1) Having a good co-founder dynamic plays into if you could get funded or not. Show that you've thought deeply about your idea. Do you and your co-founders get along? Are you passionate and excited, and does that show when you're together?
2) You have 10 min in your Y-Combinator interview. Make those minutes count. When you explain yourself and your idea, get your point across in such a way that you inspire someone to take a meeting with you.

New G+ Photos rolling out today!!!
Not too long ago, I met a woman through a user study who moved over from Taiwan with her 2 daughters. She’s been documenting their lives and sharing pictures out to friends and family. I asked her if she felt that her photos were safe. She responded, “Very much so! All 10,000+ of my photos are on this laptop!” - which she told me earlier was purchased 9 years ago when she first arrived in the States.
This of course alarmed me! While most consumers have their email, music library etc. stored in the cloud, what’s evergreen - your lifetime's worth of memories - are stranded on cameras, phones and computers.
We think that storing your photos safely in the cloud is a great starting point. But we also think that a photo service in the cloud can be much much more. Our goal is to help you make and share great photos in less time, all the... more »

In this amazing clip, acro paragliding pilot Gill Schneider teamed up with his father’s circus class to mix juggling, trapeze and other circus arts with paragliding. What does Google+ inspire you to do? Well for +Gso Tseng his inspiration and collaboration led to creating an awesome book with friends - "We started to write collaborated short stories using Google Docs and within one year, it turned out to be enough for a novel. So we self-published it privately and designed the cover representing our gratitude to G+." Big thanks from me and the Google+ team for sending us a copy! Now I just need to learn how to read it :)

Throwback Thursday - College Edition
circa 2006
Here are a couple shots from a photoshoot I did to commemorate my graduation from college. I had 3-4 costume changes (which is pretty low for me), and made sure to have History themed props to remind my family what I had been up to for 4.5 years. Although the fedora isn't "historical," it was my favorite accessory at the time and was in almost every photo (it made me feel like a secret agent). In my immediate family I was the first one to graduate from college, and I decorated my grad gown with inspirational messages to remind me that I needed to keep trailblazing. I ended up picking the one on the left to send with my graduation announcements because I feel it communicates the image of the empowered woman stepping out on her own for the first time. A few weeks ago at SXSW in Austin, TX, I gave developers a sneak peek at the Google Mirror API, which is what they'll use to build services for Glass. With the presentation, we set out to help developers and entrepreneurs start imagining what they could do on Glass.
The Mirror API is a cloud platform that uses OAuth 2.0 and REST as an architecture for delivering a new class of experiences to people using Glass. We walked through the basic building blocks of the API: timeline cards, menu options, share contacts, and subscriptions. We then demonstrated some early uses of the Mirror API on Glass that were built by Evernote, The New York Times, Path, and our own Gmail team.

Hanging Out with Girls In Tech China
yay!
Today I had the esteemed pleasure of hosting the Girls in Tech crew from China. We broke bread with many of the women from the Android UX team, and shared ideas about design, policy and big data, and chatted about how women could and SHOULD feel empowered in the technology industry. How'd we all come together? I met Jing Zhou (Deputy Director for Girls In Tech China - pictured in the rose dress) while at SXSW this year. She had stumbled into +Timothy Jordan's sound check, and we got to talking about all the great work she's doing for women in China - especially around app development. Make sure to keep an eye out for her app Elepon - it's going to be an insanely fun app for women and their best friends ;)

HI guys, I come from Taiwan. Me and my friend of authors were total strangers that met on Google+ and later formed a tight circle that simply like writing stories.
We started to write collaborated short stories using Google Docs and within one year, it turned out to be enough for a novel. So we self-published it privately and designed the cover representing our gratitude to G+. We love this platform and hope it never gets axed like Google Reader.

I've been a huge proponent of +Sheryl Sandberg's TED talk for the past couple of years. I've evangelized it to every girlfriend of mine. Suffice to say, when Lean In (Sheryl's new book) launched recently I was pretty excited. However, during her recent interview with Time Magazine I was a little miffed by a statement where she says "Compared to our male colleagues, fewer of us aspire to senior positions." I disagree - a lot. I thought, maybe I'll do an op-ed piece, afterall, only 15% of all op-ed pieces are written by women (clearly we need to voice ourselves more). Adventure Sunday - Flying Trapeze!
yes I know it's Monday, psh
Yesterday I took my 3rd flying trapeze class in recent memory (I took lessons when I was younger). I've greatly enjoyed my time on a static trapeze, but there's something so incredibly freeing when you can just jump off of a platform and know you're completely safe. Committing to Adventure Sunday is a part of my new years resolution to get out from behind my computer and challenge myself to new physical challenges (cc: +Matt Cutts - master of new things and bravery - see his TED Talk http://goo.gl/TgGY2). +Timothy Jordan has been an excellent conspirator in these ways, and it's one of the things we look forward to most each week. Dangling Feet

I've been in love with old stuff for a long time now. I collect partial sets of science encyclopedias (I really don't think I'd want a whole one), 1970's and 1980's science fiction books, metal tassels, trim off of old dresses, 1940's and 1950's party dresses, and lots more. One of my favorite things about perusing through aisles of old treasures, isn't just finding that one thing I've been looking for but never knew I wanted. A lot of the time it's meeting the people who collect and sell their wares. I arrived late today to the Alameda Antique Market (a regular haunt of mine) and found most of the vendors packing up. Today I have the honor to sit down with the famed +Natalie Villalobos (Google+ CM) and the awesome +Matt Bariletti (Google Voice CM) to discuss community management. There's always a lot of mystery surrounding what it is exactly a community manager does and, while some interpretations vary, I can't think of two other people better to describe their experiences.

Who can see your circles?

People in your circles (but not the name of the circle) will appear to others on your Google Profile, unless you choose not to display that information. You can manage the visibility of circles on your profile by selecting the Edit profile option. From there, edit the visibility of your circles by clicking on the icons in the upper right-hand corner of each section. For the In your circles option you can even choose certain circles to display - you don’t need to show them all.
