Jason T. Wiser22,185*Storytelling for Business Building with Chris Brogan* There’s a lot of talk lately about storytelling in business and for good reason. Stories help people to understand and relate to your business journey. Where did you get the idea? What was the first thing you did when you realized that you had a good idea? what worked? what was your biggest mistake?  This program is produced by http://ontracktips.com/storytelling-business-building-chris-brogan/ It’s the answers to these questions that interviewers love to ask because viewers want to experience the journey of the successful business owner. They want to imagine themselves walking this path and living this dream. But aside from telling your rise to the top story, what other stories can we tell as business owners? what other stories do people want to hear? That’s why I have invited @118320665823821681206  to “Get on Track, Stay on Track” because Chris is passionate about small business and he understands the value of telling story for branding, for marketing, for business. *Chris is the Author of* "Trust Agents", "Google+ for Business" "The Impact Equation" "Social Media 101" and the soon to be released "The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth" http://jtw.bz/ChrisBr (affiliate link) Some of the questions I’m going to be asking Chris are: ⇒ Other than your rise to the top story, what day to day stories can we tell in marketing? ⇒ What are some of the best examples of companies that are using storytelling in business today? ⇒ How much of your personal life do you share in your business story? If this interests you, start asking questions now AND Invite 2 friends! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Did you click "Yes" on the event invite? Powerful words by Brennan Manning!

“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” ―Brennan Manning

Having the self-confidence to handle any situation you face, whether you live in the city and face traffic, congestion, and crowds, or you live in remote areas with wild animals and inclement weather. And it’s a quiet self-confidence. A strong, self-confident man doesn’t announce his strength to the world. He leads by example. He’s the guy who steps up and takes charge when a challenge is faced, and then quietly fades into the background when the issue is resolved.” ― John Sowers

Why Mentorship Is A Solution To A Fatherless Generation

I believe one of the most valuable tools a man can possess in walking out this adventure called life is a mentor.

Have you sought out a mentor to help you navigate your personal and professional spheres? Maybe you found your mentor at church, in a professional setting, during your first job search or perhaps it was when you transitioned careers. Either way — your mentor was that valuable compass that most likely provided much needed guidance helping you overcome challenges and life’s obstacles. And if you’re fortunate to link up with a solid mentor, they inspired you along the way.

I’ve been blessed to have had a handful of mentors that took the time to walk with me on my journey. Not seeing the value of a mentor early on in life, I wish I better understood that having someone older and wiser than me speaking into my life would have saved me from many pitfalls. Definitely would have helped me navigate the road of life better too.

I can count my life mentors on one hand and my most recent mentor helped me through some of the toughest trials of my life. He helped me walk out of some really tough circumstances, he helped me get my book out there and is always available to walk with me as a life coach if needed. Entering into a place of accountability with someone who you trust, who can share life experiences with and provide the much needed wisdom to navigate it — is invaluable.

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." —William Arthur Ward

Pause for a moment and consider your own need for a mentor at this place in your life. Many people I talk to, convince themselves that they can navigate life in their own strength and it’s sad to watch them stumble and fall. I’m not saying that a mentor will prevent all stumbling in your life, but they will definitely help you avoid some landmines along the way if you listen to them. I recommend mentors for men and women, but I’m speaking to the guys here because many boys have had fathers who were not involved or just absent. A boy without a compass is like an explorer without a map!

Consider the following story....

The Construction of a Great Dad
By Whitney Hopler

As a man, you may love to build things – from a new gadget for your house, to a new fence for your yard. You might even be so handy at building that you can repair your car’s engine yourself or make a toy for your kids by hand. Or, you may be one of those men who’s more likely to call a technician that tackle a do-it-yourself building project.

No matter what level of building skills you have, however, there’s one building project that you can’t afford to ignore: building yourself into a great father. God, your Father in heaven, stands ready to help you every step of the way if you’ll commit to the project – and you and your kids will love the results.

Here’s how you can be built into a great father:

Why God Uses Symbols To Communicate To Us

When we begin to explore God’s word, it doesn’t take too long to discover that God uses tangible symbols as a way of communicating to us. Often God’s people are instructed to make use of symbols to help them understand or remember what God is teaching them. Some examples of symbols include

● the rainbow as the sign of God’s covenant to us that He will never again destroy the earth by a flood (Genesis 9:13),

● the placement of the twelve stones in the River Jordan to remind the Israelites of the crossing God had provided for them “as a sign” and “memorial” (Joshua 4:3-7),

● the star of Bethlehem to signify the birth of Christ (Matthew 2:2),

● the dove to signify the Spirit’s presence at Jesus’ baptism (John 1:32),

● water to signify one’s commitment to Christ atbaptism (Romans 6:4),

● the symbol of a lamb to represent Jesus Christ (John 1:29), and

● my heartstone (Joshua 24:27 NLT).

Also, we still use symbols today to communicate important moments of significance such as wedding rings, birthday cakes, birth stones, and red roses. They are used today as a natural way of communicating significant meaning. There are also many references to the symbolism of stones in the bible, but here are some that I have collected that have significance for me.

10 Disciplines of a Godly Man
By R. Kent Hughes

Men, we will never get anywhere in life without discipline, and doubly so in spiritual matters. None of us is inherently righteous, so Paul’s instructions regarding spiritual discipline in 1 Timothy 4:7–8 take on personal urgency: “Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." That word “train” comes from the Greek word from which we derive gymnasium. So, I invite you into God’s Gym—to some pain and great gain!

1. Discipline of Purity

Sensuality is the biggest obstacle to godliness among Christian men. The fall of King David should not only instruct us but scare the sensuality right out of us! Fill yourself with God’s Word—memorize passages like 1Thessalonians 4:3... more »

Sensuality is the biggest obstacle to godliness among Christian men. The fall of King David should not only instruct us but scare the sensuality right out of us! Fill yourself with God’s Word—memorize passages like 1 Thessalonians 4:3–8, Job 31:1, Proverbs 6:27, Ephesians 5:3–7, and 2 Timothy 2:22. Find someone who will help you keep your soul faithful to God. A pure mind is impossible if you mindlessly watch TV and movies or visit pornographic websites (1 Thess. 4:3–7). Develop the divine awareness that sustained Joseph: “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” (Gen. 39:9).

Planning and providing is part of a man’s leadership role in his home. Sadly many men often misplace their vision and focus on things such as; a house, car, boat, money, rising up the corporate ladder, guy stuff, fill in the blank ______.

Sound familiar?

One of the passions I have is reaching people who have lost themselves to prosperity, power, and position. Whether we know it or not guys, we all ask the basic question “do I have what it takes?” We want to know from our fathers that we have what it takes and when they’re not around or emotionally unavailable, this question often goes unanswered. So, what do we do? We pursue everything else for that validation. We don’t even look for it from God!

So, what do we do? We pursue everything else for that validation. We don’t even look for it from God!

"Because this question eluded me and I didn’t lean into God, I ended up pulling a Maverick — I crashed and burned! After a devastating “life shaking”, God got me off my “pity potty” and taught me how to man up — and He is coming for you! As Christ comes out of the water, His Father speaks validation. His voice ripped away the religious drapery and the Father said, ‘Jesus, you are the real deal. You have what it takes.’ And this is right at the moment Christ is about to launch into his mission. When we show that image to men, they see that God will speak to them the same way. We are sons of God and He will validate us." —John Eldredge

So for all the dads (or soon to be dads) out there here are 7 tips to get you thinking before it’s too late, so listen up.

I hope and pray that everyone in the Heartstone tribe has a place to gather with friends/family and enjoys a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Jesus and "Real Men"
By Arnie Cole, goTandem (Sponsored blog post)

We often choose names for our businesses or ministries to honor someone or to symbolize an ideal. Naming your business or ministry after yourself shows that you are confident and invested. Including words such as “reliable” or “affordable” conveys how the customer will benefit from doing business with you. I’ve noticed that the names of men’s ministries also tend to be aspirational, implying strength, nobility and masculinity – qualities that many of us want to achieve.

Recently I read a dissertation that explored why men in the Caribbean are reluctant to attend church. The author argued, quite convincingly, that the traditional portrayal of Jesus as a blue eyed, fair skinned man with a gentle spirit contrasts too sharply with that culture’s masculine ideal.

That leads me to wonder whether we fully appreciate who Jesus was and instead just limit ourselves to a few well-worn notions. We picture Jesus in a pure white flowing robe standing next to an empty tomb. Yet, this same Jesus was beaten, bloodied and endured hours dying on a wooden cross.

Among Isaiah’s vision of the Christ are as victor over sin and death. In Isaiah 63:1 he’s described as marching in great strength, in bloodied robes, and with the power to save. He has trampled his foes and avenged his people (verses 3-4).

How do we reconcile these two different images of who Jesus is? The key I believe is motivation. Consider Isaiah 63:5:

Those men have already been taken out because they've swallowed the Enemy's first line of attack: "I'm not here-this is all just you." You can't fight a battle you don't think exists. This is right out of The Screwtape Letters, where Lewis has the old devil instruct his apprentice in this very matter:

My dear Wormwood, I wonder you should ask me whether it is essential to keep the patient in ignorance of your own existence. That question, at least for the present phase of the struggle, has been answered for us by the High Command. Our policy, for the moment, is to conceal ourselves.

As for those who want to be dangerous (cutting-edge), take a close look at 1 Peter 5:8-9: "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

What is the Holy Spirit, through Peter, assuming about your life? That you are under spiritual attack. This is not a passage about nonbelievers; he's talking about "your brethren." Peter takes it for granted that every believer is under some sort of unseen assault. And what does he insist you do? Resist the devil. Fight back, take a stand.

Have All The Men Gone?” [Series]

“Man up!”, “Be a man!”, “Grow some balls!”, “He’s a real man.”, “Authentic manhood.”

These phrases (and more like them) echo in today’s culture and hidden behind those phrases is a question seems to haunt men in society today — “What does it mean to be a man? An authentic man?”

In today’s post modern culture the meaning and image of true masculinity is seriously getting diluted, tainted, watered-down and completely lost. Unfortunately the narrative that’s being played out today is ‘boys in men’s bodies’ with only a few wanting to be men…but not exactly knowing how, while others remain nonchalant.

Houston…we have a deficit of authentic manhood in today’s society! Seriously, where have all the men gone?

Lets answer that question.

Life Hit’s Hard!

But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

My Thoughts On Our Divided Nation

Post Presidential election, America is still a very divided nation where people — not happy — with the results of the election have resorted to violent protests. The lives of people living in these areas have been turned upside down, police officers are being threatened, protestors have been shot, many others have been arrested and property is being destroyed. There are some that have been able to keep their protest of the 2016 election civil, but unfortunately many others have spiraled out of control with very few voices calling for peace.

With almost every major urban area in chaos, the divisive rioting is heading towards civil war. The atmosphere is so negatively charged, people need only the slightest “justification” to mark another person an enemy creating “lines” between us and them. Whether its black, white, Christian, Muslim,secularist,... more »

3 Essential Things To Remember When Stepping Into Your Destiny

"A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it."—Jean de La Fontaine

Have you ever felt that there was something inside of you waiting to be birthed? A destiny waiting to be realized and stepped into? Your God given destiny that is there waiting for you, but you’re stuck in this in-between state of never moving forward?

Sound familiar?

Everyone has a God given destiny, but so few choose to walk it out with Him. For me it took some big stuff to happen in my life, which I share in my book Heartstone, but here are some nuggets I learned from that journey of God breaking the man that I thought I was.

It Takes A Hero

I was reflecting on all this stuff going on right now in Washington DC and started looking back at the Presidents we've had throughout history.

One of my favs is General George Washington. In full transparency, I am avid fan of President George Washington and the history that surrounds him.

Sure there was no one before him to set the stage, but remember George Washington, was not just the first president...he was also the only president to lead his troops into battle while in office.

Creating a Monster

But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. -1 Timothy 5:6

If we live for pleasure, we never will find it. The fact of the matter is that living for pleasure is one of the least pleasurable things a person can do. It has been said the best cure for hedonism is an attempt to practice it. If you have ever gone out and lived purely for pleasure, you have found this to be true. The Bible says that "she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives" (1 Timothy 5:6).

Someone who lived this way was Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the rock band, Queen. Queen has sold over 150 million records, and some estimates go as high as 300 million. The band was awash in cash and fame and fortune, and Mercury essentially spent his life in the pursuit of pleasure. One of his friends said his appetites were unquenchable. If we live for pleasure, we never will find it. The fact of the matter is that living for pleasure is one of the least pleasurable things a person can do. It has been said the best cure for hedonism is an attempt to practice it. If you have ever gone out and lived purely for pleasure, you have found this to be true. Mercury did not deny himself anything sexually or materially, but it didn't turn out well for him. And it never does.

He realized that, in his drive to be a star, a monster of his own making had emerged. Referring to his appetite for success, fame, money, sex, and drugs, he was quoted as saying, "I've created a monster. . . . I am starting to worry that I can't control it, as much as it controls me." Mercury died in 1991 at age 45 from complications due to AIDS.

When God saw trouble developing in Cain's heart, he warned, "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it" (Genesis 4:7).

Sin is like a crouching beast, ready to pounce, to control. And if you live for pleasure, that beast will take over.

America Has Spoken, Now Let The Healing Begin!

America has spoken by choosing a new direction and different leadership…so hopefully we can set aside our differences and pray for President-Elect Donald Trump. I also pray that the Lord will give him the wisdom and courage to do what is truly right for America.

This election has been long, tough, very divisive and it’s time to put all that behind us. The tough reality, as a deeply divided nation, no matter who won there was going to be disappointment and anger. Hopefully we can shake off the dust, beat our partisan swords into peacemaking plowshares, shape our verbal spears into loving pruning hooks…and come together as Americans.

Some takeaways I wanted to highlight:

How God Trains His Soldiers

O tested soul, perhaps the Lord is sending you through this trial to develop your gifts. You have some gifts that would ever have been discovered if not for trials. Do you not know that your faith never appears as great in the warm summer weather as it does during cold winter? Your love is all too often like a firefly, showing very little light except when surrounded by darkness. And hope is like the stars, unseen in the sunshine of prosperity and only discovered during a night of adversity. Afflictions are often the dark settings God uses to mount the jewels of His children’s gifts, causing them to shine even brighter.

Wasn’t your prayer, even though you may not have realized it at the time, actually asking for trials? For how can you know if you have faith, until your faith is exercised? You can depend on the fact that God often sends trials so our gifts may be discovered and so we may be certain of their existence. And there is more than just discovering our gifts, we experience real growth in grace as another result of our trials being sanctified by Him.
