8:00AM if you zoom out the view is real time, it is noon in Africa and sunrise in central US. Night side show Australia and lights of the East coast. The clouds are real time (I verifie). Searching for stores restaurants even from space.
Aliens will have no problem locating the best Sushi,  Frank the Pug, and you can see left of the dark side ORION in its correct position I think and remember "the galaxy is on Orion's belt". BTW the lite version preview doesn't work on anything than desktop and doesn't have 3D. 
Tip o hat to google. I don't see how Apple can beat them ... maybe time to switch to Android development. I hate Json Html ;(

Dandelion  (Taraxacum)

Most hated plant in North America. Name comes from "Dents de Lion"  or Lion's tooth from the leaves shape. It is a highly diuretic and has been used since the Middle-ages as a medicinal plant. In French it is called Pissentlit which means "Pea in Bed" because of its diuretic properties.

Tall grass

So rare here in Quebec. Most of the 'grass' here is low pasture like grass. I have been in places where grass is 6-8 feet tall.

Montreal
The Old Port is the Montreal Croisette. Lots of 'see-me' people and tourists, rented bicycles, tricycles,  skates, even Segways,... Flanked by the famous Rue de la Commune (do I hear a guillotine?) and many cafés & restaurants with their outside 'terrasses'. Can't take people here so I limit myself to shadow people.
Le Vieux Port est un peu comme la Croisette mais sans les starlettes. C'est une des promenades favorites des Montréalais. On y voit les m'as-tu-vu faisant le boulevard, les touristes désorientés toujours d'immenses cartes à la main, cherchant leur chemin, les camelots et amuseurs publics, les tireurs de portrait et les travailleurs à la tire!

Tulips in Sunrise - Time Lapse 1h 45mn
This morning I saw tulips still closed and had an idea I could catch the morning 'opening'. I thought it will take 10-15mn maybe 30mn but 45mn later I had to reprogram a sequence for another hour. I processed the stack in layers in gimp, resized to 1024x768 to save some bandwidth but the 'Giffinf' created some artifacts, and the most problematic thing was the background light changing so much. Post mortem:
1. Wind: tulips moved a lot, even the grass in the background is moving. Auto focus was hunting badly and I cut auto focus
2. Light: Mix of clouds and sun plus some 'air'. Clearly visible in the sequence. PS5 and 6 has a feature to equalize all frames I believe but Gimp zero.
3. Flower movement is not all from wind. At the end of the sequence 1h45mn later the head of the tulips was clearly turned toward the sun.... more »

Rue des Artistes

Montreal pittoresque street on Jacques Cartier Square where the 'Artists' sell their wares. You can find there The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Many galleries in the streets above and below with real paintings. Beaver Tails is on the left. Not recommended for diabetics or people on diet. 
La pittoresque Rue des Artistes adjacente a la place Jacques Cartier avec ses boutiquiers vendeurs d'estampes coloriées. Quelques caricaturistes aussi qui vous croqueront le portrait. Queues de Castors à gauche sur rue de la Commune. Pas recommendé pour les diabétiques ou les gens au régime.

Notre Dame Basilica - Montreal
'The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky' (Revelation 8-10)
Notre-Dame de Montreal pretentiously touted by someone on Wikipedia as "among the most dramatic [gothic cathedral] in the world". What? It was built in 1824 to 1829, I found the style inside terribly rococo, bright colors and stained glass that looked fake. Nothing to do with the real thing (1163-1345) which I visit every time I go to Paris. On top of that you must pay $5 to enter, and there is a boutique selling trinkets. Jesus would have a field day with the modern Pigeon sellers. But this is my opinion only and if you are a tourist or a Montrealer you must visit.

Closed Road - Park Mont Tremblant

Park Mt Tremblant Quebec
Back from a long trip to Park Mt Tremblant 150km North of my place. Four hours drive total plus maybe 7km of hiking. Already talked and posted many pictures from this place like the Devil's river waterfall. Big sections of the park were closed due to very high water level, and many trails still full of snow or extremely muddy. Devil's waterfall access road was blocked so we walked there a good 3km and found that the trail was closed, check below the fallen trees and snow/ice. We came back and took some easier trails. Will post some videos I made on some smaller waterfalls/rapids this week.
At the end of the day we got all a good sunburn and have a good 5 to 7km in the legs. We are kaput!  Tonight no problem to sleep. Good night

Today May 5 is Japan's National Holiday, Children's Day called "こ ども の ひ / 子供の日 / Ko domo no hi" in Japanese.
and also today is the first day of Summer called "りっ か / 立夏 / Ri kka" in Japanese. Rikka is a seasonal day according to the Japanese calendar, which divide a year into 24 solar terms.
It's Sunny and 17.5 degrees celsius in Tokyo area. Have a beautiful Sunday!!!!!

Babel 
Went to Metropolis today. I hate the traffic. Many strange buildings in Montreal. Old and new different style as if the city was the object of a perpetual architect competition. Some ugly structures too, odd parkings, and way to many garbage boxes visible in not-so back back alleys. Here 'New York like' steam or vapor coming out of a building.

Tree Swallow - Hirondelle bicolore (Tachycineta bicolor)

Tree Swallows nest in cavities near water. They feed primarily on insects, but also on fruit sometimes. They acrobatic flyers and catch insects in mid-air in open bill.
L'Hirondelle bicolore niche dans des cavités dans les arbres et cavités naturelles à proximité de l'eau. Elle se nourrit d'insectes mais aussi de fruits.

In French Chute de la Diable or Devil's fall. It is extremely loud, impressive and powerful. Taking pictures is difficult because you are too close and you need a wide angle to catch the whole show. Light conditions are also difficult because you have a huge contrast between the low light in the 'canyon' at the bottom and the sky above. I climbed down once and took pictures at water level on a tripod and it was crazy. Don't try that! If you go with kids keep them close.

If you compare to this post http://bit.ly/132woTw you can see it is the same spot. The group of trees is in fact a small island, but with all that ice melting the level of water is extremely high in many places and the islands are covered by two feet of water.

Cattails in Sunset

Cattails, Bulrush, Reed scientific name Typha latifolia was part of many native North American cultures, as a source of food, medicine, and for other uses. The rhizomes are edible after cooking and removing the skin, while peeled stems and leaf bases can be eaten raw, or cooked. Dried rizhomes can be ground in a glutten free flour. http://bit.ly/ZXzzs4

Quenouilles
Les Quenouilles comme on les appelle encore au Québec (alias Rauche, roseau à massette, massette à larges feuilles) étaient consommées par les "Indiens" autochtones en salade (coeur) rhizomes crus ou séchés et moulu en farine. Quelques chefs au Québec essayent de remettre ces quenouilles sur la table. C'est une plante endémique qui envahit tous les marais et marécages au Québec.

Kingfisher  (highly cropped)
Shot that one from at least 50m with a 200mm and it is highly cropped and a bit blurred but perfectly recognizable. Didn't see a lot of live fish in the marsh but saw a few dead ones, which is not good. One side of the marsh is now bordered on a few kilometers by a golf course and these places are notorious for fertilizer and pesticides. Everything going ... South these days. Money Money Money
