How to get Google Maps embed code and share links

Not sure if this is brand new or if I just haven't noticed it before today but the journey to get embed codes and shareable links for +Google Maps appears to have changed.

There used to be a gear icon towards the bottom left of the screen where you could grab links and the code but that's now gone. In it's place are 3 horizontal lines to the left of the search box in Google Maps. Click on those and a menu pane slides out and presents different options. As you can see from the screenshare attached the Share or embed codes are now there.

Social Shares is the New  SEO was being bantered about quite a bit back in 2012 when I created this Mindmap.

While social shares are important to increase ones online visibility and brand awareness, they don't rival quality links from authority sites as once purported.

That said, having your content get found, seen, read and shared on the social web by vetted authorities goes a long way to enhance your brand.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives.
 
I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.
 
Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!
 
Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
 
The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.
 
The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.
 
The Milwaukee Brewers. Well, that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.
 
So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the Government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do nothing Congress loves.
 
As a diehard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers (especially when they play Southern California. Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers???)
 
I always love your articles and I generally agree with them. As for the Redskins name, I would suggest they change the name to the Foreskins to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Congress.___

To be a positive society, it is necessary for those with the ability and knowledge to question, and demand accountability.

"Show me proof" should not be considered an attack, but a rallying cry.

Why I am on G+ so much

I had to explain to a corporate colleague, yesterday, why I spend so much time and energy on G+ engaging and interacting, putting up original content (when my website should be really benefiting from it) and sharing a lot of original information and insights (which should logically be kept for my books which bring me money.) 

It was a fair question which became the initiation point for a long discussion into which were also drawn his line manager and the company's Corporate Communications expert. 

I had to delve deep into my own motivations in order to actually make sense to people who don't use G+ and see social networks only as a marketing tool. Why I am on G+ so much

I had to explain to a corporate colleague, yesterday, why I spend so much time and energy on G+ engaging and interacting, putting up original content (when my website should be really benefiting from it) and sharing a lot of original information and insights (which should logically be kept for my books which bring me money.) 

It was a fair question which became the initiation point for a long discussion into which were also drawn his line manager and the company's Corporate Communications expert. 

I had to delve deep into my own motivations in order to actually make sense to people who don't use G+ and see social networks only as a marketing tool. As the discussion evolved I used their Whiteboard to sketch a few connections and relationships. I began to explain that there is a high level or reciprocity within G+ that is not evidenced in Twitter or even Facebook despite the fact that the latter is mostly close friends and family.

Once I started to look at it through the prism of Trust (which is the subject of an upcoming book which has me buried in research as well as writing) things began to fall into place.

What's more, the usual 'soft' platitudes of making friends with people you have never met and actually trusting them, suddenly began to make more sense.

Everything here is a contract of sorts, running on Transactional Trust and governed by the Reciprocity Response (https://goo.gl/mPAJWc). Transactional Trust, in turn, is made up of three other different types of trust, each of which has its own key points.

Not only does this help all of us interact in ways which provide mutual gains but it allows us to interact with different people, differently, calculate 'trust' differently for everyone and differently for each situation while still understanding that it is trust we use. 

Trust is the key ingredient in establishing and strengthening connections between individuals which then begin to figure into such other concepts as identity, self-worth and the establishment of one's presence. In semantic search trust is the key value ascribed in the interaction and engagement between Entities.

Can you have more than one Periscope account (and how to switch between them)?

In short, yet. Just like on Twitter, you can choose to have as many Periscope accounts as you have Twitter accounts.

Switching between your Periscope accounts is easy. 

1. Add all your Twitter accounts to your phone (read +Mike Allton's tutorial on how to add multiple Twitter accounts to your phone, if you need help http://tgcafe.it/1JuSypy).

2. Sign out of your current Twitter account (as long as you are signed into Twitter, Periscope will continue to automatically log you in under that account).

3. Log into Periscope under desired Twitter account (look for 'Tap to switch accounts' option at the top of the login page as shown in the screenshot below).
