Readers who have been with me since the start of deliciousdays.com back in 2005 may still remember a feature my very first articles used to have: recommendations of my favorite tunes.
There are rarely idle cycles of my brain, I am constantly thinking about what to cook or bake the next day, which cookbook to purchase or the lovely Cara Cara oranges my neighborhood market stall currently has on display. But there is also a not negligible part of my heart, that is perpetually on the look-out for fab music. Do you know the feeling, when you stumble upon a new song or artist and you just cannot stop listening? That obsession is exactly what keeps me going.

These spritz cookies have occupied a safe spot on our cookie plate for ages, the recipe is an old Word print-out with significant stains and handwritten updates & notes, that doesn’t reveal its origin at all. Once you’ve managed to pipe the rather tough dough onto the trays, the aroma arising from the oven already gives away these cookies’ potential. And I didn’t use “melt in your mouth” for no reason.

New York City-based artist Trong G. It feels like there is at least one article per week that wants to declare cookbooks dead. Being both - a cookbook lover with an extensive library and an avid smart phone user - I still can't picture myself turning away from the physical book. The only culinary apps I use regularly in my kitchen are Kitchen Pro, Converter and recipeShelf.

First things first, and most importantly: These gnocchi are heaven in a bowl… velvet-like cushions to your bite… a revelation to your tongue… I could go on and on and on. Having mastered potato and pumpkin gnocchi many times in my own kitchen, I didn’t expect another sort of gnocchi to take my heart by storm. But Ricotta gnocchi, where have you been all my life? This variation is even easier to prepare than the former two mentioned, taste-wise open to all kinds of flavors, and – I kid you not – they take less than 15 minutes to prepare before you can release them for a little swim in softly bubbling saltwater.

I have tried different cheeses (like Asiago or Mimolette), but prefer a mild Cheddar for this recipe. It's a little known fact that I've been known to do some macro photography, you won't find it on my website either but G+ seems like a good place to float the occasional one into the online ether... I do own a dedicated Nikon 105mm f/2.8 and it is a wonderful lens, but hardly used in my hands. It's a second best option really when there's no landscapes to shoot from my point of view. I've thought about selling it over and over, I'm pondering a 24-70 f/2.8 instead again or an 85mm f/1.4, if only I had more cash! I do think my next big purchase will be the Nikon D800 whenever it turns up....

With more and more friends joining G+ I frequently hear about the same complaints: "But I don't know many people there and the ones I know don't post at all!"
To jump start things and help them out, I typically point them to a hand-picked selection of inspiring people with a regular, high-quality content stream that I enjoy tremendously - merely as a starting point. Since it is a small mix of creatives who write about photography, design, the web, food, music and the likes, you might want to follow them, too.
For me, they make my G+ experience an even better one :)
