Jason T. Wiser22,451*Storytelling for Business Building with Chris Brogan* There’s a lot of talk lately about storytelling in business and for good reason. Stories help people to understand and relate to your business journey. Where did you get the idea? What was the first thing you did when you realized that you had a good idea? what worked? what was your biggest mistake?  This program is produced by http://ontracktips.com/storytelling-business-building-chris-brogan/ It’s the answers to these questions that interviewers love to ask because viewers want to experience the journey of the successful business owner. They want to imagine themselves walking this path and living this dream. But aside from telling your rise to the top story, what other stories can we tell as business owners? what other stories do people want to hear? That’s why I have invited @118320665823821681206  to “Get on Track, Stay on Track” because Chris is passionate about small business and he understands the value of telling story for branding, for marketing, for business. *Chris is the Author of* "Trust Agents", "Google+ for Business" "The Impact Equation" "Social Media 101" and the soon to be released "The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth" http://jtw.bz/ChrisBr (affiliate link) Some of the questions I’m going to be asking Chris are: ⇒ Other than your rise to the top story, what day to day stories can we tell in marketing? ⇒ What are some of the best examples of companies that are using storytelling in business today? ⇒ How much of your personal life do you share in your business story? If this interests you, start asking questions now AND Invite 2 friends! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Did you click "Yes" on the event invite? Is God A Crutch For The Weak?

I recently shared a post across my social spaces with a quote card of a lion and the words, ‘Once you become fearless, you become limitless’ on it. The post narrative was from 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Didn’t take long to receive this as the first comment: LOL! “God” is for the weak!

Let’s explore this a bit…

All Men Die; Few Men Ever Really LIVE
By John Eldredge

The most dangerous man on earth is the man who has reckoned with his own death. All men die; few men ever really live. Sure, you can create a safe life for yourself . . . and end your days in a rest home babbling on about some forgotten misfortune. I'd rather go down swinging. Besides, the less we are trying to "save ourselves," the more effective a warrior we will be. Listen to G. K. Chesterton on courage:

Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die. "He that will lose his life, the same shall save it" is not a piece of mysticism for saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of... more »

"He that will lose his life, the same shall save it" is not a piece of mysticism for saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of quite earthly or quite brutal courage. A man cut off by the sea may save his life if he will risk it on the precipice. He can only get away from death by continually stepping within an inch of it. A soldier surrounded by enemies, if he is to cut his way out, needs to combine a strong desire for living with a strange carelessness about dying. He must not merely cling to life, for then he will be a coward, and will not escape. He must not merely wait for death, for then he will be a suicide, and will not escape. He must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it; he must desire life like water and yet drink death like wine.

(Excerpt from 'Wild at Heart' by John Edlredge)

Are You Passing The Mantle?

Recently watched Wrath Of The Titans with my son and the ending scene really stuck a chord with me. In this scene Perseus passes the mantle to his son Helius by speaking words of life and symbolically by handing over his sword.

Yeah, this is a fictional movie but this scene gets at the core of what’s missing today.

Consider this glimpse in the story of Jesus. Before His ministry begins, before He has His wilderness experience Jesus hears these words from God, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17) Ever pause and think about the significance of this?

This is huge!

Why Our Next President Won’t Be The Hope We’re Looking For!

With a nation deeply divided, the political landscape continues to heat up. One camp rooting for Donald Trump and the other camp rooting for Hillary Clinton, with an almost radical zealot zeal.

Have you ever noticed that we as humans continuously want to find a “king”? This is what disturbs me about these political campaigns, especially the election of the next President of the United States. Sure we call the show politics and the players politicians, but deep down inside we are trying to find leadership — a king. You know all the signs advertising the person’s name and crowds are chanting the names of their king-to-be. It’s as if we are working to establish a kingdom here on earth. Of course we show our support for our king-to-be in a non-violent way (wink wink), most of the time. Are you tracking withme?

In a sense we are transferring power from one kingdom to another and inevitability time reveals that all kings end up being the same. They live for their kingdom and not for us, the voters.

There’s something odd about us, isn’t there? Let’s rewind the tape back to ancient times when the people of Israel wanted a king and God tries to debate with them on how bad of an idea this was. God basically tells them that they don’t know what their asking for, but gives them what they want anyways. Here’s the rub…there is something inside all of us that wants to worship something, but we always seem to choose a “king” rather than choosing God.

Skillet - "Feel Invincible" [Official Music Video]

Here we go again
I will not give in
I've got a reason to fight
Every day we choose
We might win or lose
This is the dangerous life
Hey hey hey everyday when I wake
They say that I'm gone they say that they've won
(The bell has been rung it's over and done)
Hey hey hey when I need to be saved
They're counting me out but this is my round
(You in my corner look at me now)

7 Ways to be a Better Husband
By Joe Beam

Even the greatest athlete benefits from coaching. Though I realize that husbands reading this likely are already awesome, I offer these tips as a marriage coach. Use them to go from great to glorious in seven easy steps.

1. Do not talk to her as if she is one of the guys.

Listen to guy buddies talk about anything for more than five minutes and you likely will hear one of them let the other know that he is an idiot. When men talk with their male friends, they tend to be direct or even argumentative. They share their opinions freely and bluntly. They jokingly insult each other. They blast anything the other guy says that they do not like or agree with. They rarely stop to think, “Am I being insensitive? Could I possibly be hurting his feelings?” The guy code is to let the chips fall where they may.

Women are NOT like that.

If a husband talks with his wife in the same manner he talks with his buddies, his directness, bluntness, or argumentativeness may well cause her to feel disrespected or controlled. He thinks he is being honest and forthright. She feels he is being a jerk.

What A Leper And Centurion Can Teach Us About Compassion

It’s hard to do good for people who don’t deserve it, isn’t it?

We all have those people we work with or people in our families that we would rather punch in the face than give a minute of our time to. I bet you can name a few people right now that would you rather work around or completely remove from your life. Words like compassion, friendly, joy don’t seem to fit into our narrative with these so called toxic people. Right?

Am I making sense here?

This is a tension that many of us live with day in and day out. I wrestle with this too, but check out one of the story that Jesus invites us into. Remember the story of the Sermon on the Mount? We all have those people we work with or people in our families that we would rather punch in the face than give a minute of our time to. I bet you can name a few people right now that would you rather work around or completely remove from your life. Words like compassion, friendly, joy don’t seem to fit into our narrative with these so called toxic people. Right?

Am I making sense here?

This is a tension that many of us live with day in and day out. I wrestle with this too, but check out one of the story that Jesus invites us into. Remember the story of the Sermon on the Mount? You know, love your enemy, turn the other check and yup…even go the extra mile. Or, blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Before we walk this out…I’m not talking about justified self defense or protecting your family here.

Sounds great doing a study on the sermon on the mount or reading it in your daily devotional, but living out in real life…well that’s a quite a different thing all together. Well it gets better because Jesus brings it all in by ending the sermon with this, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

OK, let’s hit the pause button here. In the last couple of months using the sermon on the mount as the litmus test, are you a wise man or a foolish one?

Words Are Powerful

A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. -Proverbs 17:27-28

Words can enhearten or dishearten, affirm or accuse, and heal or wound. Use your words well and wisely, but speak them always with truth and compassion.

Some principles to consider:
1) A wise person is a person of few words
2) A wise person thinks before they speak
3) A wise person listens before they speak
4) Words of the wise are fitting for the moment
5) Words of the wise are gentle or pleasant
6) Words of the wise give appropriate praise where it is due
7) Words of the wise bring reproof, rebuke, and correction in line with the above principles

Life is short; I wanna live it well

Life is short; I wanna live it well
One life, one story to tell
Life is short; I wanna live it well
And you're the one I'm living for
Awaken all my soul
Every breath that you take is a miracle
Life is short; I wanna live it well, yeah

...

I got one life and one love
I got one voice, but maybe that's enough
Cause with one heartbeat and two hands to give
I got one shot and one life to live
One life to live, yeah
And every breath you take is a miracle

God Is Calling You Out Of Your Hiding Place!

It was a warm, inviting sunny day as I climbed into the sanctuary of my car to begin my journey down to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, where the New England Patriots football team plays. Cruising down route 495 south with light traffic, no distractions, and dressed to impress in my business suit, I became lost in the reflections of the past week. Of course I was also thinking about how awesome it was to have this opportunity of attending an executive breakfast in the visitor’s locker room to hear Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots speak. There was a welcoming peace that day in the comfort of my car that I was all too enthusiastic to embrace. In the peaceful silence, I was prompted to listen to one of the CD’s in the “Restoring the Father’s Love” series again.

In the peaceful silence, I was prompted to listen to one of the CD’s in the “Restoring the Father’s Love” series again.

I came to a place in the series where time stood still, my heart stopped, and my body went completely numb as the existence of the highway and the other cars around me simply faded into the background; I cannot truly explain what happened. My life began replaying right before my eyes as the Spirit of God brought me back into my past and unearthed something that I had suppressed deep within me for most of my life; I, too, had been abused at the age of ten. I wept all the way to my destination.

You Must Not Go Alone
By John Eldredge

When Neo is set free from the Matrix, he joins the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar—the little hovercraft that is the headquarters and ship of the small fellowship called to set the captives free. There are nine of them in all, each a character in his own way, but nonetheless a company of the heart, a “band of brothers,” a family bound together in a single fate. Together, they train for battle. Together, they plan their path. When they go back into the Matrix to set others free, each one has a role, a gifting, a glory. They function as a team. And they watch each other’s back. Neo is fast, really fast, but he still would have been taken out if it hadn’t been for Trinity. And they watch each other’s back. Neo is fast, really fast, but he still would have been taken out if it hadn’t been for Trinity. Morpheus is more gifted than them all, but it took the others to rescue him.

You see this sort of thing at the center of every great story. Dorothy takes her journey with the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion, and of course, Toto. Maximus rallies his little band and triumphs over the greatest empire on earth. When Captain John Miller is sent deep behind enemy lines to save Private Ryan, he goes in with a squad of eight rangers. And, of course, Jesus had the Twelve. This is written so deeply on our hearts: You must not go alone. The Scriptures are full of such warnings, but until we see our desperate situation, we hear it as an optional religious assembly for an hour on Sunday mornings.

Think again of Frodo or Neo or Caspian or Jesus. Imagine you are surrounded by a small company of friends who know you well (characters, to be sure, but they love you, and you have come to love them). They understand that we all are at war, know that the purposes of God are to bring a man or a woman fully alive, and are living by sheer necessity and joy in the Four Streams. They fight for you, and you for them. Imagine you could have a little fellowship of the heart. Would you want it if it were available?

10 Things a Man Needs to Know About Marriage
By Jeff Kemp

Guys have been blindsided in our culture. We don't see the path to manhood, and we often don't know how to view women, sex, relationships, marriage, and our role as husbands.

A key to the problem guys face is that we don't understand the North Star of relationships. It's the gold standard of selfless love, the blueprint for building a family and blessing your children. What's that North Star? Knowing Jesus Christ and His purposes for marriage, and trusting in His strength to make a lasting relationship possible.

Marriage needs to be re-explained. It needs to be re-branded as an awesome, noble, and challenging adventure. Our manhood, our happiness, and our children's future depend on marriage—yours, mine, and everybody else's.

Marriage needs to be re-explained. It needs to be re-branded as an awesome, noble, and challenging adventure. Our manhood, our happiness, and our children's future depend on marriage—yours, mine, and everybody else's.

In a culture of counterfeits and mistruths, it's important to understand what marriage is about. As you read through the following list, ask God to remake you and help you understand what it means to be a man and a husband. Let's value marriage and relate well to our wives, whether we're married yet, or preparing for that woman.

20 Quotes To Renew Your Patriotism

Every year, Americans celebrate their independence from Great Britain on the Fourth of July. Because of the courage and tenacity of those who fought for victory during the Revolutionary War; we celebrate that monumental moment in US history with barbecues, colorful parades, flag hoisting ceremonies, firework displays, or maybe a day trip to the beach — all a far cry from what our founding fathers would have done.

It was a historic moment in 1776, when the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. From that day forward the 13 colonies, which made up most of the East Coast from Massachusetts to Georgia, were on their way to becoming a sovereign nation and the first states in the United States of America. A movement that would later hail those who sacrificed and fought as true American heroes.

Live Life Without The Fear Of Death In Your Heart

I love a good war/military action movie and I’ve shared my thoughts on some of the more popular ones here on Heartstone Journey; Lone Survivor, American Sniper and 13 Hours to name a few. One movie that doesn’t get talked about much is Act Of Valor. Another great movie!

The story line written by Relativity Media via IMDb goes like this. An unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original film making, Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs in a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure. Dividing The Men From The Boys
By John and Sam Eldredge

[John] A man faces many forks in the road as he journeys through his life—each choice determining what kind of life he is going to live. Will he sell out for money? Will he pursue the girl—and having won her, will he continue to fight for their relationship? Will he risk for his dreams or succumb to fear and resignation? Will he let his health go? Will he fight for friendships? But this one—Will he face evil? Will he become the warrior?—this one will have dramatic repercussions for the rest of his life, because everything else he wants in life he will have to fight for.

This is the fork in the road that divides the men from the boys, whatever their age might be.

In fact, I have hope that your generation will be the one to finally deal with this on a global scale. Yours is the generation raised on Halo and Call of Duty—all those video games that so clearly portray a world at war, great evil powers that must be fought. While a number of church leaders with tight underwear wrote essays denouncing those games, I found myself wondering—perhaps this was God’s way of preparing you to understand and accept the reality all around you.

But let me ask: How would you live differently if life was as epic, mythic, and urgent as Halo?

On this day in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg begins. Our nation should have been celebrating its 87th birthday that week! Instead, we were engaged in a brutal, 3-day battle that would end with as many as 51,000 dead or wounded.

At the time, Confederate General Robert E. Lee was fresh off a victory at the Battle of Chancellorsville in Virginia. He decided to head to Pennsylvania, with the intent of collecting more supplies. In the meantime, newly appointed Major General George Meade led the Union army toward Lee’s troops. The two sides ended up clashing in Gettysburg when Confederate infantry ran into some Union cavalry, more or less by chance. The situation quickly took a serious tone, because Union commanders did not want to lose the town. Many roads converged there.

The fighting was intense. Confederate troops drove the Union cavalry down the streets of Gettysburg, pushing them back toward Cemetery Hill. At this point, Major General Richard Ewell made a choice that may have cost the Confederate army a victory. It was the end of a long day of fighting, and Lee had given him some discretion in the matter. Upon seeing Union artillery at the top of the hill, he declined to pursue the attack further. He thus failed to capture an important position before the first day of fighting came to a close.

Great Moments Are Born From Great Opportunity!

I was looking through some older movies online and stumbled upon ‘Miracle’. It’s the movie that tells the story of Herb Brooks, an American ice hockey player who became the coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian (Soviet Union) hockey team. When Brooks was recruited, the US Ice Hockey committee members were most interested in not being embarrassed at the upcoming Olympics. Coach Brooks hand picked his team and what a team he picked. He picked several of his Minnesota players as well as several from their rival, Boston University. To compete in the same arena with the Russian hockey team, coach Brooks put a big emphasis on teamwork and creativity, a difficult thing to do with a two college teams that were bitter rivals. He also focused on peak conditioning, because one of the reasons he thought the Russian hockey team had dominated international competition was that many of their opponents were exhausted by the third period.

"Win, lose, tie you are going to play like champions!" -Coach Brooks (1980 US ice hockey team)

Adversity

"We pray, "Lord, change me." To answer our prayer, He will often allow circumstances or people to offend us. Our fleshly reaction spotlights the specific area where we need growth. Thus, the Lord initiates change by offending the area of our soul He seeks to transform. He does not expect us to merely survive this adversity, but to become Christlike in it." -Francis Frangipane

Staying True To God
By John Eldredge

The mighty victory is staying true to God. It is maintaining a mature perspective—where God means everything to you—through glorious breakthrough and in the midst of terrible affliction. If you do not hold fast to this, you will be shaken when your prayers do not seem to prevail; you will fall prey to feelings of failure or despair. Or, you will be grasping at promises of unending victory, looking down on those who do not see things as you do. You will be forced to ignore the sufferings of Christ, and our honor in sharing in them.

And you will miss the goal of this life, which is not unending breakthrough, but something far more beautiful and everlasting—the beauty of Jesus Christ, which your Father is committed to forming in you: “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.
