Josh Wilson1,868*Sorry everyone, I don't know what happened, but somehow the event was deleted. I've recreated it, but I can't get the original guest list back, so if you're attending please reconfirm on this event. Again, I apologize for the trouble.* *The Intro*: Explorers far and wide! Come one, come all, as we travel back in time to an age of castles, knights, chivalry and pretty cool sword fights. Back to a time where Google Glass does not exist and these "Witch Goggles" invoke curiosity and a possible burning at the stake. It promises to be an enjoyable evening for all with good food, good company, and a very entertaining performance. For this Glass and Relax, we will be heading to Medieval Times near Baltimore, Maryland. Currently I have the date set for 3/1, but we can adjust that prior to purchasing the tickets if a better date suits the group. These events are predominantly for Glass Explorers, but significant others and others are welcome too. While you may demonstrate your Glass to people if you like, this isn't meant to be a "What is Google Glass" meet up. This is meant to be something we can all attend, have fun, and leave with some enjoyable memories with your fellow Explorers. *The Details*: -I've been in talks with the sales rep and we can get the corporate discount rate if we can get a group of 10 or more people together to go. There are some add on a we can consider too, one that I would recommend is the Royalty Package, which is an extra $10 per person, bit includes guaranteed first or second row seating, some commemorative items (pennant, booklet) and one DVD for the group (would be given out at random, I'm not a contender as we already have one). There's also the appetizers for an additional $9.95 per person, where we would have pre-show appetizers separate from everyone else. The appetizer thing may be nice, but I still would recommend the Royalty package over it.- -The base rate would be about $44 per person, or $54 per person with the Royalty Package. The only downside to doing the group thing is that the tickets must be purchased at least 2 weeks in advance, and they must be purchased by one person, meaning we would all need to pay the same person in advance, be that me or another of the group, in order to get the group rate. That is the portion that I do not like but I understand it. I would prefer not to have to pool the money before hand and have everyone purchase their own ticket, but we could get better rates grouping. - The other option is we all purchase our own tickets via whatever means we like (sometimes groupon has deals) and just meet at the mall prior to the show. If we arrive as a group, we'll be seated as a group. This option is potentially more expensive, but I'm sure many of you would be more comfortable with that. We would all still need to agree on Royalty package or not though in order to still be seated together. *Update*  It looks like they have gift tickets on sale right now. a pack of 4 Royalty package woul#GlassAndRelax Medieval Edition2014-03-01 17:00:0016

I faced my most difficult parenting challenge yet.

This is my oldest daughter's first year of middle school. She's in a Performance and Visual Arts school, and the track she's on was dancing. This track was an unusual decision from my view, but the school was fantastic and she seemed eager to rise to a new challenge. After the first couple of weeks, it was clear this was the perfect environment for her. She has flourished in so many ways, and has excelled in all of her classes.

Well, almost all of them. In her first quarter, she got a C in Dance. The teacher, who is also the department lead, explained that while her work ethic was fantastic the lack of traditional dance experience put her at a disadvantage.

She was going to need to work twice as hard, and she was more than willing to do so.

And then she fractured her foot. Two months on crutches put her even further behind, and when she started recovering a nasty bout of bronchitis kept her out of school for another two weeks. She'd lost almost the entire quarter, which is when the teacher reached back out. If Acacia gets another C in this class, she'll be removed from this program. If she pulls up her grades and isn't able to pass the graduation exam, she won't be admitted intuitive the 7th grade part of this program.

The teacher loves my daughter, and knows how much she loves this school, so found an alternative. She can apply for another track in the PVA program, and transfer to it at the end of the year. For this school, and for this child, that means the Creative Writing and Drama track. But she needed to make this decision before she had actually failed in this dance track in order to guarantee a slot in this other program. If she waits until the end of the year, the open slots become a competition between the best from other schools looking to get in.

My daughter would have no problem excelling in this other track, but I had to figure out how to have this conversation with my daughter. I had to figure out how to give her enough information to make a decision without making this about a failure, and I really didn't want to make this decision for her.

In the end, she decided to apply for the new program and start taking private dance classes in her free time. There's no way to know if I could have handled this any better, but it feels like everyone involved is headed in the right direction.

Some thoughts on The Last Jedi:

The plural of Jedi is Jedi, so settle down with all the death talk. Here's what I'd like to see in the next movie.

1. I hope we see more of Kylo Ren battling with his light side. I'd love it if killing his father actually made that internal struggle worse. Going from "my father would hate it if I behaved this way" to "my father isn't around to disprove anymore and it's my fault" could make for a compelling internal struggle as long as they don't have to spell it out.

2. Rey is going to go far in her training, but not knowing what happened to her family is going to stop her from finishing it. I HOPE Luke has no idea who her parents are, and helping her through that journey because he remembers how his mid-training journey almost got everyone killed.

3. Finn needs to discover who he actually is while the Stormtrooper programming continues to wear off. Without a giant looming crisis he's going to struggle, and Poe is going to help him escape the nightmares and almost murder-y sensations. It'd be cool if the First Order knows this is a problem and sends an operative to trigger him into destroying the rebellion from within.

I'd be happy if any two of these three happen.___

Back in my server admin days, we had a primary AC failure while one of the secondary backups was being upgraded, in the middle of summer. To help the small backup unit, we bought 30 pounds of dry ice and set it up around the racks.

One of our techs thought he'd do the whole "welcome to the cloud" thing, but didn't think too hard about breathing in an environment that was nearly 60% carbon dioxide. The owner of the company arrived at the office to find an ambulance, several local utility company trucks, and an HVAC van all in the parking lot.

Pretty funny joke though.

This is a silly family story.

We spend every Christmas Eve with my Grandparents. It's a great excuse to bring everyone together and a convenient location to exchange gifts, so everyone tries really hard to make it special each year.

Last night, my Grandfather gets to his last gift and smiles as he discovers several pairs of khaki pants within. He offers an approving statement regarding the brand, checks to make sure the size is correct, and smiles as he returns the pants to their box. So far, a standard gift transaction.

My Grandmother, who gave the gift, is staring in disbelief. She says something about being surprised at him, and suddenly everyone realizes something isn't quite right about the gift. My Grandmother, who gave the gift, is staring in disbelief. She says something about being surprised at him, and suddenly everyone realizes something isn't quite right about the gift. My Grandfather quickly re-examines the top pair of khakis and makes it clear he thinks they're very nice and looks forward to wearing them soon. My Grandmother erupts into laughter at a joke no one else in the room gets, and after a minute of this kind of awkward silence and nervous stares, she explains.

These khakis, all three pair, were a gift from her to him three years ago. She discovered them in the bottom of his closet with the tags and stickers still on, and decided to gift them as a gag. What made this especially funny for her was how meticulous my retired Army grandfather typically is. To have both not noticed something was missing and not recognized a previous gift was entirely out of character, such that he did not believe her and immediately went to confirm this story.

A minute or two later, he comes back down the steps completely embarrassed. These were in fact those same pants, and his wife had very publicly pulled one over on him. After a minute or two of shock everyone laughed about the exchange, and I'm pretty sure today those pants were the first thing he reached for to wear.___

It took me a while to figure out how to write this. I wasn't planning on writing it today, but when something clicks you just have to get it out of your brain.

Thanks for being awesome, +Steve Kondik. I'm eager to see what all of my friends from this group do next.

"The studios are looking at rental prices ranging from $25 to $50 per film, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter isn’t settled."

This would be worth it for every kids move ever, at least for our family. Costs at least $50 for the whole group to go see a movie.

Primary Care Physician: Yeah the 6 month restart sucks, but I'll prescribe you this thing that will accelerate your metabolism and decrease your hunger to make it a little easier.

Insurance Company: Hey thanks for the money. BTW those are diet pills, we don't cover those.

Six months of meticulous diet logs, during which I demonstrated a 50lb loss on top of the 40lbs I had already lost before deciding on this surgery, have been completely voided out today. My documentation lacked examination from my primary care physician every 30 days. We skipped a month, because neither my doctor nor I knew such rigid guidelines existed and the insurance company has needs.

I need to start over completely, and this time I need to make sure I see my primary care physician every month for the next six months so the new diet logs can be individually inspected, approved, and sent to the insurance company on a precise schedule.

Fuck. Everything.

Quick notice to those who care or communicate with me only through G+:

I'm taking some time away from social networks. Need to focus on stuff at work and at home, so y'all need to be put on pause for a while. Not sure when I'll be back. If you absolutely need to reach me and don't have my phone number, email will be the way to do that.
