Trever McGhee95,707Please accept my apologies if your one of the few that got hit by a bug in their system! This is my first event and for some reason Google notified some people 20 times and for some their system was planning on doing that within their calendars for the next 5 years...every single day...20 times a day...how it did or why it would set peoples calendars up to be notified 20 times a day...I don't know. Hopefully they've got it corrected, if not please let me know. I know I wanted to help peoples wishes come true but not in that way, The goal of this event my Birthday is give you as many of my Birthday Wishes as you require...why because you deserve it. My wish is here is to connect you to the thoughts/ the energy of thousands of people around the world all making a Birthday Wish for themselves from the heart... to you. I like to Imagine the energy from all those making a wish and the energy coming from the ones that come true(the smiles..the laughter..the tears...the overflowing of pure joy) being connected to you to power your own wish to come true. Thanks to some theories about Quantum Physics there's no space between you or me or them...topped with the fact they tell us energy is never destroyed, it's gotta go somewhere as each new person joins in, so why not to you to empower your wish to come true sooner rather than later. Imagine being connected to thousands....millions of others all making wishes...all hoping that your wish comes true for it will help empower their wish. They've documented several cases of where positive thoughts have made a difference, so why not around someones birthday who can then share it with everyone whose connected to that person...so me for this event. It's never been done before, so why not now....be part of it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain as we go day by day, year by year building this community of wish granters. Now think of an image that represents your wish and then take2seconds to think of that image at least once a day until it comes true. Have fun with it, there's no right or wrong way when you come from the heart. Please let us know as each wish comes true...yes each wish...there's no law that says you're only granted one wish...you deserve everyone of them when they come from the heart..when that wish fills you with the passion for life... *****UPDATE at first I was focused on getting as many people as possible for this so that everyone had more energy but now after reading your comments..hearing your passion for life...the numbers have gone completely out the window for each one of you have brought your own unique energy to the equation that's priceless....THANK YOU In my world Birthday wishes can be made everyday of the year because it's a celebration everyday that your here to share this with. So today I Celebrate being 44 and 1 day old.Update to fix Google Bug for "It's My Birthday and my wish is for your wishes to come true!!"2012-08-17 12:00:00202

Did anyone else get to see that incredible sunset tonight?

I was cleaning the patio and looked up to see the sky ablaze with color, I ran inside and grabbed my camera and then to the lake out back just in time to capture this.

Mt Hood and Sandy River

The natural beauty of the Mt Hood wilderness belies the hostile conditions faced by the pioneers traveling to Oregon during the 1800's. The view here encompasses the most treacherous stretch of the famous Oregon Trail and was known as Barlow Road.
From the early to mid-1830s (and particularly through the epoch years, 1846–1869) the Oregon Trail and its many offshoots were used by about 400,000 settlers, ranchers, farmers, miners, and businessmen and their families.
Barlow Road was a part of the Oregon Trail. The road was authorized by the Oregon Legislature in 1845, and by September 1846, it made its way around the south side of Mount Hood. This 80-to-110-mile road provided an alternative to the dangerous and expensive route that used rafts to transport wagons down the Columbia River.

Spirit Falls, Washington

The Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge gets most of the recognition for it's beautiful waterfalls but Washington should not be overlooked. Washington has many beauties but most are not quite as easy to get to as the roadside access the ones across the river afford.

While +Kevin Childress was visiting we had the opportunity to venture over to this relatively obscure beauty. The steep talus slope makes the approach less than easy but it was well worth the effort. I've seen a few shots taken from just below and right of where this was taken from and I must say, those photographers are just a little more dedicated than I.

Good news for all you Photography Phreaks out there! The NIK collection is now FREE!

I know my buddy +Kevin Childress already has the collection but am sure he knows a few friends who might appreciate the deal.

Not so sure about +Tom Cooper, +David Brown , +Ken Fowkes +Sixten Imgs +JP Murphy .

Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now. ___Good news for all you Photography Phreaks out there! The NIK collection is now FREE!

I took this last year while in Paraty, Brazil but never got around to processing it until now. It's a stitched image made from 3 handheld exposures shot at the highest ISO I feel comfortable with on my camera, ISO 640. Unfortunately I lost a lot of image in the stitching and perspective problems that went along with using my UWA lens at it's 11mm setting.

The original chapel was demolished in 1668 and a church was built in it's place. The church was later replaced by this one in 1873. Much of the current church has remnants of both the church before it and the original chapel that started it all.

New Image: TORRES DEL PAINE, PATAGONIA

Arguably one of the most beautiful mountain ranges on the planet, this unique set of mountains is located at the end of the world, at the tip of the cone in South America. The closest you can get to Antarctica. Here's a close up view of one of those beautiful peaks.

I hope you like the pic :-)

We saw this rainbow from the roof of our hotel on our last day in Rio de Janeiro back in February. I had my 18-55mm kit lens on the camera and didn't think I had time to run down and get my Ultra Wide Angle so shot 5 vertical panels that I could stitch together. Well I forgot all about it until today when I found the set while going through some old images.
It really was the most spectacular rainbow I ever saw. We stepped out of the elevator, turned the corner, and it just slapped me across the face!

Starvation Creek Columbia River Gorge

I took this a couple of days ago in between rain showers. The fall colors were just about at peak and I remember thinking that it will be real nice in a few more days if we didn't get any heavy winds blowing all the leaves off the trees. Well it was gusting pretty good here this morning so I'm not sure what it's going to be like now.

The Little Red Shed McMenamins Edgefield Resort
Troutdale Oregon

Many tourists make it to the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon and Washington without even knowing this attraction exists. Whenever I meet tourists in the gorge I always tell them it's a place they have to go experience for themselves.

Historic Edgefield, built in 1911 as the county poor farm, is a destination resort in the Pacific Northwest that blends Oregon's natural beauty with McMenamins' signature whimsy: original buildings carefully restored with cozy interiors, gardens grown using organic methods, great food and drink, live entertainment and more.

There is onsite vineyards, winery, brewery and even a distillery. The charm and character of McMenamins properties is unmatched anywhere else but is definitely Northwest! If you're in the area stop by and stroll the property, even if... more »

I am not affiliated in any way with McMenamins nor have I been compensated for my blatant promotion of the property! ___

Did anyone else get to see that incredible sunset tonight?

I was cleaning the patio and looked up to see the sky ablaze with color, I ran inside and grabbed my camera and then to the lake out back just in time to capture this.

Although I would have loved to have some foreground interest to work with I'm still impressed with the Aurora display I saw last night.

The photo below has absolutely no added saturation or vibrancy (as hard as that may be to believe). It was processed entirely in Lightroom with basic exposure and curves adjustments with a little added clarity.

I must admit that the light show was not nearly as impressive in person as what the camera was able to capture, the blue and purple pillars of light were visible, as was the green glow on the horizon, it just wasn't quite as clear or vibrant to the naked eye.

I took this several years ago on a crisp October day. The fall colors were pretty close to peak and there were a couple of kite-boarders out braving the 40+ MPH winds. Needless to say when I originally processed the batch this one was ignored until today when I was going through the archives.

UFO over Mt Hood!

On the way back from the Columbia River Gorge today I looked over at Mt Hood and saw lenticular clouds forming all along the Cascades and knew I had to make the trip up the hill. For Sacred Sunday I present........

A lovely church in Paraty, Brazil as seen from an approaching boat.

Capela de Nossa Senhora das Dores (Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows)[
This chapel dates back to 1800. It was used mostly by the rich women of society. Construction was overseen by the presiding priest, Father Antonio Xavier da Silva Braga. The building was later renovated in 1901. The image of Nossa Senhora da Piedade was stolen from this chapel. It was finally recovered in the 1990s, and now can be seen at the Museum of Sacred Art in the Capela de Santa Rita.

Paraty is a beautiful colonial town that time has forgotten. It's surrounded by hundreds of small islands and secluded beaches.

Latourell Falls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. It's tall, easily accessible, close to my house, very photogenic and just plain beautiful! Although Latourell is a popular waterfall, and during the summer you will likely see others around, I often have the whole place to myself if I go mid-week and off season.

This 80-to-110-mile road provided an alternative to the dangerous and expensive route that used rafts to transport wagons down the Columbia River.
Seen in this photo, just below the left flank of Mt Hood, is the ridge-line known as The Devils Backbone.

Finally got around to processing some photos I took back in April. The day after I took this I had out of town country guests and in the excitement I guess I forgot about this batch.

This was taken in the Columbia River Gorge along Bridal Veil creek. If anyone knows the variety of these flowers please add it in the comments.
