Digital photography offers amazing flexibility to capture and modify images.

But how does the science of photography actually work? What are the basic principles of light, and how do they affect how photographers shoot? How do different cameras and lenses capture images differently? And how do software tools change the way those images are ultimately viewed?

New research released by +Google Australia and Deloitte Access Economics today show that businesses that have high digital engagement are two times more likely to be growing revenue and earn two times more revenue per employee than those with low engagement.

Bondi Photo Walk in Sydney

What happens when you organize a photo walk in a region with some of the most engaging and nicest photographers on the planet? Over 400 people show up to help break the world record! Yesterday, +Michael Sutton and I hosted an amazing photo walk from Bronte Beach to Bondi Beach just outside Sydney, Australia. An amazing group of photographers showed up from all over the region (many flying in just for the walk). While some will get caught up in the numbers game (just as many photographers do on social networks), the reality was that this event helped showcase and solidify the value and importance of highlighting vibrant photography communities around the world. Improving accessibility in Hangouts

Accessibility is something we care a lot about on the Hangouts team. The Hangout Captions app, for example, enables live transcription services for the deaf and hard of hearing (http://goo.gl/4RujF). And "Take the Floor" makes it easier for sign language speakers to do a Hangout together (http://goo.gl/chyKS). Today we're rolling out two accessibility improvements in Hangouts - a Sign Language Interpreter app, and a fuller set of keyboard shortcuts. 

1) Using the Sign Language Interpreter app, deaf or hard of hearing users who prefer sign language can invite interpreters to speak and sign for them during a Hangout. They'll always see their interpreter at the top right of the window, and they'll become the focus of the Hangout whenever their interpreter speaks for them.
