George Eastman House holds a vast, historically important and aesthetically unparalleled collection of daguerreotypes by America’s acknowledged masters of the medium, Albert Sands Southworth and Josiah Johnson Hawes. The collection of over 1,200 daguerreotypes constitutes the largest repository of work by Southworth & Hawes. In 2008, Eastman House received a multi-year National Endowment for the Arts–Save America's Treasures grant that enabled the stabilization and re-housing of these unique and culturally significant objects. This grant allowed Eastman House staff to improve the physical preservation of these daguerreotypes and increase access to the collection. This Art Talk will feature *George Eastman House conservators Taina Meller and Ralph Wiegandt as well as Lisa Hostetler and Jamie M. This is an image from Yellowstone Lake. The green runoff is from the natural hot springs. Generally the lake freezes over in the winter. But the runoff keep the immediate area "warm."

So you will see animals and fish hanging out there in the winter.

This was an image that I made while on my trip to Grand Teton National Park. Now. While I thought the mountains where heroic in size.

This is a good list of posts from +Michael Hyatt -- I agree that the best way to approach any project is one step at a time. Bt what is equally important is having a written plan.

Weekly Photo: On Our Way To Yellowstone National Park

This image was taken while we were in Grand Teton National Park on our way to Yellowstone National Park.

This was one of the best days of the week long excursion. Our guide was from the Teton Science Schools -- and his knowledge of the Yellowstone Ecosystem was surprising. He was able to intimately explain, the history behind the Yellowstone Ecosystem; as well as the possible future of the ecosystem.

I truly enjoy speaking to professional photographers. I love listening to their individual stories of success and failure. One thing that I have noticed about interviewing high-performing photographers like William Egbert Jr. is that failure, not success has defined their achievements.

Egbert was in a terrible motorcycle accident in November of 2006. William was sitting on his motorcycle at a red light, when a car hit him from behind; the impact sent him flying 60 feet down the street.

The next eight years challenged William’s resolve. He battle mood swings, migraines and a desperate search to (re)find himself. After countless doctor visits, it was suggested that photography might speed along the healing process.

NYC's Man of Steel

It is very difficult to make a unique image of anything in New York City. Why, because NYC is the 2nd most photographed city in the world. In order for me to tell a unique story I needed a lens that could capture NYC, uniquely.

The image you see below was inspired by Ralph Mendoza. He shared this image on his Google+ feed and when I first saw it, I knew this would be a great opportunity for the fisheye.

It's the same principle in #photography . We all look at the world through two lenses.

1. the camera lens -- made by a vendor
2. our lens -- made by us through our past experiences

The camera lens is a physical limitation; it can only let you see "this" much of your image.

But our lens in a way is also a physical limitation but what if... what if... we broke outside of those self-imposed limitations?

How would we then see the world? What images could we make? Imagine the stories we could tell.

The Mountains of Grand Teton National Park

This is one of the many mountain ranges in Grand Teton National Park. The lake was a beautiful mix of blues and greens. It looked incredibly refreshing, especially after a hot afternoon hike. I was actually thinking about taking a swim. 

While you can swim in the lake it's a rather chilly 60 degrees. Suffice it to say, I reconsidered taking that dip and opted to make a few amazing images.

After making a few dozen images we decided to have lunch on the beach and simply enjoy the view. We had just enough time to enjoy our stay before a storm rolled into our area. The climate at Teton is fickle at best.

But that dramatic sky makes for an incredible image.

QUESTION: When was the last time you were are a national park? What was your experience like? If you have not been then I highly recommend you take... more »

Evernote for Mac: Better Note Editing, Faster Sync, and 100s of Fixes

I have been using the beta for some time. I am happy the production version is out today. I just updated.

For me, +Evernote is an invaluable tool in getting things done. I am even in the process of using #evernote  as a task manager. There is small learning curve but I thinks its completely doable.

+Jeremy Cowart in 5 minutes gave me more advice on how to be a better photographer than anything else I have read :-)

And I agree with Cowart -- there are always better photographers out there. But how do you set yourself apart from the pack? Is it by producing better images or by having a better story?

It's obvious to me (now) that creating a better story around your life and photography is a much better value proposition.

+Jeremy Cowart in 5 minutes gave me more advice on how to be a better photographer than anything else I have read :-)

And I agree with Cowart -- there are always better photographers out there. But how do you set yourself apart from the pack? Is it by producing better images or by having a better story?

PHOTOS: THE GREATER YELLOWSTONE ECOSYSTEM

This is an image that I took at +Grand Teton National Park from Inspiration Point. The darker clouds to the left is an a storm that is rolling over the mountain. 

About 10 minutes after this image the sky turned grey and it started hailing. The weather at Grand Teton is very unpredictable.

This is an image from Yellowstone Lake. The green runoff is from the natural hot springs. Generally the lake freezes over in the winter. But the runoff keep the immediate area "warm."

So you will see animals and fish hanging out there in the winter.

This is simply a great use of technology to create an a amazing video.

I don't event shoot video and I am pumped :-)

Bottom line: You could NOT have captured some of these cool sequences even just a few, short years ago. Check out this great #BTS cut for "Streets," a new film by Tim Sessler at Brooklyn Aerials who brought the +Freefly Systems  #TERO and #MOVI M10 to capture new perspectives of his hometown streets. Also great to see that our good friend Mike Hagadorn was the BTS editor for this sick-looking piece. Seeing fresh creative work using the latest tech fires all of us up here at Corey Rich Productions!___This is simply a great use of technology to create an a amazing video.
