$500,000 CLERICAL ERROR: San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt is a man of principles. 

Affeldt reveals in his new book that a mistake in his contract extension had him receiving $4.5 million instead of the originally agreed upon $4 million. Both he and the team signed the contract, and Affeldt had the legal right to keep the money, but decided to give it back.

BREAKING: The California agency investigating the deadly 2010 San Bruno gas pipeline explosion recommended today that PG&E pay a $2.25 billion fine for its negligence leading up to the blast.

The penalty would be the largest ever assessed by a state regulator, officials said.

BREAKING: Boston Bombing Suspect Charged

Prosecutors have charged suspected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev during a bedside appearance before a federal magistrate with using a weapon of mass destruction in connection with the attack last week that killed three and injured more than 180.

The 19-year-old from Cambridge, Mass. could face the death penalty or life in prison, the Department of Justice said.

UPDATE: Boston Bombing Suspect in Custody

Police captured the lone surviving Boston Marathon bombings suspect Friday night to cheers from a Massachusetts town on edge, capping a grueling week in greater Boston and a 24-hour manhunt that had all but shut down the city.

A wounded Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was taken into custody in a Watertown, Mass., backyard after police surrounded the trailered boat where he was hiding. He had apparently holed up after a wild shootout with police the night before in which his brother and fellow bombings suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, had died.

Winters, whose breakneck improvisations inspired Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and many others, has died at age 87.

Longtime family friend Joe Petro III says Winters died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes.

Her name is Audrie. She's a 15-year-old girl who committed suicide last fall after photos of her being sexually assaulted were circulated around the Saratoga High School campus. Thursday, three of her schoolmates were arrested and charged in the attack.

NOTE: We normally do not identify victims of sexual assault or suicide. However, we're using Audrie's name and pictures in this report with her parents' permission. They are hoping our report might prevent this from happening to anyone's else's daughter.

It's a girl! After than more than a month of guessing the Sumatra tiger's gender, San Francisco Zoo officials announced the news today.

The five-week-old tiger - adorable and fuzzy - was born Feb. 10 to parents Leanne and Larry, and until now, hadn't been prodded by human hands.

Under orders to trim hundreds of millions of dollars from its budget, the Federal Aviation Administration released a final list today of 149 air traffic control facilities that it will close at small airports around the country starting early next month. 

The list includes towers in Salinas, Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Diego.

A service dog is missing and his owner is asking for your help. Kerrin Lanahan says she and her servie dog Archie were riding home on BART after an SPCA fundraiser Wednesday night. 

Archie was in a carrier next to Lanahan and somewhere between San Francisco and San Bruno Lanahan said she dozed off. When she woke up Archie and the carrier were gone.

An official says the bear's mother was killed in mid-March. The cub is about three months old and weighs just over 18 pounds.
