Perhaps @113333047738251078279 might like to show us around or @106677033160092990257 do some light painting with us? First thing you may notice is "Selfy" has become "Selfie", just a change to keep up with the more recognized spelling of selfie. A general theme for this week is *New Beginnings* , it's Spring and Selfie Sunday has returned so it seems to fit. If you can't stick to the theme no worries either, since we are freshly back and running any selfie you take is fine. Please read this post for the guidelines and FAQ for Selfie Sunday. http://goo.gl/SKnkZ8 Your photo can be taken from Mar. 30/15 before the event up until 8:00 AM EDT Monday Apr. 6/15. Older photos posted will be removed from the event. Please only post one photo to the event and that photo should ideally be taken the weekend or the week prior to the event. Again, please no dipping into the archives. As always have some fun. Everyone is looking forward to some great selfies. Any questions, We have many moderators in the Art of Self Portraiture Community who can help you along the way. _ UPLOADING The event will be open for uploading photos at 9:00 PM on the Saturday before. It's now been announced that we'll be at it again in March 2015. *Tickets on sale NOW!* Become a VIP and you can score a sweet deal! www.thecolorrun.com.au/#vip _No actual running required!_ Bring the kids. Bring the whole family! Don't bring the dog though. Please feel free to share the event. Note: this is not an ideal venue for photography. As much as you dearly want to capture the colour and fun, the dust is the natural to your expensive gear. You also don't really want to be carrying heavy gear for the walk. Bring a cheap point and shoot, bring your phone, whack everything in zip-lock bags and just have fun!||Colour Run - Melbourne||2015-03-01 08:00:00||4|

It's White Night and we're all going to need a drink before embarking on chaos and mayhem. Sooooo ... *let's get together, shake hands, have a drink and talk about the year ahead.* _Venue confirmed:_ Dumpling World 608 Collins Street Melbourne -Call for venue ideas:- -Venue to be confirmed but if you have any ideas then post away. Y&Js and Fed Square venues are convenient but being White Night these will probably be bursting at the seams and potentially hard for a group. Do you know of somewhere else in the CBD that may be a good spot to descend on? Suggestions welcomed.- _White Night:_ There is no formal photowalk planned for WN as the environment is not conducive for large groups; however, if you wish to use this event as a meet up or tag along with others please feel free to do so. _All welcome!_ Feel free to invite anyone who you think may enjoy the fun.||MPW 2015 hidey-ho there neighbour||2015-02-21 19:30:00||16|

No formal photowalk as it's too hard to keep a group together. it's really worth your time coming in to the city. My plan is to do Princes Bridge for sunset then lay low until midnight when I'll start to cruise. This plan may change as WN is covering a bigger area this year.||White Night Melbourne||2015-02-21 19:00:00||39|

We'll be starting at 4ish in the afternoon and going on late into the evening with fire spinning and other light play once the darkness arrives. Please bring yourselves, your cameras, a favourite dish that you'd like to share with others, your favourite drinks and any spinning toys you may have. And orbs. Don't forget your orbs. We'll be gathering where Warragul Road and Beach Road meet, down on the beach around the shelter near the pier and groyne. With many thanks to @111907656136306657088 for the banner for this event - I'm sure you'll recognise the fire spinner from our #BrunswalkWithFire from 2013. The Rantz and the Mario will be doing special fire play - just because we can. More details as they happen to be known. |Paul Pavlinovich||24,472||Now that summer is nearly here I think it's time to return to St Kilda for a summer meander. Have some munchies before the walk. We'll have the usual wander and click but if anyone wants to wander with me I'm happy to explain what I'm doing and why. If the light and sea are favourable I'll be using black glass for long exposures near the pier. I may use it again at Luna Park to make people "go away" for the facade shot. Depends how much light there is. features will include - beach front walk - sunset by the pier - a visit to the penguins at the end of the pier - Luna Park after dark - The espy facade and the two esplanades https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z58dq65KDHgk.ka252xbBiZq4 Event updated with the meeting place (St Kilda Marina) and a link to the walk map.||summer evening photo walk||2014-12-05 19:00:00||23|

|paradigmblue||8,134||Welcome to #ParadigmShift #6 For #ParadigmShift #6 I'm sharing with you guys another one of my favourite images. Back in early June, I was fortunate enough to be in Sydney on a week long work conference. This just happened to tie in with the Vivid Sydney 2013 Festival. For two weeks, the world renown Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge were lit up with all kinds of lights - it was a spectacular sight and event to attend. I was really happy that I was able to escape at night on a few occasions after work and capture this event. For my pics, visit my website here: http://www.paradigmblue.org/website/portfolio/vivid-sydney/ After doing this for awhile, I decided to cross over the Harbour and venture out to the less crowded side at Milsons Point in North Sydney and look back towards the city. It was so nice and peaceful on this side and the view was spectacular. So I wanted to capture this feeling by taking an image directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and capture some of the skyline. And it's this image that will feature in #ParadigmShift #6 This #ParadigmShift will be different from others as it's a long exposure night shot - light is a scarce commodity with his image and it's what you'll do with it that'll make it pop! I'll post the before and after shot below and you'll see that I opted for a crop guided by the rule of thirds. As for you, do whatever floats your boat! Other details are: Filter: ND4 Shutter: 151 secs ISO: 100 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-105mm) - focal length @ 28mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below). As always, I look forward to your edits. Please play by the rules :) The Rules Step 1 Share this event to your public stream. Failure to do so will result in your image being removed. Step 2 If I'm not in your circles, add me - @116923280194426907545 Step 3 Sign into #ParadigmShift #6 with a short comment Step 4 Download the straight out of the camera RAW file from the link below and edit to your liking. The only restriction is to avoid Photoshop and create a composite image Step 5 Add your edit to the event by entering a comment and clicking on the camera icon to the right of the comment dialogue box. You are free to enter multiple edits into the event. Step 6 Show your appreciation to others by +1'ing and commenting on their work. It's all about having a bit of fun. Please note: 1. I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) 2. Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your posts. 3. And in the words of @116009459840268115761 "it's worth reiterating that this is not to establish the right or wrong way of treating and image, but more an exercise in exploring how different individuals would interpret the treatment of an image." - Couldn't have said it better - so I won't :) The event is good to go as you're reading this so don't wait and get to it! |paradigmblue||8,134||EDIT: This event is now closed. A huge thanks to all who particiapted. Be sure to add everyone below to your circles - they're all awesome :) Hi peeps, Welcome to #ParadigmShift #3 :) First of all, a massive THANK YOU to all who participated in #ParadigmShift #2 - it was so much fun seeing all the different post processing pics you came up with. For #ParadigmShift #3, I'm choosing an image close to my heart. A few weeks ago, my brother +Dave Tomek and I went on a photowalk around #PortMelbourne #Australia - such a beautiful place to photograph. One of the best known locations is #PrincesPier - it's an absolute photogs delight. That is, if you manage to dodge all the fishermen and other photogs in the area :) For the history of the place, check out the Wikipedia article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princes_Pier The posts in the water are what used to be the extension of the original pier - it would've been huge as behind me still stands a rather large pier. The RAW file was taken during the blue hour: Filter: ND400 Shutter: 50 secs ISO: 50 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-104mm) - focal length @ 24mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below). As always, I look forward to your edits. Please play by the rules :) The Rules - Share this event on your public stream. My goal here is for all your circles to know about this and participate if they're interested. - If the above is not done and a pic is submitted into the event, I have grounds to delete it. That sounds harsh I know - but I want this thing to grow and get out there :) It's a small thing to do for access to a RAW file to edit and submit. - Go nuts and edit, crop, process whatever floats your boat - bring out the best of the image according to how you see it. But try to steer clear of using Photoshop to merge the image with others. - Please note, I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) - Post you edit into the event using the "Add Photos" option in the upper right. - In addition to posting your edit into the event, post it on your public feed and tag me +paradigmblue so that I can find it. Be sure to tag it with #ParadigmShift - Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your public posts. - And in the words of +Debashis Talukdar " it's worth reiterating that this is not to establish the right or wrong way of treating and image, but more an exercise in exploring how different individuals would interpret the treatment of an image." - Couldn't have said it better - so I won't :) - The event is good to go as you're reading this so don't wait and get to it! Ends on Sunday 05/05 and the RAW file will be deleted. - And most importantly have fun! |Charles Strebor (Rantz)||25,660||*First and Last Warning*: _There will be fire - your safety is your own responsibility_. I'd be chuffed if you would join me for a photo walkabout on Saturday, 27 April 2013 in Brunswick, Victoria. We will walk through a number of bluestone laneways, enjoying the street art and also stopping at a various locations for fire spinning and juggling by @111830327627461921997, @115027053902979628958 & @111514735588177976561. There are many pubs in the area and a decision (or decisions) regarding where to head to when the fire play has finished will be made during the walk. For those unable to arrive at the starting time, @111830327627461921997 will be broadcasting his location using Glympse (http://glympse.com/) so you can find the the group during the walk. Tripods are recommended for the fire play shooting as long exposure shots of 3 to 10 seconds are best for shooting this activity. |Lady Fran W||8,889||*Your lovely hosts for this event will be:* @112471334785730222439 and @111907656136306657088 The effervescent @112471334785730222439 and I agreed that it is an important part of ANZAC Day to set aside some time to honour and respect all those lives touched by war and conflict. The Dawn Service at the Shrine is a beautiful and moving tribute to those who gave so much. Getting out of bed at a horrible hour, on what is normally a chilly April morning, is the very least of what we can do to pay our respects. Following the somber tribute in the morning, we agreed that the call of coffee will be strong, and the need for food second most to that, and then ... the photographer in us all will be screaming to get out. Soooooo, we thought that we would plan a bit of a photowalk. The idea is as follows: *Dawn - Service and sorrow* _6:00pm service_ This part of the morning will be purely about respect. This is not a photo opportunity, but a moment of reflection. Until the _Last Post_ and formal ceremony is complete, please avoid pulling your camera out. If you really can't hold back, then please arrange to get in early and capture the moment in private prior to the ceremony. The Shrine, the eternal flame, and the surrounding areas will be open and manned from very early. *Meet up* _6:30am +/-_ ie after completion of the service 'Blue fountain' Corner of St Kilda Road and Southbank Blvd Map ref: http://goo.gl/ClkBX *Coffee and feasting* _7:30am_ Following the dawn service, the intention is to hop a tram to Port Melbourne for a caffeine hit, and a hearty breakfast. A table has been booked at _Cafe Zest_ for 7:30am http://cafezest.webs.com/apps/location/ *Cameras at the ready* Once we are full charged, and our spirits a little higher, the intention is to spend the morning around Station and Princes Piers practicing some of our recent learning from the two ND/GND and long exposures events. Pack a tripod, filters, or any gear you want. A hat if the sun is looking like showing (someone, who shall remain nameless, did not do this last Saturday and may or may not have worn a microfibre cloth on ones head ... rumour has it ...), sunscreen etc. You know the routine. _*EXECUTIVE SUMMARY*_ _Option A_ - Dawn Service > Meet > Breakfast (Port Melbourne) > Piers _Option B_ - Dawn Service > Meet > Breakfast (City) > Parade Please do not hesitate to invite others you feel may be interested.||ANZAC Day Photowalk||2013-04-25 05:30:00||22|

|Paul Pavlinovich||24,472||Join us for another anniversary walk with all the usual and plenty of new faces from the Melbourne Photowalkers community. Walk starts and finishes at Collingwood Station. Food is available at The People's Market (expect to be there around 3pm) and after the official walk end at back near the town hall many of us will continue to the The Retreat Hotel for dinner and beer. Here is the route https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212211852192101909727.0004d81878e69719df99d&msa=0&ll=-37.803952,144.990327&spn=0.016598,0.033023 It's not as long as it looks. Note I've changed the times to ensure we can get into The People's Market which is absolutely brilliant. We'll be going past loads of laneways with amazing street art which are not marked on the route (a few are). If you want to make your walk longer feel free to diverge down the laneways. Suggestions: . There is an urbex site - use commonsense and make your own choices . Down the laneways travel in at least pairs - this is a fairly dodgy place sometimes - this means you Margaret Wong!||Google Anniversary Photowalk *COLLINGWALK*||2013-03-23 03:00:00||55|

|Day in the life of G+||5,658||*Our 1/4 annual G+ LeapYear Day Photography Project* Some of you may recall, last year we held the first ever A Day in the Life Photography Project, _G+ LeapYear 2012 A day in the life of G+_ Our 1/4 annual G+ LeapYear Day Photography Project *Introduction* What is this Leap Year Project? A project to capture a small snippet of the lives and the world from the perspective of everyone here on G+. Everyone will take a picture of their small piece of the world on the 29th Feb 2012 and share it with the whole G+ community. This will create one never before seen photographic record of what the world looked like on one specific day in time. A record that forms a kind of time capsule that we can use to look back on one frozen moment in time. *How do I get Involved?* Simple: During the week of Feb.23 - Mar.1 2013 Take a Picture (or several) Upload that picture(s) to Google+ Share your picture(s) publicly Include the tag: #G+LeapYearDayProject2013 + Mention this page *What should the picture be of?* Absolutely anything, as long as it meets the terms of service of Google+ But if you want some inspiration please use any of the Daily Photography Themes The picture doesn't have to be some glorious ground-breaking event. The idea is to simply capture something going on around you at any point on that day. *Do I need to be a professional photographer?* No, this is for anyone to partake in More Information A G+ Community Photography Project Feb. 23 - Mar. 1 2013, *everyone* post a photo showing something that expresses you, how you see your world or G+. Choose a specific time or just snap off a quick shot. Geo-Tag it so we can see where everyone is from (This is entirely optional). Have fun, no rules except, good taste, legal, and work safe please!||*Our 1/4 annual G+ LeapYear Day Photography Project*||2013-02-23 06:00:00||22|
|Paul Pavlinovich||24,472||This is a @108788369888910953749 event. We'll be meeting up at the angel, dog, horse or WTF the thing is in Birrarung Marr Park. For those unfamiliar with the area I''' meet people at the corner of Batman Ave and Flinders St at 6.15pm to walk down. We'll be shooting the sunset (hope for a good one!) then wandering along the North bank of the mighty brown slug until we reach the pedestrian bridge at Flinders St Station where we'll cross to the South Bank for more wandering. I'm certain there will be beer and ice-cream involved.||Post WWPW Walk...||2012-10-13 09:30:00||17|
|Photo Processing Challenge||374||*Photo Processing Challenge 4/2012 is starting now* Some people have already asked about the next challenge and here we go! Previous photo was a little bit "full of nothing", but this time you really need to use your skills to make this look great! This is a photo of a museum steam engine shot during our National Railways museum train day 2012. The train is so beautiful but the landscape not so you have a possibility to make it look totally different if you feel so - or leave it as is and just process the whole photo look more natural. It's all up to you to decide! We've had some feedback and people were hoping to be able to download the JPG version of the photo. This time it's possible so check carefully whether you want to download the DNG version or the JPG version. As always, we're hoping that you also take some time to comment and "plus" other's photos - and *_do not forget to explain how you built your version of the photo!_* Have fun! Great to explore and gorgeous gardens that are just perfect for a stroll on a sunny day (especially if you have over indulged on food and wine at Joseph's restaurant for lunch).

Wetlands there's a reason they're called wet! When you're 50 metres off the destination though, ain't no one turning around. Forging on and fording ponds.

A little more revisiting past travel adventures. +Maddy Burns helping out with the rebuilding of the temples of Angkor. This trip was quite the culture shock for a little girl. She mastered the heat and humidity pretty darn well though once there were elephants, swimming pools, markets and the odd KFC escape.

In that time you taught four young men how to treat a woman with kindness and respect. You taught a young woman how to roll up her sleeves, be strong in her convictions, and be confident exploring the world. Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Friendship, freedom and fun
▪▪▪▪▪ 🌱 ▪▪▪▪▪
The laughter and splashing could be heard in the jungle, well before coming across this pool among the temples of Angkor Wat. These boys were a wonderful reminder that life isn't about expensive toys and fancy clothes. All you need is a sunny day, your mates and a space simply to be. In the humidity of the Cambodian day, if it weren't for the call of another jungle adventure, I'd have been right there with them leaping from the ancient ruins into the cool water.
