When I first collected the Top 500 Plussers on Google+, I spend a lot of time weeding out the people whose posts in which I didn't particularly have an interest (e.g. almost all of the photographers - nothing against people who post photos to G+, it's just me: this is Google+, not Flickr; people who only ever promote themselves - so quite a lot of the pop musicians). The list that is left are people who, I think, actually contribute to the stream. You may find some surprising choices (Dolly Parton?! Actually, yes!). One Sunday morning, January 6th, 2008 I was attending religious services when my cell phone vibrated. As discreetly as possible, I checked the phone and noticed that my phone said "Caller ID unknown". I choose to ignore.

After services, as I was walking to my car with my family, I checked my cell phone messages. The message left was from Steve Jobs. "Vic, can you call me at home? I have something urgent to discuss" it said.

Before I even reached my car, I called Steve Jobs back. I was responsible for all mobile applications at Google, and in that role, had regular dealings with Steve. It was one of the perks of the job.

"Hey Steve - this is Vic", I said. "I'm sorry I didn't answer your call earlier. I was in religious services, and the caller ID said unknown, so I didn't pick up".

Thanks to Nike+ (http://nikerunning.nike.com) ,running became more fun and competitive for me. People obsessed with data and tracking will find this whole experience amazing.

I keep trying to beat up my previous records and improving my overall ranking on weekly basis. 

P.S.: I'm on a self-designed program to lose 15kg of body fat (33 lbs) in 3 months. So far I've achieved 60% of those damn fats in 50 days.

The self-designed program: 

1) Initially no rice/pasta/bread for 6 days a week (reduced now to 3 days a week with 1/2 of my previous amounts). But I can eat any other carbs at any quantities. 

2) No sugar what so ever at all (duhhh).

3) Lots of fruits and vegetables (back to nature).

4) Run for not less than 30km/week and a little bit of weight lifting every 3 days.

Fish food... literally!
Yes, you are seeing tiny fish eating the dead skin off of my toes! Originating from Turkey, these freshwater "doctor fish" have been used for more than 100 years to treat serious skin conditions such as psoriasis.

Today, they can be found in regular foot spas and have become a common trend in Europe, Asia and the UK (and now slowly spreading to the Mid East). Curiously enough, they seem to have been banned in 14 US states for hygiene reasons!

These photos were taken today in a Cairo mall. Cost is equivalent to $10 for 15 minutes. Have you tried it?

On July 1, my friend +Anas Maarawi was arrested in Damascus. Anas is a great blogger and the founder of the only Arabic platform specializing in the Android OS (http://ardroid.com). Anas and I had worked together previously fighting against the US Dept. of Commerce's export controls that restrict ordinary Syrian citizens from accessing important tools. Some of you may have met Anas earlier this year at the Al Jazeera Media Forum, where he spoke on the bloggers' panel.

His friends have set up a campaign (in Arabic and English). There is also a Facebook campaign (http://goo.gl/KhU3e).
