If your partner doesn’t love you the way you want or need - What can you do about that? What if your partner is no longer in love with you - Can you change that? We'll discuss these difficult questions about being in love when your partner isn't loving you back._ Join me *Tuesday, September 17, 4 pm PST/7 pm EST* for a 30 minute discussion of relationships and love. This event will be Live right here (in this post) as well as on my stream, so just check back at the above time to watch as we dig deeper into wanting someone to love us. *_Got a personal experience you can share?_* Get a Live Seat in the discussion and talk with a relationship expert (me) about it. Just leave a comment below stating that you'd like to participate (not just watch) and why. I'm looking for people with a related experience to share - past or present (_and a few good men to join in too_). I lucked out with an astounding view out my hotel window in Shanghai. This is from the Peninsula Hotel which overlooks the Bund promenade, and the Huangpu River. While the skyline across the river is magnificent, the truly spectacular show is the never ending parade of very large ships zooming up and down the river.

"Kosinski and his team tirelessly refined their models. In 2012, Kosinski proved that on the basis of an average of 68 Facebook "likes" by a user, it was possible to predict their skin color (with 95 percent accuracy), their sexual orientation (88 percent accuracy), and their affiliation to the Democratic or Republican party (85 percent). But it didn't stop there. Intelligence, religious affiliation, as well as alcohol, cigarette and drug use, could all be determined. From the data it was even possible to deduce whether someone's parents were divorced.

From the data it was even possible to deduce whether someone's parents were divorced.

The strength of their modeling was illustrated by how well it could predict a subject's answers. Kosinski continued to work on the models incessantly: before long, he was able to evaluate a person better than the average work colleague, merely on the basis of ten Facebook "likes." Seventy "likes" were enough to outdo what a person's friends knew, 150 what their parents knew, and 300 "likes" what their partner knew. More "likes" could even surpass what a person thought they knew about themselves. On the day that Kosinski published these findings, he received two phone calls. The threat of a lawsuit and a job offer. Both from Facebook."___

My photos of the Other Tibet. This area is culturally Tibetan in west Sichuan, China. But instead of a high dry plateau, it's a rugged, lower terrain of fertile valleys. These pictures are from the valleys around the town of Danba. The folk here like to say, "We are Tibetan but not like the Tibetans of Tibet." They speak Tibetan, but eat Chinese. Their homes are Tibetan but their crops are Chinese. They are in between, and their own tribe, so to speak. I was the only tourist.

An avid reader and user of my Cool Tools book sent in his snapshot of how his dad marked up the good stuff. Yeah, it's all good stuff! I am proud to claim Cool Tools is the best all-around gift for anyone who wants to make stuff or make stuff happen. It's particularly aimed at the young and young at heart. This large sized book is much easier way to make use of the Cool Tools site's vast archive. We've done the hard work of culling and only featuring the best of the best tools. At this point there are less than a thousand copies remaining and they have been selling fast. No more will be printed. I doubt any will be left after the holidays.

I did not know much about Indonesia, the world's 4th most populous country. Two weeks ago I made a trip on lovely classical island of Java, which is a chain of volcanoes, seven of them active. Here's my photos. As always this is a biased and romantic view of the old culture. Much of Java does not look anything like this.

My favorite place in Golden Gate Park -- this little door at base of tree. It's where the leprechauns live.

I'm just back from another few weeks in rural China. I visited Guilin and south-west China, particular the Tea-Horse Road connecting the tea growing areas of Yunnan with the horse breeding grounds of Tibet. I also visited the last undammed river in China, the Nujiang along the Myanmar (Burma) border. Here are some of my favorite photos that focus on the disappearing culture of that area.

There is no such things as general purpose intelligence. Human intelligence is not general purpose; it is specialized. AI researcher Yann LaCun explains a bit in this AMA on Quora.

"It seems humbling to us, humans, that our brains are not general learning machines, but it’s true. Our brains are incredibly specialized, despite their apparent adaptability."
