We're happy to announce there is now a dedicated AngularDart team.

This is great news for users of all three flavors of Angular 2.

TypeScript and JavaScript developers will be able to focus on a single language in which they are already experts, making it easier to contribute patches and get reviews. Read more here: http://goo.gl/kRJ0UI

Dart developers will enjoy an increased rate of improvement, including features that make the most of Dart's capabilities. Dart developers can also look forward to a set of pure-Dart Material Design components that Google uses in production. Read more here: http://goo.gl/iYv4Iv

Conserving data for billions

Data is expensive, so to retain data-sensitive users (like those on pre-paid plans) you need to optimize when and how your app or site uses data. Today we bring you a tip on benchmarking and reducing your data use for billions of users:

On Android and the Web, switching to WebP compression for non-vector images, like photos, can reduce asset size in native apps as well as on the Web. For the Web, use the Chrome DevTools Network panel (https://goo.gl/06d9kq) to determine total byte size for all resources on your page, and resources like WebPageTest (http://goo.gl/aJv2v6) to get a sense of other sites in your market.

Build architecture now that allows localizing later - tips for building for billions on Android and Web:

Building content for billions

Have big international ambitions for your business? Even if you’re just starting out, there’s a lot you can do now to set your content up to support global users and commerce when you’re ready. Today’s blog post (http://goo.gl/yItDd4) will walk you through the full list, but to get you started, here’s a tip on building content for billions of users:

Design to localize (eventually). On Android, building text-holding elements with more space than necessary for your language will save time as you expand to new languages. On the Web, plan to use a single language for content and navigation, and keep content for each language on separate URLs. Setting up your architecture to support this now will save you re-working later.

This is the first of five posts we’re sharing on how to build Android and Web products for billions of users. Check out our full set of resources and tips at developers.google.com/billions.___Build architecture now that allows localizing later - tips for building for billions on Android and Web:

Introducing the Google Sheets API v4: Transferring data from a SQL database to a Sheet

At Google I/O 2016, the Google Sheets team launched their next generation API (http://goo.gl/syZllV). This updated API has many new features that weren’t available in previous versions of the API, now giving developers access to most of the functionality found in the desktop or mobile user interfaces.

In this video, Google engineer Wesley Chun (http://google.com/+WesleyChun) demonstrates a short Python script that reads rows out of a relational database, creates a new Google Sheet, and transfers the data to that Sheet. Hope this helps kick starts your next project with the API. To dive deeper into the sample script, check out this blogpost (http://goo.gl/qr1BI6), and please give us your feedback below and tell us what topics you would like to see in future episodes!
