carries a good supply of ink per load.

For my style and needs, I give it a B. Not top shelf because of the flex nib. Others, who like these nibs, may well rate it higher.___
