The cost of living is an issue that should be at the core of every campaign and manifesto, and it is at the core of mine. Everyday, too many Kenyans are living on the edge because of the high price of food, fuel, school fees, medicine, housing, water and electricity that we all need. I will work to ensure that the cost of living in Kenya remains low and stable, by implementing:

Universal healthcare - No Kenyan should ever have to choose between medicine and food.

Free primary and secondary education - I am where I am today because of education, every child should have that opportunity and it should not bankrupt any parent.

Investment in our farmers - Kenya can and should feed itself. Investing in irrigation to water our farms, bringing the cost of fertiliser down, bringing the cost of seed down, facilitating funding for mechanisation and modernisation, will enable us to do... more »

Unemployment and cost of living are central issues in citizen's lives and this election. That is why my campaign has focused on creating jobs within a moral economy, an economy whose benefits are felt in the entire society, that frees Kenyans from hunger, an economy where we can all pursue our hopes, our dreams and aspirations. That is why I pledge to:

1-    Fight corruption. It is a cause of unemployment, it prevents the government from delivering services and it hobbles private enterprises.

2-    Insecurity endangers people and the economy.

3-    A Martha Karua government will always buy Kenyan.

4-    Expand and maintain infrastructure.

5-    Encouraging and incentivising the development of value added secondary and tertiary industries in agriculture.

6-    A training and capital provision program for our youth.
7-    Coo... more »

Corruption is a disease eating away not just at Kenyan politics but at our economy and society, the theft of public resources keeps food from the needy, medicines from dispensaries and salaries from our most valued public services.

A recent World Bank report has estimated that if private industry did not have to pay bribes and provide kickbacks, over 250,000 jobs a year could be created. Cutting corruption out of government you make it easier for everyone to succeed. No longer will shop owners, jua-kali artisans, farmers, artisans or even banks and supermarket chains have to pay anybody a bribe for any government issued permit or certificate, it will not be a factor in decisions on whether to start a new business or invest in this country.

To end corruption I shall

institutional laws and structures thati... more »

Ladies and gentlemen, members of the party and members of the press thank you for coming today.

Over the course of my presidential campaign I have been asked many times, who is your running
mate? And I have always replied that I am taking my time so that I can consult with members of the
party and close advisers to make sure that I pick the person best suited to the Job.

The v...ice presidency is not an honorary position, it is a vitally important job that must be filled by
someone who will not only support and work with the president but is also ready to be president at
a moment’s notice. That is why I have I have picked someone who is passionate about leadership
that is focused on the people of Kenya - ALL people of Kenya and whose commitment to the ideals of
trust, dedication and unwavering faith in a greater Kenya is unmatched.

We must all exercise our right to vote responsibly. Every Kenyan who meets the constitutional threshold can vie for any position and top political seats are not a preserve for the few political elite. Ask yourself whether you can employ a suspect in your business or farm knowing very well that they have to attend court after their cases have been confirmed! If your answer is no then how can we as a country contemplate to elect a President or deputy who is required to attend the court abroad for crimes against humanity? Is Kenya short of good leaders who are not suspects? I have faith that Kenyans shall see through the veiled coercion being deployed against leaders from certain communities. I am firmly in this race and together, we shall make it!

Last evening at the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) #ManagingInHeelsDinner I reiterated, "Space is never given given, it is claimed" (you can quote me). If you desire a different country, a better, a more caring society, better access to your (mine too) basic human needs; food, shelter, clothing, good health, warmth, love and your natural aspirations, CLAIM YOUR SPACE! Claim the Kenya YOU, not your favorite tribal leader, not your regional spokes person, want! KENYA is YOU and I.

Today I would like to join fellow Kenyans in appreciating our defense forces for their dedication and diligence in the way they have executed their mission in Somalia. I would like to call upon the President and Prime Minister to extend the same level of security to Kenyans here at home. The life of every Kenyan is valuable.

This is my position on the unfortunate MPs send off package.

“The constitution does not allow MPs to give themselves an increment in their salary, allowances or other incentives, but the constitution states clearly that is role is a preserve of the Salary and Remuneration Commission,” said Ms Karua while speaking in Wangige Town.

She said the proposed increase of a Sh2 billion burden on the taxpayer was a manifestation of the rot in the country’s leadership.

Today am on a tour of my 46th county, Kiambu County. My series of county tours has been eye opening and has enabled me to experience first hand the immense untapped potential of this our beautiful land and nation Kenya. It has also brought me face to face with the stark reality of the enormous challenges majority of our people still face today 50 years after independence. It's been an eye opener and the warm reception from Kenyans all over has been humbling. One more county to go then I begin my campaign proper. Keep spreading the words guys, I hope to see you in a county near you soon...we are together on this journey of reclaiming back Kenya from the status quo! Asante!

RED FLAG ON THE VIOLENCE IN THE COUNTRY AS WE APPROACH THE GENERAL ELECTIONS

I condemn yesterday's attack on Fisheries Minister Honorable Kingi and others in Mtwapa Mombasa in which Harrison Maitha, Hon. Kingi’s body guard was killed as well as three of the attackers and several including former judge of Industrial Court Mr. Stewart Madzayo were injured. My condolences to the families of the deceased and sympathies to the injured.

These heinous criminal acts are coming shortly after fourteen suspected members of a criminal gang were killed by the public in Ganze following the gang's attack and murder of a civilian. This is happening after many acts of lawlessness in the country which include the recent killings in Tana River, killings and attacks on churches in Garisa, killings and attacks on churches in Nairobi and Mombasa, killings in Wajir, Mandera, Moyale and Isiolo.... more »

As I continue to focus on an issue and value based campaign, one of the things I am most grateful for are the values instilled in me by my parents. My parents taught me that I am my neighbors keeper, that it's better to develop as a communi
ty than as individuals; that together we can achieve more than individually; that a child belongs to the whole village.

I would like to state that we urgently need to re-discover the value of 'the community' as Kenyans. Most of the community development we have achieved in this country has been when we come together though harambees, cooperatives and chamas. I would like to thank the community of young Kenyans who have embraced this value and are volunteering their time and resources to my campaign. I would also like to thank the thousands of you who continue to contribute money to my campaign through Mpesa Paybill 652012 'Simama Na Mama... more »

Hip, hip, hurray! to our men and women in uniform. I salute you all our brothers and sisters together with your families for their sacrifice! Together with AMISOM and the Somali forces you have done us and our Somali neighbors proud by liberating the Port of Kismayu and the country from Al Shabaab. Your sense of duty to us your compatriots, your brave and gallant sacrifice of both life and limb to ensure our security as a nation is truly humbling and and a true honor to your motherland. Asanteni, and may God keep you safe until you come back home at the end of your mission.

We must treat all Kenyans equally when applying the law. No one should be treated as special just because they happen to be leaders. When an ordinary Kenya is accused of handling stolen property, they normally face the full force of the law...the same should happen to leaders too. If one is alleged to have committed an offense, all reports of impropriety must be investigated and if necessary taken to court for determination. It's the only way we can ensure a just and equitable society for all Kenyans.

It is clear from the current unfortunate remarks from an elected leader that reckless politics leads to calamity. Take control of your nation and your future... vet your leaders before you vote.

Respect for you as my boss whom am elected to serve, respect for your welfare, respect for your opinion, respect for your rights as guaranteed under our Constitution, respect for the rule of law that makes us all equal and most importantly, I guarantee that I will respect you enough not to take you for granted as has been the case with past leadership including my competitors. I will respect you enough to do what you'll elect me to do, to serve you as I have always done dear Kenyans, not enrich myself, my family or my friends.

As I visit Tana River County to share with fellow Kenyans, I would like to emphasize on the need for peaceful co-existence among all Kenyans. Peace is critical in attaining sustainable development not only in all of Kenya, but also in the larger East African region. We all need each other. Kenyans will only thrive if able to go about their daily chores in peace and security. A favorable business environment will be achieved only if peace prevails. I would also like to reiterate that I am going full throttle for the presidency and anyone spreading propaganda that I have joined forces with them or others in this race is simply misleading Kenyans. We have seen what this coalition government has delivered or has delivered and Kenyans will agree with me that some major house cleaning is required and necessary. It's time to rid ourselves of corruption and impunity and you and I know I can and will deliver on... more »

In the midst of the chaos, strikes and killings that have become the norm in our country of late, the judiciary has taken steps that give me hope of a better Kenya. The sentencing of high profile individuals for crimes committed against the country is a memorable event and it gives me hope. Hope that Kenya can turn around! With the right kind of leadership that can keep its promises, bloodshed and
strikes can be a thing of the past. It is this hope that keeps me going as I mourn the loss of our brothers and sisters in the Tana Delta. It is hope that assures me that should we win this election, then Kenyans can be sure of a government that will honor its word and prioritize reforms in all sectors. Like the judiciary I pray that we vote for leaders who are vetted, leaders of character and leaders who have Kenyans and Kenya at heart. Leaders who put Kenya first. Jitokeze!

THE GOVERNMENT HAS A MORAL OBLIGATION TO WORKERS, PARENTS & CHILDREN OF KENYA

As a Kenyan, Presidential aspirant and Gichugu Member of Parliament, I'm asking the government to find a sustainable and sustainable solution to the ongoing strikes in the education and health sectors. I insist that the government has a moral obligation to the Kenyan workers, parents and children.

I have noted with dismay the ineptitude displayed by the executive in handling the teachers’ strike which is now in its second week with no agreement in sight. At a time when end-of-the-year exams are expected, children remain the main casualties while investment by parents in school fees is going to waste. The government had no right to put the Kenyan parents and school going children under such stress.

The ongoing stalemate and discontent amongemp... more »

Hi guys! The people of Tana Delta, Mandera, Wajir and indeed all Kenyans are interested in workable solutions that can guarantee them peace, security and prosperity. I am devoting all my energy and thoughts to these issues. The talk about running mates, runoffs, alliances, whether real or imagined, is not part of the solutions that we seek and is not a priority for me right now; the people of Kenya and implementing the Constitution are. Let's maintain peace and shun violence wherever we are. Do have a productive week ahead. God bless you, God bless Kenya.

I am calling on the government to beef up security in areas prone to conflict to avert further loss of life and property especially in the hot spots that have seen recent flare-ups. The recent violence in Tana River and Mandera Counties as highly regrettable. I'm asking President Kibaki in his capacity as Head of State & Commander-In-Chief of our defense forces to deploy all available security apparatus to these and other hot spots in order to restore peace and guarantee residents security as the electioneering period gains momentum. My heart felt condolences to the families of Kenyans who have lost their lives or been injured in this senseless violence, those who have lost property or have been displaced. Every Kenyan life is sacred. God bless Kenya!

It's with a profound sense of loss to the nation that I note the passing on of Mheshimiwa Martin Shikuku. Hon. Shikuku, popularly known as 'the Peoples' Watchman', was a true crusader for the downtrodden. He was a man who believed in, practiced and lived democracy; a patriot who devoted his life to serving Kenyans. Mheshimiwa has left his footprints all over our nation and in our hearts. My heartfelt condolences to his family, close friends and the nation. Fare thee well compatriot, I celebrate your life!

Hi guys, dear Kenyans, I hope you're having an easy Sunday wherever you are on the globe. I've just come back from a week in Trans Nzoia, Pokot and Turkana Counties and as always, having visited 45 Counties so far, am humbled and amazed by the potential of this our land and nation plus the resilience of Kenyans all over our motherland if we can get out governance right. I feel that we leaders owe all Kenyans a debt of gratitude which can only be paid back though a caring and responsible government.

I'd like to wish our team all the best in the London Olympic Marathon. Bring back the medals boys! Remember though, asiyekubali kushindwa si mshindani.

Hi guys,

Tufanye hesabu tena...Let's count the cost and keep all of us accountable. A recent research suggested that some presidential candidates will spend as much as Ksh. 11 billion shillings each to try and capture the presidency. Now, at around Ksh. 3.2 million a month including allowances, the President of Kenya earns Ksh 38.4 million a year, much more than what President Obama, the German Chancellor and the PM of England earn, and which translates to Ksh. 192 million in a five year term. So in one five year term, the most a president can hope to earn is around Ksh. 192 million, quite a substantial sum by world standards.

My question; why would anyone spend Ksh. 11 billion to only earn Ksh. 192 million? Does this math add up to you dear Kenyans? How would that individual be hoping to recover the remaining Ksh. 10.78 billion to cover their campaign expenses including buyingo... more »
