On Wednesday night it looked like Autcraft was hacked and all the data destroyed. The kids were quite upset, naturally.

It turns out that they had only hijacked the IP address somehow to direct everyone to one of their servers and made it look like they had hacked us.

They demanded that we pay $1000 or they'd keep doing it. They told kids that autistics didn't deserve to live, that they should kill themselves. They told me that I'd never figure out what they did and could never stop them. 45 minutes later, we stopped them.

Being sore losers, they've been DDOS attacking the server ever since. Today I went to a charity marathon server to offer my support... those trolls followed me and DDOS attacked the charity server too. No one was able to play there frown emoticon

The guys as EZP.net have been beyond amazing at getting Autcraft secured, moved and then even more secured in record time.

Still though, in a world where politicians are passing laws to prevent gay people from having any sense of being equal to anyone else, here we can see total monsters out there who see autistics as a blemish on humanity that needs to be removed.

This is why Autcraft exists. This is why I work so hard at this.
Unfortunately this hurts more than just what's been done because moving forward it means that I'm going to have to pay more for anti-ddos services, more extensive setups and more. This is going to cost me more than just the time I've had to put into it.

All that said, I am exhausted. Tired, stressed and exhausted.

This April 2nd, I will be hosting a 24 hour live stream to make a plea challenge to the Minecraft community to stand up to bullies.

My server was created as a result of how much autistic children are bullied on the servers that they try to play on... I can't just stand by and let it happen.

Gameband has sponsored this year's live stream and will be allowing me to give away 2 of their devices during the stream.

Please spread the word, please join along. I'd love to see you there!

You all know that April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day but did you know that since I started Autcraft, I've been reaching out to the Minecraft community each year to get them to help me stop the bullying of autistic children?

See, I started my server to give them a safe place to play but that's not good enough. Children, with or without autism, should be allowed to play their favourite games anywhere that any other child can.
This year, I'll be hosting a 24 hour live stream from midnight to midnight, April 2nd.

While others attempt to raise awareness in general, I choose to focus on autism, bullying and the Minecraft community.

Please join me and pledge your support by visiting

This year, April 2nd, will be the 3rd annual "Plea to the Minecraft Community" where I ask them to be more aware of autistics in the community and to help put a stop to the bullying that lead to the creation of my server, Autcraft.

I'm immensely proud of Autcraft and all that we've done but the truth is, I wish it was never needed in the first place.

So each since starting it, I've reached out for help from Minecrafters to help put a stop to the bullying that happens on servers and let kids play the game they love anywhere they want to.

We have one young player on the Autcraft server that insists that I say "hi" and "bye" to him each and every time he comes and goes. It's pretty awesome actually. It's always great to see him and I'm glad he takes the time to let me say "bye" before he signs off.

He is a player that's never spammed or caused any trouble in chat, however recently he's been starting to spam a bit. Nothing excessive but at least once or twice each day, he'd repeat a bunch of characters across the screen, such as ">"s or "-"s.

It seemed rather odd and we basically all agreed that we'd have to start muting him in chat if it becomes a problem (starts to annoy other players).

I had the opportunity to talk to his mother recently and discovered that this player is blind in one eye and appears to be losing vision in his other eye which means... he may be blind soon.

This explained a lot and helped me to understand why those repeating characters were happening more and more... he was dividing up the chat and making it easier to see.

A quick message to the other admins and helpers on the server and now we're all aware of this and going to support him with his needs even if it means explaining to the other players that in his case, it's OK to do what he's doing.

This is just one of the many ways that Autcraft is different from all other servers.

PS. Also... if you think you have problems, just imagine being an autistic child that's going blind. It's terrible. frown emoticon

This has been something that I've been working on for quite some time!

The Autcraft Real World Modpack tries to add to the already existing game, not take away from it. The world is expanded upon with more biomes, more natural feeling terrain, more animals, plants, foods and even mobs. Also added are a bunch of mods that allow you to build a home that feels more real and complete.

Looking back on 2015, I don't even know where to begin. Autcraft has always been unbelievable in terms of just how successful it's been, right from the very first day, but 2015 took 'success' to a whole new level.

In The News

Towards the end of 2014, the media heard about Autcraft and thought we made a good enough story to tell the rest of the world. I found myself doing interviews for most of the first half of 2015 from television, radio, magazines and blogs around the world. Not just myself though, I was also able to pass some of the 'fame' along to our players as they found themselves on the television or in radio interviews including the Today Show in Australia and the BBC in England.

Looking back on 2015, I don't even know where to begin. Autcraft has always been unbelievable in terms of just how successful it's been, right from the very first day, but 2015 took 'success' to a whole new level.

Growth

When the first news stories of 2015 were published, Autcraft had just over 5000 names on the whitelist, which is a lot! It was enough to catch the media and the world's attention. Now as we approach 2016, our whitelist is now just under 6500! It's not just the overall user base that's grown. We've also gone from 22 Buddy ranked players to 42, 14 JrHelpers to 25 and 8 SrHelpers to 13. These numbers continue to grow all the time not just because we have more players to choose from but because the maturity and over all atmosphere of the server continues to grow and evolve. Kindness inspires kindness. Helpfulness inspires helpfulness.

This year, several very large websites called Autcraft "The Best Community on the Internet" which is quite the title to live up to but it's also not far from the truth. Established players have the biggest and warmest greetings for new players that anyone has ever seen. When a player needs help to do just about anything, there is always someone willing to help. That's not just because we've grown in player count, it's because the heart of the server continues to grow as well, within each one of us.

Change

In September we announced the "Big Plan" for 2016. We opened four brand new Build Worlds, a new Role Play World, and a Wither World for our epic Wither fights. The primary reason for this was that the main build worlds we had from 2014 were too large and were starting to have data errors. Simply exploring in those old worlds would cause people's games to crash and they'd no longer be able to play on the server again unless we could find a way to get them out.

As expected, we met a lot of resistance to this. From many players we heard about how they didn't want to have to rebuild everything in the new worlds. In addition, we heard from parents who insisted that we didn't understand autism or the need for routine or the impact of change.

What many people didn't realize, even of themselves, is that change really hasn't been so bad! Many players moved and did it much more quickly than expected. Most people created bigger and better bases than they had ever had before. For those that had a lot to move or started moving too late, the entire community dropped what they were doing and pitched in to help! It was amazing watching dozens of people work together to take apart the most massive bases. Players worked together and even made new friends in the process. In the end, the move wasn't just tolerable but it became a source of inspiration for each other and even for me! It's amazing to see these kids do all the things that no one else ever thought they could.

Moving Forward

We now receive a steady stream of whitelist applications at the level we used to get for only a moment after a big news story. And there are still more news stories to come. We have more worlds, more players and more demands placed on us, including the need for additional servers. Hopefully, a creative server.

In 2015, I put a plan in motion to make Autcraft be my one and only focus (aside from my own family). With so many big changes, with so much world wide attention and such a heavy workload, it is now impossible to have a day job and manage Autcraft at the same time. Autcraft needs your support to help us reach our goal. With such a high number of people on our server, it would only take a $1/m from each of you to more than surpass that goal.

No, I am not in this to make money, that was never my intention and those of you that have met me know this. I only wish to do right by all of our children. I want to provide them the best of services but also the time and attention that they deserve. More helpers, more admins, and most of all, more of me. I need your help to make that a reality.

To support Autcraft going forward into 2016 and beyond, please help us by sharing our story, joining in the game yourself, and if at all possible, only if truly able, supporting us reach our goal as a subscriber at: http://autcraft.com/shop#points-subscription-988690 or a patron at: https://www.patreon.com/autismfather

2016 and The Future

Going into 2016, we say good-bye to the worlds that we started in 2014 but doing so, we put our mistakes behind us and build on all that we've learned. New worlds, new missions and a bigger community than ever.

Thank you to all that have supported us in getting Autcraft to this point. Thank you to all that believed in us, allowing us play with yourselves and your children.

And thank you to those that have joined our community whether in game, on our Facebook page, on our listserv, or in any other way. Being a part of all of this helps us, it guides us and shows us how to do better. And for that, we appreciate every single one of you.

Thank you from myself, Stuart Duncan (AutismFather), the rest of the admin team and everyone on Autcraft.

Figures, right?

This brings the console versions up to be pretty much on par with the 1.8 PC version of Minecraft.

Which is just in time for the PC version to update to 1.9 next month.

Minecraft for the Wii U is a thing as of today.

More comparable to the XBox or PS4 version than the PC version. Basically the same look and feel although the graphics do feel crisper somehow.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't make it so that you could have the crafting/inventory management in the gamepad with the game play on the television. Basically the gamepad just acts as a mirror, showing you the same stuff as on the television, which is ok if you want to use the television for something else I guess.

However the gamepad is a touchscreen so when you are crafting or doing inventory stuff, you can just touch what you want. That's cool.

Without trying to get too political, I'd like to share something with you all.

As an autistic person, I have to tread lightly on the Internet and even in the world. Everywhere I go, there are people all too eager to call me a 'retard' or even hate me simply for existing with autism.

We see people being bullied/abused in the news all the time for simply being autistic and that scares me, not just for me but for my child.

If there is a murder somewhere in the world, the media only need suggest that there was mental illness involved for millions and millions of people to immediately associate me, as an autistic, to that murderer. Once autism is even implied, people see me as potentially being every bit as dangerous. And why? We share one thing in common.

Right now, we can see this very same thing unfolding with Muslims. A select few Muslims have turned to terrorism, to murder, and there are millions and millions of people associating good people with those bad people. Why? Because they share one thing in common?

That's like saying that all fans of a sports team are dangerous because the San Bernardino terrorist liked the same team. I'd even wager that most sports fans are more passionate about their sports than religious people are about their religions.

I see parents, day after day, questioning whether or not to even have their child diagnosed with autism when they know in their hearts that they are autistic. Why? The label. They fear the label. I understand why.

Every time a murderer is associated with autism, my world becomes a little more uncomfortable... more filled with hate.

I am not the bad guy just because I am autistic anymore than a Muslim is a bad person just because they're Muslim.

Imagine yourself or your child being unable to seek safety or to be allowed entry to a country because some other autistic person somewhere did something terrible.

Because it will happen if this is the precedent we are to set.___

I took a few photos while out for a walk yesterday and Google magically stitched two of them together and made a panorama out of it.

I'm impressed!

We all know that My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic fans are some of the most devoted fans there are. And we have a pretty big players base that are very dedicated MLP fans.

We've had a Ponyville for a very long time now but it was never completed. There were only a few buildings and just one pony was ever made into pixel art. It was a nice that we had it at all but it was never enough.

Once we started creating the new RP World, we wanted to ensure that Ponyville became a real place with real feeling. MatrixCrawler took great care to lay it out in a way that made it feel like a real village, complete with pathways and lighting.

I took to the task of making sure the rest of the ponies were there. But then it happened.

Right in the middle of creating the pixel art ponies, a young lady named Candi Brooks-Neurodiversity is Magic posted a photo of a whole new pony that she designed herself. It's the Neurodiversity is Magic pony. And I thought to myself... we need that!

So I recreated it as best I could and took a screen shot and asked Candi for permission to include it on Autcraft in our very own Ponyville and she said yes!

So now, exclusive to Autcraft, we have our very own, extra special pony that feels like she's literally a perfect fit for our server.

If you or your children are MLP fans, be sure to check out the new and improved Ponyville on Autcraft with our very own special Neurodiversity is Magic pony.

I now have 4 double chests (in game) of books like this, many of which are much more detailed and emotional.

Every few days I get a new book from a child that simply appreciates the time and energy that we put in to ensuring that they are simply... safe.

The funny thing is that, when you think about wars happening in the world, terrorists, school shootings.... and right here, on a video game server, children with autism, every day, don't feel safe just being themselves.

What a thing to have to give to people who should already feel that way but don't.

For most of my life I went from job to job doing what I had learned to do in order to have that job and pay my bills. It's never been a rewarding feeling at all but rather, a necessity.

Then I started Autcraft and even though it never paid my bills, it has been the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I'm still struggling to make it work and there are still people who think I should be doing a job rather than "playing a video game" but in the end, what I do with these kids has greater value than anything else I've ever done.

Please read. I know it's long but this is very important.

I am going to start and end this post with my apologies. I truly am so very sorry because I'm about to tell you how much I've let you all down and am even more sorry for where this has lead me.

First, I am very nearly reaching the point where I can no longer keep Autcraft online but even worse, reaching the point where I will lose my children and my home. I've never ever wanted it to come to point this, obviously but I also never wanted to have anyone know about it. My personal life is supposed to be personal but I have to face the reality that it now begins to affect a lot of other people's lives as well.

In late 2012, my Aspergers diagnosis cost me my marriage. Then in June 2013, I started Autcraft. I thought I could manage, I thought I could go on.

Autcraft turned out to be more of a full time job than my full time job. It required 10-14 hour days from me (sometimes more), seven days a week. Holidays weren't holidays for me, they were my busiest days. Several server moves, maintenance, fixes, updates, building things, playing with kids and talking for hours and hours with both children and adults alike about their most personal and vulnerable moments.

The other admins have all said and agreed that it's the most stressful "job" they've ever had but also the most rewarding. But they don't do even half of what I do and yet they still put in crazy hours without getting a single moment to just stop and play.

Near the end of 2013, I got court documents stating that my ex wanted to take my children from me, get child support and spousal support too. I tried to get legal aide but they had already given it to her so I was not eligible. I had to borrow money and apply for credit cards to pay legal fees.

My job struggled, Autcraft struggled and of course, I struggled. I had to fight for my kids. In June 2014, I was commited for depression thoughts. For 55 hours, I sat in an 8x8 sterile room without talking to or seeing anyone. I just kept worrying about my children and thinking about how much I was letting down all the children on Autcraft who were looking forward so much to my birthday, just 4 days away.

When I finally talked to a doctor on that 3rd day and told her of my love for my kids, all the kids on Autcraft, my duties and responsibilities and how much I loved all of this in my life, I was released later that day.

It was all a misunderstanding. I wasn't depressed, I was exhausted. The doctor loves Autcraft and what we've accomplished.

It wasn't long after this that I left Autcraft to focus on my life and my children and getting things together. However, the very day I made my announcement, no less than three different people tried to take over Autcraft to change and mold Autcraft towards their own designs. Behind the scenes, I never left. I worked with the admins to keep everything running as it was, to keep the children safe, to ensure that no one could ruin what the admins were trying their best to hold together without me.

Not long after this, my lawyer, the judge and everyone else advised that I take a temporary deal to pay child support in the same amount as what I should be entitled to in child benefits from the Canadian government, until those benefits come in and then rework that deal.
What none of them told me, which I just found out last week, is that not only did my lawyers not send in the paperwork to reverse that deal but the Canadian government disqualifies you from those child benefits once it is decided that you should pay child support, even if temporary and even if reversed. So not only do I still have to pay but I also don't get any of that money to pay it. A double whammy.

So no legal aid, no child benefits, have to pay child support and on top of this... because I fought so hard, I have my children 50% of the time. Meanwhile my ex's lawyer yells at me "you have to support your children!" to my face and my ex offers to give me money for groceries because she knows I have none... and yet?

I am sharing all this with you because you deserve to know. As I said, this all affects you. Right now, I have just barely enough to cover my rent. That's it. I'm going to have to borrow again. But I can't keep that up.

So again, I'm very sorry. I'm sorry to have to share this with you all. I'm sorry to have to ask for your help. I'm sorry for failing you all. I'm sorry to my own children for not doing better.

I've talked with the other admins, who by the way, are parents just like you. They play on the server, their children play on the server. They are not employees and are not loyal to me, they are loyal to the children that play on the server. And those admins agree with me and back me up on this, in fact, they're the ones who said it to me... without me, there is no Autcraft.

If anything these last 2 years have taught me is that it's unsafe to leave Autcraft in the hands of anyone else. Not that there aren't people as capable or even better suited than me, but that... it is me. This is what I've done and, as this post proves, it is my personal life now and it affects your personal lives. I never intended for that, I really didn't. But it's how it is now.

If I up and close Autcraft tomorrow because I can't do this anymore, that affects you and your children... not just me. This isn't just a failed website that I can close and no one will notice. This is much bigger than me.

This is why I started Patreon a few months ago and why I need it to do well so badly. Without you... I lose my kids. I lose everything. Autcraft will be no more, I will no longer be online at all. I will have failed everyone and in the worst way possible.

I already have failed you because here I am, having not been able to do this on my own.

Also, before you say it, I have exhausted all my options. I truly have. I've been fighting this fight for so long, trying everything I can think of. But despite what you've heard about karma or paying it forward or good things coming to good people... not much has gone right for me through any of this.

People laugh and joke about me being famous for being in the news but I hated it. Being in the news meant 10+ hour days for weeks on end answering white list requests but no new donations came in... no new income. It meant more children finding a safe place to play and for that I was happy. But it meant more work for me with no money coming in.

People keep asking me for more servers, more worlds, more mini-games, more and more and more all the while complaining that I charge a dollar or two for items or permissions. I say nothing because I hate having to do that too. I hate having to ask. I hate having to charge. I hate it.

So, as I promised, I'm finishing by saying I'm sorry. I'm sorry I failed you, I'm sorry I'm asking for your help. I've never asked anyone for anything ever... much less money. I hate it, I despise it and I am sitting here in tears right now because I hate that I'm writing this. I hate it so much.

I've done all I could. I've tried so hard despite so much being against me. But I wasn't strong enough. I couldn't do it.

For Autcraft... for what I've done for so many, I have never asked for anything in return. But now I am. And I hate it. But it's the only way I can keep doing it. It's the only way I can do more. I need your help. I need you.

Without you, right now, Autcraft will close.

Even if it's just $3. There are currently around 1200 unique players on Autcraft each month. Even just $3 from each person would be more than enough.

I've done so much for so long, I never thought I'd ever have to ask for anything in return.

I'm sorry. I really am. I hate asking.

I hate failing you all even more, especially my children.

We had a clear sky right up until the last photo so that was where my show ended but I did manage to get a few decent shots of the first half anyway despite no longer having a tripod.
