The Nature Conservancy7,024,524Join The Nature Conservancy’s online community on May 13 as we talk about everyone’s favorite raptor – the osprey! Thousands of people are logging onto the Conservancy’s website this spring to watch osprey couple Josie and Elbert via our Gulf Coast live osprey cam. On this Google Hangout, we’ll be joined by two ornithologists — Matt Pelikan & Rob Bierregaard  — who will take us inside the lives of these osprey and their growing family. Matt Pelikan is a restoration ecologist on Martha's Vineyard, helping to maintain and restore the island's sandplain natural communities, along with shellfish and eelgrass off its shores. He is also a lover of birds, butterflies, tiger beetles, damselflies and dragonflies, and grasshoppers, crickets, and katydids.    http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/regions/northamerica/unitedstates/massachusetts/explore/ma-matt-pelikan-qa.xml   Rob Bierregaard is a Research Associate of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. He has been studying Ospreys in southern New England since 1971. Beginning in 1998 he restarted an intensive census of the population on Martha's Vineyard. In 2013 we completed the 16th survey of the island's Ospreys. http://www.ospreytrax.com/Let's Talk Osprey2015-05-13 20:00:0094

We invite you to submit questions to our panel of ocean experts and then watch the conversation live on Friday, June 27 starting at 12:30 pm EST.   Ocean Experts:   Fabien Cousteau – Mission 31 Oceanographic explorer, conservationist, documentary filmmaker, and the grandson of the famous ocean explorer, Jacques Cousteau   Dr. Christine Shepard – The Nature Conservancy Scientist studying nature-based approaches such as coral reef restoration to reduce impacts of storms and sea level rise to coastal communities   Kemit-Amon Lewis - The Nature Conservancy Coral restoration expert for the Caribbean program and lead for a reef-responsible seafood initiative in the US Virgin Islands   Caitlin Lustic – The Nature Conservancy Marine scientist in the Florida Keys managing coral restoration and monitoring coral stress events such as bleaching, disease, and mortality   Submit your questions for our experts on Google+, Facebook and Twitter using #ReefTalk .   Then tune in to www.nature.org/reeftalk on Friday, June 27 at 12:30 pm EST to watch the conversation live.#ReefTalk: Why Coral Reefs Play an Important Role for People and Our Oceans2014-06-27 18:30:00185

Climate is a tough topic. And we're not all on the same page. But the path to climate progress requires finding common ground with those who hold different views.

"And I say to you today my friends, let freedom ring. From the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire, let freedom ring. From the mighty mountains of New York, let freedom ring. From the mighty Alleghenies of Pennsylvania! Let freedom ring from the snow capped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California! But not only there; let freedom ring from the Stone Mountain of Georgia! Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain in Tennessee! Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill in Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring."
