HMT Watches Ad - 1970s
Iconic Indian watch brand, HMT is a state-owned manufacturer that collaborated with Japan’s Citizen Watches, to produce a range of watches that Indians were proud to sport. A HMT watch was an integral part of the unofficial uniform of Indian office-goers through the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
Its advertising slogan "Timekeepers to the Nation", was certainly apt.

New Market is a market in Kolkata situated on Lindsay Street at Free School Street. In 1903, the market was officially named Sir Stuart Hogg Market.
Bengali society, in the British era, called it Hogg Shaheber Bajaar, a name that is still in use. But the earliest provisional nickname, New Market, which remained in use throughout, proved to have the most sticking power.

Yoga and Food
When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need ~Ayurvedic Proverb

Practicing Yoga asanas is one of the most beneficial regimes, but when complemented with the healthy food habits, it can really create wonders.Eating the right food is an essential part of living a Yogic life.

Yoga, does not dissect food into proteins, carbohydrates or fats, instead it classifies them according to the effect they have on the body and mind, into three types – satva, rajas and tamas.
Tamasic food is the kind of food which makes us lethargic or sluggish, while Rajasic food is that which brings about activity or restlessness. Whereas, Sattvic food is the kind which makes you feel light, energetic and enthusiastic.

Yoga with right food is the way to have a healthy life !

Amazing Living Root Bridges, Meghalaya, India.

Meghalaya is one of the world’s wettest regions, receiving some of the highest rainfall ever recorded. One of the challenges that rears-up every year is that of the raging rivers. Crossing these rivers becomes a near impossibility due to the intense rains and wild torrents. However, the people of Meghalaya have been practicing a centuries-old tradition of coaxing tree branches and roots to form natural bridges!

Some of the bridges are over a hundred feet long and can support the weight of fifty or more people. One special root bridge, believed to be the only one of its kind in the world, is actually two bridges stacked one over the other and has come to be known as the Umshiang Double-Decker Root Bridge. Locals have been using these bridges for over 500 years

French trains are being turned into moving art museums

Instead of encouraging people to visit their world-famous landmarks, France’s national state-owned rail service SNCF has come up with a fantastic idea. They’ve decided to bring these landmarks to you, and you can enjoy them at your leisure during your morning commute to work.
The SNCF has been giving trains a series of artistic makeovers. They cover the interiors with graphic film that contains various famous art works.

Surya Namaskar
Suryanamaskar can do to your body what months of dieting cannot. And it can do to your mind what no spiritual discourse can

Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) is a set of 12 powerful yoga asanas (postures) that provide a good cardiovascular workout. These postures are a good way to keep the body and the mind in good shape.
Surya Namaskar is best done early morning on an empty stomach and when performed repeatedly at an easy pace can bring a sense of well being, almost immediately.

Not surprising, the world is going crackers over this ancient yogic tradition of worshiping the rising sun.
