Kashmiri Pandits - 1890s
The Kashmiri Pandits are a Brahmin community from the Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir. They are the only remaining Hindu community native to the Kashmir Valley.

The Brahmin Pandits of Kashmir established themselves in the Northern area of India, first in the Rajput and Mughal courts and then in the service of the Dogra rulers of Kashmir. This cohesive community, highly literate and socially elite, were one of the first to discuss and implement social reforms.

Lambasingi village - Snowfall in Andhra Pradesh
If you were told that there is a place in Andhra Pradesh where sometimes it Snows, would you believe it? That’s right. Snowfall. In Andhra Pradesh!

Another name for this Lambasingi village, famous as Andhra Kashmir, is Korra Bayalu. As already established, the village experiences below 0°C temperature and chilly winds in winter, with a spell of snow sometimes.

In the east of Visakhapatnam, just 100km away is this beautiful hamlet. The hills, the dense forests, the valleys, and the plantations contribute in making Lambasingi a place with prolific natural beauty.

Investor shift from active to passive funds accelerating
Seven top asset managers this week reported a total of $50 billion in third-quarter net redemptions, most of it from active funds.
The tally is further evidence that investors, frustrated with high fees and mediocre performance of actively managed funds, are increasingly casting them off for low-cost passive investments. In the 12 months ended Sept. 30, active funds had redemptions of $295 billion while passive took in $454 billion, according to data from Morningstar Inc.

Campa cola (orange) advertisement 1970s
Campa Cola was a drink created by the Pure Drinks Group in the 1970s. It was a market leader in most regions of India for a period spanning several years until the advent of the foreign players Pepsi and Coca-Cola in 1990s. The brand's slogan was "The Great Indian Taste", an appeal to nationalism.
Today, a bottle of Campa is hard to find, although a small amount of the product is still being bottled in the state of Haryana.

Indo-Pakistani War of 1965
The Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 was a culmination of skirmishes that took place between Apr-Sep 1965. The conflict began following Pakistan's infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir to precipitate an insurgency against Indian rule.

Despite the cease-fire rendering the conflict militarily inconclusive, most neutral assessments, agree that India had the upper hand over Pakistan and the conflict is widely seen as a strategic and political defeat for Pakistan.
