Report: Senate Intel Committee asks agencies to keep records related to Russian probe

The Senate Intelligence Committee is requesting that agencies preserve all materials that could tie into the committee's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The Associated Press reported Sunday, citing a congressional aide, that the committee had sent formal requests to more than a dozen organizations, agencies and individuals requesting the materials related to the probe into the Russian meddling be preserved.

Shame Google Plus won't fix that problem with Twitter...I've been passing around some really good stuff there that I really can't share here without loading up a lot of graphics and such and reposting them.

Some serious feeling among some serious reporters that the WH is getting very serious looks by the FBI, and Pence is lying out of his tutu, and nobody with any savvy whatsoever is going to come close to filling those positions that need real NatSec background, and that the "grownups" are starting to come together while Trump plays ego games.

We'll see how perceptive this is in the next couple of weeks, I suspect.

(also, I spent a good part of this morning escaping into some nature series from South Africa called Wildlife Diaries. I needed a break, too)

quote: So instead of an imperial presidency, what we may see is what Josh Marshall describes as a Potemkin one where Trump tweets and rants and boasts and spins but is increasingly isolated, detached, and dismissed. If what has happened over the last month is any indication, on foreign policy Trump could end up being a more sinister Silvio Berlusconi or like Richard Nixon in 1973-1974 — a clownish figure striving for attention but paralyzed by scandal, teetering on the brink of constitutional crisis, brooding about enemies in the press and bureaucracy, lashing out to stay relevant, but with little ability and bandwidth to shape policy.

A thing I first noticed today:

Growing rattling from the anti "anti-Trump" faction, supporting the Trump faction by saying by being anti-Trump, you're alienating centerist people.

It's not a surprising bit of rhetoric. What's surprising is how early in Trump's presidency they're having to play that card, in comparison to past administrations....
