Jason T. Wiser22,472*Storytelling for Business Building with Chris Brogan* There’s a lot of talk lately about storytelling in business and for good reason. Stories help people to understand and relate to your business journey. Where did you get the idea? What was the first thing you did when you realized that you had a good idea? what worked? what was your biggest mistake?  This program is produced by http://ontracktips.com/storytelling-business-building-chris-brogan/ It’s the answers to these questions that interviewers love to ask because viewers want to experience the journey of the successful business owner. They want to imagine themselves walking this path and living this dream. But aside from telling your rise to the top story, what other stories can we tell as business owners? what other stories do people want to hear? That’s why I have invited @118320665823821681206  to “Get on Track, Stay on Track” because Chris is passionate about small business and he understands the value of telling story for branding, for marketing, for business. *Chris is the Author of* "Trust Agents", "Google+ for Business" "The Impact Equation" "Social Media 101" and the soon to be released "The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth" http://jtw.bz/ChrisBr (affiliate link) Some of the questions I’m going to be asking Chris are: ⇒ Other than your rise to the top story, what day to day stories can we tell in marketing? ⇒ What are some of the best examples of companies that are using storytelling in business today? ⇒ How much of your personal life do you share in your business story? If this interests you, start asking questions now AND Invite 2 friends! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Did you click "Yes" on the event invite? How To Be A Gentleman
By Dr. David Arnett

Written on flight 1184:

"I was eating in a family restaurant by myself. Solitude gave me the opportunity to overhear the conversations going on around me and to reflect on what I heard. I have questions: What became of manners? of chivalry? of courtesy? of dignity? of self-respect? of the ability to communicate intelligibly?

When did obscenity become standard fare for dinner conversation? When did profanity replace punctuation? When did men (I can't call them gentlemen) decide it was acceptable to swear unreservedly in front of women (I hesitate to call them ladies because they didn't seem to object to the filth and some swore like drunken sailors themselves)?

What would it do to public (and private) discourse if men stopped conversing like grunting animals who fill every other sentence with... more »

Life Is A Journey

A father takes his son into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

8 Tips On “How To Dad” From A Cheerios Commercial

At Heartstone Journey, we know more and more dads are stepping up and experiencing the satisfaction and reward of taking a more active role in the lives of our kids…and dads should be celebrated! I love this commercial because if really does a great job at portraying the reality of life of a dad and family. I also want to give a huge shout out to Tribal Worldwide because they didn’t pick the idiot dad stereotype or the passive dad routine to be “funny”…they picked an authentic dad!

This commercial shows the simple ways dads are awesome and is a reminder that dads do matter and they have an impact on the relationships with their kids. Before reading on, click play, watch the commercial and you’ll see why the campaign is awesome.

Your Life Is Your Message To The World...

Come and take a journey with me through the pages of my personal failure, defeat, lost expectations, and my final devastation. Heartstone is a story about a people who faced the giants that we all face, and the keys God gave them (and has given each of us) to deal with those giants and turn theirs and our broken solitude into a field of dreams.

The truth of God’s word is that He has already written the story of your life. It is time for you to read that story and find your road home. God’s truth is that He has a plan for you that is good and not for evil. A plan where you win in the end.

Let Heartstone be the beginning of your journey home. This time the happy ending will be your own.

He wants you to have a beautiful ending!

Authentic Men Are Warriors Who Protect, Not Rape!

Perusing through my feeds, I came across a story about four young men who demonstrated authentic manhood. Four skateboarders (Arnaud Nimenya, Carsyn Wright, James Hielema and Starlyn Rivas-Perez) displayed courage and bravery when they stepped into a horrific situation where a man was sexually assaulting a woman. They not only stopped the attack by scaring him off…they pursued him and held him down until police arrived to arrest him.

I remember earlier this year, another horrific story of rape, where Stanford University varsity swimmer Brock Turner was convicted for sexually assaulting a woman on campus behind a dumpster. The impact letter of the victim (known as 23-year-old “Emily Doe”) is gut wrenching, but she highlights two men from Sweden who demonstrated authentic manhood. Forgiveness Deals With The Past
By Cloud-Townsend (False Assumptions)

Unless we look at the past, we cannot truly forgive. Forgiveness deals with the past. To know whom to forgive, we must know what happened to us, name the sin, and realize who is guilty.

Another problem with teaching that you should leave the past behind is its disregard for the broken-hearted. God gets plainly upset when his people do not help his hurting ones.

An individual may suffer pain now because of past wounds that have gone untouched by love. Such abandoned or otherwise hurt people carry broken, abused hearts. And however convincingly a teacher claims that such hurts simply vanish with time, they don't. They need to be touched.

What heals them is God's love through his people and his Spirit. When someone has a broken heart, they need the love of other believers.... more »

Those who have been hurt by the family they grew up in need the love and care of their new family, the family of God (Luke 8:21), to heal their old wounds and give them the love they need.

A Letter From A Big Sister: 24 Truths About Men
By +Melanie Baker-Nash

Hey Tim here — wanted to kick off this awesome guest post with a bit of commentary. Although, Melanie wrote this powerful letter to her sister I think it’s a great testament of what women are looking for in an authentic man. To all the women out there, despite what people tell you, there are good men out there and perhaps this checklist will help you find yours. Ok, enough from me, here is that letter!

To my beautiful little sister,

I love you so much. When I think of you, I picture your pretty smile and glimmering eyes. I love to hear your laughter, and although I know you understand loss, I cannot bear to think of you experiencing anything but the joy of God in your life. So this is why I am writing to you now. I love to hear your laughter, and although I know you understand loss, I cannot bear to think of you experiencing anything but the joy of God in your life. So this is why I am writing to you now. You see, your big sister has learned a lot through life experience about the opposite sex. I’ve dated them, worked with them, fellow-shipped with them, I married one, and now am raising 3!

What I am about to share with you, I pray you will cherish, for I know what it’s like to feel so hurt and confused, to scour the internet for helpful advice. And it is all based on this one profound premise:

Get Moving
By Oswald Chambers

In the matter of drudgery. Peter said in this passage that we have become “partakers of the divine nature” and that we should now be “giving all diligence,” concentrating on forming godly habits (2 Peter 1:4-5). We are to “add” to our lives all that character means. No one is born either naturally or supernaturally with character; it must be developed. Nor are we born with habits— we have to form godly habits on the basis of the new life God has placed within us. We are not meant to be seen as God’s perfect, bright-shining examples, but to be seen as the everyday essence of ordinary life exhibiting the miracle of His grace. Drudgery is the test of genuine character. The greatest hindrance in our spiritual life is that we will only look for big things to do. Yet, “Jesus…took a towel and…began to wash the disciples’ feet…” (John13:3-5).

"Every man dies. Not every man really lives." -William Wallace

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take...OUR FREEDOM!

You Have An Enemy

The question is not, Are we spiritually oppressed, but Where and How? Think of it—why does every story have a villain? Little Red Riding Hood is attacked by a wolf. Dorothy must face and bring down the Wicked Witch of the West. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi go hand to hand against Darth Maul. To release the captives of the Matrix, Neo battles the powerful "agents." Frodo is hunted by the Black Riders. Every story has a villain because yours does. You were born into a world at war. When Satan lost the battle against Michael and his angels, "he was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him" (Rev. 12:9). That means that right now, on this earth, there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of fallen angels, foul spirits, bent on our destruction. And what is Satan's mood? "He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short" (v. 12). So what does he spend every day and every night of his sleepless, untiring existence doing? "Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against . . . those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus" (v. 17). He has you in his crosshairs, and he isn't smiling.

You have an enemy. He is trying to steal your freedom, kill your heart, destroy your life.

Protect Her

For every male (not a man!) who wants to violate and dispose of her like a worthless rag doll, there is a man who will cherish her for the treasure she is and a daughter of the most high King. As men, it’s our job to protect women regardless of what they wear or how much they drink.

Arnaud Nimenya, Carsyn Wright, James Hielema and Starlyn Rivas-Perez; in a society that encourages casual sex, demeaning women and rape culture, thank you for showing us that there are still good men out there.

Why “Real Men” Are Romantics At Heart

The big assumption on this topic is that romance is something exclusive to women, which doesn’t make much sense to me. When I think of a grand romantic gesture like a candle-light dinner at a nice restaurant or a surprise getaway, there’s usually a guy involved. Right? Ok think of it this way…in order for a woman to get whisked away for a weekend, someone has to be doing the whisking. Right?

Chick flicks, candle-light dinners and long walks on the beach may not be the first things that come to mind for a guy on the topic of romance, but many woman might be surprised how romantic a good man can be. Of course we like to hold our breath and puff out our chests to look strong, but despite our tough guy exteriors, women might be surprised to know that most men desire romance with the right woman — just not always the kind of romancewomen might... more »

Men like adventure and want to go out and do things together. Spending quality time and playing (get your mind out of the gutter) with their woman makes a guy feel close and loving and intimate; it offers an escape from the ordinary, a time to focus on each other — all things that women want from romance too. The Cross reveals that Jesus has conquered sin and death and that nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from the love of Christ.

Neither the impostor nor the pharisee, neither the lack of awareness nor the lack of passion, neither the negative judgments of others nor the debased perception of ourselves, neither our scandalous past nor our uncertain future, neither the power struggles in the church nor the tensions in our marriage, nor fear, guilt, shame, self-hatred, nor even death can tear us away from the love of God, made visible in Jesus the Lord."

I have questions: What became of manners? of chivalry? of courtesy? of dignity? of self-respect? of the ability to communicate intelligibly?

When did obscenity become standard fare for dinner conversation? When did profanity replace punctuation? When did men (I can't call them gentlemen) decide it was acceptable to swear unreservedly in front of women (I hesitate to call them ladies because they didn't seem to object to the filth and some swore like drunken sailors themselves)?

What would it do to public (and private) discourse if men stopped conversing like grunting animals who fill every other sentence with references to bodily functions or demonstrate their imbecility by profaning the name of a holy God?

What if men began to demonstrate chivalry and respect for their wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and lady friends? I insist it takes a real man to be disciplined enough to honor those in his world by constructing intelligent sentences. Real men, renaissance men use metaphors and word pictures to express strong emotions rather than resorting to phrases learned and snickered at in a junior high locker room.

Dare I suggest that gentle women should stand up and refuse to be treated in this way? What if ladies spoke up and said, 'Sir, to enjoy my presence, you must not talk to me as though I were a longshoreman or a truck driver. As a lady, I insist on being treated with respect.'?

Next, I have a special message for those trendy pastors who think it is cool to speak like a 'shock jock.' If, to hold an audience's attention, you have to be crude and rude like a late night comedian standing before a crowd of the inebriated, I say, 'Get out of the pulpit. You misrepresent a holy God. You are a shameful example to your children and to your congregation. Remember, what you do, even in moderation, your children and congregation will likely do in excess. Besides, in our day, the truth of God's Word boldly declared is shocking enough!'

So, come out of the cave, men. Cease being knuckle-dragging Neanderthals. Shake off the filthy rags and squalor of the Dark Ages. Enter the Light of the Reformation. Join the revolution of Renaissance Men.

Jesus said it this way, 'A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of' (Luke 6:45, NIV).

'Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving' (Ephesians 5:4, NIV)." ~ Dr. David Arnett, May 26, 2014

With all the headlines about young men being confused about their sexual identity or masculinity, I think it’s time for men of God to rise up and model out authentic manhood. Seems like every person has specific experiences and reasons for how their sexuality has developed. I still affirm to Scripture’s blueprint, which maintains that sexual identity except that of a heterosexual male or female is outside of God’s original intention and plan for human sexuality. The attack on manhood is on a steep trajectory and the message is clear that masculinity is a cultural cancer, unless you’re a woman pretending to be a man.

Ok, so in a world so confused with identity where do we start?

We Walk As Lions

Followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to live a life that actively demonstrates to others the worth of the gospel. If the Lion of Judah is running before you, let your life be a billboard for how valuable the gospel is and show that the effect it will have on the life of those who believe it is — fearlessness. Philippians 1:27–28 tells us to; “lead a life worthy of the gospel so that when I come I may find that you stand firm, unafraid of any of your opponents.” One of the ways that our lives can demonstrate the worth of the gospel is when the gospel makes “us walk as lions” — courageous and unafraid.

The righteous are the ones who trust in the Lord — the ones who have faith and place their hope on the mercy, power and wisdom of God. These are the ones who are free from fear. These are the ones whose hearts no longer condemn them (1 John3:21). These ar... more »

And their boldness with God (and with men) demonstrates the worth and the value of the gospel (Hebrews 4:2, 6).

Created for Mission and Adventure
By John Eldredge

After God fashioned this dazzling earth, he gave it to us. Which is a bit like giving your fifteen year old the keys to a Maserati. But, he has his ways of doing things. When God gave us the earth he also gave us all the adventures that lay ahead. No one had yet climbed a mountain, or sailed the sea. No one had yet written a song or a novel. No one had yet discovered that strawberries make wonderful jam. God has “hidden” joys innumerable in the earth he gave us, like Easter eggs waiting to be found in the tall grass. Someone will figure out you can milk that cow, and if you let the milk sit you can skim cream off the top and someone else will discover that the cream goes wonderfully in coffee.

The earth is rigged for adventure, like a sailboat. And our hearts have adventure written deep within, like sailors hear the call of the sea.

A good story has adventure to it. An unknown terrain explored. A wilderness survived. A mountain won. A destination reached. And the story of how it all unfolded—or unraveled—told over and over again. Sometimes risk is involved. Sometimes danger. Often deep beauty. Adventures can be had on our own or with a group. They can entail discovering a new city or acquiring a new talent. The right kind of adventures help us to become more the person we long to be.

From And Sons Magazine

Risk vs Courage, explores our stories as they pertain to our actions. Most men find a place where they feel secure, and they stay there. Others choose to step out into the unknown, which looks different for each of us. How we learn to live, whether that is staying in safety or in living with courage, will define our lives.

Every Story Has A Villain
By John Eldredge

Why does every story have a villain?

It's hard to think of a tale without one. As children, we learned to fear the Big Bad Wolf and the Troll under the bridge. As we grew older, we discovered more serious villains in the Star Wars series—Darth Vader and Darth Maul and Darth Sidious. The Wicked Witch of the West hunted Dorothy. Wallace fought against Longshanks, and Maximus went hand to hand against Commodus. The trinity in The Last of the Mohicans had to eventually face Magua, the black-hearted Huron who betrayed them all.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, we come to dread the Dark Lord Sauron, the Orcs that do his bidding, and the Black Riders who hunt poor Frodo and the ring that will give the evil one power to enslave the world.

Every story has a villain because yours does.

Though most of you do not live like it.

Most people do not live as though the Story has a Villain, and that makes life very confusing. How have we missed this? All the stories we've been telling about the presence of an evil power in the world, all the dark characters that have sent chills down our spines and given us restless nights—they are spoken to us as warnings.

There is evil cast around us.

War. Famine. Betrayal. Murder. Surely we know there is an evil force in this world.

We’re not waiting for permission
We defy our inhibition
Like our middle name is “fearless”
Unafraid

[Chorus]
If we’re gonna fly, we fly like eagles
Arms out wide
If we’re gonna fear, we fear no evil
We will rise
By your power, we will go
By your spirit, we are bold
If we’re gonna stand, we stand as giants
If we’re gonna walk, we walk as lions

Is God A Crutch For The Weak?

I recently shared a post across my social spaces with a quote card of a lion and the words, ‘Once you become fearless, you become limitless’ on it. The post narrative was from 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Didn’t take long to receive this as the first comment: LOL! “God” is for the weak!

All Men Die; Few Men Ever Really LIVE
By John Eldredge

The most dangerous man on earth is the man who has reckoned with his own death. All men die; few men ever really live. Sure, you can create a safe life for yourself . . . and end your days in a rest home babbling on about some forgotten misfortune. I'd rather go down swinging. Besides, the less we are trying to "save ourselves," the more effective a warrior we will be. Listen to G. K. Chesterton on courage:

Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die. "He that will lose his life, the same shall save it" is not a piece of mysticism for saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of... more »

It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of quite earthly or quite brutal courage. A man cut off by the sea may save his life if he will risk it on the precipice. He can only get away from death by continually stepping within an inch of it. A soldier surrounded by enemies, if he is to cut his way out, needs to combine a strong desire for living with a strange carelessness about dying. He must not merely cling to life, for then he will be a coward, and will not escape. He must not merely wait for death, for then he will be a suicide, and will not escape. He must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it; he must desire life like water and yet drink death like wine.

Are You Passing The Mantle?

Recently watched Wrath Of The Titans with my son and the ending scene really stuck a chord with me. In this scene Perseus passes the mantle to his son Helius by speaking words of life and symbolically by handing over his sword.

Yeah, this is a fictional movie but this scene gets at the core of what’s missing today.

Consider this glimpse in the story of Jesus. Before His ministry begins, before He has His wilderness experience Jesus hears these words from God, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17) Ever pause and think about the significance of this?

This is huge!
