The Darkness Becomes Light

Writing is happening again, and I say that it is happening because it seems to creep up out of my subconscious when the world beats down and stands on my neck. As lights blink out one by one, I stay up late and write frantically, almost with rage. I dive into my self and pull demons from dark corners, transform them into words on a digital page. They fight back and are ugly, but after the rage abates, and the night passes, the sun shines on them and they become beautiful. Writing is real life demon-slaying, and I am a superhero.

Christ Novel

Big Brother

I wasn't sure if this was a real thing, but then I realized it had only passed in the House. I haven't done any follow up research yet, but I will. Essentially the bill gives employers the right to ask for passwords to social media sites, but an employee has a right to refuse. What employee is going to refuse? I don't think it matters whether a right of refusal is codifed when most employees are only worried about feeding themselves and their families. What do you think?

Sigh. Elizabeth Warren Embarrasses Some Bank Regulators To Their Faces. Again.

If you are a bank regulator, it might be a good idea to come to Sen. Elizabeth Warren's hearing knowing what you are getting into. Otherwise this happens. It starts getting really good around 1:40. At 2:30, the regulators say something baffling. And at 3:25, the senator expresses her disappointment with her usual eloquence.

Or so he claims after complaining on the Facebook that it would not allow him to use bold and italics in posts. 

I implore all of you who read this to add this lonely circle of one and read Mr. Gantenberg's posts. He posts about science, psuedo-science, astronomy and other worthwhile things, too.

TESS Is Better than Kepler--OMFG New Planets

The past year has been an exciting year in space exploration with thousands of exoplanets discovered, and with few that lay in their star's habitable zone. The astonishing thing, as mentioned in the link below is that Kepler surveyed only a small portion of the sky. TESS is going to look everywhere, and I can only imagine how much more will be discovered.  

I like outerspace. A lot. I want to go there, and I wish I were immortal.

Another Reason to Boycott Applebee's Besides Their Crappy Food

When you get beat up at your job because you're gay, you're not supposed to lose your job. This is especially true when the person who beat the shit out of you is the husband of a co-worker. 

This attack was unprovoked as far as I can tell and the story reports that "“(Hendricks) was getting out of his vehicle, and he said, ‘Fucking faggot, I’m going to kill you,’”

This poor guy was then told by the restaurant’s manager he could not return to his job due to publicity surrounding the incident. 

The co-worker, whose husband beat the shit out of him, got to keep her job. 

Let's give Applebee's the bad  publicity they deserve.

It's a problem that these views are held by those who hold power. It's more of a problem that these lies are sold to  and believed by the very people who are injured by them. 

Wealth distribution in the United States and also across the world is a problem that no one wants to take seriously or talk about honestly. So maybe we should start talking.

So this is planed for April 6th. I wonder what all those people will do without Facebook. 

Perhaps a better question is what will all those people do with uncensored posts? I'm guessing they will just ignore them.

Proven World

In Medieval Europe, the physical universe could be divided into two parts: the Earth and earthly events (chaotic and temporary) and the heavens (structured and eternal).  That's a bit of an over simplification, but the idea was that the Earth and heavens were governed by different rules.  In the heavens the stars were fixed and eternal.  The motion of the planets were thought to move in circles about the fixed Earth, as did the Sun and Moon.  The heavens were ordered and could be described through geometry.  Earth, on the other hand, was plagued by weather, disease, and strife.  These happened in ways no one could easily predict.   Some things, such time and the seasons, could be determined, but then these were determined by the regular motions of the heavens.
