RT61,676Got any questions about our planet’s nuclear future, chances of Fukushima issue being tackled and pros and cons of the nuclear energy? Come and ask pediatrician, anti-nuclear advocate Helen Caldicott, who the Smithsonian calls one of the most influential women of the 20th century at a Google+ Hangout. It's happening on Tuesday, November 5, at 13:00 GMT. In one of her recent articles on RT.com, Helen Caldicott wrote: “As I contemplate the future at Fukushima, it seems that the escape of radiation is virtually unstoppable. The levels of radiation in buildings 1, 2 and 3 are now so high that no human can enter or get close to the molten cores. It will therefore be impossible to remove these cores for hundreds of years if ever.” She believes that one of the steps Japanese government should take to prevent worst case consequences is to cancel the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Join the conversation and learn more about her take on nuclear energy issues.Hangout with pediatrician, anti-nuclear activist Helen Caldicott2013-11-05 14:00:0099

The Planetary Society2,869,260This week we will be talking about the effects of the impending Sequester, the across-the-board cuts to almost all federal programs, on NASA and the U.S. Space Program. The Sequester is scheduled to begin on March 1st, 2013, unless Congress acts to replace it with targeted cuts and/or revenue of equal value.Joining me is a very special guest from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Jon Morse. Dr. Morse previously served as the Director of NASA's Astrophysics Division in Washington, D.C., and was a Senior Policy Analyst for the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). He currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Research for Physical Sciences & Engineering at RPI.Dr. Morse will bring a wealth of experience on how last minute budget cuts can effect the direction and capability within NASA, how a division makes decisions to prioritize programs, and what it's like to work for NASA headquarters. As always, we will be taking your questions on our Google+ event page, Twitter via the hashtag #planetarylive, or on the YouTube comments thread for the video. Chemtrails over Skopje?
Photos taken around 19:45, 29th of July 2014. The sky over the northern outskirts of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. The trails were hanging for more than 25 minutes.
Another turn of flights (couldn't take photos, the battery went dead), left another set of trails, one definitely originating from a small plane, pressumably business jet.
Chemtrails or contrails, I am not the person to say. On the other hand, the contrail of one plane seen in five or more of the photos seemed to be evaporating after 30-40 seconds.

Why Your Community Posts Might Be Flagged As Spam

Many people ask why their posts to Google+ communities are flagged as spam by the Google+ spam filters. Google doesn't share details about how the spam filters work work (because that would make it easy for spammer to stay just on the legal side of what the filters would block and annoy us all), but we know -- or at least believe we know -- a few things based on observation:

* Identical or substantially similar posts shared or reshared with multiple communities are more likely to be flagged as spam, especially if they are shared/reshared  within a relatively short period of time. To avoid this, I recommend never sharing similar material to more than three communities within about a two-hour period.

* Posts which contain only links or links with only a minimal amount additional information (also known as "link litter") appear to have a higher probability of being flagged as spam. Such posts violate the rules in many communities. As an aside, there are also strong indications that posts like that also have an extremely low click-through rate.

* Posts which are identical or similar to posts that have been removed from multiple communities for violating the communities' rules appear to have a higher probability of being flagged as spam. It is extremely important to become familiar with a community's rules before posting in the community because the rules vary significantly between communities, and a pattern of violating the rules in some communities might affect your posts to other communities.

* Posts containing the same link or similar links (e.g., links to other posts in the same blog) as posts which were previously flagged as spam appear to have a higher probability of being flagged as spam.

* Posts which are reshares of non-community public or private posts which were reported as spam appear to have a higher probability of being flagged as spam. Note that selecting the option for email notification when sharing non-community posts can lead people to report the posts as spam because many recipients do not appreciate the unwanted emails. You should virtually never use that option unless people have asked to be notified by email.

* Posts by individuals who have previously been identified as spammers by the spam filters have a higher probability of being flagged as spam. If you get indications that your posts are being flagged as spam, it is best to review and change your posting habits promptly. The longer you persist in the same behavior, the longer the spam filters appear to treat you as a spammer. In serious cases, it can even lead to your account being suspended or revoked.

What happens if your community posts are flagged as spam
When the Google+ spam filters flag a post as spam, it is held in a moderation queue which is only visible to the community's moderators. The moderators then have three options: Approve, which makes the post visible to all community members; Remove, which removes the post from the community; or to Remove, Report, and Ban, which removes the post from the community, reports it to Google, and removes the user from the community. Banned members cannot join the community again unless and until a moderator removes the ban.___

Sorry to interrupt... The meteorological conditions this afternoon in the north of Skopje seem just identical to the ones mentioned just few days ago (please follow the link)....
And now we do not have those trails. Could, please, someone explain to me - am I stupid or are there people who like to lie?

Chemtrails over Skopje?
Recorded around 19:45, 29th of July 2014. The sky over the northern outskirts of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. The trails were hanging for more than 25 minutes.
Chemtrails or contrails, I am not the person to say. The sight, though, struck me.

Baby Sand Cat

Don't be fooled by cute overload, the Sand Cat (Felis Margarita) is a little-known species of desert cats. They live in the harshest deserts of Africa and Asia. They're comfortable in environments other wildcats cannot handle, like the Sahara and Arabian deserts as well as those of Iran and Pakistan.

Sand cats look a like domestic cats, but they're larger and thicker, especially around the head. Their ears are wider apart which flattens out when crouching down for the hunt. Fur lines their under-paws and between the toes to protect against the scorching sand.

The most incredible fact is this cat can go for months without drinking water! Oddly, as a wildcat they're not afraid of humans. This cat is simply fearless and definitely impressive.

Bob Marley Died 33 Years Ago Today
from +Frank Beacham and history.com
In what would prove to be the next to the last concert of his tragically short life, Bob Marley shared the bill at Madison Square Garden with the hugely popular American funk band, The Commodores.
With no costumes, no choreography and no set design to speak of, "The reggae star had the majority of his listeners on their feet and in the palm of his hand," said New York Times critic Robert Palmer. "After this show of strength, and Mr. Marley's intense singing and electric stage presence, the Commodores were a letdown."
Only days after his triumphant shows in New York City, Bob Marley collapsed while jogging in Central Park and later received a grim diagnosis: a cancerous growth on an old soccer injury on his big toe had metastasized and spread to Marley's brain, liver and lungs.
Less than eight months later, on May 11, 1981—33 years ago today—Bob Marley, the soul and international face of reggae music, died in a Miami, Florida, hospital. He was only 36 years old.
Nesta Robert Marley was born on February 6, 1945, in rural St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, the son of a middle-aged white Jamaican Marine officer and an 18-year-old black Jamaican girl. At the age of nine, Marley moved to Trench Town, a tough West Kingston ghetto where he would meet and befriend Neville "Bunny" Livingston (later Bunny Wailer) and Peter McIntosh (later Peter Tosh) and drop out of school at age 14 to make music.
Jamaica at the time was entering a period of incredible musical creativity. As transistor radios became available on an island then served only by a staid, BBC-style national radio station, the music of America suddenly became accessible via stateside radio stations.
From a mix of New Orleans-style rhythm and blues and indigenous, African-influenced musical traditions arose first ska, then rock steady—precursor styles to reggae, which did not take shape as a recognizable style of its own until the late 1960s.
Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer performed together as The Wailers throughout this period, coming into their own as a group just as reggae became the dominant sound in Jamaica. Thanks to the international reach of Island Records, the Wailers came to the world's attention in the early 1970s via their albums Catch a Fire (1972) and Burnin' (1973).
Eric Clapton spread the group's name even wider by recording a pop-friendly version of "I Shot The Sheriff" from the latter album. With the departure of Tosh and Wailer in 1974, Marley took center stage in the group, and by the late 70s he had turned out a string of albums— Exodus (1977), featuring "Jamming," "Waiting In Vain" and "One Love/People Get Ready;" Kaya (1978), featuring "Is This Love" and "Sun Is Shining;" and Uprising (1980), featuring "Could You Be Loved" and "Redemption Song."
While none of the aforementioned songs was anything approaching a hit in the United States during Bob Marley's lifetime, they constitute a legacy that has only increased his fame in the years since his death on this day in 1981.
Here, Marley performs “No Woman No Cry” in 1979.
