Tesla Model S frontal features
http://evstories.com
The Tesla Model S's front features make it a beautiful, versatile, and innovative car.
On the first picture we can see that having no Internal Combustion Engine in the front means not needing a grill, which in turn makes the car more aerodynamic, saving energy as it moves.
Then the front storage (lovingly called "The Frunk") has a volume of 5.3 cubit feet (0.150079 cubic meters), this is in practice enough for you to fit grocery bags of 2 shopping carts, while still having another 26 cubic feet of storage in the back with the seats up (and up to a whooping 58.1 cubit feet if you put the backseats down)
Then the line of the headlights is just stunning, add to that the sexy rim of LED daylight driving lights.
How not to fall in love with this car?

How to Learn Anything
"The major barrier to skill acquisition isn't intellectual... it's emotional." An excellent reminder of how easy it can be to learn a new skill. Kaufman says it only takes 20 hours!
Update: I'd like to add a counterpoint to balance Kaufman's message. I love his talk and it feels intuitively true to me, but there's also another side to the story.
Sometimes it's more fun to learn inefficiently! I love leisurely learning, like following tangents or indulging in reading too many books. :) Every field of study has its own culture and community, its own legends and weird trivia and rich backstories. Exploring and immersing yourself in those strange new cultures is half the fun!
So on top of those 20 hours focused on efficiency, I think it's just as important to have at least a few hours of... more »

What's wrong with you Microsoft?
The tech panorama would be so much more interesting if you would be making the obvious right decisions you need to make.
You screwed up mobile and took too long to start to catch up, now it's all Android and iOS, while you don't make it one bit exciting for developers to code for your platform, at this point your best bet is to make Windows Phone Android compatible.
You screwed up windows and the entire desktop ecosystem by trying to push your touch vision down on desktop users' throats therefore screwing both your chances at truly competing with the iPad and giving a devastating blow to the desktop software market because new users won't be buying PCs if this is all you have to offer for the future of the desktop.
Now you release the Xbox and you won't let Indie developers in... more »

I call it "The Cloudbook"
#pixel #chromebook
anybody knows of a great Java/Scala cloud coding environment, Cloud9's Java/Scala support is lacking (even though the rest of their toolset is pretty impressive)

is USB Sound output supported?
I just got my pixel and I was excited to test sites like turntable.fm, frostclick.com, bandcamp.com, I hook up my Bose Speakers on the USB port but sound is still coming out through the regular speakers.
I can't find a way to configure what my sound output device is.
c'mon google!
can't compete with mac if things don't just work.
Now I'll just have to use this like any other regular linux box, will have to install a linux that lets me hack (waste time) until I get sound routed via USB to my bose speakers.
am I wrong?

Thank you Amazon
I recently received my Daft Punk CD, but the CD came in defective, it won't play on any player.
I was getting ready to go through the process of a replacement when I get this email

+1 If you'd like to "Add post to queue"
If you manage Google+ pages, it's a nightmare having to be there to post at the right time.
G+ pages (and why not regular user feeds) should let you configure posting queues a-la Tumblr.
You decide how many posts per day you want to post, and between what hours you want to post.
Post when you have the time, and don't leave your audience thirsty.

Remote Image Disk Caching Question
So now I'm concerned about not hitting my servers too much (otherwise bw costs will kill me)
I'm looking at how you guys cache in disk, I see that you're supposed to have like 10Mb, but does this only work for IceCream Sandwich?
@Override public Response load(String url, boolean localCacheOnly) throws IOException {
if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.ICE_CREAM_SANDWICH) {
installCacheIfNeeded(context);
}
...
Also, I see you use cache.getCacheDir(), Android documentation says you should only use like 1Mb of that. We usually don't touch that folder for disk caching of remote images.
I've debug turned on, and I see that once my cache is filled, all the remote images I load are having misses, I'm guessing Picasso is going over and over to... more »

sneaky, sneaky
where is OkHttpClient?
how come you try to load this guy only if available but you don't include it in the jar?
Too good for the FOSS community?

Make sure your file paths start with file://
Otherwise images from disk won't load, as they'll be considered of Type.STREAM by the RequestBuilder.
Cheers.

any tips on why it might only be loading place holder images in ListViews instead of the requested file from disk?
stepped through the code with the debugger and didn't see a reason why it's not showing my image.
If I have debug on, will the placeholder images also have the red corner ribbon on the top left? or is that debug ribbon only shown when it successfully loads the resource you passed (not the placeholder)
(talking to myself, wonder if picasso is indeed working but I'm loading the place holder later on in my code and I haven't seen it)
Cheers from FrostWire Team.

A high resolution Rearview Video Feed whenever you need it
For me It’s great to have such a big, high resolution view on board, however some people complain that it’s too distracting for them (and mirrors aren’t?)
My 2 complains about this camera are the following:
1. The camera is not at the very center of the trunk, so it’s a little weird at first to try to measure the car dimensions when you’re backing up when you first start using the car.
2. It doesn’t have any overlaid guidelines like in BMWs, which always help you do the perfect parking job. Perhaps a patent/licensing issue that Tesla Motors didn’t want to get into.
